Hotel Gli Dei - Pozzuoli

Stayed in this hotel before. Used this hotel as a base to see Pompeii, Paestum, Amalfi Coast, Capri.

Beautiful resort type hotel but extremely far from the center of town if you need to reach the ports as i did for Ischia and Procida. Cab bill is quite high. There is a rather long walk down to the main street if you want to take the bus to the Third Largest Colesseum in town. Very nice place to visit. This hotel was an oasis for us. It was hard finding the hotel because you have to drive all the way to the top of the hill. But once you got there, the view is breathtaking, the outdoor pool is huge and clean. since it sits on a hill, one side of the view is the gulf of naples and the other side is the city. Best of all, the hotel has FREE wireless!!! […] made our day. Hotel was well kept, clean and they have a huge restaurant for inside as well as outside dining. Very romantic. Also the best mattress compared to all the european beds we slept in. Can't say enough good about it !!! :) Mehr

This is a nice Hotel with a great view, but be aware that it is not very close to the Naples airport and that you will have to either rent a car (which I don't recommend in the Naples area) or pay approx 50 Euro for a cab ride. The hotel sits way up a hill so walking to and from the street is not very practical. The staff was very helpful and once you […] are there you can take the metro trains back into the central train station for only a couple of Euros. I suppose you could find your way to the Pozzouli area from the airport or train station via metro if you feel comfortable which makes the hotel much more attractive price wise. Hotel Gli Dei had a certain atmosphere about it that reminded me of watching some old movies with classic hotels in it. That is what came to mind when I arrived and saw the hotel. It has this classic feel about it. My room was quite comfortable with only three exceptions. The bed mattress was quite hard making laying down on it a bit uncomfortable […] after doing so for a period of time. The second was the tv. it was a small convential CRT tv that the screen size was about 13". Not a big detriment, but made watching tv a bit of a problem if I was on my bed and trying to catch any detail in the programming. The last issue, and the heavy curtains blocked that out, was a bright spotlight shined into my window. As I said, pulling the shades across prevented the light from shining into the room, although it did shine into the bathroom, again not much of an issue for me. Hotel Gli Dei does have it's own restaurant although I feel that the menu was quite limited. I did enjoy the Spaghetti with tomatoes and basil. I also ordered the filet steak and that was very tender and juicy. The staff was accomodating to all my questions and requests for information. I did enjoy my view from my window as it provided me an unobstructed view of Mt Vesuvio. They also have rooms facing the Bay of Pozzuoli and in the evening that can be very relaxing to sit on the patio outside those rooms and relax as the sun sets over the bay. Mehr

Having read all of the reviews, I was expecting far worse. The hotel was quite nice, but like other reviewers have stated, it would be a stretch to call it a 4 star (see review by EuroWalkers located elsewhere). Nonetheless, it was clean, the A/C worked, our car was secure and the facility was clean. The hotel is located on a steep hill, so hopefully […] your car can make it…there were times I wasn’t sure our rental would. As others have noted, the included breakfast was very sparse, so I would budget time and money to stop elsewhere for a more filling meal. Mehr

We stayed at Gli Dei for 2 nights and wished it had been longer because this was one of the best hotels we stayed at during our 2 week road trip of Italy. The pool and poolside were very clean and relaxed, with plenty of loungers and great views over the area. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. Staff were helpful. The only (minor) problem […] was with breakfast - bacon & scrambled eggs were cold and had clearly been left for ages - however there was plenty of good food (croissants, cake, ham, cheese etc) to make up for it. This hotel was fabulous. The view from both our room and the pool area was absolutely breathtaking. The hotel was extremely clean and well set up, in particular the pool area and seating was luxurious. The staff were the most helpful I have encountered and when our hire car broke down, they spent time arranging for recovery and a new car to come to […] the hotel (our italian was not so good so this was invaluable). Erg mooi en rustig gelegen hotel boven op een berg met mooi zwembad en uitzicht op de omgeving. Enig nadeel is ligging boven op de berg met een erg steile toegangsweg.

Nice hotel with a high standard and an amazing view. Placed on the hills of Solfatara, which unfortunately in between gives bad smell. The room was fine, but there were only towels for 3 though we were 4. We booked this hotel partially because it had a nice pool area, but as there was a big wedding held on the hotel with 320 guests, the pool was closed […] and we had no information about that in advance, which left us no chance to switch to another hotel. Also this was not compensated in the payment. The restaurant was closed but the friendly staff opened it up, just for us - that was a nice service ! Mehr

Men lidt lugtgener fra den nærtliggende udslukte vulkan. Morgenmaden er rigtig "italiensk" dvs. tørt brød, men gode croissanter.

Très bon accueil. Personnel serviable et très disponible. Piscine pratique Hôtel bruyant et un coup de neuf serait le bien venu

Perfekt udsigt fra hotellet. Dejligt, stort værelse med stor altan. Ligger på et bjerg og der er et stykke ned til byen, så det var en fordel at have en bil.

Fint hotell i en heller elendig område av Italia. Hotellets service var helt greit men minte litt om Faulty towers. Hotellet blir brukt hovedsakelig til bryllup så til tider stengte bassenget samt at bryllupsgjestene okkupertet mer eller mindre hele hotellet. Dette er et område i Italia vi ikke kommer til å reise tilbake til. Området rundt besto av […] falleferdige hus omgitt av søppel. Mehr

We reserved the hotel because of the swimming pool - and were very surprised to find out it not only has a nice and big pool but also a fantastic view of the Napoli bay area! The staff was very helpful and spoke good English. As for breakfast, we missed some good substantial items and could easily do without the many different (sweet) cakes. More müesli […] please, less sugary desserts! Finding the hotel was a bit of a challenge, climbing the hill even more so for our little Fiat! The family rooms, allowing us to stay in one room together with our teenage children was a fine and not to expensive solution. Mehr

Grandiose, vues splendides, resto et petit déjeuner super, palmiers, piscine magnifique, internet et parking gratuits, à 2 pas de la solfatare. Accueil correct, un peu froid parfois, disons professionnel et courtois.

The Hotel is very clean, and very good help at the reception. The room was clean, and very nice airconditioned. The TV worked, and the wifi was excellent. The bathroom was clean and very nice. You have to be aware that its on the side of a mountain, so the road there is very difficult to get up at, unless youre in a car. I would have been a perfect […] stay, with the nice breakfast arrangement and the pool. But the pool closed sometimes because of weddings. I would stay there again, but I would hear before if there is weddings And you can smell the sulfar from Solfatara on the Hotel, if the wind blows in that direction. The wiew is exellent. A balcony to go out on in the morning, to see over Naples, and Vesuv, nice. Mehr
