Hotel Granduca - Houston

Staying at the Hotel Granduca was such a treat! Beautiful property, excellent location (across the street from plenty of food and shopping) and exceptional service. This will be the ONLY place I'll stay when I'm in Houston.

Could not have been a better visit or experience.

Excellent hotel and location. But the service is slow in the bar - have more people working at the front desk than the bar, waiter was tending bar and waiting tables on New Years Eve. Very polite. Also, we called for the curtesy car and they said 15 minutes, so we came down in 15 minutes, and they let someone else take the car - they didn't really seem […] to care that we were inconvenienced - they said we weren't there and it was first come first serve - after the fact. I experienced slow service at this hotel at the during my lunch order. My room was not ready upon arrival. It took a long time to get drinks at the bar... In addition to deciding to stay and extra night. I had lunch the next day in my room, I was served and charged for 3 bottles of mineral water in which I didn't order. I was assured it would be taken […] off my bill. It wasn't! The food made me ill that evening, and had to stay in at the Hotel, due to sickness. I was informed by the Hotel Staff that my booking agent would be notified, and they where not! When my agent called the Hotel to confirm the addtional stay. They where told that the arrangements was through the Hotel. I was informed by the Hotel that is was verified through my booking agent, another deception! Overall, the service was slow, and the staff out and out lied to me about my room service bill and the additional night stayed. Beautiful Hotel but Very disappointed in the lies that was told to me by the staff on several occasions!! Mehr

Maids were intrusive, no wine or liquor in mini bar so room service charged $90 for 1/2 bottle of average Merlot, opened bottle of water in fridge, safe was located in dark closet, very disappointed. Will stay at 4 Seasons from now on

You really felt like you were somewhere else! From the quaint European-like bar, to the lavish rooms. Everyone who works at the hotel is so friendly, and accommodating, taking care of every detail. We enjoyed our stay, and were able to walk over to Uptown Park for shopping and eating. Will definitely stay here again.

for a one night stay away from home great value for the money. Staff very good at the pool bar .

This hotel was very nice, the beds are okay (slept in way better ones at other hotels). Room service food wasn't the best. Oh, I was very upset at the fact that this hotel charges for self parking.

It was beautiful and luxurious. I just didn't want to leave!

who would have thought??? an EXCELLENT boutique hotel in every aspect EXCEPT ---some of the most uncomfortable mattresses we have slept on!! we cannot complain about anything else in the hotel. excellent service, beautiful rooms, good location and yet --we woke up every morning with sore backs from tossing and turning all night ( we do not have any […] pre-existing back problems ) the problem is that the beds are so very soft , that your body sinks and therefore there is no back support while sleeping. certainly hope the hotel can correct this glaring deficiency. The only five-star criterion about this hotel is the price. The service is poor, the concierge is unknowledgeable, and the room service is cold and limited. I would not stay here again. I didn't get good quality for the money.

The Granduca was a gorgeous, small hotel in a great location close to shopping and restaurants. But if you intend to enjoy the bar, be prepared to pay high dollar for small cocktails.

Hotel was not bad, but expected more for the price. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. First, the shampoo and conditioner in the rooms is not very good quality. Second, parking on Saturday was not what we expected. Self parking is $18/day but we had to park in the back of the parking lot and walk all the way around the hotel at midnight when we got back […] to the room. This is fine, but when you are paying $18/day for parking you would expect to get a better parking spot for the money. Third, the music from the tasting room next door was very loud and I could not sleep because of it. Last, curtain in the room broke and it couldn't be fixed. They offered to move us to a different room, but we decided to stay in the same room as it would have been a hassle to move. Also, spending our 10 year anniversary with them and they did not even do anything special for us.... Mehr

Great property, great location, great amenities, great pool. The size of the rooms is impressive and rare. Service around the pool...VERY slow. If they can get the pool service right...it will be unmatched!

The room, lobby and grounds were beautiful. Very clean, luxurious and quiet. The only thing I could complain about was that the bathroom didn't have a ventilation fan, and we could have used larger bottles of soap/shampoo. Other than those very small issues, this place was as luxurious and nice as I would expect from a 5 star establishment. Very close […] to Houston's Uptown shopping mall and the Galleria mega-mall. The front desk clerk offered me a walking tour of the hotel. Every person I encountered asked if I could use any assistance. My room service dinner was unusually inexpensive. Also, while the menu price for my continental breakfast in the dining room was more typical, instead of just coffee, juice, and a pastry, it included those things plus fresh fruit, […] yogurt, cereal, and an egg. Hotel Granduca met and/or exceeded every expectation we had. When we arrived, we needed not lift a finger to do anything other than obtain our room key. The staff was very accomodating and customer satisfaction was obviously thier priority (not just at checkin, but throughout our stay)! The room was spacious and well appointed. There was plenty of room […] to roam. The surrounding neighborhood was filled with varying selections of restaurants, clothing shops, and places to simply sit and chat. I travel a lot, both domestically and internationally. As an investment, our corporation owns a number of very high-end hotel/resort properties. We recently expanded our business operations in Houston. I've stayed at six 4 Star + properties in Houston over the last 8 months. This is clearly the best! Nice location, room size, pool, gym, lounge ect.... […] You expect this at any hotel of this category. The differentiating factor at this level is the quality and attentiveness of the staff. The Granduca staff is on par with the best hotel staffs in Europe! Mehr

Fantastic service in a palace style hotel, excellent location in Updown, close to Galeria area. Relax at the quiet garden pool and you forget you're in the heart of town. Superb high style restaurant with excellent meny. Clean and spacious rooms with large bathrooms. This is an oasis for a pleasant stay in Houston. Highly recommended
