The Oceanfront Litchfield Inn - Pawleys Island

Love to stay here - it is so convenient for me.

Construction was being done on the room next to our room. Very annoying after two hours of hammering. I called the front desk at 3pm. and was told the construction will end at 5pm. Then The manager contacted me at 4, and asked if I would like to switch rooms, I told him it would be less of a hassle to just leave the room for an hour. Managment did not […] show good customer skills. I suggest asking about construction work being done prior to checking in. Mehr

2nd time I've stayed here. Love the place. Accomodations, staff and convenience.

We had a great stay there, people were really friendly. But: the room was right underneath some four AC units on the roof and either those units or the AC of our neighbors was so loud, that it was only possible to sleep with earplugs. But if you are not sensitive to noise - and the slight vibration of those units that can be felt - you will definitely […] LOVE it there: its next to the beach, it's basically ON the beach, and it comes with complimentary breakfast. We weren't looking for a place to live. We were only looking for somewhere to put our things down, shower, and sleep at night. This place had the perfect beach side location. Our walk was only a couple minutes to the beach, and that is an experience well worth the price we paid. This is supposed to be an upscale resort. I was charged a resort fee of $14 for amenities that were not available. No swimming pools were available, the restaurant and bar were closed, Wi-Fi was off/on and unpredictable, "full breakfast" was a bagel. This fee is a rip off.

Visited in the off season. Nice place, clean, and the staff was helpful and friendly.

Do not confuse this with the Plantation Inn at Litchfield as we did! This is not an "Inn" at all but an oceanfront cheap resort. No two pieces of furniture in our poolside room matched, and it was obviously second hand. The beds were comfortable though. We were there on an oversold weekend and yet they closed all 3 restaurants and the pool bar at the […] same time for renovations. We were not made aware of this at booking by the hotel or by hotels.com Although the hotel offers free breakfast in the lobby, there is nowhere to sit there so you have to carry it back to your room Mehr

Uncourteous staff, poorly maintained hotel, VERY expensive for it's price. Online pics are nothing compared to reality.

I read the reviews regarding this hotel on the hotels.com website. With a 50/50 split of good and bad, I gave it a shot as the sale had the right price for a quick get-a-way weekend. I expected modest furnishings and a location right on the beach. I got exactly what I expected - wonderful location, fabulous beach, and a modest room. However, what I […] did not expect was the LOW quality mattresses that lay on top of the 2 Queen beds. We are talking severely inadequate mattresses here. My wife and I had sore backs the entire trip. The mattresses were thin and as hard as a rock. They were quiet, but were extremely uncomfortable. Other than the mattress situation - I loved the place. I am guessing if I had sprung for a better room or could have gotten a King bed I may have gotten a better mattress situation, but don't know for sure. It is likely that I would go back if in the area again - I would just really, really investigate the mattress situation before I booked again. Mehr

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! The hotel staff were very nice and professional. The location of the hotel is awesome and is ocean front. The room was furnished very nice and was very clean inside. The balcony was awesome as it had two rocking chairs and a table and was very roomy! I will definitely come back to this hotel!!! Our first trip to Pawleys Island and we reserved an oceanfront room on the first level. Upon check in, customer service at the counter was a joke. Uncourteous and somewhat rude. The room we got was NOT the picture we saw online. The room had a pungent smell as if the air conditioner fluid leaked onto the floor. As we were sleeping, around 7 a.m., we […] were awoke to the glorious sound of an air compressor and nail guns, going to work directly above us. We just wanted to get away for one last weekend before school started back and we all had to get busy again. I booked our room just two days before going on the trip, and was very surprised at how easy it was to navigate the website, and locate the hotel in which we wanted to stay. The family liked the poolside room with the private walk to the pool […] deck, and the easy access to the beach. The room was comfortable for two adults and two adult children. The whole place was clean and well taken care of, and the restaurant and grille had great food. The live entertainment poolside was also a nice touch. The location is good, too. We had a good time in nearby Garden City, Inlet Square Mall and enjoyed wonderful food at Gilligan's and The Hanser House Family Restaurant. I highly recommend both, as well as the two at the Inn. the room was old...and musty....it had just been painted...the gallon of paint was still in the bathroom...some of lights didn't work...the light/fan in the bathroom had a loud noise....the location was great and convienent...the cafe was decent.

The Hotel was clean overall. The room I booked was not the room I got when I got down there. I did not like the fact room service would not clean the room while your in it they wait until your gone that seems a bit sneaky to me. The pool was full of bugs my entire stay which means they never cleaned it. It was not a good price for the room we got. The […] internet picutres are not accurate. We were really pleased with our stay, we had a wonderful time. We stayed in room 210 a poolside room and were very happy with the great ocean view. This is a family owned/and operated hotel and they were all very friendly. The beds were really very hard and not comfortable. We found a cigarette (not ours) under the bed when were were getting ready to […] pack up and leave apparently they didn't clean under the bed very well. I would recommend staying here and we will most likely be returning for another visit to the Litchfield Inn. Mehr

The rooms shown on the website and the room I stayed in were different. I expected to get what I saw on the internet when I booked my room. instead the room I received was in the older building. In recommending this hotel I would tell the person to ask for a room in the newer building if they wanted what is shown on the internet.

Pros: On the beach; outside bar/cafe. Nice pool. Cons: hotel is old and some rooms are nicer than others. Check-in tends to be slow there and I didn't like the clerk asking for my email address and some other personal info in front of other guests checking in. My room (630) had been updated but the carpet was disgusting - matted and stained. Bathroom […] was very nice and furnishings overall were fine. Great oceanfront location with balcony. I believe that most of the rooms have been sold as "condos" so they're individually owned and it's hard to tell what you're going to get. Mehr

All the rooms are individually owned and decorated or neglected as they see fit. Our 1st room was neglected. TV and Phone didn't work, bathroom celing tile replaced that day due to water damage from room above. They quickly moved us to a better room and were very nice about it. The Litchfield Inn is right on the beach and the only hotel along the beach in this stretch. It is nice to be away from the highrises of Myrtle Beach. But the hotel room was a little tired; the beds weren't that comfortable, and the AC did not reduce the room humidity. The "standard room" was a little cramped; but did have a refrig and microwave. Do not stay here. I am a frequnet business and leisure traveller and this was amongst the top 3 worst hotels I have ever stayed in. It is nothing like the marketing write-up and photos on Hotel.com and other websites. Late check-in, lousy and unfriendly service. Upon arriving at the Litchfield Inn, I was greeted very nicely at the counter. This is where my experience went south. I received a room that was about the size of a shoe box and was not what we requested. I then tried to make arrangements to get the proper room and they were less than willing to work something out, so I requested to cancell my reservations. […] They accommodated me with my request but in the process of receiving a refund, they can't seem to find whether I was a guest at the hotel or not. What a wonderful stay. The room was very nice and clean. The convenience to the beach was perfect. Pools and restaurants on site! An a two minute drive back to route 17. I would stay there again .

No top sheet on bed, tub was dirty and out dated,

We really enjoyed our stay at Litchfield Inn. Although there was sand all over the floor of our room and bathroom.... the room was very pretty. View from our room was great. Loved the pools being so close to the bar and restaurant.. :o)

The room were not extremely big and the humidity in the room was a little high. Could have been the time of year. Overall, it met my expectations were met given a last minute need in the area during peak season.

Good location. Comfortable room. Fun restaurant at poolside. Love view of the ocean from my room!
