Das Hotel ist sehr gepflegt. Leider gibt es in der Umgebung sehr wenig. Einziege Alternative zum Abendessen war ein mexikanisches Restaurant auf der anderen Seite der Autobahn. Liegt direkt an der Autobahnausfahrt und deshalb für Durchreisende ideal.

"Great place but just OK for a business traveler"
The hotel is a very quaint re-purposed old bakery. It's a nice blend of modern amenities mixed with nods to the original architecture and the building's history. Overall, the service was top-notch; everyone was very friendly and accomodating. My only complaint was the breakfast delivery was all wrong and the staff's delivery person didn't really seem […] to care. The location is fantastic. Very close to major highways and right near downtown, USC's campus and all the dining and shopping of the Five Points area. My biggest complaint is there was no desk or table in the room, so it was very hard to do any work while I was staying there. Also, they make huge efforts to stay "green", but when I'm traveling for work, I like the room to be at a comfortable temperature so I can sleep well. This was nearly impossible to do because the AC is run so "efficiently". Mehr
"Choo Choo"
Nice boutique hotel but I couldn't get over it being next to an active train track. The trains came by in the middle of the night and blew their whistle right at the hotel OMG not a great way to get woken up. Sry
"Nice B&B feel to the room"
The hotel is beautiful and definitely one of a kind. It's got the feeling of a resort in the main entrance and then a bed and breakfast in the actual rooms. It was walking distance to many restaurants and shops. They said they offered wine and cheese in the evening, although I didn't see any out at the time they mentioned... maybe you had to ask, but […] I didn't feel like it. The room was cozy and comfortable, the bathroom was very clean, the breakfast was fine, and the customer service was great. Overall, it was a relaxing stay and I will definitely come back. Mehr
Nice property...Unique hotel in a fun neighborhood. Just be warned that there is a train that goes by at night. The train tracks are right next to the hotel. It didn't bother me but it might bother a lot of people.
"The Inn at Claussen"
The hotel was extremely nice for the price, but there were a few drawbacks. At approximately 3 a.m. in the morning, a super-loud train goes by, and it literally sounds as though it is in the room with you. Additionally, this hotel is not in the safest part of Columbia. On the evening we stayed, there were five policemen in the parking lot at one point […] due to two men walking around busting out car windows and stealing electronics. Excellent breakfast, pretty hotel, friendly staff. The clerk told me that the snacks were served only during the week. I think that is foolish. So if you stay on the weekend, you are not offered any snacks.
"The Inn at Claussen's - Comfortable and Convenient"
The room was great, but I hit my thigh a couple of times on the foot of the bed which has some molding around the top - it sticks out a couple of inches beyond the rest of the foot. We were on the first floor and had a patio outside our room. If it were not cold and rainy while we were there it would have been a great place for a cocktail. We retired […] early and found that the lobby was pretty noisy. Turning on the fan of the heating system solved that problem. The staff was most helpful with our few requests and let us check in a little early. The breakfast was a little skimpy with a small blueberry muffin, coffee and orange juice, so we got something else on our way out of town to complete the meal. The breakfast was good, just not very filling. We ate supper at Garibaldi’s and could have not been more pleased. It is less than a block from the Inn and has great Italian food. Mehr

We were in Columbia to celebrate our son's 25th birthday. Location was perfect.

Our stay on Christmas night was a very pleasant experience. Breakfast was awesome! (coffee, too) Staff was friendly and helpful. Beds very comfortable and room clean. Though most of the businesses were closed for the holiday, we found good food and fun at Jillians, a smoke-free, affordable and fun (play pool or ping pong) dining experience (800 Gervais […] St.). Very friendly concierge. Complimentary wine upon arrival and each night. Breakfast delivered to room each morning. Amazing historic landmark - updated but still maintains charm. Would stay there again hands down when in Columbia!

"The Inn at Clausens-Perfect for visiting USC!"
Wonderful room, incredible location with 2 teenage girls looking for colleges: USC just a few hundred yards down the street, shopping around the corner, and coffee shop just across the street. We never needed our car once we arrived. Will definitely stay there again, but will bring a coffee pot for first thing in the morning. No coffee in rooms except […] with breakfast which is brought to the room. Enjoyed our stay! Mehr

"Top Notch!"
Love Love Love this hotel! Complimentary breakfast brought to your room! Complimentary wine and cheese reception each evening! The people are fantastic! The room is great - four poster COMFY bed! There are so many options for dinner all within a couple of blocks! Definitely recommend this hotel!
We thoroughly enjoyed our one night stay at The Inn at Claussen's, our only comment would be that at least one more light downstairs would be nice. Also, the phone is only located upstairs by the bed. We ate dinner at a wonderful wine bar on Greene St.; there are many choices within walking distance which is terrific. The hardest part about the hotel […] is parking because in the evening you do have to compete with valet parking from another restaurant. If there are no parking spots available you have to go back to the front desk and let them know so they can contact the restaurant and have a valet move a car for you to park. You must remember if you are booking this hotel that it is a historic building so there are no elevators and you have to appreciate a less contemporary decor. Mehr

The Inn at Claussen's was charming, our room was lovely and all of the personnel were helpful and personable. We enjoyed the complimentary wine, cheese and fruit offered at 5:00 and have already recommended the Inn to our friends! Great restaurants and shopping are just a few minutes walk, all in all it was perfect.

