very nice place. my only suggestion is ot be careful on the number of people you hope to fit in each room. i was told 3 could fit in my room but the couch was a love seat and we only had a king bed.

Spent 3 nights in El Portal Suites toward the end of October 2012. The bed was comfortable and the location was fine but the rooms were past their prime. The towels were worn and there were rips in the curtains. The rooms need to be updated; the breakfast room already seems to have had an update.

Very nice hotel, friendly staff. Located right on the Plaza Chile and 3 blocks from Independence plaza so very conviently located. Main shopping street and super market is 1 block away and also lots of shopping by independence plaza. Great restaraunts 3 blocks away. Main park is an easy 20 minute walk. The hotel is situated opposite the Plaza de Chile & our room had a balcony overlooking it, which was great. The room was spacious & comfortable & was a pleasant change from small hotel rooms. The staff were very helpful in pointing out things to do in town, and importantly, choose a wine tour to suit us. It was our honeymoon and they also organised […] a great bottle of wine for us, as well as some beautiful flowers, which impressed my wife. The hotel is very central to the main restaurants etc in Mendoza, and walking around was fine... cab rides seldom exceded 20 Arg Pesos (+-USD 4) for getting around town. The room service whipped up a superb fillet with malbec sauce when we arrived home after wine tasting all day and didn't have the energy to go out... so all in all it was a great stay on all levels. Cooking equipment is provided, but is very basic & you can't really do much with it. They don't provide any tea/ coffee/ milk & sugar, but this service does not seem to be normal in Argentina anyway, so can't take points away for that. I would definitely stay here again! We had an excellent stay at El Portal. The staff were very friendly and helped with organising excursions. El Portal was in a very convenient location, the rooms were large and well equipped. We would certainly return there on another trip.

the front desk persons weree quite good. very helpful. only ONE internet and VER,VERY slow. Area had a robbery. Not good.

great place to stay, staff was very helpful, felt really safe in the area, across the street from plaza chile and near a big supermarket. stayed in 2 different rooms here - first 2 nites in one large room and last nite in a smaller room..yet they were the same price? didn't really understand that. both rooms had a little kitchen and living room area […] which was nice. good breakfast. Loved the amount of space you get in your room at this hotel. Basically two rooms in one as there is a bedroom and then a seperate, living room dining area with a small kitchenette. Very nice and it's in a great location to walk everywhere in down town Mendoza. The fron desk will even arrange tours to wine country or high Andes for you.

We found this hotel to be staffed with helpful, friendly and responsive staff. The room was clean and comfortable. However, there was a problem with both air conditioners. Each problem was addressed promptly and to our complete satisfaction. The morning complimentary breakfast was simple but more than satisying. The location is very convient to restaurants […] and stores and is located across from Plaza de Chile which is a beautiful place to take a morning and evening walk! Hotel staff spoke English and were very helpful from tours to general questions about the city. Breakfast was good and rooms were spacious. It was a good experience.

The hotel staff was excellent, most of which spoke very good english which was a great help to use. The hotel is located across from one of the main plazas in town which made for a very relaxed and social setting. Every place we needed to go was well within walking distance. El Portal will be my first choice of hotels when I reutn to Mendosa.

Very spacious rooms though minimal kitchen utensils. TV reception was terrible and the overall impression of the hotel given by the website seemed a tad misleading. The rooms are quite old though present as modern through good use of photography. Rooms were large, the heating was very good, the beds were comfortable and the hotel location was very good. Only two things let the hotel down. 1. The showers. Bathroom itself was fine, but the shower had very little pressure and the water temperature was only just above luke warm. 2. Breakfast service. The food was fine but the service was terrible. […] They were not regularly topping up items or when they did take items away for top up, they would not return for 5 minutes. Getting the breakfast you were hoping for was more luck on timing than anything else. Mehr

Hotel com quartos tipo apartamento bastante amplos e limpos, atendimento cordial e prestativo. Silencioso e confortável, sem luxo mas bastante aconchegante. Cama confortável, eletrônicos em funcionamento. Wi-fi grátis com boa conexão para aqueles que se mantêm logados. Café da manhã poderia ser um pouco mais variado. Recomendado.

Boa localização, funcionarios atenciosos, quarto muito bom, amplo e limpo. Só fica a desejar um pouco na ducha ( mas me pareçe que todas são a gás na Argentina, depois do primeiro dia me adaptei ) e o café da manha é gostoso mas com pouca variedade.

no geral o hotel é muito bom e correspondeu nossa espectativa, muito bem localizado, pessoalmuito educado e prestativo. O ponto negativo ficou por conta da cama de casal que é composto por duas camas solteiro, se juntar o casal no meio da cama ela se abre.

Muy buen servicio, limpio, todo bien. La unica queja es que habia otros huespedes que hacian mucho ruido, se escuchan los pasos por los pasillos, escaleras y los portasos. Aire acondicionado / calefactor sin mantencion, tenia bastante polvo en los filtros y era imposible apagarlo (habia que cortar la luz principal de la habitacion). O hotel esta muito bem localizado, os funcionários são muito atenciosos. O quarto é imenso e muito limpo. Pontos negativos é que pedi um quarto de casal e na verdade eram 2 camas de solteiro unidas, um pouco desconfortável. O chuveiro era quente, porém antigo com pouca pressão e o café da manhã era razoável.
