Bei unserem ersten Aufenthalt waren wir mit dem Service an der Rezeption sehr zufrieden.. bei unserem 2. Aufenthalt leider nicht.. die Rezeptionsdame war extremst unhöflich und legte bei einem Anruf aus unserem Zimmer bei der Frage nach dem Verstellen der Klimaanlage einfach den Hörer auf. Ansonsten ist das Hotel ganz in Ordnung, die Matratzen sind […] sehr hart und unbequem, ( bei Nachfrage an der Rezeption ob es auch Betten mit weicheren Matratzen gibt: "Gibts nicht!!") jedoch ist das Preis-, Leistungsverhältnis sehr gut und bei einem geplanten Besuch des South Bund Fabric Markets liegt das Hotel ideal, knapp 30 m daneben. Das Hotel soll in der Nähe einer U-Bahn Station liegen, ich bin allerdings mit dem Taxi gefahren, was sich auch als richtige Entscheidung herausgestellt hat. Es liegt in einer Wohngegend, und ohne Chinesisch- und Ortskenntnisse wird es wahrscheinlich schwer (ich bin am nächsten Morgen nur mit dem Taxi zum Maglev gefahren und hatte daher wenig Gelegenheit, […] die Umgebung zu erkunden). Das Zimmer sollte lt. Buchung ein Deluxe-Doppelzimmer sein, wenn mein Zimmer allerdings ein Deluxe war, dann möchte ich nicht wissen, wie klein Standard ist. Das Zimmer hatte Bett, Schreibtisch, ausreichend Schrankraum, aber eine Tür ließ sich nicht öffnen, weil das Bett davor stand. Außerdem Flachbildfernseher, den ich nicht benutzt habe, und Internet-Kabel. Das Kabel des Hotels war gebrochen und funktionierte nicht, mein eigenes funktionierte dann. Das Zimmer hatte auch einen großen Balkon. Die Matratze war eine harte Federkernmatratze, von der ich jede einzelne Feder gespürt habe. Kissen und Decke waren in Ordnung, Bettwäsche und Handtücher sauber. Allerdings habe ich am nächsten Morgen ein Insekt neben meinem Kopfkissen gefunden. Am Abend kam aus der Dusche nur kaltes Wasser, erst auf Nachfrage bei der Rezeption kam ein Mitarbeiter und stellte im Gang das warme Wasser an. Die Dusche war eine Regendusche plus Handduschkopf, der Regenduschkopf war schlecht gereinigt. In der Dusche lag eine Antirutsch-Matte, auf der der Schimmel deutlich zu sehen war. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ich musste sehr kurzfristig einen Flug nach Taipeh buchen und der Concierge machte dies innerhalb von 30Minuten. Preis-Leistung stimmt absolut überein. Es ist jedoch kein 4-Sterne-Hotel nach Schweizerischen Massstäben, aber es ist sauber und alles im Zimmer funktioniert (was ich China nicht selbtsverständlich […] ist). Mehr

Booked two rooms for 5 nights. Only stayed for 2 after a horrendous ordeal. No-one knew where the hotel was. The hotel staff made us wait 6 hours just to check in, and when we did we found the rooms to have none working fridges (in both rooms), beds hard as rock, and a rather unclean room. Worst of all those is the service - the buffet is hardly even […] edible, and the staff will not help you at all - they won't even print out your flight itinerary or print anything for that matter. They'll shoo you away when someone else approaches the reception. I felt physically sick, so I checked out early. Please just save your money and look elsewhere. Mehr

you get the value for your money. cheap and in good location near the metro. the rooms are very small and the hotel is much simpler than it looks on the photos

Nice hotel in the old part of the city. However a little outside the centre but close to subway. Nice and spacious room with big window facing the river. Big bathroom and a closet. Reception staff speak English however some more willing to help than others. The area is very nice if you like local marked and washing hanging from the houses. First of all, this is a motel quality with very tired and very old facilities. 4 stars rating and the photos are absolutely Wrong and Misleading rating. Notice the price. The room is very old, matrass and chairs smell very bad like old garments. They have new carpet but that's the only good thing. Please don't be fooled by the rating and photos. Most […] staff don't speak English, it's so hard communicating with them. The location which is in Nanpu bridge Metro/Subway is far from anything else and it's besides traditional market. Good thing there's wallmart close by but don't expect shops/ restaurants around this motel It's defimitely a motel for backpackers (old and need major renovations as well) Mehr

For the price by booking at hotel.com, couln't be happier. Nanjing Rd. is about a 20 min. walk away or if you prefer, a $3 Canadian taxi ride.

