Find a good hotel in Chiang Mai is hard, but the Shangri-La is a real diamond. It is in a superb location, only minutes from the Night Bazaar and short tuk tuk ride to the restaurants on the Ping River. Hotel is just beautiful and so grand. Everything in ths hotel is excellent , except the location. There is nothing much around the hotel. So I wish the hotel can arrange the free shuttle for the guest between hotel to shopping center and night market .

I knew that the hotel would be nice and was not disappointed. however I was dismayed at the cost of breakfast ($20 per person; which I was led to believe was part of the initial cost) laundry and use of phone. This was our 3rd holiday stay at this hotel. The staff and the facilities are great for kids. The restaurant is very good and the pool is excellent. The gym is modern ans the spa, although pricey, is amazing.

The Shangri-La hotel is a very good choice when visiting Chiang Mai. The rooms are large, very comfortable, and clean. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The swimming pool and the gardens are great. The staff is friendly and well qualified. I truly enjoyed my stay at the Shangri-La.

We have stayed at the Shangri-La, Chiang Mai four times now. Every time we choose to stay on the club floor. The service is warm, welcoming and accommodating. The Morning buffet served in the club lounge is excellent, with multiple buffet selections as well as made to order eggs, pancakes and waffles. The hotel and staff were awesome. We were a family of 16 ranging from 3 to 82 and all had positive experiences. Concierge service especially George were very helpful. Definitely will stay in this hotel again. Club access on the 12th floor well worth every penny!

The people are very nice and the location great, and the hotel super clean etc. THe reason this does not get a five is the restaurant, the chef was clearly just mailing it in, the food was very average to outright terrible. If you skip the restaurant and go out for all your meals, you will have a great stay at the Shangri La. Enjoy!

The Shangri-La is located in town a short walk from the night market. The breakfast buffet and a la carte is exceptional. The lobby bar has live music most evenings. The pool and its bar are delightful. It is also very reasonably priced.

Stayed in the Horizon Club rooms (10-12th floor); excellent views and happy hour in the Horizon Club lounge, not to mention the complimentary breakfast buffet, also in the lounge. The night markets are 5 minutes away on foot (turn right out of the hotel), together with all the tailors you could ever wish for :-)

We were visiting Chiang Mai for the first time. We were very pleased at our choice of the Shangri-La. We stayed on the Concierge floor...10-12 and found the staff, the amenities, the service (breakfast, cocktail hours,etc) excellent. We needed some changes with our flight back to BKK and they were more than helpful getting our flight changed! And we […] treated oursleves to a spa massage and it was wonderful!! Highly recommended!! My only negative...and not terrible...was that the restuarant was a buffet...and tried to accommodate all nationalities....and many things were done in a mediocre manner. Some very good things...ie: salad bar.....but I have to say, it was Chinese New Years and many large tour groups crowding the buffet....so that could have been the problem. But all in all....would stay there again. And a close walk to night market!! Mehr

The Shangri-La in Chiang Mai met all our expectations. Our room was very clean and spacious (plenty of room for 3 adults), and the amenities were excellent. The location was great, walking distance to the night market and very good restaurants. We will stay there again the next time we visit this wonderful city.

The room was nice, shower and tub, comfortable bed. Wonderful pool. Staff were nice for the most part. Not all of them as they decide who they need to be nice to. spa is very expensive. Breakfast is good but expensive. They offer a pickup at airport but better off taking a taxi which is really cheap and 10 mins ride to Hotel. Overall good Hotel

We stayed in the Chiang Mai Horizon Club Executive Suite for 6 nights and hoping to have the quality of the Bangkok Horizon Club Lounge duplicated there. Up grade to the Horizon Rooms. They come with a Thai buffet breakfast, free drinks and snacks all day long and a free open bar and heavy snacks every evening. It was a great value for the money.

there was only one small disappoinment with the tennis court that was under rennovation without advance notice when I booked the room a month ahead. However, the duty manager offered to take us to the nearby community court which was in terrible condition. Everthing else was excellent. We'll stay there again.

Outstanding in every way...except 1 - we booked a Horizon club room to be able to use the Lounge for a little peacefull relaxation in the slot between getting back from the days activity and going for supper. I planned to stay for 10 days and unfortunately I had an accident on the 5th day of my stay. I was hospitalized for 20 days with a broken leg.
