Großartig
"Ein einfach perfekter Urlaub"Bewertet von Holger & Anne L aus "Meckesheim" am 14. Apr. 2012
"Hotel liegt zentral in Kahului.

"around average hotel in nice neighborhood!"
You should not expect much from it, but for the price that you are paying, this is a good deal. The room was kind of old and not decorated or ... but when in Hawaii, you are not supposed to stay in the room for the whole day! So as a place to sleep for a cheap price, it is a good option. However, for couples who want to go there for honey moon, the […] room is not fancy enough! Mehr

"Aging Tower of Nice Resort"
I chose this hotel because it was the cheapest within walking distance of a conference I was attending (at the Westin Maui). The resort that this hotel belongs to is fantastic, clean, well serviced with friendly staff, and up to date; however, this hotel tower within the resort is old and shows it. I didn't mind that much (other than price because I'm […] a student), but heads up that you may feel like the luxury car repair place loaned you the old farm beater pickup. Or like you're staying in some neglected wing of a mansion. The main resort definitely does not treat you differently than if you were in the glitzier section, which is great. Just remember that your room is a 1-2 star place. Cons: The bed is hard, the pillows rough, no fitted sheets, and the maid was stingy with replenishing the tea in the room. b.n. After checking out they offered us a courtesy room (to shower and change after swimming) inside the main tower and it appeared worth its rate. Pros: the area is quiet compared to near Whaler's Village (about a 20+ minute walk), they upgraded us to an ocean view, and it was a fantastic view, felt like we were sleeping on the beach, and, yeah, it's cheaper than its neighbors. no wifi is the only problem for me
"Great location and service"
This hotel is a bit dated and the bed was pretty horrific. The rest of the hotel (Royal Lahaina) was great, the entire property was amazing, the beach was outstanding. If you aren't planning on spending all your time in your room, this place is a great value.
"Very nice for price"
Not the newest place but very nice and in a great location to resorts, pools and beach.
"maui kaanapoli ocean inn..great location"
First arrived stayed at the westin for week... Awesome place .. Then extended stay at kaanapoli ocean inn... When i arrived they upgraded me to ocean front free. The room was 1620 3rd floor.... Look out balcony to ocean beach.... Look to the right and your literally over looking the laua.. Which you get front room view from your own balcony.. bonus.... […] The room nothing special but served the purpose.. room was clean didn't smell maids cleaned everyday. ... Older amenities in room but not in maui to sit in a room... Its literally right on the beach.. If your looking for awesome resort with all the bells and whistles.. This wont be for you... You are allowed to use royal lahinas pool and amenities.. Which is a plus... Plus also I needed to stay one extra night and they made every effort to make sure I stayed on the same room.. Resort is close to everything... So for a place to save money and enjoy the beautiful island of maui.... Yes all day long.... Mehr
"Nice location, but run down accommodations"
The staff were courteous and extremely helpful. The location was perfect. For the money it worked, but only barely since we were in the room for only sleep hours. We suggest spending a bit more if hotel room upkeep is important to you.
"One night in Maui"
We stayed at this hotel for just one night before heading to Molokai. It's an old hotel that has a lot of charm. The rooms are quite dated and in need of some repair, but they were clean and comfortable. The location is beautiful, lots of place to take a nice walk. The customer service is a bit over the top. We were greeted upon driving in by the Valets […] who rapidly escort you to the check in. Hawaii is supposed to be relaxing and layed-back, but it was a whirlwind check-in. I think they were really trying to be accomodating but it was too rushed. After the check in we were taken by golf cart and escorted to our room, a very nice service. Mehr
"Kaanapali Ocean Inn"
The price is right but the hotel is quite dated, old furniture, old television etc. Beds were quite hard and pillows flat. Faucets in the bathroom were old and hard to turn. Toilet continued to run unless handle jiggled. Fortunately we spent very little time in the room so most of this made little difference.
"Location Great, Room not-so-much"
The room was standard, older with thin walls but the location was great, right on the beach and able to use the facilities next door at the Royal Lahaina Resort . The price for the room was about at least $100 a night less than rooms in the area, so if you are just sleeping there and don't care about the extras this is the place!
This place is pretty nasty and smelled like an old cabin, but for te price it is right on the nice beach, pay the extra to stay at the actual Royal Lahaina.
