Great location! The room was phenomenal. The restaurant and the club were really fun. Then we found this great cafe for breakfast that was within walking distance. The check in/out process was as smooth as it could go. I would definitely recommend this hotel to stay at again.

This was our second stay at Andaz and it was just as unique and pleasant as our first. The staff, all of them, are friendly and helpfull from the time you arrive untill the time you check out. The staff is also very knowledgable about the surrounding area so if its a special dinning experiance or points of interest, they will steer you in the direction […] you wish to go. The hotel itself is in a great location and if a party atmosphere is your liking then a short walk will put you there. We found some quiet places with great ambiance tucked in between as well. Wonderful customer service and amenities. There are complementary sodas, juice and your very own Keurig to make hot tea and coffee. Hotel guests get VIP bracelets for the nightclub and rooftop patio, both of which are very nice.

We loved the hotel and happy hour. Great service.

I have stayed at some of the finest hotels in he world...and the Andaz Hotel San Diego is right up there with the best of the best. Excellent service from when I made the reservation right up until check-out. The staff is attentive, friendly and seem to really enjoy what they are doing. The Andaz is in a perfect location to take advantage of all the fun of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The rooftop bar has an amazing view and comfortable seating, the drinks are a bit expensive but worth it during sunset. Free WiFi and all the goodies in the mini bar let you enjoy your stay without feeling like you are […] getting nickel and dimed. There are plenty of parking alternatives within a block if you don't want to pay the fees for parking at the hotel. We will definitely be back! Mehr

The sink was gross due to the engineering problem on the pipe. The room is much smaller than it appeals on the picture. However, everything else is good, especially the location and service!

Overall, loved the hotel. The free snacks and beverages in the room were a great touch. I received a $75 hotel credit when booking which I used for cocktails and room service. I enjoyed the rooftop bar for evening drinks. I stay at 5 star properties often and would rank this hotel high for its amenities and service (especially for a 4 star hotel). I […] felt the valet parking was about $10 too high and I think a mattress topper option would be nice for guests that prefer a softer bed (like the Heathman Hotel does). LOVED this hotel. However, upon checking in I was not made aware that there is a night club on the roof above the sixth floor. And the sixth floor is where my room was. So come Thursday night - the music was so loud in my room that I couldn't fall asleep until 2am which is when the club closed. When I called down to the front desk to inquire about the […] noise they simply said, "Oh, you should have been informed upon check-in." When I said that I was not, they simply offered to bring me a night cap and ear plugs. Really? If you are going to have a night club on your roof - figure out how it will NOT effect all of the guests staying on the sixth floor! Mehr

This is a great hotel. Service was excellent and the room exceptional. The freebies were appreciated. The rate i received was a great deal and i will stay again if ibcan get a rate within shooting distance of what i was offered on this stay.

Awesome!

Nothing to complain about it. Everything was perfect and I can't wait to go back!

Nice hotel. Reception staff are fantastic.

Spent two nights at the Andaz San Diego and had a wonderful time. Great check in experience (including complimentary cokes, water or coffee) led to enjoying the art in the lobby and the chic feel of the place. Room was plenty roomy, except someone forgot to include dressers in the room! I was forced to live out of my suitcase, which was kind of a bummer. […] The bathroom was sweet, a highlight except that the stainless steel sink drained a bit too slowly and left behind a soap-scum residue. The in-room Keurig coffee machine was a nice touch. I enjoyed the free Toblerone chocolate in the room! Nice upscale shampoo and soaps. Outside the room, the roof top bar and restaurant were fantastic. Wow. I enjoyed the bar staff...very fun and helpful. I got great service from the restaurant staff and the huevos rancheros were awesome. Near the rooftop bar is a good work out room that has three treadmills, a couple of ellipticals , a stationary bike and some weights...too bad the view wasn't directed at the rooftop bar area! Overall I wold recommend the hotel. It is in a super convenient location only a block or so from all the restaurants and bars in the Gaslamp District. Mehr

I have stayed at the Andaz when it was the Ivy and the biggest improvement that I have seen is the customer service. As you walk in, they treat you like gold. Ensuring that you are checked in quickly and even offer you a wide variety of complementary beverages. The rooms are very clean and romantic. I wasn't aware when I made my reservation that the Andaz turns into a nightclub on weekend nights. The music made it hard to sleep and even worse were the party guests that stayed over slamming their room doors and making a lot of noise until 2:30 a.m. This was annoying since I had a very early departure the next morning.

Best hotel that I have stayed in a long time...nice, extra large rooms. Front desk personnel went above and beyond to provide superior service. Restaurant service not quite up to the hotel standard.

