Ettington Park Hotel - Alderminster

this hotel is out of the ordinary tucked away nicely great rooms excellent suites great staff good food what more could you want if you do theres lots more

We got married at Ettington Park in September 2008 and have managed to return for our anniversary every year since. We have always found it to be a very warm and welcoming place and the staff have always been superb. I cannot recommend Ettington Park high enough and anyone who stays here will have a wonderful time.

Traveled down from Leeds in West Yorkshire for a short break. The hotel staff were very professional, the rooms very comfortable, the pool just enough to achieve some exercise, and the setting was perfect.

Stayed here Bank Hol weekend Aug 2011. Room really nice, and clean, with nice touches like DVD player (you can get some from reception), ingenious lighting of the wardrobe and bathroom, iron and ironing board and hair dryer in the room also as well as laptop connections. The pool is LOVELY! Really really nice as is the jacuzzi and all other facilities […] there - faultless. However we felt it was with the catering side of things where the hotel falls down - mostly due to inconsistency in this area. Having arrived we unpacked and went for a swim. We returned to reception and asked for a table for dinner. ALL tables were gone - so now we had no where to eat that night. Instead of the relaxing evening dining in the hotel, we had to get up, get in the car, and start driving. Unfortunately (and of course no fault to the hotel) we had an appalling meal at a pub in the outskirts of S-o-Avon which we had to send back). We then returned to the hotel and were able to dine in the lounge as opposed to the restaurant. The disadvantage of this is that the full table d'hote menu is not offered in this room - only in the restaurant. I had lamb sausages and mash - perfectly nice. My partner had penne pasta and a bolognaise sauce - it was awful. It was of a standard I would have expected for a child's school dinner - I can make better myself at home. And the price of these basic dishes meant that this was guaranteed to annoy you. Breakfast the next morning was lovely - hence the comments about inconsistency. We felt it was poor that the hotel couldn't accommodate its own guests in its own restaurant. Unfortunately there was no advice to book ahead if you wanted a table so we didn't think it would be a problem. Eating in an easy chair in front of a coffee table perched on the edge of the chair isn't the best way to eat what was supposed to have been a formal meal of at least two courses on a special weekend away. We go to Stratford often with the children so nice to venture south of the town -on our own! A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. As it rained the night we were there we have an excuse to go back and make use of the lovely terrace overlooking the parkland and the church ruins. Staff were very welcoming, and don't have the corporate clone qualities […] evident elsewhere (it is a relatively small group of hotels after all) Didn't dine, (enjoyed an excellent meal at the nearby Bell Inn in Alderminster) but if the breakfast is reflective of food quality then I imagine it would be very good. Room was very comfortable and very well equipped. We're looking forward to our return visit. Mehr

While the restaurant may too clearly exemplify the common prejudice against English cooking, in whole, Ettington Park is a fabulous spot to claim as your home while visiting Stratford-upon-Avon. Waltzing between both both present and past hosts and guests of Ettington Park, one is ever- reminded of both history's grasp upon us, and our indelible mark […] upon it. We stayed at Ettington Park for some friends' wedding and the place exceeded all expectations. It's a beautiful building located in lush Warwickshire countryside. The staff were really friendly and helpful and there was always somebody there when we needed something. We booked a standard room and it was pretty luxurious with a huge bed, TV and DVD player […] and everything else to make it a comfortable stay. We found the bar to be expensive but the quality of service and drink selection was good. The building is beautifully decorated inside and out, and felt warm and cosy. I would definitely consider staying there again and would recommend it any time! Mehr

Excellent value for money, all the staff we encountered offered superb service and were totally charming and our room was like something out of a modern day fairy tale - 'The Kingmaker Chamber' which is part of a tower. The hotel is set in stunning grounds, and winter or summer, this venue is breathtaking. To cap it all, the food is uniformly good - […] the evening dining alone of a standard to trigger a return visit. Mehr

The hotel is 6 miles outside of Stratford. The grounds are beautiful. The staff was very welcoming. The room was by far the largest one we had during our trip to GB. Our only complaint is the cleanliness of the room - there was a dirty towel in the corner of the room and multiple stains on the throw pillows and carpet. If housekeeping did a better job, […] this would have been our favorite hotel of the trip. Mehr

We stayed for our honeymoon weekend, and we will certainly be coming back for an anniversary or two. All members of staff were unfailingly polite and helpful, the room was excellent as was the food. The pool and spa area was clean and pleasant (although it might be an idea to make guests more aware of when it closes) and the grounds are very attractive. […] We didn't realize when we booked that this hotel was once considered the Most Haunted Hotel in England, but it is certainly an atmospheric place and full of history. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends. Mehr

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ettington Park Hotel. We were travelling through with a visit to Statford. Wished we had had more time to just relax at Ettington as the setting was most lovely and relaxing.