This hotel is probably the best value for money near the bund area. However, you must overcome a few obstacles: 1) the location is difficult to find, and surrounded by fake markets and street kitchens. 2) the staff is kind of rude - they damaged my passport with the copy machine, screamed around and gave me the standard room, though I booked a better […] category. I was too afraid of them so I stayed at my room. In summary, if you don't care these obstacles you can have a room that is pretty ok, comparably modern and with a balcony. This is an apartment building converted hotel located in a residential area. Not recommended unless you are familiar with Shanghai or if you are staying for an extended time period and looking for a budget hotel... Overall a very good hotel. You need to know your way and be willing to walk through some older part of town to get to the nearest metro station(xiao nan men). Otherwise there are a few buses out on the main road that take you to Pudong and People's Sq (around 20 mins, depending on traffic) Getting a taxi isnt too difficult, walk 2 minutes out to the […] main road and there are usually lots, due to the fabric market being a popular drop off destination. The location has its advantages in that it is located right next door to the south Bund spinning and fabric market.That landmark is perfect when commuting by taxi because they all know where this market is.In China thats a big plus as taxi drivers ofetn struggle to find hotel locations unless part of a big chain.The subway is maybe a 10 minute walk, […] there is a small shop across the road open till late selling essentials plus ther are fruit stalls in the street at night.Internet access was very slow but it was there and it was free. Not so expensive hotel. But not 4 star.

Pleasantly surprised. Great value for the money. Also very good front desk staff. Small staff. Simple but efficient front desk staff.

One of the male staff is not helpful at all!!!!

I remember his name like Mr Zhang(Zheng), he is not only unhelpful, he will point you to the opposit direction. And I wasted 2 hours to follow his direction and end up write this message to let the other guest know. A bad heart staff!!!

This hotel was great value for money and wefound it to be better than the previous reviews indicated. It is located right next door to the south Bund fabric market so if you are after some tailoring, this is a superb location. Its about an 8 minute walk to the nearest subway. clean comfortable room with good price but location is a bit far from city centre. No proper food, shopping or entertainment available in the neighborhood.

The hotel is dirty, the reception counter and the managers were extremely rude and feedback were never followed up. The phone in the room which supposed to help us to call the reception should anything happened; was not working. Despite numerous reminder, the hotel did nothing. There was a blackout during one of the nights but we couldnt call the reception […] for help. the so called managers did not liase with one another as any resquest made have to be repeated everytime a new person was in the shift. If you speak Chinese, this hotel is superb in terms of it quality/price ratio. A very nice day/night market is just yards away from the hotel, with loads of cheap fruits/traditional chinese snacks etc available to feed you anytime. The location is not bad also, although if u have heavy luggages it will be easier to just take a taxi between hotel/metro […] station. Mehr

Because a number of other reviews point out the difficulty of finding this hotel, I took the GPS coordinates recently: 31°12'52.56"N 121°29'44.39"E By metro, take line 4 to the Nanpu Bridge exit and use exit number 3 from the station. Walk around to your left and cross under the underpass at the first light. The hotel is just a short distance on the […] left hand side of the road. Once you check in, grab a hotel taxi card to show any Shanghai taxi driver and I found they could drive straight to the hotel from very distant locations in Shanaghai (Hong Mai Lu, for instance). The hotel is in a residential area and is very close (5 minute walk) to the Nanpu bridge Metro station. There is street food right outside, and a Walmart about 5 minutes by walking. There are obviously several different rates of rooms, and the room I selected was not cramped but not large. It was clean and comfortable. It had both a shower and a bath as well as a small refrigerator. Beds are, of course, fairly firm or hard since this is China, and they are a bit lumpy with age, but I had no problem sleeping. The internet access is wired not wireless and I always travel with a small wireless access point that worked well with the hotel system. One complaint I had was the odor of cigarette smoke somehow coming into the room through the ventilation system on occasion. I found the staff pleasant and helpful. While their English skills were low, I found that if I tried, they tried, and I always managed to get the information I needed. The staff always seemed ready to help. This hotel is a budget hotel for Shanghai. With that in mind, I was pleased with the value for money in an otherwise expensive city by Chinese standards. I would stay here again. Mehr

First,Hotel information and online log to a different hotel, including telephone number and name. In accordance with HOTEL.COM give my phone number to contact them and ask them the Chinese name of the hotel, then take a taxi to the hotel. Upon arrival, the staff has said that phone number and address do not match, is that they are another group. I asked […] them why they are not online to make the right amendments? Answer is not clear, not about our business. From this, their attitude is what's bad, so I will once again take a taxi to the correct location . The second is the front of the hotel staff and the overall performance of staff, lack of smile (morning shift and night shift staff officers are the same.) this is a good hotel for the price ,convenint to many stores and shop ,subway is about a 10 min. walk but it is just as easy to take a cab. the hotel personel were very helpful when we needed a cab and helping us with directions. I would reccomend this hotel and I would stay here again

