"Wir hatten Top-Service"Bewertet von einem Hotels.com-Gast am 19. Jan. 2013

"Axel not up to standard, far from its BCN sister"
cheaply renovated buidling from 60's. Trying to get design hotel feeling with some cosmetic. The windows are the old original ones and isolate nothing from the noisy street. Earplugs provided is maybe a plus:). Renovation badly done towel hooks, toilet paper holders etc are all so loose that they are unusuable. One day we had no phone and internet, […] one day we didnt have any TV next day we didnt have any water. We had to depart wihtout having a shower. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung

The hotel is a great hotel. Very gay friendly. The area isn't bad just bohemian feeling. The spa area had a horrible odor that smelled like sewage that crept into the rest of the hotel. And yet they were still charging for the spa. The sauna and jacuzzi could stand to be cleaned but over all I had a good visit thereAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Just Awful"
Booked and paid 3 nights but could only last 1, left at 7am the next morning to find somewhere safer, friendlier, quieter and better maintained. Where do I begin...... the lift and room keys constantly malfunctioned, the safe didnt work, we had to pay to access pool/gym even tho they call it a 4 star hotel, the location was extremely unsafe at nighttime, […] the room was noisy from both street noise and music from the bar going late into night, reception was unhelpful and not knowledgable. The hotel states they are "hetero friendly" and while we are open minded and accepting but we felt distincly uncomfortable as the whole place was nothing more than a homosexual meat market. Unless that is solely what you are looking for then AVOID at all costs.... MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung

"Stylish hotel, but service and location poor"
Stayed here twice - with friends. Stylish hotel and decent sized, well furnished rooms. Main issue is lack lustre service and poor location (central, but not in a very safe/nice area at night). Not expensive though.Authentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Great Pool Party"
The Sunday Pool Party, although ends early (at 10 p.m.), was a hot event. The hotel is very nice and trendy. Rooms are small. Breakfast is decent and staff is friendly. The spa area with the indoor pool need renovation. The steamroom was not functioning. The outdoor pool area is in need of some attention. The room overlooking the pool and garden was […] a great choice. Orhers said the rooms on the street side were noisy at night. Although the hotel is not in the greatest location it was not far from the attractions I was interented in. A short walk to a bus stop or taxi cabs in front of the hotel. The car that the hotel arranged to the airport ended up costing double due to a road closure. Not sure why the driver didn't know this in advance and plan the route accordinly. Overall, I had a nice stay there. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Over-rated design hotel"
Had heard mixed reviews from friends before staying here - so was not surprised that it might be flawed. Not expensive when I booked and room is fun/decent sized; but rooms at rear and front of property can be noisy; staff indifferent; and location not great. We cancelled a later stay here given first experience earlier in our holiday.Authentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Hotel in San Telmo."
The hotel is very modern . The shower is in the middle of room with glass walls. If you are planning to share the room with a friend perhaps you wont have much privacy when taking showers. The hotel's primary audience is LGBT. The drinks and coffee are very expensive based on Buenos aires standards.Authentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"Modern Hotel in a Great Location!"
The hotel is in a great location, really close to everything we wanted to see and the staff were really friendly. I was with my boyfriend who speaks Spanish but they spoke English to me when they could. The decor of the hotel was very modern and I loved the design of the rooms. Definitely for a younger crowd and best for couples, but I'm sure everyone […] would be welcome. The rooms were very modern looking, with a clear shower that's open on 3 sides... their slogan "walls are optional" was fitting, but in a good way; a very fun atmosphere - the toilet paper had paw prints and dogs on it :) MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
"Great time visiting BA by first time!!"
In general I had a great time with the hotel itself, the staff was very friendly and since it was my first time in BA they were very helpful with questions. The hotel itself is beautiful but the area where is located is not so much (not a place it makes you want to take walks alone at night, nevertheless I had no problems doing so). So if that is an […] issue, better to stay somewhere else. During the day you can walk to Puerto Madero, to San Telmo festival on Sunday or take taxis (very cheap) everywhere else. "Great Hotel...Great Location"
This Axel property is great. The staff were superb, and I had nothing but the best service. We made several calls to the front desk for special requests, all of which were met with a positive attitude and were accommodated swiftly. The staff were friendly, polite, spoke English well, and would always smile and greet you. If you have stayed at other […] Axel hotels, then you know what your room will be like. We had a standard room with a king-size bed and were very comfortable. The sheets were clean and crisp, the floor spotless, and the bathroom clean and in good condition. The hotel itself is well kept. The outdoor pool area was nice, and there was sufficient space to relax, with comfortable lounges. The indoor spa area and pool were also nice, and the heated(!) pool was fantastic. There is one drawback to this property...the neighborhood of San Telmo where it is located. San Telmo is congested and messy. While we knew we were not staying in the Recoleta or Palermo, we were still a bit surprised at the condition of the entire San Telmo barrio. For the record, we did not have any problems with anyone while out and about, and would say, in general, the neighborhood is safe. Overall, I would stay at this Axel Hotel again. The neighborhood condition not withstanding, the geographic location in the city is fantastic, and is located a short walk from all the sights, transportation, restaurants and "kioskos" you will need for an enjoyable stay in Buenos Aires. "good"
On my arrival I asked if I would be able to extent 2 more days at the same rate and I was told there would be no problem. Next day when I went to confirm my extended stay I was told the rate per night would be twice the amount ,I had paid before . That was not nice and left your place to the nearest hotel which turned out to be very good and with just […] few dollars more than what I paid you. On my return to BA i stayed again there. "Pleasant stay"
Hotel is very nice and trendy. Rooms are small. The single city rooms state a king-size bed but the bed is actually made of 2 twins together without mattress pad to make a king one. So you feel the crack in the middle. I got moved and upgraded for free to a real king-size bed unit. Also, the city rooms are quite noisy because of street. Get a room on […] the other side of the hotel which is very quiet. Breakfast is decent and staff is friendly. Business center's computers are in the hallways right in front of room # 306 & 406. It can be quite annoying when people are using the computers in the middle of the night and not being very quiet. Overall, I had a nice stay there. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung

