Staff was very accomodating and helpful. A few things about the room were very annoying- no clock, not enough pillows, overhead light in bathroom didn't work, no washcloths in bathroom, there was a trick to turning on the TV which was not noted the room (click any number on the remote-clicking "on"button did not work), no guide to TV channels. Why was […] key card required in a slot by the door in order to get any electricity in the room?? Very strange. Mehr
"NEVER AGAIN!!!"
We stayed at this hotel because it was close to my boyfriends family.... BIG MISTAKE! The first room had a non functioning phone and they placed us in it with full knowledge that it didn't work. We missed wake-up calls, his family coming by, and even the desk clerk to tell us they had no wash clothes. Once we found out the problem was the phone they […] moved us... but they sent us to 3 different rooms, all with various problems, before we found one that was even passable. Oh and the breakfast wasn't served past 10am... what about those with jet lag.... and forget room service. The room was dusty and they clearly rarely clean the counters or table. We bought paper towels and cleaning spray at the nearby market. To add to all that, the tea kettle in the room was absolutely disgusting so making tea or the complimentary coffee that was in the room was out of the question. And 8 Euros for wifi.... REALLY!!! The hotel 3 blocks away was far superior (+ free WiFi) and we'll stay there from now on. We would have moved if I hadn't already paid for the week in full. Mehr

"Miles away"
Hello all The best bit about this hotel is the staff, true Irish hospitality! Thank you all! The food was poor standard and outside the hotel at night is scary. Also no service to airport and taxi was expensive to get to airport, I wish I had stayed at the North one, will not stay here again when in Ireland.
"Thank You!!!"
Everyone was nice and helpful. Our room was clean and the hotel is either new or renovated. In the morning of my flight, I apparently slept through all of my wakeup calls and my own alarm that was continuously going off. The lady from the front desk came up and knocked on the door, to which I replied "I'm sleeping".... little did I know my cab was due […] in 25 min and I had over slept by 2 hours. The lady had to come in the room and wake me up like my mom and THANK GOD she did. What a mess it would have been getting back to the states if it werent for her. Thank you to all the ladies at the front desk. You were all extremely kind and helpful. Word from experience: watch the cab drivers; I was charged 54 euro to go to Ballyconda (sp?) to visit my friend who lives there when shes only charged 20 euros. Not the hotels fault but it is a company they use... I would ask for a rate before the cab shows so you know if youre getting a good rate or not. The area isn't horrible... its clean and quiet but the people in the area seem definitely sketchy. There is a bus that goes directly into city center, costing 1.90 euro. Mehr
"Closest hotel to Dublin Airport."
The worst experience ever, the room didn't had the towels and the pillows didn't had the covers. I called twice to front desk to notified and I had to get down there to pick up the towels and we arrived at 1:00am. The room should be ready since check in time about 3:00pm. The neighboor didn't look safe and at 2:00am that was a lot of neighboors tallking […] loud and we can hear it in our room. Not a safety place at all. Mehr

"Take earplugs and a flashlight"
Recommend to others with strong caveats: Grim neighborhood, but good enough if you have just arrived or around departing the next day by air. (My two stays were because of it's convenience to the airport.) The rear-facing rooms back onto a courtyard surrounded by highrises. Guests were awoken at 3:00AM by an ultra-loud drunk singing Happy Birthday to […] You. Also, the rooms are bigger than the European average, but under-lit even when all bulbs are working. In my room they were not. Mehr
"Not at the airport!Deceptive, disappointing, DUMB!"
This hotel is NOT AT THE AIRPORT! There is no shuttle transportation provided, and you will have to pay for a taxi (about 12 Euro) to get to the hotel and again to get back to the airport. The neighborhood has nothing -- I took a 20 minute bus ride into the center of town for dinner. The bathroom has no plug for hair styling. THere's a shaver-only […] plug, but that's it. I thought there was no hair dryer. Only when I was about to leave did I discover the hair dryer permanently affixed inside a desk drawer! Yes, the desk has a mirror, so this is not the worst place for a hair dryer, but the light in the room is so bad! Hair dryer in the desk, extra towels on a shelf by the bed (also didn't discover these until after I requested an extra towel from reception -- and I had to go down and get the extra towel. No one was available to bring it to my room). I found the service adequate, nothing more. No free breakfast, Wi-Fi cost 5 Euro, Mehr
very pleased
"travelodge dublin airport south"
there was some noise on the street from people at night. windows were unable to block it out
"Travellodge Dublin Airport"
This hotel is only 2-3 miles from the airport. It is definitely a budget hotel. The neighborhood is not the best, but they have free secure underground parking and secure room access. The staff is friendly, but our room could have been a little cleaner. The carpet was all stained and we did not like walking on it without shoes. The room was quiet, but […] the only amenity you get is a bar of soap. For those on a budget, it is still a very good deal. I would probably stay there again if I found myself back in Ireland. It is convenient to Dublin, Trim, and other surrounding areas. Mehr
"Travelodge Dublin South"
Had a very pleasant stay, just for one night. Very cosy room and the staff were wonderful. Would definitely stay here again. And they had tv with the rugby playing!
"Travelodge Dublin Airport South"
The service was friendly, but the carpets on my floor were filthy. Throughout the night I could hear people outside making a lot of noise. I am glad I only had to stay one night.

