Has an awesome pub. Right across the street from the ocean and nice walking trail. Loved our stay here

The lift was broken in the hotel and I had to climb the stairs with my bag. I was not able to get a glass of water delivered to my room. Corridors were shabby.

We were disappointed with the White Sands for a couple of reasons. We stayed on a Saturday night and were hoping for a late drink in the residents bar when we got back to the hotel but there wasn't one. Also on the Sunday morning the hot water in the room wasn't working and we had to check out without a shower. The location is very nice with a lovely […] view. There was a nice homely atmosphere in the hotel bar and the staff were very nice. Mehr

We were initially put in a room in the old part of the hotel with a view of the beach. The room was tatty and tired, and the window was small which canceled out the beach view. However, the helpful front desk staff was able to put us into a room in the new part of the hotel which made a world of difference. They arranged cab service for us to the airport […] and it arrived promptly on time. This is a lovely little seaside town and a nice place to wrap up a trip to Ireland if you want to avoid downtown Dublin. The key is staying in the new section of the hotel. Mehr

we stayed in this hotel for one night to watch the prince concert and to be honest i had read some reviews and was worried , but i needn't have been , the hotel has some faults ie outdated public area that need doing up but the room we stayed had been recently renovated and was very comfortable the staff couldnt be more helpful . to the people who have […] complained about this hotel i say you get what you pay for and to get a hotel on the beach for what we paid it was a bargain Mehr

The hotel itself was quite nice. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The pub is very homey and has a warm ambience. The breakfast is twelve Euro and good except for the eggs. I ordered eggs and they were runny, which shouldn't be since they were scrambled. There is really nowhere else to go for breakfast unfortunately. The wifi is basically […] a coin operated computer just beyond the lobby and it is about 1 Euro for 7 mins. Stay elsewhere if you want wifi. The location is right on the beach, which is great but there are no eateries in close proximity. Malahide town center is a 30 to 45 min walk and a great walk at that but not while you're hungry. There is a rustic feel to the hotel that can be mistaken for shabbiness. The view of the water from the sitting area upstairs was awesome. I had lunch in the pub for about 8 Euro and it was delicious. I was hungry around 9pm and there were only vending machines available. I walked to Malahide and found a deli there and then walked back, which was over an hour total. Not fun. There is a bus that takes you into central Dublin that you catch across the street from the hotel. It takes quite a while though, as it is far from town. Alternatively you can catch the train in Malahide or Portmarnock for about 4 Euro or 8 Euro for unlimited day travel. A taxi will cost much more. For the beach alone, the hotel is worth the distance from the city center but be sure to plan your meals accordingly. Mehr

This hotel has added on a new wing, and at first we thought that the problems with air conditioner were due to it not being ready for occupation, but there were several stains in the carpet and upholstered items already. We switched rooms due to the lack of air (still no air, but at least on top floor facing east) and the new room had several cigarette […] burns in the upholstery. After talking to our neighbors that were also being moved we found out that there was no hot water either. It was a Sunday so there was no maintenance crew to call. We were given a room in the "old wing"....which was VERY old that we could use to shower in and sleep in the other room. Very inconvenient since we were to be up at 5:30am to get ready for our flight. The receptionist tried her best to help, but we were just not satisfied with our experience. We were on vacation for 14 days and this was the worst hotel experience we had on our journey. Mehr

Great location right on the Irish Sea. Great walking area on a wide beach. Easy, cheap and goods views for the bus ride to downtown Dublin. Nice rest. / bar when you return. Golf nearby. 20 euro cab ride from airport. About 15 min.Everything was good about this hotel and area. I stayed in downtown Dublin and Shannon before. I will go back to White Sands. Everyone at the hotel was super friendly and willing to help out with us going different places around Dublin. The receptionists where always greeting us as we walked in and made sure we were having a good stay. The fact that there was a bar and a nightclub [on the weekends] also made this a perfect getaway place., didn't have to worry about staying […] too late in the city and then having to pay for a taxi. It was a such a great experience and I would definitely recommend anyone who wants a nice ocean front view and doesn't mind a scenic bus ride to the city centre to choose to stay at the White Sands. =] Mehr

This hotel is located across the road from the beach. I was very pleased with my room which had a view of the sea. Used the business area but could not access WiFi and when I asked at reception I was told I didn't need a code but still couldn't get it. Would love to come back again on a sunny summers day to stay.

Very nice hotel, spacious and pleasant, clean room and bathroom. I went there during unexpected snow fall, but there was no problem with heating - the room was warm and cosy. Good room service. I haven't used the restaurant. The only minus is a nightclub, which is a part of hotel complex. To sleep on Saturday night is a bit difficult. Apart from that […] I would recommend the hotel. this would have been a great location to stay, unfortuniatly there was a problem with the plumbing and behind the bed the was a periodic electro macanical noise that kept me awake for most of the night. other wise the staff were greate and the hotel was fine

This hotel was in a area that didn't have much around it besides suburban properties. Fortunately the guy at the rental car company knew it well since he goes to the nightclub at the hotel and could give us good directions - otherwise would have been hard to find at night in dark. When we checked in (~11pm) there was a line outside the nightclub - it […] was Halloween and it was the party spot. Depsite being put at the far end of the hotel (away from nighclub) the room vibrated from the music till nightclub closed at 3 am. I suspect it was louder than normal due to holiday party. The weather was pretty rotten when we were there so walking on beach wasn't a great option - in nice weather that would be a bonus. Room was clean - beds comfortable; think we were in the new wing of the hotel so nice room for the price. Mehr

I stayed in this hotel for my brothers wedding and there was another family wedding in this hotel I would not stay the night. The residence bar closed at three and they did not allow for guests to go into the residnce bar after the disco - not even the bridesmaid. The room was dreary, the bathroom did not have shower gel nor shower caps - and there […] is no shower caps available when I phoned down to receiption. The blankets and sheets were burned with cigarettes and smelled of stale smoke. We were accomodated by having a late breakfast that was cold and charged 18eur for it for the expereince. The White Sands is in a beautiful part of Ireland. Really close to the airport (10 min drive). It was only 15 min to Croke Park driving. We initially planned on getting rid of our car and using public transportation but after we saw how it worked we decided that we would be wasting to much time waiting for buses etc. It is not close enough to walk anywhere […] except on the gorgeous beach :) The phone lines were down one day and the room could have used a fan but other then that we were thrilled with our stay at the White Sands! i stayed in the white sand's hotel in portmarnock for four night's...during my stay i had to eat out every morning afternoon & evening as the kitchen was CLOSED under renovation!!this was a terrible inconvience to me & i did report it to reception,I was told by the receptionist that i would be contacted through email or phone to discuss this as nobody […] would address the problem with me while i was staying there nedless to say i have had no contact yet & was charged in full for my accomodation with no discount or concession what so ever I was very annoyed!! i was also disgusted at the wi fi charges & the cost to use the hotel computer internet acess €1 for seven minutes!!! This Hotel is very nice and right on the beach. The only bad thing i have to say is there is no air conditioning and it got really hot in the room at night. The location is a little out of the ways but it is worth it. The bus picks up right outside the hotel and will take you were ever you need to go.

stayed on night of 31/05/09 clean rooms, amenable staff, adequate car parking, see no reason why I would not choose to return

Very nice hotel, great view, good service, night club beside the hotel - but not disturbing.
