Maze Backpackers - Haymarket

Die Mtiarbeiter im Hostel sind sehr nett und die Zimmer sind soweit auch okay. Die Bettwäsche schien sauber, wenn auch abgenutzt. Die Waschräume waren nicht immer geputzt, besonders die Böden in der Dusche waren oft gewöhnungsbedürftig. Alles in Allem kann man aber im Maze übernachten.

Insgesamt kann man sagen, dass das Hostel so in Ornung geht. Der Raum war kleiner als auf den Fotos gezeigt und leider auch nicht ganz so sauber. Für Toiletten und Küche gilt selbiges, beides wurde zwar geputzt, war jedoch schon etwas heruntergekommen und nicht mehr so schön anzusehen. Dafür muss man sagen, dass das Hostel sehr zentral gelegen war, […] man benötigt nur wenige Minuten bis zum Supermarkt und auch andere Geschäfte waren zu Fuß gut erreichbar. Mehr

Wenn man wenig Geld zur Verfügung hat, gröhlende alternative Leute in der Nacht auf dem Gang um Ruhe beten muss dann seit Ihr hier definitiv richtig! Dreckiger Boden, zerrissene Vorhänge, Fenster die nicht schließen ... Empfehlung nur wegen des Preises - nach 12 Stunden Stadttour reicht es zum "schlafen".

Das Hotel liegt sehr, sehr zentral.

Die Lage ist super. Für den Preis wird man nur sehr schwer etwas anderes bekommen. Ich habe in einem Einzelzimmer gwohnt welches ausreichend Platz hatte. Die Sauberkeit in dem Zimmer musste ich erstmal selbst herstellen ( auf dem kleinen Tisch war Orangensaft verschüttet und klebte schon richtig gut ) ist mir ein Rätsel wie man das übersehen kann. Die […] Matratze war sehr durchgelegen und sehr weich aber ging für die acht Tage. Die Duschen und die Toiletten werden jeden Morgen gereinigt sind aber kurz danach wieder total dreckig, wird halt von vielen Leuten benutzt. Auf jeden Fall Badelatschen oder Flip Flops mitnehmen ! Wer Party machen möchte und anderen Menschen kennenlernen will ist das Hostell optimal, wer die Stadt erkunden will und nur im Hostel schläft ist es auch gut. Wer den halben tag auf seinem Zimmer verbringen will - dann doch lieber in ein richtiges Hotel. Mehr

Das Hostel ist sehr groß, hat sehr viele Zimmer. Die Aufenthaltsräume sind ok, die Küche und die Bäde könnt sauberer sein. Trotz der Größe ein ruhiges Hostel. Kein Wohlfühlhostel, aber ein gutes Cityhostel.

Hab etwa eine Woche im Maze verbracht und eigentlich ist es gar nicht sooo schlecht! Bis auf das die Sauberkeit die nicht vorhanden ist.... Weder die Badezimmer noch das eigene Zimmer sind sauber! Die Materaze wenn man das Ding so nennen darf ist glaub ich noch ein Relickt aus dem 2 Weltkrieg, genau wie das Bett. Und das Personal...naja es lässt einen […] völlig in Ruhe... Damit mein ich leider dass es einen völlig ignoriert! Aber ansonsten ist es das günstigste Einbettzimmer das man in Sydney bekommen kann! Und das ist wirklich nicht einfach.... Mehr

the location is really great, I stayed there with a friend for 4 days, we basically walked to every site we planned to go. room price is reasonable, fit for the backpackers. if you're only looking for a place to sleep at night, this could be a nice choice,

Noisy all the time. I stayed in the two bed room with a friend. It was too small. Staff are ok.