"Do NOT STAY here"
Wow.... This was the worst hotel I've stayed out in a while. The phones did not work, the place was horrible to find, when promised that someone would come to our room to wake us up personally (so we wouldn't miss our flight), no one showed up, getting INTO the place was a maze. The bar next door was loud and obnoxious. The beds were uncomfortable. […] The internet that was supposed to be complimentary was only if you asked and then only for one hour. I could go on, but if you want to stay here, DON'T DO IT! If you have to because of cost (it's cheap enough), go in with the mindset "it's only for one night, it's only for one night". Mehr
"Good for a short stay!"
We were happy with this hotel which we booked only the day before. The hotel itself was fine - receptionists helpful. Clean room. Good parking (says secure, and it is in terms of having to be buzzed in, but I'm not sure what stops someone else walking in while the gates are closing once you've driven in..maybe security guards?!) What we weren't excited […] about though was the location!! What a dive!! Many of the surrounding buildings are boarded up, covered in graffiti, have smashed windows etc. We had a car so we didn't have to walk anywhere, and I would suggest that if you are an alone, young female that you wouldn't walk around here. While my husband was checking in I literally locked myself in the car as two men who were completely intoxicated, walked past and one fell down the gutter with legs in the air, not being able to get back up by himself! Interesting. I can't comment on location, but is seemingly close to the airport. I would recommend the hotel on its own merits, while disregarding the location. If you have a car and plan on driving everywhere then definitely a good place to stay! Mehr
"Travelodge Dublin Airport South"
priceworthy but no AC. Close to airport.
It was my 4th time staying here and no complaints, very handy, lovely staff, and have never had any trouble!
"Travelodge Dublin South--close to airport"
Provided a clean, comfortable place to sleep close to the airport for our early flight out which is all we wanted or expected for the price.
"Walking distance to DCU"
Suited me fine as I was attending a conference at DCU and could walk there every moring.
Excellent staff.
I really thought my stay was great the staff were very helpful and friendly one of the best stays I had in a hotel in a long time keep up the good work thank you
"Travelodge - Ballymun close to DCU"
This hotel is well located in the Ballymun area of Dublin (Northside) very close to DCU, Albert College Park, Omni shopping Centre, The Helix and The National botanic Gardens in Glasnevin. A 2 min walk from Tesco, Supervalue and Centra grocery stores, it makes up for the lack of restaurants or pubs in the area, without having to go into Dublin city […] centre, Well served by Dublin Bus, you can be in town in under 30 mins. The rooms are comfortable and fairly well serviced although beware of door handles and shower heads being broken before you arrive...I did report mine to reception but no action was taken. Overall staff are friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to others to stay here. Mehr
"Travelodge Dublin Airport South"
We stayed here simply to be close to the airport since we had an early flight leaving the next morning after driving back from Galway. I read some reviews that the area was sort of sketchy, but I can't really speak to that since we pretty much checked in and went to sleep. They have an underground carpark with elevator entrance to the lobby which was […] very convenient. The staff was courteous and the room was actually very spacious and clean. The price was great and the proximity to the airport was as advertised. All in all an enjoyable stay, for what it was, and nothing to write home about, but also nothing to complain about. Mehr
"Be careful!"
We decided to take a cab because we wanted to make sure we got to the right hotel. We gave the cab driver our printout because there is more than one Travelodge in the area. He then took us to a Travelodge. Not knowing any different, we paid the cab and went in only to find out our prepaid reservation was at a different hotel. The lady, Florence was […] very helpful. They have a phone, direct to a cab, so we attempted to call a cab and go to the right hotel. After a couple more calls to the cab, getting yelled at by the cab company, and waiting 30 minutes, they decided to just honor our reservation at that location. This seems to be a common problem because as we were waiting, 4 more people came in with the same problem. Overall, as far as this particular hotel, I couldn't say for certain, but the Travelodge at Swords was very helpful and met our need. So if you stay at any Travelodge in the area, you'll want to make sure you are able to get to the right one. Mehr