I went to Columbia for a business trip and made a last minute call to stay at Claussen's, but based entirely on my experience at this hotel I plan on taking my family to Columbia for a weekend (almost just to stay at the Inn at Claussen's again), to see the sites of the Five Points.

I loved staying at this hotel! It was beautiful and in the heart of Five Points - close to everywhere I needed to be. I will definately return during USC football season.

"Close to Saluda's Restaurant"
Enjoyed a weekend with friends and a short walk to a favorite restaurant. Loved the breakfast to order which was delivered to the room. Love the loft design. We plan to come back!

great get away place for a weekend. The Inn is very nice and there is a ton of things to do around the area. From arrival to departure, everything and everyone was top notch! Will be back for sure!
"So Much Better! I'm proud of Claussen's!"
We are from Columbia, South Carolina! We left the grandparents with the babies to celebrate our wedding anniversary a little early. Granted, this stay was an impromptu event - but we were oh so surprised and delighted with The Inn at Claussen's! The hotel staff were impeccably polite and gracious! The complimentary wine was just right and the complimentary […] breakfast in bed was dynamite! The beds were comfy, the rooms had the most wonderful French Country feel - I - - did - not - - want - - to - - leave! It was close to many bars and restaurants and the Vista! "Great Location"
The hotel was in a great location. We stayed in the loft and it was beautiful. Only suggestion is the rooms need a microwave, ice machine and coffee pot. The usual items in a nice expensive hotel. I travel alot and those things mean lot. But over all great place to stay.

"The Inn at Claussen's - Good spot, lots close by"
The Inn is situated adjacent to Univ of South Carolina. There are lots of great little pubs and restauraunts and little boutiques within walking distance (1-6 blocks). Inside the building itself is an excellent restaurant (Mr. Friendly's) a pub and a wine bar/shoppe. There's a grocery store and pharmacy within a block and a Starbucks across the street. […] The rooms are large and comfortable. They deliver "breakfast" to your room each morning, though that's overstating the meal somewhat. I ordered fruit and got a small glass with 3 chunks of pineapple, 3 slivers of strawberry, and 3 wedges of a small tangerine. The oatmeal was two packages of instant oatmeal and a cup of hot water. My room was above the lobby area, which got pretty loud during the evening on Saturday night as they have a small bar area just beside the front desk. I think the noise level would be much lower down one of the hallways on either level. The staff was superb! Very friendly and full of that southern hospitality! Would recommend it for sure! Mehr

"Amenities for work travel, comfort of home"
In my mid thirties, when traveling for work I like to stay in a hotel that is a little hip, unique, affordable, fun location, good food, but also has the amenities I need to get some work done (free wifi, nice desk in the room, able to focus). A delicious breakfast was delivered to my room, included in the room cost, I could choose several different […] beverages and breakfast foods, and it arrived in the 30 minute window I specified. Got some work done while eating a refreshing breakfast in my comfortable room. Then, I got to my worksite on time b/c hotel is very close to downtown but doesn't feel "downtown". Overall, this hotel gets the balance for mid-career professionals just right! Not the 'W', not the cookie cutter 'Holiday Inn' or 'Marriott', not a mom-and-pop B&B, but something comfortably in-between. Mehr
"Intimate little inn, couldnt of been better"
We ended up coming in a day early, they were very accamodating. And on top of that, they were not very full, and the young woman at the front decided to upgrade us for free to an even nicer room. The loft suite was very nice. I would definitely go back there, very intimate and private inn. Not the hub bub you get at a chain hotel. And the breakfast […] delivered to your door was very good. It was more than expected. This great inn had a contemporary feel in the lobby and entrance. In the actual room, I was met with a clean and nice decor. It was very relaxing and somewhat romantic as the room was a nice mix of southern charm and contemporary style. The location is great too! The staff was wonderful. "Looking for an excellent choice"
This hotel has so much charm and located in a nice area "Five Points" with nice upscale restaurant choices mainly Mr. Friendly's Restaurant located conveniently next hotel. No need to drive to dine, everything within walking distance. The large room was excellent (recently upgraded) and a great alternate to the typical hotel. You are able to walk out […] to a private little courtyard from your room on the ground level. Will visit again! Mehr
"Overall Good Experience"
The room was comfortable. The consierge service was great. The complimentary happy hour wine was a great idea, but in reality the wine was warm, days old and tasted like vinegar. The complimentary breakfast delivered to the room was a really nice touch.

"Needs Major Upgrades!"
I have lived in Columbia for nearly 20 years and was looking forward to staying at the Inn at Claussen's. It is known as being convenient and quaint. As soon as I walked in the room I was disappointed. It is about 10 years overdue for an upgrade! The wallpaper was peeling and dated. Not to mention the television was small and circa 1985. The room itself […] smelled of mildew and when I showered the water would not drain properly so that I was standing in a pool of water. When I got out of the shower I noticed the dead bug laying in the floor that had not been cleaned. To complicate matters more, the A/C started dripping in the middle of the night! Very smelly and Noisy! Then the room next door had early risers that woke at 6:00 am. If you are not a deep sleeper, you are not up for this adventure, because the walls are paper thin and I was up at 6 am too! I could hear everything they said and was ready to hit the road first thing in the morning. I definitely will not be visiting a second time nor recommending this place to friends/family. Mehr
