great location , especially for those who shopping , coffee ? no prob at all , starbucks just at the lobby

If your intention is to go Pratumun to shop, grand diamond is best choice. You can shop and go up to leave your things when you are tired, rest and go down to shop again.

Overall a good stay with polite and helpful staff around. Location is pretty good with Platinum Mall connected to the hotel and Siam Paragon is just 15 minutes walk away. You can take BTS to Chatuchak market (open during weekends only) if you wish to avoid traffic jams.

I wasn't too impressed with this hotel. Small rooms. In the kitchen only two coffees and two teas, two milks! It was the two of us, we had a cup of coffee each with milk before going out, then when came back we wanted to have more coffee before our flight, no coffee, no milk left. So we had to have a tea with no milk! I never drink tea with no milk... […] Just a bit tight and cheap, so not worth the price you pay for the rooms. We have stayed in Bangkok before in three star hotel twice cheaper and it was Much better! twice bigger rooms, Plenty of tea, coffee and milk! Mehr

fantastic location! just next to The Platinum - with other shopping belts right in the neighbourhood. would strongly recommend this hotel if you want convenience

Air-Con was faulty, making tonnes of excruciating noise every night which i had to turn it off

Stayed 2 nights and 3 days. I certainly enjoyed, the room was clean and it offers good comfort (definitely more than what you need for a short stay like mine). Staff is kind and smily, in my case not very helpful though (it might be only a coincidence but when I asked for some info they were not able to reply me). It is in the city centre, the streets for shopping and the shopping malls are all around that area, the art gallery is very near (by walk 10 - 15 min) and the Old City Area is easy to reach by simply taking a Tuk Tuk (Three wheels vechicle). It does not take much time to reach it and it isn't expensive (remember to bargain on the price!) The only weakness of the location of the hotel is the heavy heavy but really heavy traffic all around! Air is basically impossible to breath! (Although, that's the same aImost all over Bangkok anyway!) I would definitely reccommend this hotel. Mehr

Hotel location is ideal but hotel is not if you are shooting for a clean room. When you take a cab from the hotel make sure the concierge explains to the cab driver the amount agreed or make sure the meter is on before the cab rolls.

This hotel was good, it's not far from pretty much where you want to go shopping wise, you can walk to MBK and Siam Square for that matter where Siam Discovery and Siam Paragon are, and the night market is there as well. The hotel was great as far as service was concerned they greeted you and opened the door for you on your way on and on your return, […] they were helpful with letting you know about the locals and how things would go down. grand diamond is so convenience that they have shopping right at the hotel lobby and next to platinum mall! few minutes walk to erawan shrine.. the best is the local food few minutes walk away fr the hotel! You can get a feast at SGD10 for 2 person..

I booked a Junior Suite for our group of 3 and found that the size of the suite was very comfortable for us. We had a large bathroom and a comfortable sitting room with a small kitchen. The only minor complaint was that the mattress for the extra bed is a little too thin and hence less comfortable. The location of the hotel is wonderful as it is next […] to Plantinum Shopping Mall which has hundreds of whoelsale retailers and a big food court offering many varieties of local food and desserts at reasonable prices. There is also an IT mall next to the hotel for the computer geeks. Even though the reception area is very small and not at all impressive, the service is not bad. The staff could speak decent english and are very helpful. If only the MRT station is a little closer to the hotel (takes about 15 - 20 min walk), it would be perfect. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends, especially those that are travelling in a family or group as the suite gives the extra space for comfort and the price is reasonable. Mehr

If u r a keen shopper, than this hotel best suit u. Platinum mall is just beside hotel. Walking distance to other shopping areas. Breakfast was the only problem I faced. Good price and good value for money. Rooms are nice and the fact that major shopping malls are literally steps away is the best feature of the hotel.

For those who likes to shop at Pratunam market, platinum fashion mall and pantip plaza, this is an excellent location. The service of the hotel is a bit slow. Highly recommend to stay in this hotel if you're at Bangkok to shop. Grand Diamond hotel is in Grand Diamond Plaza itself, which provides 4 floors of shopping itself. It is also next to Platinum mall, TH's biggest fashion wholesale mall. Take a tuktuk and you can easily go to Baiyoke Sky for buffet, MBK to shop more and Central World for branded goods. […] There is a Starbucks at the lobby too with super friendly staff. Located just next to Platinium Mall. Convenient and easy access to shopping areas. Spacious bathroom and comfortable bedrooms. It was overall a nice place to stay in Bkk.

This hotel is in shpping area, but the staff is unfriendly never got smile from them. Elevator is slow. Room is not good clean have a bad smell in room.

Stayed for 5 nights in this hotel . Close to shopping centre & food . If you don't mind traffic & noise .... this hotel is perfect for you .

Rooms could do with an update..