"say no to the 3 stort building"
Very old ans outdated. A/ C barely functional. Room was musty. Location to beach was very good
"Okay for cheaper price. Ocean View nice"
I stayed here because the room had an ocean view and the price was $35 cheaper/night than surrounding hotels. The bathroom shower floor tiles looked old, worn down, and slightly brown so I wore my sandals when showering. The panels on the ceiling of the bathroom were disheveled, perhaps they had been doing some work and did not put the panels back. […] Otherwise, the ocean view was nice and the location was a short drive to Lahaina. The bed sheets were clean. Mehr
"Kaanapali Ocean Inn..steps to the sea"
We thought this was a great location and it was so lovely to hear the crashing waves and have a board walk and beach- all so easy and everything close by.
"Not the Room"
Upon arriving at the Royal Lahiana Resort, (where the Kaanapali Ocean Inn is located) we were told that they were going to upgrade us to a different room. (So, we never did get to see those accommodations.) That was fine with us except the room that they gave us was directly over the driveway, we had to look over the roof to see the ocean and the noise […] was more than I cared for. However the hotel itself was really nice, provided towels for the pool or beach and everyone was very pleasant. Now, taking all of that in consideration, NO ONE told us anything about what was happening, any activities provided or even about the luau that was on site. We only discovered after two days that there was a customer relations office that told us everything that we wanted to know. The beach was beautiful, two pools on the property. Bed was a bit too soft for me and the room was newly renovated. Not what I expected, but overall a good hotel. Mehr

"Ocean View"
The Royal Lahaina's kaanapali Ocean View rooms are definitely in need of an full update. The full ocean view rooms at the west end of the building are the closest to kaanapali Beach of any hotel and provide amazing views, which is the big trade off for staying in a fairly run down room. We stayed in a west end full ocean view room Jan 26 to Feb 6, 2012 […] and really enjoyed watching the whales breaching offshore from the balcony. Mehr
It is what is says it is. A two star hotel with ugly carpet and furniture, stiff beds, outdated tv etc. But it's located in an expensive area among luxury hotels in Kaanapali beach Maui. Great location if you want to be in that area but too expensive for a two star in my opinion.
"2-star hotel w/the amenities of a 4-star"
KOI is adjacent to and owned by Royal Lahaina. So all the amenities of Royal Lahaina (ocean-side bar, uncrowded beach, restaurants, beautiful Kaanapali area) are available to you if you stay at the much lower-priced KOI. The rooms are decent, just a place to sleep or RNR from too much sight-seeing and beach-going. The service staff is friendly and the […] location is convenient, just 10 minutes away from Lahaina town. I would definitely stay at KOI again. Mehr
"Great place and a great value"
Sure, this hotel is old and pretty basic, as most other reviewers have indicated, but it was perfectly fine for our needs. We were out snorkeling and exploring Maui most of the time anyway. The room was clean and spacious, and we got the upgrade to an ocean-front room (we asked after reading what others had written), so it was great. We also loved being […] able to enjoy the amenities of the Royal Lahaina Resort - happy hour mai tais at the Barefoot Bar are the best! I chose West Maui having never been to Maui, but after seeing much of the island on this trip, it is definitely our favorite - more low key and relaxed than South Maui, and gorgeous with a lot of great beaches to choose from. This place is a great value. Mehr
"Outdated and Dirty"
Drywall was falling apart in the bathroom, and there was maybe 10 different applications of caulking in the bathroom. Very outdated. Somewhat comfortable though, and good location.
"Don't believe the pictures"
Just came home from this trip. This pictures are a gross misrepresentation of the property. It appears that they are no longer maintaining the building itself. Perhaps it will be remodeled? Several rooms have their sliding glass doors papered over. Major gaps in the railings on the deck. Carpets are old, beds are uncomfortable and old. Wallpaper is […] curling off the wall in places. Repair work to walls and ceilings was done very unprofessionally - like a quick patch up. The location near the beach is FANTASTIC though and the snorkeling to the left at Black Rock is amazing. Just know going in, this is not a nice place. We felt a little unsafe at night with so few rooms rented and at the end of a street. Mehr

"Kaanapali Ocean Inn - Lovely, Cheap Option in Maui"
I was on an organised tour and needed to arrange an extra night's accommodation close to where I was staying (in a 4-star hotel). My tour director recommended Kaanipali Ocean Inn for price and proximity to our tour hotel. I made a booking online through hotels.com. It was very reasonably priced. I caught the free trolley to Kaanipali Ocean Inn quite […] late in the evening. They offered to upgrade me to a private bungalow. It is on a HUGE property so I was a bit worried I wouldn't know where to go, but they offered very clear directions, as well as the services of a motorised cart. The hotel feels far away from Whalers Village and downtown, but it is very beautiful. The staff were courteous to me (although I did hear other patrons having issues with the term "waterfront" or "waterview" on their own bookings). In the morning, there was a beautiful water dispenser in the reception area with slices of fresh pineapple in it. Yum! I have nothing but good comments about my stay here, even if it was for just one night. It was my final night in Hawaii, and if I ever went back, I would definitely consider staying there again. Mehr
"Nice hotel"
This was a nice hotel and easy to access. The pool was ok, but the beach was great. The food was exceptional at the breakfast buffet and the service was really nice.