Well, who could imagine that a backpackers hotel would have everything to offer, from single rooms to multi-occupancy dorms... you can choose and the price is right every time. The Maze is located on Pitt Street which is a 5 minute walk to the Central Train Station. The moment you leave the hotel you are in the sprawling city of Sydney... everything […] is a stones throw away, the Harbor is up the road, the town hall is nearby, the shopping districts are to your left and right... No need to go anywhere else. Shop, party, visit the local parks, and eat at the best venues without having to go very far. The Maze itself is amazing... friendly staff, clean rooms, good amenities, a kitchen, music, pool, free events... its all happening here. Its not just a place for the youg and hip, people of all ages and from all different walks of life come to stay at the Maze... i will definitely be returning on my next trip to Sydney!!!! I live in Sydney's outskirts (1.5hrs from the city), and whenever I work late and need a place to crash in the city, this is my default accomodation. I have been here numerous times, and it has a consistently good level of service. It has a good vibe, and is close to many good eateries within the neighbourhood. noisy and dirty

Internet is very decieving, this is a very run down, dirty, filthy joint. First reaction was: "This is unbelievable". Worn out, ripped carpets, no ventilation, filthy bathrooms, saw cockroaches everyday. Let alone the noise

Good Location, However the accommodation is dirty old and very noisy. Felt very dissatisfied with everything we received. Everything seemed to much trouble for the staff and there attitudes suggest that they were doing us a favor by allowing us to stay rather than us being the guests. truly awful experience.

Disgusting! Worst backpackers I've ever stayed in!

A pretty fun and lively place to stay, and a great location, but the bathrooms (showers especially) were not clean, and didn't seem to be being cleaned every day. There seemed to be no rules on alcohol, so there was lots of drinking and throughout the night, and incredible mess from young people who don't have any sense that there are other people using […] the same facilities they are using. The backpackers across the road was rowdy till 4.45am, and without some soundproofing, this became an issue for me! Mehr

Overall this place is worth recomending. There are two isues that annoyed me: Internet all the time connection problems Even when i had a single room stuff had acces to it and I found that someone was few times there during my absence without noticing me.

The hostel has a very good location with walking distance to everything in the city. Unfortunately out room was VERY small (could almost not even fit out bags) and the power point in the room only worked 2 of 7 days! It arranges many activities so you don't have to worry about being alone if you travel by yourself.

Not bad! u paid for what you get. 3 of us stayed in a triple private room. A convenient location, nice and helpful staff, good kitchen utilities with hot water supply (but pity the staffs who need to clean the place up if the guests didnt clean up what they have used) , good effort in organising many activities (although i dont have a chance to participate […] in any XP), has Tv room and games room and etc. However, this place can be quite noisy on friday night and weekend as people will be partying until late night or until morning! Nevertheless, if you are not those fuzzy type, I think this should be acceptable as people here has nothing better to do to release their stress except for drinking and partying. Besides, one thing i'm upset with is that Maze doesnt have free wifi =(. You have to pay to use it. But if i'm not mistaken, the cost isnt too high. Mehr

OK, it's a bit dirty, cause it's tidy up by the backpackers, so, sometimes it's not very clean. But I wanted a roof above my head, and a bed. I wanted to save money for other activities. This is what I've got. I would recommand this hostel to everyone despite the noisy drunk guys overthere, cause it's also part of the "hostel experience" !

Maze was my very first experience in a hostel, and i am writing this having now stayed in 2 other more expensive hostels, and quite honestly, other than a few more facilities there is no difference in quality. Maze staff were lovely, i go there at 6am, despite check in not being until 2pm they let me go take a shower and store my bag until check in. I […] was in my own room, which probably helped, but the main thing about maze is how much more social it was than anywhere ive been since. The common room is excellent and the kitchen is fine. It has loads of showers and toilets, so no waiting. The rooms are a bit basic (there are some plugs but if not the staff will charge anything for you for free). The social aspect of Maze is exactly the point of travelling, everyones social, and i made friends instantly, which i cant say about the other places ive since been. really basic facilities, but the staff and the social aspect is the best ive been in. This hotel seems very expensive until you see the other hotel prices, it is bare bones, no extras, The main advantage is that it is so close to everything, you can buy a day pass on the rail/bus/ferry and have a ball.

