The grounds of this hotel (resort complex, mostly for time-shares) are almost specacular, and the views of the coast from the hotel is awsome, especially in the evening as the sun sets over the mountains at the coastline. You can't go wrong at this place. They don't come in and clean up every day. You have to clean your own towels if you want fresh […] towels every morning, and make your own bed, but in my case, I make my bed even in places where they'll do it for you, so those things don't matter to me. Locaation in Princeville is perfect for someone who wants to visit Kauai, I don't think I could find a better location to be at in Kauai. I loved staying at this place, it was perfect for us. Mehr

My husband and I booked a "hotel room" at HBR on hotels.com and received a one-bedroom condo with full kitchen and washer/dryer. The condo was clean -- kitchen was immaculate. The furnishings were cute, comfy and island-themed. The amenities were fantastic, and the beach was a short (albeit slightly steep) walk away. The state bird, the Nene, visited […] us on the lanai almost every day! (No, we weren't feeding them.) The property's restaurant was closed due to a fire in July, but we didn't really miss it because we took advantage of the kitchen and nearby community grills. (This probably saved us a small fortune! And Foodland is less than 5 miles away.) This resort is not for someone who needs the most up-to-date in decor and atmosphere. It is not posh and had some flaws (small leak in the toilet, squeaky headboard that was remedied with a rolled-up towel). People complain that housekeeping doesn't visit everyday, but I can make my own bed and hang my own bath towel on the rack to dry and reuse. It is a comfortable, laid-back place to stay with many conveniences and a great staff. HBR may not be for everyone, and, for that, my husband and I are grateful. We'd like it to stay affordable and unpretentious. Mehr

This hotel has the best hot tub ever! The pool wasn't too bad either. We got the room with a kitchen and separte bedroom and were quite happy with it. Our porch had a great view of the mountains, great plants and birds. Not too close to many places to eat so we bought stuff at the local markets and prepared it in out kitchen. Location, location, location! We had a spacious ground-floor room with an awesome view of Hanelei Bay and Bali Hai. Nothing fancy about the room, but the view was incredible. Lovely grounds, two nice pools, and pleasant staff. It's a pretty, half-mile stroll down to the shared Princeville Resort beach on a concrete path, but worth it. We will definitely […] go back! Mehr

This is a beautiful place to stay, grounds are immaculate, pool is a fantasy. The restaurant is closed but the full kitchen took care of that. Dinner on our lanai looking out at a waterfall...

Hotel is actually the Hanalei Bay Resort and was recently using name Celebrity Resort with bad reviews. On my first night there I was placed in what can only be described as a dungeon. It was on the bottom of a hillside and dark and mildewy. I was able to change rooms on the second day and was advised that they 'always' place guests in that room and […] change them out the next day when they complain. There was no cleaning service for my four days even though I was promised it twice by front desk. Room was decent and location of hotel is spectacular (Kauai Northshore) but Princeville itself is a rich, heavily developed golf club community that looks more like Miami Beach than Kauai. Mehr

Beautiful view from our room with most sought sunset point of Hanalei bay. Very spacious rooms and amazing resort facilities. Had all extra charges even for room service. We are realy impressed and would like to go back to apt. 6103.

This place was a really beautiful place. I think the cleaning fee should be put into the bulk of the main price but otherwise the room was worth the money. The sofa bed was horrible, was in pain from it the entire stay. Opt for the bed instead.

All the staff were welcoming and hospitable with genuine aloha spirit. The view is breathtaking, the room spacious, The landscaped saltwater pool luxurious. The best sunset view of Hanalei Bay. We loved it and will go back again and again. It would be a wonderful place for a wedding (there was one held the last evening we were there. While the particpants […] surely enjoyed the lovely terrace and its view, they were far enough away from the rooms and provided only a lovely musical backdrop to our final evening. A paradise indeed. The beautiful grounds and views sold me at once on this aged but elegant resort. A wonderful green walk to a secluded beach with a nature trail along toward Hanalei Beach was memorable. The room showed age but the bed was comfortable after our long flight, think we slept 12 hours without difficulty. Would be happy to return to this resort if we come […] back to Kauai. Mehr

Hanalei Bay Resort is in a beautiful location. It had a great reputation 20 years ago. However, the property has been poorly managed over the years and is very run down. There were missing tiles in the bathroom and the carpet was badly frayed. Water flow in the shower was but a trickle and the bathroom faucet handle came off the first day and the faucet […] itself leaked. I would in no way call this a hotel or a resort as was advertised on the hotels.com site. Towels were changed only once during our 5 night stay. You couldn't even call the front desk for extra towels. Instead, they wanted to charge you an additional fee per day for new towels on top of the check in fee and the cleaning fee upon checkout. Then there was the daily resort fee. For a place that advertised itself as a resort or a hotel, I would expect decent bathroom amenities, but these only included shampoo and soap. I'm sorry but I expect at least conditioner and lotion which even most motels would have. It's such a shame that a property which was once very nice has fallen into such disrepair. It certainly is not worth the advertised price of the room which should not have been advertised as a "hotel" room as it did not provide any "hotel" amenities and services at all. Mehr
