Byward Blue Inn - Ottawa

Wir waren sehr überrascht. Das Hotel liegt 5 Gehminuten von den Sehenswürdigkeiten entfernt. Ruhige Lage und 50 meter entfernt ein öffentliches bewachtes Parkaus für einen Tag und eine Nacht 13.75 Dollar. Sehr günstig. Kann ees nur weiter empfehlen.

Spartan European-type accomodation, Very clean. Friendly service. Well placed near Bytown.

The hotel is older with a boarding house feel. Sound travels throughout the building. Staff are polite and helpful. Right in the heart of the Byward Market area.

Was pleasantly by the cleanliness if the hotel and the location. They are very accommodating, loved that they had laptops that you could use in their lounge and there were snacks throughout the day that you could have all complimentary. Will definitely stay there again. I parked my car in their garage and didn't need it till I left.

It's all about the art. If you consider yourself a little quirky and you don't 4 start conditions, this place is for you. There's original art on all the walls, and lots of space in the rooms. The service is great if you're willing to engage on a human level, not if you're perfunctionary. :)

This is the perfect hotel for me.as a person who travels alone It's smaller size and great location are just right. I had a most charming room and the balcony was an added bonus. The staff was very friendly, helpful and gracious. I highly recommend this inn for those who prefer a comfortable and pleasant stay in a beautiful city. I cannot comment on […] the complimentary breakfast or tea since I had other plans for my meals but I did appreciate the kitchenette for late night snacks and morning coffee. Mehr

good, basic hotel, close to everything

Very helpful front desk staff. We did not get maid service the second day, but that was OK. It is perfectly located close to everything. Nice breakfast, all in all an excellent find.

Stayed here twice. Loved it both times. Highly recommended!

This hotel looks like it used to be an old nursing home or rehad hostel. The halls are narrow with parquet flooring. The rooms are basic (to say the least) with laminate flooring and MDF furniture (IKEA?) Bed was comfortable, nice to have a balcony for smokers, one small elevator, staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was adequate, but nothing […] fancy; bacon, eggs, cereal, yogurt cereal etc. You can't beat the location if you're interested in the Byward Market, Parliament buildings, downtown core. Great place to stay. Within walking distance of everything. City underground parking 20 feet away was a great advantage. Would definitely stay here again if we were in the area. Enjoyed the afternoon tea each day!

I thought this hotel was overpriced for the condition and decoration of the rooms. The front reception people were lovely and very helpful though, I give them a 10 out of 10. My room had an old window airconditioner and the blind above it was bent and broken, so that looked a little sketchy. The bed's very hard, but the room is clean. Good location (right in the Byward Market), but seriously, that's it for the attraction to this place. My counterpart described it as "European". Bare bones basics with no comfort. That's it folks; a place to sleep.

Nice hotel, tidy and clean.Hotel location is perfect for somebody which doesn't know the city. Wireless internet worked very good. The breakfast could be better.

Byward Blue in was in a gread location, not fancy but interesting and simple. They have a definite charm, coffee and tea in the afternoon, balconies and interesting art work. Breakfast was fine and included. Beds were very comfortable and room was clean. Staff were accommodating and very courteous-reminded me of ismaller inns we'd stayed in Greece and […] Italy. Mehr

This is a perfect spot to stay for a few days of sightseeing in Ottawa -- a short walk from Parliament, the National Gallery, and the many shops and restaurants of the Byward Market. The room has a microwave and small fridge, and some have balconies. I found the staff friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast and internet are included. One thing to […] note is that the parking garage (extra charge) is underground and very tiny -- if you are driving a big SUV it will be a very tight squeeze, and there are only ten space. I had reserved and paid two night June 9 and 10, 2011 I checked in the hotel in a hurry, and went out again. When I returned late that night, I realized that the room was terrible, dim lights and half broken furnitures. There wwas an air conditioner in the window that made a very loud noise. When I opened the bed, I realized that someone had slept in […] it already, and the sheets had not been changed. I immediately went downstair and called the man at the front desk, and he came immediately and change the sheets himself. By his reaction I saw that he was not surprised. The following morning I went for breakfast. The dining area was not very clean, and I did not like the look of what they were offering. I went to eat breakfast at a nearby restaurant. I left the hotel immediately after. I did not stay the second night. I had already paid and lost my money. There was no way that I was going to stay in that place. Just too awful. Mehr

I think this hotel is good for the price. Basically you get your room and a pleasant main floor sitting room/dining room. No other amenities. I stayed there for 4 nights in May 2011. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The area around the hotel was quiet and it is close to the market. I could walk to the Parliament Buildings in about 15 minutes. I […] had some trouble getting the wifi connection to work on my Mac PowerBook G4, but eventually it did. The room was spartan but clean. Bed was comfy. They require a $150 damage deposit, which I thought was odd. The Hotel.com website said wifi and breakfast were not included, but in fact the wifi was included and so was a continental breakfast. An economical and pleasant stay with parking and a parking garage beside so you don't have to drive for the weekend . Hotel rate includes continental breakfast but you can pay extra and have a full breakfast.The balconies are a nice touch(especially for the smoker).