We stayed here for 4 nights and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The location is great we didn't need the car once, well except when we drove to Coronado Island. It's clean, contemporary feel spreads throughout, from the bedrooms, to the bars and the roof top pool. I would say this is more appropriate to younger travelers as the hotel has a nightclub […] and quite a rowdy crowd turn up on Thursdays, Friday's & Saturdays for The Ivy rooftop party. as long as you dont mind there not being a bathroom door and a clear shower its a great place to stay, with complimentary items such as coffee, tea, soda and water. I had a great stay, the bed was a little more firm than I'm used to but overall it was a great stay

My fiance and I absolutely loved this hotel. The rooftop pool and bar is really cool. The room was very nice and the bed was extremely comfortable. Overall a great hotel to stay at. It's also in an incredible location. So close to a ton of bars and restaurants in the Gaslamp district. Everything is in walking distance. We would stay here again!

This is a very trendy hotel; you check in with staff walking around the lobby with Ipads. The room we stayed in had glass walls around the shower, which was next to the bed. OK for us (we've been together for years, so no big deal) but it would be uncomfortable for a new couple. The mini bar was the best one I have ever seen, and had complimentary sodas, […] teas, and candy. The cushy leather window seats made for great people watching without having to take off the warm, fuzzy robes. The wine bar was great, had excellent selections and friendly staff. The roof top pool was nice and had a great view of the city. There was a roof top party one of the nights we stayed, and we had VIP access because we were hotel guests. It was a great trendy, kinda snooty (but in the right way), boutique hotel. Would definitely stay again. Mehr

I had the misfortune of staying at the Andaz during the recent San Diego blackout. It felt more like being held captive or imprisoned. They had a great opportunity to impress their guests with compassion and kindness however they completely missed the mark. They overcharged for both food and beverage and closed most of the hotel off to registered guests. […] I walked down to the Marriot Gaslamp where I was welcomed in off the street to a free dinner and beverage. It was more like the party atmosphere I was expecting at my own hotel. When I checked out in the morning, there was no mention of the event or an attempt to make up for any inconvenience. It could have been handled differently however the management failed to live up to the challenge. Mehr

I've been staying in San Diego since 1999 (I live in LA) for weekend trips. I've seen Gaslamp change to what it is today, it was not always bustling. Recently, I found the US Grant was the best hotel in Gaslamp, which it still is one of the best, hands down; however, for a younger person Andaz is like a hip version of the grant. They are both excellent, […] but being in my twenties, I prefer the nightlife aspect of the Andaz, without compromising on Luxury or service. we were at the andaz for our 2nd anniversary entire staff was friendly . hwevr jack our valet and vlad our personal concierge made our stay were exceptionally special. we missd our cruise jack stayd w/us at the harbor until we were confrmd for the nxt cruise and pickd us up. vlad md me feel like he was there just for me very on task took care of dinner […] & cruise reservations. our room was xtrmly small i wsntd 2 leave aftr walkn in i did love the decor roof top pool and bar but vlad & jack are the reason we wll return. oh yes loves the complimentary car service Mehr

I love the Andaz brand concept and everything is spot on except for: 1. Upon check-in the concierge announced my room number and being a solo woman traveler this is a huge of security for me 2. I expected cool hip and a scene, and the Andaz definitely delivered on that. What I didn't expect was the great service-- the staff all were super service oriented. It was a great stay. The rooms were modern but very comfortable and well thought out. This hotel is beautiful and happening. The service was exceptional.

Nice Boutique hotel in the gas lamp. Completely renovated. Very Very Contemporary styling.Staff exceptional. Roof Bar Sweet. Hotel is for adults though. Not that great for kids. The don't nickle and dime you either. I was very happy with this hotel.

My Husband and I went to San Diego for my 40th B-day. We stayed 3 nights. The Hotel was wonderful. The service was incredible and the room was beautiful. I am very picky about hotels and this one was very very clean and the decor was very modern. The waters and juices, and sodas were all complimentary. I would recommend this place. I stayed at the Andaz last week and truly enjoyed my experience. The glass of wine at check in, modern room, and beautiful pool all made for a wonderful vacation. The staff was a bit stand-offish. I inquired about directions to another hotel, but when they didn't have exact directions they vaguely pointed in the direction. Not ideal. Otherwise, the […] staff was quite nice and helpful. The hotel rooms were small, but modern. All in all, a nice hotel stay. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Mehr

Nice hotel, with a nice location and updated amenities. However, they seem to have a nightclub scene on the weekends that can be VERY loudly heard in the rooms. Music, voices, etc. It was like being in the club. Good place to go I guess if you are going to be out, but if you want to get sleep, not so much.