Contrary to previous negative reviews on this hotel, I decided to give it a try and found it to be blissful. Not only was it strategically located next to Platinum Shopping Mall, it was also a stone throw from Tops supermarket, 7-11, local eateries and there's even a night market right below the hotel after 8pm. The hotel staffs were attentive; the […] porter was very helpful and room service came after just 15 mins. Breakfast was also a delight with a good spread of western & eastern servings; particularly enjoyed the porridge and also soya bean dessert. Hotel have been upgraded since my last visit. Hotel surrounding have always been the most convenient one. However this time round the mattress seems hard. Bed is not very comfortable for me. Great upgrade of the tv set from the old CRT to LCD tv. Definately a worthy n highly recommended stay!

We arrived in BKK before the standard check-in time, and i thought that we are not able to check-in yet. However i'm surprised that we are able to check-in early even we did not request for it. I love the most would be their location. Walk out from lobby there's shopping, right beside there's platinum mall, taking tuk-tuk or taxi to MBK or Paragon area only cost 50baht. Great location as right in the midst of the maor shopping centres - platinum, centreworld, cetral and not far from MBK. We got upgraded to Executive Suite on Floor 26 for the four of us. I always travel to BKK at least twice a year and BaiyokeSky was always my 1st choice.My recent trip on Feb 2011.I make a very wrong decision to give Grand Diamond Suite a try.It was horrible when i 1st step into the lobby.The feeling was pretty insecure cause the security was bad.Further more there are only 2 lifts which we always need to wait for a […] long time.The so call just newly renovated hotel was terrible,I feel it was not renovated at all.It does not look shabby but does not look as good from the picture that was advertise.And one thing which I find it very stupid is giving you a stove and yet not even a piece of utensil.The room was pretty spacious but not appealing at all.The breakfast was average and not much selection cause we are having the same food for 4 days.And the taxi stand infront of the lobby was terrible cause there are no taxi available and on the day of departure i still need to go to the main road to hail for a taxi to turn into the small lane cause that is exactly where the hotel taxi stand is.Overall I will never stay in this hotel again cause i would rather walk all the way from baiyokeSky to Platinum Mall.And afterall the daily rates of the hotel is totally not worth for the breakfast,service,etc. Mehr

check in service was good. room is spacious, i like it :) but they do not change our towels when they clean our rooms and the wait for the lift is quite long. worst part is we have to pay for internet! but overall the room, location and counter service was great.

Good service, great location but the rooms are old which needs renovation. If your are there for shopping (at wholesale prices) for the first time, you will not go wrong with this location. If you prefer to shop around MBK/ Siam Square area, then you may consider Novotel instead.

The addition shopping area and food outlets within the hotel is good. The air-conditioner in hotel rooms are noisy esp at nights and the housekeeping standard for room differ from day to day. On certain days, we have no hand towels, no bottled water and insufficient toilet rolls and tissues papers.

Booked with Hotels .com and they told me this was a beautiful hotel with great pool and free internet. The was untrue and the internet was expensive and not worth it at the very low speed. Pool was terrible but other hotels by Riverside let you use there pools which was fine. Staff are pushy for tips and kept offering to get extras which other hotels […] would definitely not do for you ect which I was not there for which I thought was unprofessional and left a bad taste in my mouth. Grand diamond has a New look. There is a new shopping area in e hotel itself. Though it was newly opened with some shops still not occupied it was a gd miX of small shops. not coMparable to platinum plaza nex door but nevertheless pl easing. As always, even though hotels.com had confirmed my reservation, i would always email the hotel personally to ensure my reservation is in place. Before the trip itself, i can sense the service as i got my email replied within the day itself. We reached hotel at around 1100HRS and the bell services assisted us with our luggages. We were pleased that […] we are able to check-in early as their standard check-in time is 1400HRS. Upon entering the room, i must say that what we see in the pictures/photos is what we get. It was what my girlfriend and i expected. We stayed in Junior suite, having city view. The only difference from the pictures is that the TV had changed to LCD with multiple international channels so is more that enough for one to stay in suite to enjoy the TV programmes. Having a bath tub and stand alone shower separated is truly what we need after a day of shopping. Breakfast is really good even though they served almost the same dishes everyday. I ordered room service during my stay and they delivered within the time frame where they committed, which i really appreciated it because some hotels i stayed in are always serving my orders beyond their committed time frame. The best is always at the last. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. All major or must go shopping malls are within walking distance, meaning YOU ARE ABLE TO SAVE ON TRAVELING AND SPEND MORE ON SHOPPING. Isn't this what we are looking for?? Trust me even MBK is on walking distance. Just grab a map at the airport to make things easier for yourselves. stayed from 17th -22nd Dec 2010. The lobby level was under renovation, but i stayed on the 16th level, so no issue with the noises. But no worries, 22nd Dec was the grand opening, so you can expect the renovation to be more or less done already. Location is the best you can find.