Rooms are clean, all good, knew about tea facilities - no sugar, no milk, no spoons, just kettle, cups, water and green tea, so I took my coffee, sugar, spoon, etc. Everything is OK if you prepared. Bed is very hard, but there are sofa also, so I took the matras from the sofa bed and put it over the bed, was excellent!!! Easiest way to get to the hotel […] from Pudong airport is to take Maglev train and then a taxi, make sure you have got a good map. For coffee lovers - I haven't found any good real coffee and reception told me there are any in close proximity - so make sure you come prepared. It is close to metro/train, good location. I stayed at Rayfont Hotel South Bund Shanghai for three nights. The hotel room is clean, no noise or vibration from the outside, and the hotel employees are attentive. They only have some problem communicating in English. Mostly, only the upper managers can convey and understand English. Also, I have problem locating the hotel, because the hotel building […] facade and gate still bears the old names of the hotel. I guess, it had many old names such as Starway Hotel and Rayfont Nanpu. In terms of location, the hotel is just 5-minute walk to Nanpu Subway Station. From there, one can go to all corners of Shanghai via subway. I did not try the breakfast. a average hotel for a good price. my opinion is divided about the rayfont south bund hotel, espacially about the hotelstaff....most of them don't understand english. so if you need something you have to try in chinese...... but some of them don't care even they understand. the hotelroom itself is ok for the price. most of things inside the room works […] good. the cleaning staff is kind....but ignores "don't disturb" sign, sometimes. verdict: it is ok for 1 or 2 weeks if you don't have high standards. How well you like this hotel will depend on your exspectations. Mine were average. The hotel staff is very nice. My room was not very modern but clean and comfortable. Good cleaning service as well. Location is great for those with intention to tailor-make clothes or even bedsheet/quilt-cover sets! Hotel is almost just next door. Staff are generally friendly though may seem a little harmlessly stern when communicating in English (as they need to concentrate more?). Rooms are ok if your expectations are managed for a local 3.5 star hotel. The mattress […] is those hard spring type so if you are used to soft beds, it might be difficult. I had no problems as I like harder mattresses. There might be some lax in the cleaning the floor, but I got around it by wearing slippers all the time. Transportation is ok as many foreigners take taxis to the tailor place and you can just jump in There's bus 43, 2 stops from line 8 station and bus 802 to People's Square during peak hours, rush or no-taxis situations. The telephone number listed on confirmation was for a different Rayfront Hotel (there are 4 in Shanghai); therefore, we arrived at the wrong hotel after calling for directions. I was charged for 2 twins and given a double bed; however hotels.com is correcting the situation. During my entire two-week stay in China and many hotels, this was the top one. First of all, I was placed on the 16th floor with awesome views of the city and nearby Nanpu bridge. The neighborhood has a few restaurants and lots of food carts and vendors at night. There's a coffee shop, supermarket, and subway station within walking distance. Maybe I just didn't know my way around well enough, but I didn't find this hotel to be near the Bund at all. This was one of the reasons I booked this hotel. It was also well within my budget. Some other reviewers have remarked that this hotel was difficult to find. That could be because the map for this hotel is WRONG! We found the exact location pointed to on the map, only to realize there was no hotel in sight. The actual location is about a mile southeast of what is shown on the map. If a friend were to ask me about hotels in Shanghai, I would suggest looking elsewhere first, but if that person just wants a cheap hotel for a couple of nights, and doesn't mind that it's in an inconvenient location and has somewhat surely staff members, then the Rayfont South Bund should do nicely. Good value, good service, clean and good condition. Location may be a bit inconvenient and the surrounding areas are "old Shanghai" and some may not be used to it. Generally if you intend to taxi everything, it is no problem at all and it is around RMB20 to get the the more central/tourist areas. Overall, a bargain for the price.

I stayed at this hotel for the 1st time last year when i did have a nice stay and for this reason decided to book with them for my second visit to shanghai.WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT !! Definetly not as expected. We were notified that it was a 4 star hotel and it clearly wasn't. Some of the disappointments were the showers were rusty, the hall restrooms smelled at all times, the springs in the beds were ripping through and almost out, bugs were entering the room through the cracks in the walls, and the "Do Not Disturb" signs have no […] meaning to them. The title says it all. Go elsewhere in Shanghai where you can find similar bargain.

Based on all the reviews on here I knew that the location was not the best, the beds would be hard, the rooms would be small, and the bathrooms would be slightly awkward with glass walls... While all of these comments are definitely true, I don't think people are focusing on all of the good! This hotel feels upscale, it is very comfortable and the people […] who work at the front desk are helpful. My husband and I just stayed 5 nights and were definitely impressed to get a room in a hotel of this caliber in Shanghai for the price we paid! We would definitely stay here again if we ever return. Whiel this hotel is not quite as close to the Bund and downtown as we would have liked, it was only about a 20 minute walk, so I can't complain. The rooms were small but comfortable. The beds were hard, but that's just China. For the price, you can't beat it.
