We only stayed one night but we had a great time. We arrived early and we able to get into our room which really makes a difference on a one night stay. The beach bar was fun and reasonably priced. The big firepit was nice. We would stay again!

The hotel was relatively easy to find. We passed by it once because we missed the sign. I also think Garmin misdirected us. Unfortunately, their restaurant was closed so we had to walk to the downtown area to find one. Not a real problem, though, because we found a good restaurant downtown with excellent sea food. The only problem we encountered with […] our room is that one of the table lamps was defective with loose wiring and the management changed it at my request. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay even though it was for only one night. Mehr

We loved out stay! We were there at the end of September and the town was uncrowded. We loved the location. We loved the beach service. We loved the fire pit in the evening. The beds were super comfy and we had a great stay!

My husband and I wanted to have a quick little weekend get-away for our 1st Anniversary, and had gone to Cape May for a mini-honeymoon a year ago and loved it! The Beach Shack was definitely about 10 steps up from other beach motels I had stayed at in the past! The staff was very friendly, the hotel was clean and comfortable. Not knowing what to expect […] for the room (which was right by the pool, though due to colder weather we weren't able to use it) we were very pleasantly surprised. You walk in to a little living room area with a sectional couch, flat-screen TV, microwave, mini refrigerator, sink etc - then through the door to the bedroom itself which was sizable and had a decent bathroom. My biggest complaint is probably the shower's water pressure, but having vacationed throughout the Jersey Shore my entire life, that isn't an isolated complaint to this hotel. Last but not least, right across the parking lot (free parking at the Jersey Shore? ALWAYS a plus!) is The Rusty Nail; a great laid-back restaurant with delicious food and friendly service! We ate both dinner the night of our stay, and breakfast the morning after there, sitting outside with a view of the beach and the beautiful ocean breeze! I was sad we only had the one night, we would definitely stay there again! Mehr

The Beach Shack was a great motel, right on Ocean Avenue (across from the beach) with clean rooms and comfortable beds. They even provided lounge chairs, towels and umbrellas on the beach - really nice touch! The motel is adjacent to The Rusty Nail, a lively, open restaurant & beach bar filled with families, singles and live music. No worries though […] - the music stopped in plenty of time to sleep well plus, I couldn't even hear it once my door was closed. I would argue that if anyone did not rate this hotel high, their expectations around staying in a Jersey shore town are unrealistic. Mehr

I love the fact that the hotel/motel has a restaurant right next door that will serve you by the pool or on the Ocean!!! Loved it!

Loved it! You never know what you're gonna get at the Jersey shore. This one checked all of our boxes. Friendly courteous staff in every area from check in to check out. Poolside towel covered chairs freshly changed after each guest and best of all walk accross the street to the beach, show the attendant your room key, pick your spot and a chair, umbrella […] and towels are set up for you. Ask for a menu and get drinks and food brought right to your chair.Location wonderfully close to all that you need. Walk to everything. Will stay there again and again!!!! Mehr

It was a short but very pleasant stay. The staff was extremely friendly as supported by other expedia user feedback. great spot! everyone was friendly. place was bright and nice. the beach service was nice and appreciated. the only ting that got me was we grabbed breakfast at the rusty nail the next morning and the service was soooooooooooooooooooooooo slow. kinda dissappointing for the off season. otherwise everything else was great.

My husband and I stayed for two nights and had a very relaxing time. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach (right across the street). It was nice to have the bar/restraunt on site. There was live entertinment each evening in the outside bar until 9:00 and we enjoyed sitting outside our room on the balcony listening to the great music.

Booked this hotel for a wedding we were attending in Cape May. The good: excellent location, right across the from the beach and just down the street from the local sights such as restaurants, recreational activities, and pedestrian mall. The bad: The room, while visibly clean, was musty and drove our allergies crazy. The room was an efficiency unit […] with a living room, small galley kitchenette and separate bedroom, however, the only air conditioner was an old wall mounted unit in the bedroom. As such, the air in the room generally had a clammy humid feel. Our room also lacked some basics, as there was no room phone. You are definitely paying for the location with this place, the but I'm not sure you want to stay here for more than a night. Mehr

we went for a long weekend from saturday afternoon till monday afternoon. we arrived around 6 pm. checked in, we were ground level right by the pool. (not huge, but it did the job) thought we were getting two queen beds, but got a bed and a pull-out couch. sister slept on it and was quite comfy on it. We had requested a move to ocean view the following […] day but changed our minds sfter not wanting to move further away from the pool. Rusty nail had great food and delivered drinks to your room, the beach and the pool. NJ law will not allow achohol on the beach, but the life guards turned their heads to it if you add your own as long as you cleaned up your own mess. The beaches were clean and because they are pay beaches, they were not crowded and no undesirables. also the water was so much closer than it is in like wildwood. (a mile away) After staying the 2 days we decided to stay for two more days. we will be going back again next year, we will definitly be staying at the beach shack again Mehr

