Hotel Palazzo Stern - Venedig

What a great little place! And so perfectly located to get to everything. Just 2 blocks to the Duomo and Bapistry in the Piazza di San Giovanni. Also, just 3 blocks from the Galleria dell’ Accademia and the statue of David. There are nice little shops on the street, and it’s very quiet at night. (Don’t let the MacDonald’s next door scare you – it isn't […] an issue.) The Junior Suite room was beautifully designed and decorated in a classic old world Italian style. And, as a Junior suite, it was nice and large for 2 people. Unfortunately, one of the beds was a fold out queen. It was comfortable for a foldout bed, but I would have preferred 2 beds. The morning breakfast is great. While it’s typical of a European breakfast, the quality is a notch higher: bruschetta with fresh tomatoes and mozzarella cheese (drizzle with the Extra Virgin Olive oil they have out,) assortment of cheeses, meats, breads, pastries and cereal. Their fresh blueberry yogurt was delicious. Especially when sprinkled with the granola. The staff was friendly and helpful. None of the other hotels we saw seemed to match up. Plus, there’s no problem for a taxi to get to the hotel. By the way – Via Guelfa (left out of the hotel, left at the MacDonald’s) is a great street for delicious, small restaurants. Mehr

We stayed for a long weekend & the staff couldn't have been more helpful. On arrival, feeling a little frazzled after travelling, we were greeted with a cool drink & the gentleman at reception took the trouble to go through the map, pointing out the areas to visit. The hotel was located next to a water bus stop, right on the Grand Canal which was very […] handy (although with the bedroom windows open you could occasionally hear the engines - a small price to pay though for the convenience!). Despite the location on the Grand Canal it was still peaceful & great to sit out on the terrace, watching the world go by. The hotel room was clean & comfortable (although no adequate tea/coffee making facilities but they were more than happy to bring hot drinks up to the room on request). The hotel building is stunning (make sure you climb the stairs to the top floor!) I would definitely recommend this hotel & on my return to Venice, guess where we'll be staying! Mehr

Stayed here for a couple days and could not have been happier. The young gentleman who checked us in was super friendly and very helpful. From the front desk personal, the bellman and the great breakfast server, we were convinced that they all deserve five stars. We found the service to be fantastic! The staff was extremely courteous and helpful. You could not ask for a better location, right on the Grand Canal with a Vaporetto (Water Bus) stop out front. The included breakfast was great each morning but did not vary. The hotel has a new elevator, which came in handy after a long day of walking - and many flights […] of stairs to climb to get "home". We found the bathroom to be disappointing. The large sink commanded the majority of the vanity surface and we found the off centre faucet and off centre knobs to be annoying! There was little room to lay out toiletries. The magnifying mirror was fantastic! The tub/shower was quite deep and a bit higher than the floor, making it difficult to get in and out. It was also slippery inside. We'd suggest a grab bar, as well. The skirt of our tub was duct taped on. During our stay, Internet service (included) was inconsistent. We were impressed by the use of the room key card to maintain electrical power in the room. TV (LCD screen) was very limited, with only CNN for our viewing. In short, we loved our stay but would have appreciated a more "user friendly" bathroom. Mehr

Marvelous hotel: Room very comfortable facing onto garden away from sounds of the Grand Canal, and the staff was very helpful, particular in looking after us when one of us had an accident and required an ambulance and hospital treatment. On an aside: Our treatment at the Venice Hospital was first class - as this was a head injury, there was a full work-up including a head scan and 24 hour observation stay - nothing but kudos for the hospital, the staff and our exposure to the Venetian medical system. We stayed at the palazzo Stern for two days in July 2011. The hotel is very nice and in a very good location. The staff were great.

This is the second time we've stayed at the Palazzo Stern in Venice. It's every bit as good (if not better) than the more expensive 5 star hotels. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable. Lovely small hotel in excellent location. Breakfast reasonable. Hot water system very peculiar, running cold every few seconds, so that the bath tap had to be turned off and then on again to reignite. Difficult to have a hot enough bath, but shower was fine. Temperature of room was also controlled centrally as was hot towel rail that only came on a […] 7pm and not before, despite asking concierge, who thought the room was warm enough. We didn't! We stayed for 2 nights in October 2010. Plus points: Good location- close enough to the sights but relatively peaceful area, 20m from Waterbus stop. The hotel was everything the reviews said it was - and more! Our room was great, the staff were brilliant and the location of the hotel perfect for seeing all the sights. A gondola "ferry"right next to the hotel takes you across the canal for a very small fee - if you don't want to go via the Accademia bridge. It was my wife's special birthday while […] we were there and we found a bottle of champagne in our room from the hotel when we returned in the afternoon. Very indifferent administrative staff, but bell hops waiters et. al were cordial and accomodating. The reception desk forgot to return our passports. We were at Piazzale Roma when we realized we didn't have them. We called the Hotel but they didn't have anyone to bring them to us. One of us had to return to the Hotel to retrieve them. We had a great stay at the Hotel Palazzo Stern in Venice. Our room was a Jr. suite that overlooked the grand canal. It was very large for Europe standards, clean and very comfortable. Palazzo Stern in Venice tops my list of favorite hotels anywhere! It's a magnificen hotel right on the Grand Canal and the vaporetto stops just a few yards from the entrance. We were greeted with a drink and asked to sit down and relax while they accessed our reservation. They showed us several rooms and asked us which one we'd like. The building has […] the feel of a private palace (which it is) and the rooms are truly luxurious. Breakfast is a treat. The staff couldn't be more helpful. Fantastic location,completely renovated,helpful staff

Room was in superb condition and maintained during the course of the day. Staff proved to be accommodating. Breakfast on the Grand Canal a delight.

Couldn't fault the hotel. Lovely, quiet room. Very friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast is terrific and offers something for all appetites and tastes. Even better, you can sit on a lovely terrace and watch the boats on the Grand Canal as you're eating. On top of all that, the hotel is superbly located, being literally around the corner as you […] come off the vaporetto at Ca' Rezzonico. The same stop also has a gondola crossing, so that if you really can't find your way home on foot, or are too tired to do any more exploring, you can be guaranteed to get back fairly simply once you locate any vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. It's also a short walk to the Accademia or the Guggenheim. The first time you go perhaps just ask one of the staff to draw in the route on the map they helpfully provide at the front desk. Enjoy. It was like staying in your own little palace. Excellent localization away from noisy crowds yet easy access to vaporretto.From the train station, the water taxi just take you to its doors(literally).Staff was great,very corteous and helpful. We were so pleased with the absolute beauty of this hotel! When we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome, and because we were too early to check-in, we left our luggage and toured Venice. When we came back, there was a surprising bottle of Champagne and a birthday note since the hotel had noticed through travel documents that it was my birthday. […] Because this was a special occassion vacation (celebrating our nieces great achievements and graduation from high school)we had requested a Jr. Suite with a view of the Grand Canal. When we saw the room that we had received, we were disappointed with the view, and the hotel worked dilligently to find us another room. They did an outstanding job in working with us and in finding us the perfect room with a gorgeous view of the canal for our four night stay. We couldn't have been more pleased, and highly recommend this hotel to others while they are in Venice. It's gorgeous, the service is excellent and the full breakfast in the morning is outstanding. Excelente hotel, con calidad en todos los aspectos posibles. El servicio es amable y diligente. El edificio está muy bien conservado, tanto en el exterior, como en el interior.
