I like the Super 8- it was clean, staff is very friendly, helpful. Location- excellent for me. Few things could be better: mattresses are way to soft, breakfast- poor choice+ unhealthy: for the same price could be offered brown toast (or bread) instead of only white, less sweets+ one egg or healthy cereal or a little cheese. Good location on route 9, with easy access to everything. Room was perfectly comfortable and clean. Good quality mattresses. Decent value for visits to Vassar, Marist, Hyde Park. Only two drawbacks. First, the continental breakfast is about as basic as it could get. Couldn't you at least pretend it's a healthy meal and put a bowl of fruit out as an […] option? Secondly, the walls and ceilings are thin and noise from nearby rooms could ultimately be a problem on busy nights. The dead bolt was missing a screw we went out of room shut Door and dead bolt locked us out Had to get something from desk to open door he said this happened last night too ! I would think they would fix the problem if a Customer already got locked out once

I guess you get what you pay for. The bed and pillows were miserable! The room was huge but there also wasn't much hot water and the heater didn't work well either despite how noisey it was.

Floors are very squeeky and if you are on the first floor it is hard to sleep. I could not hear the television with the volume all the way up. People at the desk were friendly and very nice. I would stay there again if I had to. I stayed during the Hurricane Sandy event and a lot of the utility workers were coming and going so all the squeeking floors […] made it hard to sleep.It is an older hotel and in need of updating. There are several issue which need to be commented about. 1. There were cobwebs in my room and I found a spider (not associated with the cobwebs) on my bed. 2. We recently stayed @ the Super 8 in Poughkeepsie when dropping off our son for his 1st yr @ Vassar. The room was a nice size, clean, & had all the amenities we needed & was in a nice location.. all for a reasonable price. My only complaint was we did not know how to work the shower ...was different from anything I've seen so far. What complicated matter […] was a piece was missing from the tub leading us to believe it was the issue. The front desk did not come to our aid & asked a housekeeper who also declined ...perhaps because of a language barrier ...she was Hispanic. Finally she contacted "Angel" who was likely maintenance. He arrived in 25 minutes or so but we had figured it out by then. It was an inconvenience & slowed us up for our day of moving Mikey into his dorm. My only other complaint was the free breakfast was rather sparse & some items were out by the time we ate both mornings. Mehr

The lobby was full of trash and when I checked in I asked the woman if there was place close by I could grab a sandwich and her response was I don't know. There are two Subways and a Panera in very close for future reference. **THEY TAKE AN IMPRINT OF YOUR CREDIT CARD AT CHECK IN AND IT IS LEFT AT THE FRONT DESK UNATTENDED UNTIL YOU CHECK OUT** The […] woman then checked me into a smoking room and when I walked into the 90 degree ashtray of a room I called to ask her if it was a smoking room and she said no. When I explained the awful smell she said oh yea I guess it is a smoking room and gave me keys to a non-smoking room. I do have to say my new room was clean. The bathroom had granite countertops and was pretty spotless and the carpet looked well vacumed. The bedspread had holes and wasn't in the best condition but the sheets were clean. When I checked out Kumar was much more friendly than the woman who checked me in and noticed I had switched rooms and asked how I liked the new room which I thought was very nice. I would not stay here again, but if this is your only option I would say go with extremely low expectations. Mehr

I stayed on the first floor and could hear everything above me from the people in the room above me, I could also hear the people outside my door very clearly talking as the walked down the hallway. I have to start with the booking of this hotel room I called the 800 number and recieved excellant service. I asked alot of questions about the location and recieved great assistance. We knew we would be arriving after 11 pm and that was handled with no problem. When we arrived the hotel itself does look older. I wasn't sure that was a good thing but […] it was fine. The room really was clean. The mattress seemed new. The heater in the room was abit noisy but that was really the only issue we had and that wasn't a big deal Our son is in college near by and came home on the Easter weekend we brought him back and stayed over there. We would definately stay there again. It was convenient and easy to find. If you are looking for alot of atmosphere. It might not be what you are looking for. If you want a convenient, immaculate, comfort and affordable room it certainly fit the bill. There was a slightly musty odor in the foyer but it seemed to be only there. Mehr

Our room was located next to the laundry room so we woke up to the sound of the washing machine. It was difficult to go to sleep as the guests above us had the TV at a very loud level.