This was our first time at the Beach Shack and overall, we had a great experience. We have been to Cape May many times before, but this was our first stay here. The convenience of the location was superb, the beach service a welcome first for us and the staff was exceptional. The Rusty Nail added a great beach vibe with their outdoor bar, firepit and […] wonderful live music. My only dilemma was with the room. It was recently renovated, clean and the bed was quite comfortable, but I l felt as if the renovation was only half way completed. The bathroom could use a full update as could some of the furniture. Also we had 4 people and only one bed, so it was a bit cramped. If you have more than 3 people staying in a room, you may want to opt for 2 beds because the pull out isnt very comfortable (they never are!) The room could use a little updating and the bathroom was a bit small. We had some minor issues with the room, but the hotel staff came right out and resolved everything. Hotel beds and bath were clean, but facility is weathered as built ins are all splintered and crooked. They have updated the comforts tho and beds were new and great! Love white linen and duvets...fresh and CLEAN! NO PHONES> Not a problem for us with only one room and cell phones, but interesting to know. also Cape MAy charges to go on the beach... […] only 5 but good to know in advance. It keeps the beaches clean and free of riff raff people. Overall it was the perfect spot for us. Love the fire pit and live music in the evenings. Mehr

After reading a review of the Beach Shack in my favorite -- and trusted -- regional magazine, I was excited to learn that I could stay there at an affordable price through Hotels.com. I am always amazed at the magic of photography -- in person, it was not nearly as swanky as it appeared in photographs. That said, the room was comfortable -- my friend […] and I really enjoyed the plush bedding, and slept well. It was great to have a balcony right outside our door where we could leave sand-filled shoes and such, and a refrigerator in the room. The not-so-great: the bathroom basin had slow-moving water; the toilet was not firmly bolted to the floor, and the water pressure in the shower was poor. A well-functioning bathroom is ESSENTIAL on vacation -- especially with multiple costume changes taking place! Also, the microwave oven in the room didn't work -- as I discovered at 2:am when I attempted to reheat my leftovers from dinner (and, yes, I checked to see if it was plugged in). The highlights of the stay were the hotel's close proximity to the beach, their chair/towel/umbrella/food service at the beach, and the pristine swimming pool on the premises -- also with towel and food service -- and lots of chairs for lounging. I also loved the indoor/outdoor restaurant (the Rusty Nail) which had a lovely fire pit with plenty of comfortable seating (however, I could have enjoyed this amenity without staying at the hotel!) All-in-all, my stay was pleasant, but I would have been VERY upset if I had've paid the hotel's regular room rate -- twice what I paid. Mehr

The hotel was very nice right across from the beach with free beach chairs, towels and umbrellas for guest use which is a great asset and a lot less to pack for the ride. They were kind enough to let us keep our car parked in the lot on check-out day while we were at the beach! It's special touches like that that make me want to return to a hotel. There […] was coffee, lotion, shampoo, etc. in the room as well as a sink outside the bathroom. It was close to the "mall", a brick walkway with various shoppes...the popular place in the evening. Good location - relaxing atmosphere - good music. Rusty Nail definately a positive attribute to your stay. Air conditioner had trouble keeping up with hot days and nights - take a fan. Beach service at ocean superb for what you are paying.

We booked the Beach Shack for a weekend at the beach in late June. The location, service, and amenities were truely ideal for a beach getaway. It certainly lived up to our expectations. With Beach service that included towels, umbrella's, and chairs to the very cool Rusty Nail outdoor bar/restaurant. It was easy to stop by for a drink and some food […] before, during, and after the beach or just grabbing breakfast. We never got in the car once we arrived since we were walking distance to some good restaurants and shopping. The rooms had a sofa for hanging out and a huge counter with sink, fridge and very fresh and updated. Try a dinner at Martini Beach up the street for some outstanding food and views. Don't be fooled by the 2 star rating. It's only that way because its a smaller hotel but it has plenty to offer with the pool and Rusty Nail right on site. Mehr

The Beach Shack was a great place to stay. It's right across the street from the beach, all rooms have ocean views, the rooms have top quality bedding, service on the beach for umbrellas and chairs and towls was top notch. And it has the added benefit of the Rusty Nail restaurant and outdoor bar right in the middle of it. We enjoyed the fire pit in […] the evening and the live music. Our room was sort of on the roof of the restaurant and that was disconcerting at first, but we got used to it. It actually gave us more privacy and a sort of balcony to ourselves. There are no elevators so be prepared to lug your stuff up 2 or 3 flights of stairs (for us, it was 2 plus another small set of stairs up to the roof to our room). The shower in our room was a problem in that it went from hot to cold at odd times. We also had a small leak in the air conditioning. When we reported it, no one came. We thought that was odd. It didn't interfere with us in any way as the air still worked. We just thought they would come quickly to fix it. Overall, we loved the Beach Shack and would stay there again. Cape May is beautiful and this hotel provides a great beach experience. Mehr

The Beach Shack was absolutely wonderful from the moment we checked in until we left. The rooms and service was excellent. It was a plus to have the chair/umbrella/towel service provided for us at the beach. A definite plus there ! The adjoining restaurant/bar, The Rusty Nail, was fantastic. Location is very good. Just across from sea free parking. Friendly staffs. There is a out door dinning area if your room is not with the main office it could be very noisy with Music, (Live). I had a simple but annoying problem in my room, bath tub were not draining properly.

My wife, myself and my 3 year daughter said here for two nights. This was the perfect hotel for us. The ocean was right across the street, the pool looked pretty nice and the restraunt right below was perfect with the hugh outdoor firepit and great food. When we visit cape may agian we will stay at the beach shack.
