Besides below par housekeeping service, the staff was superb. The gym is nice even if they need an exercise bench. It is walk distance to the riverside trail which is great for jogging, walk to PNC or Heinz and in strip district which has all your shopping. All cabs know the hotel and gonna stay again next year

Evrything was great in pittsburgh this past weekend. Could have used a phillies win to make it perfect. I hate to talk it up to much in fear we won't be able to get a room here again. But in all honestly we find this to be the best location to be close enough to walk every where we wanted to go. The strip, ball park, down town, all within a couple minutes […] walk. Mehr

The only problem I had with my stay was that the Phillies lost the game.

I am usually not the type of person to write a review, but if your like me then thats all you have to go by when you've never seen the place before. I am very leary when it comes to staying in hotels, is it clean, does it have that funny smell, were the sheets washed? I cant say enough great things about this hotel. My family and I spent our spring […] break 2012 on vacation in Pittsburgh and stayed at a wonderful hotel, Hampton Inn and Suites on Smallman St. This hotel was wonderful, the breakfast was great, the indoor pool was clean and the room was spaceous. We have stayed here 2 times now and will stay there again. The staff is very helpful and the rooms are clean and spacious. The free breakfast is wonderful and there was a nice variety except for the "sausage gravy" which looked absolutely gross, would have preferred bacon or sausage but other than that, everything was great.

We stayed in town for a hockey game and then spent the night. It was an afternoon game and was very close to the Consol Energy Center to walk. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the rooms were very clean, as were the hallways and the rest of the hotel. Very impressed with the complimentary breakfast the following morning, EXCELLENT! Close to the Consol Center without the traffic. The suites were spacious, the beds were very comfortable and breakfast was pretty good. Clean building and friendly staff. My only complaint is that the pool area was small and kids were in the hot tub in the evening when we were hoping to get in.

Everything was fine, loved the parking in the rear of hotel.

We loved this hotel and will stay here again and again. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bedding is very comfortable. The bathroom is beautiful and the shower is tall enough for the 6ft+ folks. Free parking and breakfast are a rare find in downtown Pittsburg, but they have both. The location is great for visiting […] either stadium, the "strip", the casino, the inclines, union station, etc. The hotel was completely booked when we visited, but still quiet. The only issue we had was that the breakfast room was incredibly crowded and seating was at a premium. Next time we will be sure to go earlier and avoid the rush. When looking for a hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, you can't go wrong staying at this gem. Mehr

IN SHORT: I highly recommend this hotel--VERY clean, friendly, accommadating! Our main purpose for being in Pittsburgh was a Pens hockey game. We decided to book this hotel not only for the great nightly rate, but also for the rating that this hotel showed online. From the moment we walked in the door we were greeted very well. The room was wonderful! […] Nice and large, but most importantly--VERY CLEAN! I have been in some hotels that I hated to even sleep in the bed, but no the case here. The service desk staff are wonderful too. We were unsure what time the gates opened at Consol so we called the desk. Holly wasn't sure of the answer, but she called us back in a couple of minutes with the info and even gave us written directions for walking to Consol (I assume they would also have driving directions, but it was nice so we wanted to walk). I was also very impressed with the breakfast selection that was complimentary! Lots of different foods from which to choose! Mehr

Resonable rate for location. Close to The Strip District, Convention Center, all three sports venues, downtown area and Heinz History Museum. Large room. Will return for an other stay without hesitation.

It was wonderful!!!! Beautiful rooms, spotless, comfy beds very friendly workers. Great pool area , breakfast was good. walking distance to alot of area attractions. Would absolutely recommend...

The hotel was well kept and staff was very friendly, I would stay there again, it is close too the strip district and the Western PA sport museum is across the street.

Great hotel, friendly staff and nice rooms

The hotel shuttle takes you right into downtown for no charge and picks you up when needed. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We brought our 3 month old puppy and there was a space for pets to use right across the street from the hotel. Overall it was a pleasant experience.

It was the perfect location to the stripe district, market square, and heiz field. the service desk was very helpful with directions and sites to see. And the continential breakfast was good. We didn't have a complaint at all. Plus we did not need to ride the bus or rental a car, wherever we went was walking distance.

The room was fantastic. I recommend everyone to stay at least once and I bet you will return.

Perfect for seeing everything downtown: games, shopping, ballet, dinners! Nice facilities, breakfast & hot cookies in the evening! Will be returning I'm sure!

I've stayed in plenty of places and I have to say that when I come to pittsburgh again I will definately be staying here! Kimmy at the reservation desk really made us feel welcome and made the stay memorable for my family! I can't say enough to say how great it was!

Great location, you can walk to market, parks, and museums. Free parking is awesome!

Fantastic hotel, and the convenience of the local sites was fantastic. Went for a hockey game and would definitely stay again.

We love staying here when we visit Pittsburgh. It is close to the convention center and easy to find. The staff is wonderful. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed.

This Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown Pittsburgh is very convenient to most of this beautiful cities activities. You can also access the shuttle to the casino if you like. Rooms are clean. Staff exceptionally friendly. The continental breakfast was decent, just not enough room for all the people to sit.

We always stay at the Hampton when we come to Pittsburgh. All three sports arenas are within walking distance..and the restaurants nearby are fantastic.

My husband and I were in town for our honeymoon. We went to the Brewers/Pirates game and I was very excited about how close and easy the ball park was to get to! The hotel was great and the staff was very friendly. Our room was HUGE and it was great that they had free parking! I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

A great location at a great price! The staff was very friendly and the room was very clean. Nice to have free parking and breakfast included. The hotel had everything we needed and was within walking distance of PNC Park and other city attractions. Will be back again next year!!

I was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of of the entire hotel. The breakfast buffet was more than the average hotel free breakfast, very pleasantly surprised. Quiet and convenient to downtown.

Great place to stay. Staff was awesome, always kind and helpful. Breakfast was something different everyday and had plenty of choices to pick from. Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again when visiting Pitt.
