Hotel Bern - Tallinn

Das Hotel Bern in Tallinn hat unseren Aufenthalt in dieser wunderbaren Stadt noch schöner gemacht. Besonders das Personal war ausgesprochen sympathisch, freundlich und offen, wir haben uns sofort sehr willkommen gefühlt. Bei Fragen zur Stadt wurde uns immer sofort geholfen. Die Zimmer sind modern, sauber und gemütlich, die Bademäntel und Hausschuhe […] waren ein schönes I-Tüpfelchen, um sich im Zimmer so richtig entspannen zu können. Leider gibt es keine Badewanne und keine Möglichkeit, selbst Tee oder Kaffee zu kochen, aber das hat uns nicht weiter gestört. Obwohl wir im Winter da waren, waren die Zimmer immer schön warm. Das Frühstücksbuffet war lecker. Das Hotel liegt genau am Rand der Altstadt, man geht also nur ca. 2 Minuten zu Fuß und befindet sich innerhalb der Stadtmauern. Außerdem befindet sich das Hotel in der Nähe des Linienbusses 2, der den Flughafen mit dem Fährhafen verbindet, was wir sehr praktisch fanden, da wir beide Ziele erreichen mussten. Auch der Innenstadtstop der Sightseeingtour hält in der Nähe vom Hotel. Ein supermodernes Einkaufszentrum (Viru Keskus), Kinos (mit Filmen auf Englisch) und das Rotermann-Viertel sind ebenfalls fußläufig zu erreichen. Ich denke, dass das Hotel eigentlich die perfekte Lage hat, da man dort genau an der Schnittstelle wohnt, um alle Facetten Tallinns entdecken zu können. Und das lohnt sich sehr! Wir waren später noch eine Nacht im Hotel Metropol und obwohl die Zimmer dort auch schön waren, würden wir das Hotel Bern aufgrund der netten Atmosphäre, des Personals und der individuellen Betreuung auf jeden Fall immer vorziehen. Das Hotel hat die perfekte Lage - am Rand der Altstadt, die man in fünf Minuten zu Fuß erreicht und deren Quirligkeit nachts nicht wahrzunehmen ist. Direkt gegenüber des Hotels ist ein Supermarkt (tgl. bis 22 Uhr geöffnet). Ebenfalls fußläufig sind die Tram bzw. die Busse, die Tourismus-Info und gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Das Hotel-Restaurant bietet ein gutes Frühstück, allerdings keine Abendkarte, was bei der Fülle der umliegenden gastronomischen Betriebe aber kein Problem ist. Das Hotel liegt in der Tallinner Altstadt. Fast alle Sehenswürdigkeiten sind von dort aus zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich. Die Zimmer sind nicht groß, aber sehr gepflegt. Sat-TV vorhanden. Hotel-Safe fehlt leider. Nicht ganz zufriedengestellt hat das Frühstücksbuffet. Etwas mehr Auswahl dürfte es sein. Hotel Bern has a great location in the city center close to everything, but still on a very quiet street. You have a very short walk to do some shopping or visiting the old town. We recently stayed at the Hotell Bern over the Christmas 2011 period - the hotel was fantastic - really easy to get to from the airport (the bus drops you off 200 yards from the street) and an ideal location for exploring the Old Town and the beautiful sights of Tallinn. Also, a perfect location if you are keen to explore outside the old town with the […] large Viru shopping complex nearby and the ferry port to Helsinki only a 15 minute walk away. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with advice about how to get to main sights, ferry times and booking taxis and spoke fluent English. Also, the breakfasts were fantastic too - really tasty with loads of choice and everyone knows a good hotel breakfast is important! The room we had was great too - a nice sized comfy double bed with plenty of room to unpack/leave things lying around. The bathroom was excellent too with a nice sized, very powerful shower. Rooms were cleaned evertyday and the whole hotel was spotless. I'd definitely recommend a stay here if you are visiting Tallinn - close to cashpoints and a supermarket (directly opposite) and within 300 yards of the start of Old Town walls - it really is a great choice Mehr

