Rooms were very nice. Was moved into a room with a King size bed without any problems. Areas this hotel could improve is the small stuff, better pillows, new towels for bathroom, the other are worn out. The grounds were very well kept and clean. The beach in very disappointing. The hotel was very nice, Clean rooms. Too big of a resort. Highlight of our trip was snorkeling and jerk chicken. Specifically it is unbelievable how many different verity of colorful fishes you get to see right at the resort and included in the package. Jerk chicken was very good but only served between noon - 3:00pm and even that too we had to wait […] almost everyday for 20 - 30 mins. It ran out quickly. I would recommend bringing your own container if you are a beer drinker. The glasses are very small and the resort being so big you have to walk some distance to get a refill. Service was hit and miss. We had hard time booking diner at one of the restaurants. Partly because we were party of 11. Could be easy for smaller group. Buffet were okay, nothing very special. If I were to go next time I would look for 5 start, little smaller resort. You may have to pay just little more as this resort is not cheap either. It would be worth. Mehr

This is a very large resort and always seemed overcrowded. The a la cart resturaunts had no availability for a family of five they kept trying to give us reservations for two; therefore we had to eat the buffet for every meal which was little to be desired. The hotel and staff were generally very good. The only issue is the hotel's "Privilege Club". The staff constantly hounds you to sign up for their time share program. All the people who had this program were generally unhappy with it and did not recommend dealing with this company. The staff refused to take "no" for an answer and would incessantly harrass […] guests to get them to sign up, because the staff gets paid on commission. Our family of 4 enjoyed the sheer size and diversity of the hotel. You don't appreciate the excellent beach as it is not in front of the main hotel but its worth the walk and there is excellent food and drink right on the beach. The jerk chicken and/or pork is better on the beach than from the main buffet and the daily paella at the beach is also excellent. The […] pool is extensive and an excellent change of pace from the beach. The rooms clean and reasonable in size. Something as minor as the quality of the toilet paper could be improved, The TVs small but excellent variety of cable programming. The main buffet quite good but not as good as our visit last year. We saw signs of cost cutting, such as hard to get a glass of the house wine but easy to order the upscale wine bottle at an additional cost. My family would not know the difference and simply did without wine most nights at dinner. Deserts attractively presented but the taste only ordinary to average. The landscape of the resort was beautiful. We felt the large size of the resort caused some of the other things they offer to be lacking. The food at the resort was not ever hot. Arrived the day after Hurricane Sandy. Expected to see the hotel in ruins. The staff had the entire premises clean within hours. The food was excellent at the buffet and the restaurants. The biggest selling point of the hotel was how CLEAN it was. Club Golden room put us ocean-front on an upper level. Staff catered to the few small problems we had at […] arrival (towels, extra bed request). Very family friendly everywhere on resort. Everything was as advertised. All-inclusive really was ALL-INCLUSIVE. Even the shopping area on site hosted several stores with options for all souvenirs/gifts. Drank the water, NO stomach issues!!! The resort is between Ocho Rios and Montego Bay, so you can enjoy excursions in either direction without traveling too far. I've been to Jamaica before and stayed in a hotel that couldn't compare to this one. Traveled in late-October and the beach and pool felt like they were private for my family (only a handful of people using beach and even less on the beach). I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS RESORT! Mehr

The first room was great but near construction...so my husband requested another room. We were placed on the other side of the resort which was old and in need of some updating. No way to double lock the door, no do not disturb sign and the towels were old and dingy. Stayed here the first weekend of October. The resort is very large and since it was off-season, it seemed even larger. Expedia's VIP check-in allowed me to skip the concierge to a private Gold's Club check-in. This was a nice bonus. The hotel was clean, as were our room. Mini fridge was replinished daily. This hotel blew us away. The room was nice and clean. The view was to die for the bathroom was fantastic especially the jacuzzi bath. The numerous restaurants to choose from was phenomenal. The staff were friendly and polite. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on every level we will definitely visit again and again and again .

Do your research, focus on the negative reviews and make sure you are willing to deal with whatever they experienced. Personally I had a wonderful stay at the Grand Bahia, the staff was outstanding and at no time were they ever rude or unaccommodating. The food was good and they do their best to cater to everyone. The only difference I saw with the […] room, was the tv. If you want the flat screen pay for the upgrade, but remember your in Jamaica what the hell are you doing watching tv. The property is well kept and security is always present, they even have a guard on each building day and night. At no point in time did I feel threatened or harassed. Be prepared to walk, this is not a place for lazy people but you don't have to rush. Oh, if you have it to spare tip the staff. Not because you have to but because the deserve it. Mehr

