The pool facilities were nice, but the restaurant food was awful - normally when travelling myself and colleague eat in the hotel as it is convenient, but after the first night we purposefully travelled elsewhere. Booked a 3 night stay special deal on 9th April for 2 adults and 2 kids. On arrival we were asked if we would like beds for the kids! I advised them that as we had booked a room for 2 adults and 2 kids we would expect beds to be provided, but the receptionist seemed to think that this was a some kind of special favour. The room provided did not have […] anywhere for the kids to sleep, so they moved us next door, where there was a sofa bed. Very small however and certainly not for 2 kids of 10 and 8. Maybe 4 and 2! Our youngest child slept on the floor on cushions. The following morning (Tuesday) we went to use the pool, only to be informed by the leisure facilities manager that the pool could only be used by children between 3pm and 5 pm on a Saturday and Sunday and not at all during the week. Not much use to us then on our stay from Monday to Thursday! The reason for this is that the pool is open to non residents who pay a subscription, and I guess they don't want pesky kids interrupting their fun by enjoying themselves in the pool! At the time there was just one person using the pool. As you can imagine the kids were quite upset. The actual hotel/room itself was clean and in good condition, and the breakfasts were satsifactory. But this hotel is geared more for adults/conferences etc. Do not take your kids there and expect them to be welcome/entertained! Mehr

found the hotel very nice staff were all friendly and the pool and spa were clean and not to busy food in hotel restuarant was very good especially the breakfast well worth it. also had evening meal which was very good would certainly go back and would also recommend to family and friends.

Great location & facilities. Food was adequate and staff very helpful. However due to a number of large weddings that took over the whole of the bar & restaurant area, their was a lack of service and had to walk through wedding party to access room which was arkward. Bar food was overpriced and not as stated on menu. Newspaper ordered not delivered […] and no alternative given despite request. Mehr

on arrival, we were not greeted by a member of staff despite three people 'manning' the desk. Eventually someone did check us in but was interrupted twice by another staff member asking something. We were then told our children could not use the leisure facilities as it is only open to then for 2 hours and then only at weekends. The website does not […] explain this clearly enough. The room we had, although spacious, was not that comfortable. The sheets were stiff, the children s bed were only camp beds and there were not enough towels for the 4 of us. The shower was very weak and was nonadjustable. This was the first time I have stayed in a Principal Hayley hotel and will probably be my last. Mehr

First impressions are important and Nicola on reception is superb, warm,welcoming,efficient and flexible in her approach. It is quite refreshing that Eastwood Hall employs mainly local Staff who consistently deliver an excellent service. Staff are courteous and friendly. Breakfast was great- fresh and hot. Room clean. Bed too soft. Would be better if firmer. Surrounding- very serene

The tv had very few channels and there was some dust in the room around the lamps.

As usual, a very enjoyable stay. Absolutely no complaints at all.

Read not so positive reviews about this hotel and nearly didn't book, so glad that I did. Staff were lovely throughout especially in the restaurant, got a fab deal with hotels.com, beautiful grounds, great food and facilities! rooms not the poshest but clean and comfortable, there is a great welcome for children and extra beds in the room are great. […] Swimming pool and facilities great though restricted times for children a bit harsh. Firstly, may I say I stay in hotels over 200 days of the year and work all over the country for about a week at a time. My room was lovely, very spacious and far larger then I expected. There was a good size work area to accomadate my laptop and paperwork. The rooms were well equiped and even had a trouser press which always impresses me although I've […] never actually used one in my life. My room had a safe that my laptop fitted nicely in although I did use it, it was because it was there rather then because I felt the need to use it. The hotel looks lovely from the outside and was well presented throughout and is clearly large enough to have a huge function if required. The hotel is set in lovely grounds with ample parking. The staff all seamed lovely and it was nice to see them enjoy their Christmas party. I used the complimentary gym and pool use every evening which was clean, well equiped and never to busy on a night. The steam room was the steamiest steam room I've ever been in. Thank you to the staff who looked after it and for making me feel welcome. The reception staff were great and offered plenty of suggestions of local places to eat, I didn't personally eat in the hotel for breakfast or dinner, but the restaurant looked very nice and the menu tasty. I think to those people who have previously moaned about noise in the hotel on a night, I think you have to be realistic that people have to move around and return to their room if you expect something different you should stay home. My stay was lovely, there was a function on one evening, but the rooms are detached from the area so I never heard a peep. I would definately return with work or with my family if the need arrised and I thank everyone for making my stay as pleasent as it can be when working away from home. Mehr

Rooms large and clean. Pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room all excellent. Good breakfast. Restaurant menu not varied enough. Bar service appalling, waited 20 minutes with only 2 people in front of us, staff didn't seem to know prices and were working on wedding party not rest of staff. Well located hotel, with friendly, welcoming staff. Long walk to some of the rooms, but otherwise most comfortable. We used the hotel purely as a base for exploring the East Midlands and were most satsfied.

