Sheraton Columbia Downtown Hotel - Columbia

Room wasn't ready until 330pm. The sliding glass door in the shower was cracked. Unexpected perk tv in bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Staff were friendly. Overall good experience.

Loved the charm...from the Vault Lounge to the Rooftop Bar to the dark hardwood floors of our room. Very reasonably priced! Will definitely return during football season!

the hotel is blocks away from many of the best sights in Columbia, but the Downtown area hasnot caught on to the revitalization of many other Downtowns. There was literally only one restaaurant other than the ones in hotels in the area. It is an excellent hotel, however.

My only complaint? There isn't much going on in downtown Columbia at night.The hotel itself is amazing --and the restaurant in the basement is excellent as is the Vault bar. I just wish downtown Columbia had more going on.

Nice historic hotel in an old bank. We had a very nice corner room with great natural light. Cool bar in the vault. Rooftop bar. A longer walk to Colonial Center then other hotels we have used but overall a good hotel. We would stay at the Sheraton again.

Stayed one might so we could attend concert at Colonial Life Center. Location was convenient to concert, vista area (restaurants) and local shops.

The hotel staff is very helpful and the building itself is beautiful. The room we got was a bit small but it was still comfortable. The beds are great. There were a few small issues in the cleanliness of the room when we got there but nothing that was serious. Overall this is an excellent hotel and should be considered when staying in Columbia.

The only issue we had with the hotel was the communication between the front desk and the cleaning crew. We called at 10 to see if we could check in earlier than 3 and they said it was fine. We came in at 1, checked in and headed up to our room. We definitely startled the hotel maid who informed us that our room was not ready for us. We went back downstairs […] and waited with our bags for 25 minutes. The front desk clerks never asked us if there was an issue with our room. We appreciated them letting us check in early but wish that they had taken the time to make sure that the room was actually ready. The front desk clerk also did not tell us what time check out was. Nice hotel but twenty bucks to park? Seriously? Ten bucks for Internet? Great location and bed was nice. They have a free Internet spot downstairs using their computers only. Coffee shop didn't open till seven am on Sunday morning

Love the Sheraton -- by far my favorite place to stay in Columbia!

We had actually booked our stay at the Sheraton as a layover stay because we had booked another hotel for the followi.g night. We absolutely loved staying there, the ameneties were great and so was the staff.

The Sheraton Downtown is a historic building in downtown Columbia that is very close and convenient to many points of interest. The hotel provided a driver to take you and pick you up from a 2 mile radius which was very nice because parking is troublesome. However, the hotel kept the public areas VERY cold as if the heat was not functioning properly. […] We were also located right next to the service access and we heard dishes crashing all night and very early in the morning. Beautiful old building with "old" being the key word. The shower was cracked in the corner and every time we took a shower water leaked through the wall into the bedroom floor. Our TV wouldn't work and would flash "no signal" across the screen. I mentioned it at checkout and the clerk nonchalantly replied that some of the TV's are like that and then […] told us how to fix it- this would have been helpful BEFORE we checked out. The room next to us was rented to kids having a party and it took over an hour and multiple calls to the desk before we finally got the noise stopped (even though I was told we weren't the only ones who had complained). For the most part the room was clean, but the shower was quite moldy and the glass on the desk desperately needed cleaning. All of this and did they even offer us a discount on our next stay? No. Overall a nice hotel but it needs some maintenance and better customer service. I'm hoping this stay was just a fluke. Mehr

Such a wonderful hotel with friendly staff. Concierge drove us where we needed to go and made our stay simple and satisfying. Right near Capital building, feels very historic.

This newly redecorated hotel was wonderful! The staff was extremely helpful. I was able to use the hotel's shuttle service to go to and from the Koger center. The food at the hotel was supreme!

Service Exclent!!!

Great staff, very friendly. Southern hospitality at its best. Super comfortable bed. Low point was cost to use the Internet. Internet access should be free and not $9.95 a day. Had my own Verizon 4G wireless card with me so I avoided the charge.

It felt like the staff of this hotel were part of a reality show managing a hotel for the first time. Friendly on the outset, but did not perform well. disappointing.

Stopped in Columbia SC during our romantic trip to the Smokies from FLA.... Sheraton Hotel was located central to everything downtown including the state capitol, trendy restaurants and nightlife. The hotel itself was very clean and modern. The 17th floor rooftop bar was awesome along with the first floor vault! The room and view was wonderful. This hotel does not offer free wi-fi in rooms. Charge is $9.95 per usage day. However, there is a small flat screen TV mounted in bathroom to make up for lack of free internet.

We checked in and everything seemed fine. The hotel staff seemed very unorganized. We were not asked if we needed help with our luggage. The next morning we ordered room service and it never showed! Nearly 3 hours later it was time to check out and our room service was coming out of the elevator as we were getting on the leave. Again no one offered […] to help with our bags. All they did was give us excuses as to why we didn't get our breakfast. The entire thing was disappointing. Unfortunately we will not be staying at that Sheraton for a while. Mehr

The hotel is lovely, but the window shades in my room were completely broken and laying on the window sill. The shade was needed as my room was directly across from a streetlight. The hotel quickly moved me to another room but it was smaller and near the elevator. These things happen, I guess.

This hotel was converted from an old bank, the hotel lobby brings the old teller style, along with a huge iron cast volt as center piece in the corner! Hotel was renovated recently, and looks great. The rooms are extremely small to the extent that you can not move your bag in the room. Walls are paper thin, good luck sleeping...