"Hotel within a hotel"
This is really part of the Royal Lahaina Resort - don't look for signs to the Kaanapali Ocean Inn because they don't exist. We were put up in one of the garden cottages, which were pleasant but a bit dated. We had a shared lanai which was pleasant but more like a public back yard than a private area. Service was great, as we were taken by golf cart […] to our door. The restaurant and bar have a very nice ocean view, and the setting is beautiful, with easy access to both beach and pool. We were there for only one night, between two longer term rentals, but it was a pleasant place to be for that time.. Mehr
"Awesome despite dated rooms"
I was tentative about booking after reading some of the reviews about old rooms and bugs etc. The room was old but we're not primadonnas and let's face it if you book a cheap room don't expect 4 seasons room quality. The room condition was akin to an old best western on a less travelled highway. Stand up shower stalls and flat worn out pillows. All […] of that matters not when you take into account the location sitting literally on one of the most beautiful beaches in Hawaii within walking distance to great shopping food and beach activities. They even have their own luau that butts up to this hotel that is voted the best luau value on the island. We didn't go ourselves since we could hear and almost see it from our balcony (lanai). Some have complained about the noise but it's done by 8:30 so unless you have small children who need to sleep or you're really into watching tv at night on vacation then no problem. We were upgraded to an ocean view room so that really made all of the difference, we probably would drop our rating a half star otherwise. We were on the second floor and from our balcony we were literally 40 yards/ meters at most to the breaking surf of the ocean. The sister property has all of the good amenities you need pool, bar, restaurant, etc. and it is an extremely short walk to enjoy any of it. When you read sister property don't think far away at all. this was our first visit to Hawaii and we did a little of everything, 4 nights in kanaapali at this hotel, 3 nights camping in Hana Ohio gulch and Haleakala crater (aloha campers for vw camper van) and 3 nights in kihei. If we could do it over the only change might be to spend those last three nights back at this hotel. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone as long as they aren't obsessed with having luxury accommodations. For reference I regularly stay in hotels for work and have experienced the finest hotels in the world as well as the worst. Hope his helps you and have a great trip! Oh one Mehr
"Cheap but dont stay here"
We stayed 2 nights when we stayed here after we checked out of out condo, we stayed here becasue of the price but i would not stay here again. its not nice at all.
"Great location & price, so-so quality & cleanlines"
As long as you are not too fancy pansy - hoity toity THIS is your best value and location in the area !!! Maybe even in all of Maui. You share the amenities and services with the great Royal Lahiana, but the quality and sometimes cleanliness of your room(s) is definitely compromised. But the price is absolutely right due to reasons mentioned...
"good price for great location"
located right on the beach, the Kaanapali Ocean Inn is a great location with a friendly welcoming staff. It is a family friendly destination the whole family will enjoy. She is an old girl so she does have a couple of minor blemishes but the location and staff make up for any minor imperfections. The hotel also hosts the longest running luau on the […] island of Maui. My wife and I loved it! We would recommend it and would go back again. Mehr
"low rent rendezvous in the middle of high rent"
spider mites all over bath vanity, not well maintained, great location
"Royal Lahaina Resort"
We were able to upgrade to the newly renovated building. Very nice. AC coolers were broken and room wasn't 100% comfortable; a fan was brought up to our room. Eventually, the AC was working and all was well. Not crazy about the beds...no box spring...I think the mattresses were down, but just not for me. Overall, very nice! I have no idea what our original […] accommodations in the unrenovated building would have been. Mehr
"Ka'anapali Ocean Inn - amazing customer service"
The people on Maui are all very wonderful, and more so in this hotel - everyone was very friendly and helpful. The highlight was the guest services office where a woman was making leis - she gave me one from her fridge, and showed me how to make one for my daughter. A "wow" experience, for sure! The luau at the Royal Lahaina (same complex, attended […] last year) was great fun, too. The hotel room itself was nice, with a view and the sound of the ocean outside my balcony. I did wake up with a stuffy nose, though, even without A/C on, and there were tiny ants in the bathroom, but both things were harmless. With a car (which I didn't have this time) or without (they offer shuttles to main shopping areas nearby, and a bus ride is only $2 to ride anywhere all day), this is a great place to stay. Mehr
"Great Value!"