great hotel i would stay their again

Hotel Bern is located on Aia just outside the walls of the old town. The town square is 5 mins walk away. Turn left as you leave the hotel and then turn right when you see the walls and gate and that will bring you straight up through a lovely shopping street and the main tourist square. Going the other direction into the more modern part of the city […] brings you to the Coca-Cola cinema which has lots of English language films. The rooms are tidy but possibly slightly smaller if you are staying for a longer time. We stayed 4 days and it was perfect. 4 days was plenty for the city and we also took a ferry trip to Helsinki on the LindaLine fast ferry from Linnahall port. (take two lefts after leaving hotel and walk along main road until you see big steps on a big concrete building across the road from the big chimney. Walk up over the steps or around the left of this building and the port is behind - you can buy tickets there also) The shower had good pressure and hot water. There is a mini bar but it is expensive. There is a hairdryer and good wifi everywhere. Beds are very comfortable and a good quiet night sleep every night even though we were at the front of the hotel. There is an elevator but the stairs are probably quicker! Breakfast is served on level 0 underground. It is a good filling continental breakfast with scrambled eggs and sausages and meatballs with the usual bread, cheese, tomato & peppers etc and cereals and tea coffee. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We needed a plug adapter as I forgot to bring the proper 2 pin round adapter but reception loaned us one. They also booked our airport taxi too (around €8 for a 10-15 min ride). All in all I would stay again and would recommend it to friends. Mehr

Excellent location on edge of Old Town. Rooms are basic but spotless. Reception staff are incredibly friendly and so helpful with arranging tickets, restaurant bookings etc.

Not only was the Bern conveniently located in Old Town Tallinn, it had a great included breakfast and the staff at reception were very friendly and helpful.

The receptionists are, by far, the best in Europe. Their knowledge and friendly helpful manner made so much difference to our holiday. The room was comfortable and the location of the hotel was about as good as it could be.

Hotel Bern is located a few minutes walk from Town Hall Square. The rooms are comfortable with good ensuite shower room facilities. Plenty of complimentary hair and body wash are provided. Beds are very comfortable but only one small pillow is provided for each guest. Extra may be available but we didn't ask. Robes and complimentary slippers are provided. There […] are no tea/coffee making facilities and no in room safe. We took advantage of safety deposit service available at reception. The reception staff are very friendly, helpful and speak excellent english. The small bar here is reasonably priced. The buffet breakfast consists of fruit juices, fruit teas, coffee, scrambled eggs, sausage or meatballs, smoked salmon, herrings, cold meats, cheeses, salad, cereals, toast, jams, butter, toast and excellent mini pastries. If you preference is english breakfast tea, bring your own. Free wifi is available at this hotel. We highly recommend Hotel Bern and would stay there again. Mehr

Great location on edge of old town. Staff very friendly and helpful - recommended restaurants were great. Only downside was that the shower was not enclosed and the whole bathroom floor got wet but was only a minor inconvenience.

Perfectly situated on edge of old town, short walk from bus stop from airport, 5-10min to main square. Friendly staff, good breakfast and very clean. Had room on street side but quiet at night. Go and enjoy!!

The Hotel has a great location. It is in a quiet enough area just off the old town and surrounded by nice restaurants and bars. The supermarket across the road is very handy and the old town is a 5 minute walk. The staff were helpful and the breakfast was sufficient fair. I will stay in Hotel Bern on my next visit to Tallinn.

Warm welcome and excellent service from all hotel staff. The rooms are a good size and very clean. Breakfast had a great choice, the only thing missing were plain tea bags (although lots of flavoured varieties). The hotel is in the centre of the city just outside the city wall, very close to bus/tram stops and shopping centre.

If you're traveling to Tallinn, then this is the place to stay. I was traveling with two of my friends so our room was quite cramped with the three of us, but we made it work. In my opinion two people may be a bit uncomfortable, but I am used to the larger sized hotel rooms in the U.S. We were greeted by an extremely friendly front desk clerk who immediately […] recommended restaurants and night life hot spots that were well within walking distance. The hotel sits back off the street which made for a quiet stay. They offer drinks at the front desk which may be enjoyed in the lobby or outside on the patio (at the lone table - they may set up more tables when the weather is better?). There was really no need for a cab while we stayed at the Bern as everything - including the ferry port - were as I said before within walking distance. The room while small was very clean. The WiFi access made communications very easy. The price was right as well. All in all, a great place to stay. If you have three people traveling together, I would recommend booking two rooms. Mehr

I stayed here for 4 days in June 2011. It was a good location, near the Ferry port to Tallinn and the old Town. Very quite area and a supermarket across the road. The receptionists were very frindly and helpful, however the housekeeping let the hotel down. The room was also pretty basic.