This was a great hotel. The location was nice, convenient to the State House, the main part of downtown, and a couple of restaurants and bars (though not as many as the Vista area). The room was exquisite. The space was slightly (and I do mean slightly) on the small side, but the layout was extremely efficient. The finishings were exquisite. And the […] bathroom -- oh my god. The bathroom was perfection! In any hotel, the bathroom is always the most important part to me. It was gorgeous and very large with a huge walk-in shower. We were there for only one night but everything was fantastic. The architecture including the beautiful hardwood floors really set this hotel apart. You will not be disappointed.

The room was a little cramped with the bed taking up the bulk of the space. The decor was very nice and bright. It had everything you would expect of a room at this level (mini-bar, hair dryer, HD television). Close to the art museum and dining. Called room service for a bottle opener (beer). After several minutes a bartender came to the door with […] her bottle opener and offered to open the beer for me. That was weird... I just wanted someone to bring me a bottle opener and leave it so I didn't have to call them back for each beer. She did come back with a bottle opener I could keep in the room. Mehr

I was very happy with this hotel! I usually dread staying at motels/hotels because I am such a germ freak. I would stay here again. My husband was graduating from Fort Jackson so it was about 15 minutes away- not bad. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

Stayed here for my Xmas party and couldn't have been happier with my choice. Rooms were exquisite as was the rest of the hotel. We stayed in a corner room and it was one of two rooms on each floor that has a jacuzzi tub, might want to ask for this when you make reservations. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only checked out the Main Street bar on the […] lower level, but want to go back to vist the rooftop and Posh. I would definitely recommend to anyone. Mehr

The waiters in the rooftop restaurant helped themselves to $35 tips on my $14 bill, which I paid by credit card. When I checked out the next morning, I noticed a $49 "room charge". I asked to have that error corrected, and the the staff assured me that they would. After I returned home, however, I saw that the "room charge" was still there. I called […] again. Originally reserved one room. Checked in requesting a 2nd room next to each other. Front desk did not inform us that the 2nd room would be of handicap accomodations. Requested the following morning that our locked refrigerator be checked as we could not open it with the key. Guest Services stated that someone would be up. We left for the day, and returned […] to the service order not being completed. Had to call again. Went to dine at the MainStreet Restaurant. The Bartender and the Server noted our arrival, but did not welcome us in any fashion. We had to seat ourselves (party of six), nor did anyone come to provide us with menus until I got up and went over to the bar and asked if we would be serviced since we had been sitting without even a menu for 13 minutes. The server came over and could not provide any answers to our questions. All of his responses were...I do not know. We had to ask him on several occassion to consult with someone that does know as we would like answers prior to placing our order. The quality of food was deplorable. Our pasta dishes were soaked in lemon and we even found lemon seeds in our pasta! The room service food was also not of expectant quality. I ordered breakfast and my omelet was very greasy. I had to request the 2nd day that the omelet be prepared in very little grease. The bellman staff was very very cordial and polite. The rooms were clean even though I did not want a handicap room. Our 1.5 pound Yorkie was permitted to stay without a deposit which was very convenient. Everything else in relation to location was great. F&B needs a 360 in the level of service provided to guests and the quality of food also needs a 360. A simple acknowledgement of hello, someone will be with your momentarily would have been sufficient. My entire party including kids were not satisfied with the food and the unappreciated wait at the Main Street Restaurant. I would stay here again for sure. Beautiful old building that was renovated. Great roof top bar. We were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge. Staff was great. University of SC beat Kentucky, just to add to our fun...

This is one of the most prominent historic buildings in downtown Columbia. The owners recently rehabilitated it about two years ago, and it is a wonderful place to stay! If you want a centrally located hotel in Columbia- this is the place to be. It also has a great roof deck bar and good restaurants!

The room was nice, small, but nice. However watch and be prepared for hidden cost. Such as parking (which I am sure is for any downtown hotel), breakfast, all the way down to the bottle of water that is left that we thought was complimentary until after we opened it and read the note that stated it was $3.50. Not sure why but guest services was at our […] door knocking repeatedly at 7am, then housekeeping shortly after. Check out time wasn't until noon, and we had planned on sleeping in for a nice change, needless to say, that didnt really happen. We did enjoy the room overall, and in comparison to others we saw, would recommend and stay again if needed. Not a bad hotel. Mehr

Nice hotel, but our room was right by the elevator and they played loud music on in house speakers outside our room.

While this hotel is very convenient to downtown Columbia, we did not find it to be one that we would really like to use again. We arrived around 10:30 PM. The valet outside greeted us and took the car, no problem. Upon entering the lobby there were three employees standing at a desk talking...no one greeted us. We had to ask if that was where we checked […] in. After checking in the female asked if there was anything we needed to know. I asked for directions to the Coliseum. She said that she didn't really know that she wasn't from around there. No offer of further assistance.Another guest told us that it was two blocks away. Mehr

This is a nice hotel. My husband and I stayed here on the way to the beach. We will probably not stay in downtown again unless we need to. We were impressed with the service, amenities, and comfort of the room. The room was small, but there was plenty of natural light and plenty of space for moving around. The floors are hardwood, which is a little […] different, still pleasing to the eye. We got a good rate, but were a little disappointed about parking. We either had to park outside at a parking meter, where we would have to get up early and feed the meter or we had to valet park at a fairly high rate. They valet parked our car on the street in the hot sun. There is a rooftop bar, which is nice. The breakfast was okay. We came later in the morning and a lot of it was no longer fresh. This was not included with our room price. We were happy with the hotel overall, it was just more expensive than it seemed to be initially. However, the rate on the hotel was a fair rate. Mehr