Ive stayed in numerous hostels around the world and this is probably the worst. Bathrooms appear as though it was last cleaned a year ago. Infested with cockroaches. Staff were too blase, and were either chatting up other backpackers as they served you or talking about getting wasted

Great location and service, organised social activities for backpackers in the same hostel were good fun. Comfort of room, however, left much to be desired. Overall cleanliness was passable.

A very reasonable backpacker accommodation if a little short on cutlery and crockery in the kitchen. Reasonably close to Darling Harbour & Circular Quay. Free shuttle and Railway Station nearby.

Understood this was not going to be the Hilton but this hostel was way below all expectations. To all who intend to stay here, there are NO power sockets in any of the rooms. To recharge or use anything electric you must either sit in the common rooms or give to reception to charge for you. The rooms are not clean, our bin was full from previous people, […] bits of rubbish under bed and could not use pillows as they were yellow from use! Kitchen and bathrooms not very clean either. This hostel is simply a get what you pay for it. The upkeep seems to be quite low (the power sockets in my room were not working but they did offered to move me), however as a hostel experience I have been in worse. The staff were friendly and professional. Room was adequate and the bathrooms cleaned regularly. I found it centural and close to shops, bars and food outlets. I enjoyed my stay and I would go back again. Thank you.

We could not be luckier to stay in this hotel. My daughter had the flu with very high fever upon arrival and "Roger" one of the hotel employees took us o the doctor right away. The rest of the days he showed us around and in the evening he sang and we drank Kava, a local drink....That makes you relax..lol

the table and the chair in the room was so dusty, I had to clean them before I use. I find there was so many rubbish under my bed. one of the staffs was not very nice, she was not very willing to answer my question. I choose Maze just because the location is good!

I had never been at a backpackers before, but if this is a sample of what I may expect, I will use them in the future. I had a single room; I may opt for roommates in the future to get a better feel for the experience. For the money it was definitely worth it. I stayed 4 additional days at what it had cost me one night previously. The kitchen was a […] little touch and go, I recommend a second look at cookware and cutlery. Mehr

Although the shared bathroom facilities were decent the sheets and blankets in the bedroom were filthy and smelling awful. I wouldn't stay there again even if i got paid to do so!

Both me and my friend; had a wonderful stay at Maze backpacker, It was really close to many locations to the CBD, Thanks.

Bed linen was clean which was the main thing, room very small. Vomit in inside of window but i could accept all that for the price we paid. What I could not accept was the state of the kitchen. There were 2 microwave ovens which did not work. The portable electric hobs were is such a sad state, they did not heat properly. For such a large hostel as […] the Maze is, they should upgrade the kitchen to acceptable standards, until they do this I will not recommend this hostel to anyone. Mehr

Handy locatation but a bit run down inside. The room smelt stale but everyone very friendly and easy to get around. It is very 24 hourish with noise of occupants but was handy for what i needed when I needed fast accomodation whilst at Darl;ing Harbour it is a quick walk!

I had the best time at Maze. They had a big party and everyone was really friendly even though I was travelling alone. Great staff! Found a heap of rubbish under my bed, incl a bowl with food with mould on it, which was grosse, but other than that it was fine for a hostel.

for me, when im trevel a lot , nice good night sleep is so important. if u need a private and still want burget treveling, this is perpect! most importantly, location is perpect to go every place in sydney! so i dont need to wasting my time! budget sleep and budget time! tidy nice quite lots of free events. what else u need for bacpackers? this is the […] best. Easy to walk to all place so convenience

The most positive thing about Maze is the location. It is just in the heart of Sydney and walkingdistances to almost all the attractions in the city. However the maintenance could be a lot better and for some reason the cleaningstafff starts vaccumcleaning the aile very early in the morning (5am). We have stayed here twice, and they did this both times […] - and therefore there will not be a third stay. Mehr