For a hotel of this rating one would expect to get some than just the basics but basics is all you get. In the bathroom, the shower-gel ecc are cheep ones; complementary includes a tea bag per person; and at breakfast eggs are partly in powder, fruit only out of a tin and no fresh baked bread. Shame that the children were only allowed in the pool between 3 and 5. No advance warning, no morning session. Could have been better.

Ideal place to stay for visiting Nottingham. D.H. Lawrence museum down the road is worth a visit.

The hotel's facilities are very good and the public areas well appointed and with plenty of different seating/lounge areas. I found my room comfortable but a little bland somehow.

Good - Nice scenery from the entrance and hall way - Good location. Bad - Very old decor in the rooms and bathroom. - No air condition. - Distance from the reception to the rooms is quite long.

We stayed as a family of 4 in July 2011 (2 adults and 2 children) and the kids loved the free internet connection in the room although you had to sign in every 30mins. The pool for the kids was restricted to the hours of 3-5pm which was very poor so we didn't get to use this despite staying 2 nights. Disappointed with the buffet breakfast as many items […] were not replenished although helpfully the kitchen staff did cook some fresh croissants which were delicious but we had to wait 30mins for them!! Hotel is very much geared towards conferences and theme nights which did not really help add to the family appeal. Staff were all very helpful though and happy to help and room was comfortable and clean. Restaurant at the hotel did not really cater for fussy kids. Mehr

This hotel is ideal for the business traveller, families, couples etc. I didn't get a chance to use the leisure facilities or explore the nice grounds, but the dinner and breakfasts were very nice.

Hotel staff extremely helpful - let us check in earlier with no fuss. All staff we had dealings with were so friendly. The double bed in our room however was far too soft and uncomfortable - we had a really broken night's sleep because of it! Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, though we were wise to get there early as later arrivals had to queue […] for some time. The receptionist apologised that my daughter wasn't allowed to swim as children's swimming is 3- 5pm but arranged for us to go to a nearby hotel pool - most appreciated! Mehr

there were a couple of weddings on on the saturday night and therefore breakfast was busy on Sunday, it was quiet on the sunday night and therefore even more so on monday morning. The breakfasts were good, a varied choice, the staff were freindly and helpful. Downside, the room needed updating. wardrobe door hanging off, big square tv with not all the […] channels advertised. £2.50 surcharge for credit card, and a £10.00 surcharge to provide a travel cot. Would I stay again, yes. Would I choose to stay again, no. I am sure there are more modern facilities in the area. Mehr

Lovely large hotel set in beautiful grounds. Lovely breakfast and lovely staff.

The hotel was found easily by my TomTom (post code) and parking is plentiful. First impressions count and indeed the entrance and grounds indicate a high quality facility. The outside feel is that of a golfing venue such as the Belfry with well maintained lawns as well as other recreational activities such as tennis courts etc. The day I visited was […] glorious and sitting on the terrace overlooking an expanse of greenery was very satisfying. Reception is bright and modern and staffed by well informed, polite, helpful and well presented staff. The rooms are a set behind the conferencing facilities which is clearly the main focus of Eastwood Hall. My room (143) was clean and functional with the usual room offerings, but nothing to get excited about. There is also free wifi for 30 minutes at a time which is welcome. The gym, pool, sauna and steam room are very good and a big plus for this hotel and the games room is a nice idea too. Dinner was of high quality with a good menu. I would certainly recommend the menu at 1x course = £15, 2x course £20 and if you could manage a 3rd course just £25. The complementary breads and oils is another nice touch. i will be back soon. I stayed at this hotel for a business trip which was a pity as the hotel and grounds are lovely. The gym is well maintained with a good assortment of equipment and the staff were very friendly.