The room was clean and the ocean view was amazing! The staff was very friendly and the hotel had great amenities.
"Great Experience"
It should be noted that I was trying to get by with spending as little as possible on my trip. We originally booked a room in the Ocean Inn, but upon arrival we were upgraded to the cottages. Later in our visit we also stayed in South Maui. Compared to our stay in South Maui, we loved this hotel. Close to the beach, better weather, and lots to do in […] the area. Mehr
"Nice hotel, a little dated"
Beach was great, rest/lounge was nice, good food. A little noisey with luau and halloween parties going on but we were extra tired in the evening so it probably was just us. Room was dated, windows had shutters but were basically open to noise. Patio door was difficult to open and close and we had to move our bedlamp outside on the deck to have light […] for supper on the deck. Other than that the grounds were nice and staff was friendly. Mehr
"kaanapali ocean inn its only 1 star, for us"
My wife and me were there only one night, thanks god, waiting the morning to run out and far from the hotel. Its very, very dirty, dead and alive roachs, cannot seat on the multi-stains sofas. The shower and the water closet didnt work properly. They dont have enough parking lots for all the guests, but they charged you for the parking! No free internet […] access. Very small TV. The only nice thing: the neighborhood, better to spent the night outthere. This is hardly a 1 star hotel: very very old, totally abandoned, and untidy building. All the carpets are a disgrace. You have to go there just to believe all this. I will not go back even if they offer the same room for free. Mehr
"Good Value"
This hotel is a good value - the cheap rooms are sure "dated," to include an old CRT television! The location is superb - close to what you want to see and do in Lahaina and surrounding area. The downside is that they charge you $10 per day to park your own car - I would hate to guess what the valet parking costs! The beach is very nice, just north […] of Black Rock, where snorkeling is astonishingly good. If you're looking for top quality rooms, this ain't the place, unless you stay in the new tower in a more (much more) expensive room. I would come back to this hotel. Mehr
Hotel receptionist she hardly could understand me, the hotel itself looked old but ok. Inside our hotel the wall paper in the room was peeling the bathroom door didn't shut well it kinda hung like a swinging door n when the wind blew in the door would swing open while your in it. The beds were hard and the pillows flat. We booked for a king bed and […] when we got into our room there were two queens. Front desk said that hotel only has a couple of rooms with kings in it. Our balcony was grungy looking cigarette butts all in the floor rain gutter and very flimsy railings, I thought at one point I cracked the balcony rail. DANGEROUS. it's to bad when u book online it really looks pleasing. Lucky for my wife and I, we live in Hawaii but for the people coming from somewhere in the mainland to vacation in paradise "HAWAII" to book online and plan this wonderful vacation room that they see online and put down all this money to get this grungy room. For $15 more a day we could've gotten a nice condo in Kihei. That's all I've got to say. GOOD LUCK!!!! the people at the guard shack were VERY KIND & PROFESSIONAL, very welcoming. Mehr
"Upgrade"
We were upgraded to a cottage instead of the Kaanapali Ocean Inn. The cottage was fantastic! The resort had nice pools and was in a great location. We used a hospitality room which was in the Kaanapali Ocean Inn; it was a very standard room. It was clean and nice, just an older room. The only thing we didn't like about the whole property was the $10 […] a day parking fee. Mehr

"Kaanapali ocean inn"
Very much appreciated that they upgraded my room to a cabin. Was not crazy about the $10 a day parking charge.
"Excellent"
This hotel complex has the perfect location, walking distance to Black Rock, perfect for snorkling.

"Great Stay"
I have to qualify this with the fact that they had run out of rooms with two beds in the Ocean Inn so the front desk staff upgraded me to a king bed, two bath suite with a kitchenette. Our stay was great, the only complaint we had was the challange finding parking in the evenings because the facility has a luau every evening. Try the happy hour pork […] sliders at the pool - for 2 bucks each they were a favorite of everyone in our room. Mehr