Our family of 4 stayed here the week of Aug 11-Aug 18. Called after booking to request a room on the 3rd floor or higher, beach front, and 2 rooms close together. All of my requests were met on check in. The rooms were beautifully decorated and clean. We had a problem with a leak from the room above. Called the front desk and maintenance was there within […] 1/2 hour and repaired it in 10 minutes. The food at the buffet was very good. Each night was a different country's theme. The restaurants were great. Food and service was very good. Mosquitoes are a problem (not the hotel's fault) blame it on Jamaica. I recommend taking bug spray and using it as soon as you get off the plane. There are 2 beaches 1-swimming, crystal clear water soft sand bottom. The other for snorkling. The hotel is very beautiful. There are plenty of pool and beach chairs. However, the resort is almost too big with over 800 rooms, the quality of service and food was not exactly the greatest but it was decent. I am spoiled with previously staying in 5 star resorts. We had a great time because we were a fun group but if you are looking to find young single people, don't go to this resort. The bathroom smelled, we had to change rooms because the first room we had had a broken bed and half the electricity didn't work, and it was on the side of the hotel that was still being constructed, the walls in the room were cracked some cracks were very large. It took 8 hours to get a new room, we decided to move oursel on a good ves instead of waiting […] on the bellhop and when we got to the lobby there was several bellhops standing around. Room wasn't ready when we entered the room, we had to take our own bags to the room. The mesh on the bed post had dead insect on it, the water from the toilet was running constantly, the shower drain was blocked up. We made complain about all these problems and nothing was done about it. The entertainment crew was good and also the gym instructor.

Well, I am a frequent traveler and I am a Caribbean too. I will be as fair as possible. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, I have a few complaints. First, there were no "Do Not Disturb" tags available. Hence, the housekeeping staff would knock anywhere from 8:30-9:30A.M. If you were in the room, they would request for YOU to pick up the dirty […] towels and hand them over. I am sorry;I am on vacation. I do not want to be disturbed let alone, be asked to pick up my own towels. It seems like a lot of the guests were locals. Did not mind that but I did not have ONE restful night at this hotel. People were walking down the hall screaming, speaking loudly at ALL times of the night. REALLY??? incredibly annoying. It doesn't end there of course. My coffee maker in the room did not work. It took THREE phone calls to get a replacement. Next, the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. As i mentioned, i didn't have ONE restful night. Do I recommend this place? if you don't mind any of these inconveniences go ahead, the food was great although, that brings up another issue. Many times i sat in the dining room waiting for utensils, water, etc. Don't get me wrong, i am not hard to please. But these flows are annoying and for the money paid? NOT acceptable. Good luck. Only stayed at hotel for the first 3 days of my holiday, it was a lovely start to my holiday. I went with my boyfriend who loved it also. The room is lovely and large (this was the basic suite) as was the bed. Have stayed at many hotels, this one I have to say had the best bathroom (helped by the jacuzzi). Did get bitten, but that happened everywhere […] I went, The catering was lovely. the food was also very good, especially the Japanese restaurant and the Jerk Pit. The hotel is an hour away from the airport and there is really nothing around the hotel in terms of a night life. The property is nice with beautiful scenery. The front lobby staff was okay, nothing special. There was a lady at the activities reservation area who was a total hag, just rude and unfriendly... We were starting to think the entire staff […] was like that however when we went to eat and walk around staff was very friendly. The beaches on the property are man made and covered in rocks so bring water shoes of sorts if you plan on going to the beach. The hotel rooms were decent, except you could hear everything happening in the hall way. If you want to make reservations for a restaurant there, go early and try to find someone who looks happy. The total hotel experience was very disappointing. The hotel WIFI in the room was weak with intermittent signal drop. The hotel guest elevator was out of operations for two days. We were on the 7th floor, we had to walk up & down seven flights of stairs. I am Asthmatic with a heart condition. (The hotel service elevator was out of operations also). […] The room refrigerator was only partially stocked daily. Limited towels & wash cloths were surplied daily. we recommend the gran bahia hotel located in runaway bay jamacia. The entire staff @ gran bahia from the front desk, workers,supervision,waiters,waitress, cooks, entertainment crew ,bartenders etc. The entertainment crew keeps activity going on all day their is no need to leave the property, unless you wanna visit dunn's river fall another wonderful […] place to visit for a day. we are defintely looking forward to another visit next year and with the family. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Although at one point my sinuses were set off as the person adjoining my room was smoking although the rooms are non smoking. In spite of that one incident I enjoyed my stay at the Gran Bahia.

ROOM The room itself was well furnished and looked after. We were both surprised by how large the room was and how large and modern the bathroom looked. The housekeeper was very friendly (we tipped every other day), but the floors were not mopped daily and a few days we didn't receive a water. As with all the other reviews, have more than one key as […] they seem to deactivate themselves and waiting in line to have a key re-coded is a waste of time (bring all keys when re-coding). FOOD One of the larger spreads I have seen at an all-inclusive, but the quality was hit and miss. Overall, most of the food was over-cooked and bland, so we stuck to the same few dishes, quickly burning out on the offering. The best bet for lunch is to head down to the beach for Jerk Chicken on lunch. Double check on opening/closing times for restaurants as those listed in the welcome packet were not correct. POOL/BEACH The resort is huge and has endless choices for tanning/swimming/drinking, etc. We loved walking down to the farthest end of the beach (by the nude beach) - it was close to the bar, relatively quiet and on a calm part of the reef. Highly recommend reserving snorkeling gear as the wildlife from the adjacent reef is plentiful and worth experiencing. STAFF Our experience with hotel personnel is all over the chart, from dismal to mediocre to five-star. However, there were enough friendly, engaging staff that made up for the negative experiences.