Eastwood hall is a super setting in which to meet up with friends for a weekend. We found the staff extremely helpful and enjoyed the meals we had there. The rooms were comfortable , very clean and many of them have recently been refurbished. The leisure facilities suited us well. we also found a couple of welcoming pubs in the area and took advantage […] of being so near to both Derbyshire and Nottingham city. Its not often I gush about hotels, but this one was a real surprise. Although there are some beautiful listed features the conference centre has been extended with modern outbuildings and sadly Eastwood Hall doesnt look much from the road. The staff had a fine blend of professional efficiency whilst giving a warm and personal touch. The highlight of our stay was the food. To be honest I didnt have high expectations of the restaurant as these type of hotels tend to have a pretty standard offering. However, Eastwood Hall's Orangery Restaurant was nothing short of gourmet. We had a fantastic three course meal that would have got us twice as much if we'd have stepped out into Nottingham. The rooms were nice. Quite simple, but homely and very clean. My only gripe on the room would be that the walls/doors were thin - meaning you could hear everything going on around. Luckily we werent disturbed too much by this. My advice to anyone with elderly or disabled companions would be request a room on the ground floor near to reception. The walk from the disabled parking bays to our room was about 500 metres. You can park round the back, but it requires steps down a bank and a door code. If I could give one piece of advice to the hotel, it would be to have 2 members of staff on reception during the day, particularly if there is a wedding on. It took me over 20 mins to check in and check out. Staff were very apologietic. Due to the lay out of the hotel, guests are required to walk through the main bar and lounges to get to their rooms. This is OK, but I felt a bit conspicuous wheeling my suitcase through the middle of wedding receptions and corporate functions. Would be better if there was a 'tradesmans' entrance for normal guests. We have enjoyed this Hotel break many times before in both hot and cold weather, each time been great. However we were put in a disabled bathroom room with a sink that came to my husbands knees which was actually very disabling. Had we have been told of this at booking we would not have bothered. Also we needed to relax and the spa was broken so didn't […] do that either. Asked for a table and told the restaurant was being used a Christmas party but we could eat at the bar off a coffee table..Hmmmm.... Plus point staff as lovely as ever, great breakfast but will be checking bathroom/room allocation next time if there is one ... Mehr

Very genuine and friendly staff!

Staff very helpful and friendly, particularly the bar staff working under conditions that were embarrassing to them. 1st night - no Carling lager, 2nd night, no Carling, no Grolsch. 3rd night- no Carling, no Grolsch, no Guinness and no Magners. No malt whiskeys. All ok if you drink Worthington bitter. Alas, most of the guests didn't. No room service […] after 10pm. no night porter service for drinks. When questioned, was told it is not a hotel but a conference centre. Room tidied daily but no removal of empty packets, wrappers or left over glasses of water. Shampoo not replaced. Pleasant enough room but the television is outdated and changes channels itself. All in all an average experience and not what would be expected from a 4 star hotel (if that's what it is). Mehr

My wife and I expected to stay in a Country Manor House Hotel, in fact the Eastwood hall Hotel is not a Manor house Hotel, it is a modern hotel attached to an old manor house. The old manor house forms only a very small part of the building and appears to used only for conferences. The hotel bedrooms are similar to any other modern hotel, there is nothing […] special about them, we thought they were similar to Travel Lodge bedrooms. The hotel is not suitable for families with children as the children can only access the swimming pool complex on Saturdyas and Sundays between 2 and 3 oclock, and the hotels definition of a child is anyone under 18 years of age (old kids eh). The other thing we did not like about the hotel was the habit they have of charging £2.50 for using your credit card, a practice in our opinion only used by 3rd rate sales outlets. They also only had basic channels available on the TV, noy all digital channels were available, and no flat screen tv's. Mehr

Really enjoyed my stay here room was comfortable and clean, staff were very helpfull and polite, ideal location for my trip to Alton Towers and the peak district.

Kort frokosttid (07-09 på hverdager). Hotellet brukes mye til bryllup og konferanser, man kan møte på private tilstelninger i lobbyområdet/baren. Da vi kom på en lørdag var det 2 parallelle bryllup, slik at det falt seg ikke natulig å bruke restauranten til middag. Hotellet ligger landlig til, med kyr på engene utenfor. Dette betyr også at det er lurt […] med bil for å komme til og fra. Man kan ta buss på veien som passerer området, men det kan oppleves litt kronglete. Søndag fant vi ut at det ikke går busser til Nottingham, da må man gå 20 minutt inn til Eastwood sentrum og ta buss til Nottingham (40 minutts bussreise). Leiebil anbefales. Hotellet har en godt besøkt Leisure Club der hotellets gjester har fri adgang til bl.a. svømmebasseng, gymsal og treningsrom. Det er ingen butikker eller slikt i umiddelbar nærhet av hotellet, men et stykke opp mot sentrum så vi en Morrison som sikkert kan benyttes. Mehr