"Travel Lodge, Dublin Airport South / Ballymun"
We found the room a bit chilly and no heating came on during our two night stay (January). The neighbourhood is under major development and had a few shady characters about. However, there is a secure underground car park. It has been renamed Dublin Airport South but is some distance away from the Airport.
"Travelodge Dublin Airport South -not near airport!"
had to book here after dublin airport was shut and our flight cancelled during winter snow. booked hotel in a rush on internet at airport thinking it was close to the airport - ITS NOT!!! about 3-4 miles by car. As for the hotel i guess it's what you'd expect from a travel lodge with the very basics catered for but nothing else. Ballymun was pretty […] barren. if you need somewhere to lay your head for a night closeish to the airport for a reasonable price then i guess it's fine. As a final point, the ladies on the check-in desk were very welcoming, kind and helpful. Mehr
"Travelodge Dublin - Exactly what I was after"
The hotel was basic but the price was great, the service was super, and it was exactly what I was after after being delayed for a day. I would fully reccommend it for a no frills hotel for staying over after a late arrival or needing to be at the ariport very early. It is located in Ballymun which is about a 10 minute Taxi ride away (You may need to […] tell the taxi driver this as it is not really right at the airport). The room was very clean and basic, and the hotel was bright and cheerful. The irish breakfast the next morning was huge and very nice and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The area is not the best, so I wouldn't reccomend walking around there at night, but the hotel is safe and secure and most people should have no reason to go exploring. Mehr

"NOT AN AIRPORT HOTEL"
Honestly, the Travelodge Dublin Airport Ballymun was a very nice hotel for the money. Very clean with friendly service. And that's why I gave it 2 stars instead of just one. The fact that I had to pay $20 to get from the airport and then another $20 back to the airport the next day trumps everything for me for a hotel with "Dublin Airport" in the name. […] Maybe I am mistaken but to me that implies there should either be a shuttle service or at the least some kind of cheap public bus service to and from the airport. There was not. Also, Ballymun was an absolute dump. They did at least have a grocery store nearby since the hotel food was awful. The food from the counter at the grocery (SuperValu I believe was the name) was actually very good and was the highlight of my stay. Mehr
"good value"
take a bus to the city center and your car for a quick rode to the airport
"airport hotel"
The hotel was simple. The doors to the rooms were heavy and slammed behind you, so all night long you hear doors slamming. We simply wanted a hotel near the airport so that we could catch our early morning flight, and that is exactly what we got. Walls were thin and we could hear extra vigirous activities next door.

"Travelodge, Ballymun"
The hotel is easily accessible from the City by bus, being just across the road from Ballymun Shopping Centre. If goin to the Airport, you have to catch 2 buses, (allow up to an hour). The hotel is a new development, it is much better fitted than nearby hotels but it has no shuttle bus for the Airport, if needed. The Foyer restaurant serves a rather […] basic but cheap evening meal and breakfast, which is useful as the surrounding area is not renowned for 'eateries!' There is a walk-through to a bar, which adjoins the hotel. The room I stayed in was a corner room, and was huge! Most rooms available are 'standard Travelodge' The hotel does everything a Travelodge should and is usefully located both for car travel out of Dublin, and bus travel into the Centre. Mehr

"Travelodge Dublin Ballymun"
The hotel is definitely up to its three star rating. We chose this hotel, as we were visiting relations of ours at the south side of Dublin and because getting to the south side was convenient (less than an hour using Bus 4a, which stops directly outside the hotel). The hotel, built in 2006, is very clean. It has recently undergone renovation and refurbishment, […] after changing ownership (Ballymun Plaza to Travelodge Ballymun). As would be expected, there is maid service 7 days a week - the tea and coffee supplies are replenished, as well as the room being given a general tidy-up. The staff are all really friendly. They have lots of knowledge about the area and getting to and fro Dublin and the surrounding areas - all you need to do is ask! In regards to mealtimes, there is only one restaurant/café - Metzo - which serves breakfast and dinner. The menu is somewhat Mexican based, with many spicy dishes, such as a range of spicy soups and hot burgers, but there are one or two traditional Irish meals included, such as Irish stew. The only downside about this hotel is its location. If you are intending to stay here just because of its proximity to the airport, then this is not much of an issue (apart from the fact that the cost of a one-way taxi to or from the airport is over €20 - this is only a 5 km journey). A word of warning - ensure that you tell the taxi driver NOT to go via the 'ring road', as this is more than one and a half times the distance. Remember to ask for a receipt, too. Public transport to the airport is a nightmare. It takes in excess of an hour and a half to go by public transport for the 5 km journey! You need to take one of the busses outside the hotel to Upper O'Connell Street, cross the road, then take bus 747 to the airport. If you are going here to spend time in Dublin city itself, expect journey times to there from the hotel to be about half an hour - even more at peak times. To travel to the south side of Dublin, expect bus times to be abou Mehr