"lots for less"
It is a design hotel. I got a room on the street side since I booked the cheapest one from Expedia.com. It was bit noisy, but there are earplugs available in the rooom. The bed was king size and very confortable, shouwer at the entrence of the room with glas walls and a seperated wc. There were two outlet with universal adapter available in the room. […] So, you do not need to buy any adapter for your electronic equipment. They thought about every detail in the room.... there is even a condom available(free of charge) just in case! There is a swimpool and a sauna availble for the guests. I am really impressed about this hotel. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
"Nice hotel, bad spa."
We only stayed at the Axel for one night so its hard to write a balanced review on a short stay. The hotel service was great, very friendly, and helpful. The neighborhood is quite dead at night, and you have to seek out places to eat (its safe though), but there are two VERY good restaurants within a 5 min walk, both listed in TimeOut... so have a […] look. The hotel is quirky, and has a nice bar to chill and a pool and sun terrace out back which is great. We upgraded our room to a suite on arrival, and the room itself was fantastic, well put together, very comfortable and lots on offer. Only draw back was the acoustics (You could here EVERYTHING) in the next room, and the air conditioning did not work... apart from this it was great. I think I have written this on other Argentinian hotel review however that maintenance is a BIG issue; particularly of the SPA! You have to pay an additional sum to use the spa on the room, which has a pool (like a plunge pool) Jacuzzi, steam and sauna rooms as well as a gym. This I think is an utter rip off. You can say Hotel & Urban Spa if in a 4 start hotel you then have to PAY for the spa... as a guest you can even use the gym unless you pay extra... I have never encountered this. Not only that but you pay for the facilities and then find that some of it does not work and most of it (Steam room particularly) if not even maintained! it was pretty poor. Sorry! If you have stayed at AXEL in Berlin you will be disappointed with the Buenos Aires experience... but if you expecting a rather ordinary international hotel with a spa on the roof and dot expect it to smell great, then its fine. "Axel Hotel in San Telmo, Buenos Aires"
Trendy hotel in a transitional area. The unusual layout of the bedrooms take a bit of getting used to but are more than adequate. Friendly and helpful staff with free wi-fi and a good breakfast included. San Telmo is an "edgy" area where the real puertonenos (Buenos Aires people) live and so there are lots of broken pavements and potholes that anyone […] who is in a wheelchair or needs assistance to walk would find impossible to get around and would be reliant upon taxis. That said I loved the area - filled with great restaurants, famous antique markets and lively bars. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung

Great location for downtown BA sights. We stayed there while we saw those sights but moved hotels so we could be close to the sights of Palermo later on. Hotel was clean and very trendy. "Good hotel, bad location"
Axel is a heterofriendly hotel, which means, it is a gay hotel that welcomes hetero guests. It is a good hotel, nice pool and spa, etc, but the location is not good at all, even being close to San Telmo. For gay people, it is far from all the nightlife, Palermo and etc. It is good if you are planning to enjoy the hotel. "Axel Hotel BsAs - Style and Warmth - all in one"
The Axel has all the class and style of any upscale hotel in New York City without superficial attitude. From meeting Alexis who checked us in - a delightful, warm and incredibly helpful man. During check-in conversation we discovered that while the room we had requested was available we had been upgraded to a suite! What a great surprize because we […] were celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary and my birthday. It was a lovely gift. The suite was spacious and very comfortable with all the amenities of home. Our only complaint was the weather - the pouring rain meant we could not take advantage of the beautiful outdoor pool space. Of course there is an indoor pool on the top floor! Among the amenities available is a masseur. Do yourself a big favour and book a massage with Marcelo. Not only will you feel wonderful but you'll sleep like a baby. Certainly this is a hotel I would highly recommend when you're in Buenos Aires. MehrAuthentische Hotels.com-Gästebewertung
"A Jewel in the Rough"
I am very happy that I found this little jewel of a boutique hotel in the middle of an old neighborhood of Buenos Aires just off one of the main drags, Avenida de Julio. Just after I checked in, I wanted to order something to eat, so I sat outside on one of the terraces and had a gourmet salad with very tasty ham and cheese grilled sandwich. Service […] was excellent. Staff was very helpful and friendly at all times of the day or evening. The young ladies who were on the housekeeping staff were eager to make sure everything was just how I wanted it. I was very comfortable there and would certainly look forward to returning again. Stayed because it was predominantly gay, but this was not a great value, and far from everything. The surroundings are dirty, like most of BA, and scary at night. The staff was mostly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included , but not fully cooked, and lacking variety or taste. The hotel is very run down. For the money, one could stay in a much […] better location and in a much better hotel. I am well-travelled so trust me. I would not return to this hotel or to Argentina. Everything would have been ok except for: 1. They gave us the handicap room, even though we did not need that 2. There was blood (yes, blood) on the sheets, had to ask for new sheets late at night. 3. At 7 am we woke up with all the noise from the restaurant, the room was right next to it. 4. We were told we would get our money back for all the listed […] points and a few days later I get an e-mail from the manager saying they dont believe the blood stain was there (and yes, they saw it), and that they wont give us the money back. "Nice Hotel; Neighborhood Not So Bad Either"
We were very pleased with our stay at the Axel - - nice hotel, friendly staff, enjoyable spa, reasonable rate. We had been warned that the neighborhood was not so convenient or nice, and it is in fact a bit shady, but it was an easy 10 minute walk to the main Plaza and the subway stops and just a few blocks from the San Telmo market on Sunday, so don't […] let the location scare you away. We were VERY welcomed and the service at this hotel was superb!!! Alexis and Santiago were AMAZING!!! They were extremely service oriented and made our stay very pleasurable. It was particularly challenging for us in this primarily Spanish speaking country, however, the staff spoke English and they knew a lot about the area and how to guide us. We would […] definitely recommend. I was a little put off by the location of the hotel since it is on a street with parking lots and it felt a little like a transitory neighborhood. However, having said that, we walked everywhere from the hotel and everyone was very friendly and helpful. I actually had no worries, dispite my initial fears. I also think its useful to mention that there was a high gay population that actually added to our experience. Well educated men from all over the world. Very interesting conversations. Easy access to the main street where we walked all over the city, downtown, Ricoleta, the theatre and more. MehrAuthentische Expedia-Gästebewertung