Although I was relatively happy with my room, there was a very unpleasant odour throughout the hallway, that was quite repugnant. Not sure what the cause was, but I would recommend that they do something about it, or they will lose business.

I am a frequent stayer... Love the location, staff, and feel of the place. Breakfast was not too impressive.

This is a basic hotel with nice, basic clean rooms, decent breakfast, and a small surcharge for hot breakfast. I chose this hotel close to my home, which was crowded with family over the holidays. It was a great choice, clean and comfy, quiet and less pricey than alternatives in the area. This is my neighbourhood so I can attest to the great location, […] close to major attractions, National Art Gallery, Parliament, the Rideau Canal, Winterlude activities, the list goes on. I understand that they have a family suite, which can accommodate 4-6 people, with a large terrace, great alternative for families. Our room was a haven during the hectic Christmas period, when we gave our house to family with small children. This is not a fancy hotel with gym, pool, restaurants, but is good value for the price. Looking at the website, I felt that this was an Inn like a B&B. It is more like a 2-star hotel constructed from a condominium. So the hotel/inn is characterless, but the staff are helpful and the location is great.

The hotel is situated right on the edge of the Byward Market area, close to stalls, shops and restaurants. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, offering all the necessary information to make our stay enjoyable. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable and well presented. In addition to the usual courtesy tray, a microwave oven and fridge […] were also provided. Byward Blue Inn has been our hotel of choice in Ottawa. Its location at the Byward Market is central to all of Ottawa's top attractions. Hotel is clean, friendly and easy on the budget. We'll be coming back the next time we're in Ottawa.

Liked the convenience of being able to walk to Byward Market and its restaurants. Very cose to Parliament Hill and the Gallery of Art. Next door parking garage was also very conveneient. Heard very little noise from our neighbors or the neighborhood.

Everything we wanted to see was in walking distance. Parking is much to be desired. Very expensive if parking in the parking garage. Hard to find a street parking spot. Ottawa is a beautiful city. Other than the parking we had a great time!! The Inn is a nice place to stay.

How to explain Byward blue, Inn. It is Europian in all ways. Well placed, comfortable, nice service, very knowledgeable and helpful staff, and right on the edge of everything. Hotel had a very bright and cheerful atmosphere when we walked in...very clean, cute local art work... Staff was very friendly and helpful... I was pleasantly surprised to see that the rooms were quite spacious with tall ceilings and it was very clean...I appreciated the additional amenities which were included in the rooms, (i.e. a fridge)... The "Continental […] Breakfast" that was included in the room rate actually included eggs (for soft or hard boiling only), which was a step above most continental breakfasts offered out there! Overall it was a very nice experience with a very good value, so I would recommend this B&B to anyone staying in Ottawa - especially those who are touring the downtown area (location was GREAT - right in the heart of the Byward Market and only about a 10 min walk from the Parliament Building). Excellent little hotel, friendly, good service, nice breakfast included in price. Covered parking next door if you don't want to park on the street and centrally located with everything in walking distance. Room clean and nicely decorated - not five-star but it does not claim to be. For the price, perfect.

Very conveniently located next to the market. It's a small hotel in between some apartments in a quiet end of the street. Parking garage is very small and tight, but at least it's reasonable price and you get in and out privileges. Breakfast was weak (bagels, muffins, etc) but at least the dining room area was nice. My only other gripe was that there […] were not enough towels in the room. And maybe that the little folding chairs in the rooms were a bit flimsy and looked like they would break if you sat in one. I would totally stay there again though. Loved the wood floors and comfy beds with all white bedding. Nice staff! Overall great stay! Mehr

I was very impressed with the service, location and price. The rooms are spacious, with microwave, coffee maker and fridge. As an experience traveller, these elements really make the difference, especially if you are tired (and impoverished!) of trying to find restaurants for three meals a day. The Inn has a continental breakfast and coffee in the morning […] as well, plus free wifi. I've stayed in 5 star hotels that don't offer this much! The location is perfect as well. True, Ottawa isn't a huge city to navigate, but the Inn is close to everything that you'd want to see. We will definitely stay there again. The service was helpful. We arrived early and the Inn happily stored our bags for us while we visited Ottawa's market and downtown areas. Also, because of our race, we had to arrange a late check-out and the Inn was very nice about that too. We completely recommend this place. Mehr

The hotel is very well located, and the balcony makes it feel more like an appartment where you can feel at home. A very, very short walk from the Market, the National Gallery and lovely parks.

Byward Blue Inn in Ottawa is a short walk from many of the attractions in the city, and just north of the very nice Market area. But the place itself was cheaply furnished, in need of a renovation, and noisy, both when it came to noise from the hall and noise coming from outdoors in the courtyard. The night staff were rude, the parking was awkward, […] the phones and fixtures were cheap. We were required to put a $100 credit card deposit on a pre-paid room, which is completely out of the ordinary. I would not stay there again. Mehr