Everything was great apart from the double-room size which was small and the breakfast restaurant did not have enough tables (I had to wait sometimes to find a free table).

The Hotel is very well located on the edge of the historic centre of Talinn its not in the old part itself but everywhere is walkable and close and the hotel is in a quiet location. The rooms are quite small and a bit dull but this is made up for by the very helpful informative and friendly staff. Had an otherwise satisfactory room (for the price) on the third floor with a lovely view of several of the town's spires. facing southwest. But this meant that the afternoon sun streamed in, warming the room. This might be wonderful in winter, but in late May the room was hot and the windows did not open, trapping all that heat. Given weak air conditioning, […] by 3:30 the room was stifling and became habitable again after 10:30. Good excuse to stay out and drink beer in the town square or another nice bar. Mehr

Friendly, helpful staff, comfortable hotel in perfect location close to Old Tallinn and bus and rail stations.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet had a wide selection. The room was clean and comfortable, though a bit spartan. The only negative was the shower which drained into the floor rather than into a catch basin, so the bathroom floor was wet afterwards.

We had an excellent 4 night midweek break, the hotel being an ideal base from which to walk to all the attractions in the old town as well as the port , modern town and opera house. Staff could not be more helpful, giving us good recommendations for restaurants for lunch and dinner. Excellent hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful,booked ferry to Helsinki for us. Hotel transfer from airport added bonus,gentleman at arrivals took us straight to our car. We only stayed one night here, but had a really fantastic stay. We happened to be staying there on my birthday, and we had made no mention of this, but they must have noticed it on my paperwork when we checked in because they showed up with a bottle of champagne & roses for me that evening. It was so unexpected & so thoughtful! The hotel is neat, simple […] and clean, but I would say that their best asset is their staff. Everyone we dealt with was incredibly helpful - from almost immediately responding to my e-mail requesting directions to the hotel to helping us figure out how to turn the heat up - they were fantastic. The service we received was first class - the staff were extremely helpful. Rooms were on the smallish side but were well maintained. Breakfast options were varied and catered for most tastes - the staff regularly top-up the items that are used and are very helpful. Although the snow was still around and temperatures were a little chilly - the hotel and visit to Tallinn was excellent. Hotel Bern is ideally situated for easy access to the Old town, and short walk to Newer shopping Malls. Located right beside the old town in a quiet street, five minutes walk from airport bus stop and city tour and main bus station. Pretty much everywhere was within walking distance of hotel. Room was fine with a a couple of English language channels on tv, room facilities were excellent. I Would recommend this hotel

We stayed at the Hotel Bern for a long weekend in March - upon check in the Reception staff were very helpful and provided details about the Hotel itself but also a map on which they highlighted key sites to visit whilst in Tallinn. The Hotel itself is very clean and modern and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The location of the Hotel Bern is excellent being only a few minutes walk away from the Old Town of Tallinn. Whilst we were in Tallinn the weather was a little cold, with snow on the first day, however, the Hotel always felt very warm. I was very happy with everything at hotel Bern. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are nice, well equipped and clean. The location of the hotel is great too very close to both the Viru square and the new city as well as the old town. Buses from the airport arrive at the Viru so you can be at the hotel within 5 minutes of leaving the airport […] bus. There is also a supermarket across the road from the hotel should you need to do any shopping and the Kalev Spa is about 100m away. I would highly recommend the hotel for your stay in Tallinn. Mehr

Went in February and Tallin was experiencing some unseasonal weather and it was -19 on all the days we spent there. Hotel was clean and reception staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. The room we stayed in was basic and very clean. However, the bed was not particularly comfortable and the air conditioning […] unit was very noisy (not sure if it was broken) and it did wake me up during the night with the noise. The location of the hotel was perfect as it was just a 5 minute stroll to the old town which was very beautiful. Would recommend a stay at this hotel if in Tallin. Mehr
