Tipp: das Hotel als Tourist am besten nicht verlasssen, wir haben es auch nur als kurzen Stop vor unserem Langstreckenflug genutzt! Nette Angestellt, aber Sauberkeit der Zimmer grauenhaft! ...wir haben mit Flipflops geduscht! Bitte auch nicht von den tollen Bildern der Lobby täuschen lassen!

Dieses Hotel war das beste von allen Hotels, die ich bei meinen zahlreichen Aufenthalten in Santo Domingo kennengelernt habe! Die Zimmer sind gut und leise(!) klimatisiert, sauber. Warmwasser funktioniert gut, alles war sehr sauber - das Hotelpersonal war ausgesprochen freundlich und hilfsbereit! Die Preise, auch für z.B. Essen auf dem Zimmer, waren […] günstig. Lediglich das Frühstücksbuffet könnte etwas reichhaltiger sein, dafür ist die Dachterrasse wunderschön. Ich werde dieses Hotel wieder buchen, es ist sehr empfehlenswert!!! Mehr

The hotel was very basic (we didn't have e.g. hot water...), but the location was perfect. Just outside the hotel starts the Zona Colonial, and the breakfast buffet was organized on a terrace with a nice view. The rooms were very simple, but had at least air conditioning. The hotel looked different from the way it looks on the website. The hotel did not have any microwave, iron, and ironing board inside the room. In front of the hotel was dirty. The shower tub was not too clean. Some of the title in the room were cracked which made the room look dirty.

The hotel is situated close to the old town, which is it´s biggest asset. The rooms are somewhat worn down and windows without any sound-isolation making impossible to sleep in the rooms facing the street. That leaves you with the internal rooms that have no windows. We also had some unpleasant experiences with the staff as a couple of them were rude. […] Also they take an extremely obscene rate when exchanging money - use one of the casa de cambio instead of getting ripped of at your own hotel. Three blocks from center of Zona Colonial and places to see. Two blocks from string of nice places to eat. Good breakfast. You can hear the street noise. Clean rooms and working a/c.

I thought this place was great. I have stayed at other places in the Colonial Zone, and I thought this one was as good or almost as good, just a lower price. Breakfast on the roof is really nice, and the lobby/ bar are as nice as anywhere else in SDQ. Rooms could use some updating, though for my money, I would rather save my pesos and spend it on something […] else. Parking was really our only issue, though it was also an issue when I stayed at a more expensive hotel in the Zona. I will be staying here next time I am in the DR. Mehr

When I arrived the staff was super nice and effecient at getting me checked in and in my room. They were helpful with information and directions about the area. I love the lobby of this hotel and in the evening it is a great place to hang out and have a beverage. Rooms are small but comfortable. Wi-fi works great. This hotel was good for the price it is about on par with the rest of the boutique hotels in the area. Breakfast and wi-fi are included so that's a plus. If you are a serious meat eater then the breakfast won't do for you but it is not bad. The location is kinda sketchy but that is anywhere in Santo Domingo -- since its a pretty poor country. They do […] make extra sure that once you get to the doors that you are safe. There is a constant monitor day/night to make sure the criminals stay out. Roof top is OK if you want a late night drink. I did like this hotel --- i may have opted to spend about 5 more dollars and stay at the Mercure though since it is on the main Colonial zone drag but if you get a good rate this one will do also. Hotel was in good location, reasonably priced, and most attractions were within walking distance.

Rooms at street can be pretty loud, if it's silence you're looking for you should tell the staff to get a rear side room.

Location was great, room was very basic. Don't expect the Holiday Inn, or Motel 6.

Stayed for two nights staggered over two consecutive weekends: the first night there were a bunch of young noisy Europeans roaming the hotel hallways late into the night, and the second night I had a room overlooking the very loud Arzobispo Merino street. Both rooms I stayed in had amateurish drywall repairs done to the ceilings - you could see whole […] sheets of drywall that were obviously installed recently. Be warned: there is essentially no soundproofing for these rooms. A light breakfast is served (toast, fruit, eggs) upstairs on the roof balcony. This place has reasonable rates, but it has the feel of an upscale hostel rather than a hotel... you get what you pay for. Mehr

Look, if you don't want to spend much money and you want a chance to immerse yourself in the culture of the Dominican Republic this is a great place to stay. The breakfast is good, the people are wonderful! The location is perfect.

Location: You can't do better than this. It's right in the middle of the Colonial Zone, and it's literally a 5 mins walk to all the major sights and museums. It's 5 mins walk from the The Parque Colon, Alcazar de Colon and the Cathedral, Naval Museum of the Atarazanas, Museum of the Casas Reales, Panteon Nacional, where the national heroes are burried, […] located in the Calle Las Damas (which is also 5 mins away). It's also about 6 mins away from Calle del Conde, and RIGHT next to the Ruinas de San Francisco. Price: It's really reasonable for it's location. Breakfast: The complimentary breakfast is standard, but they make good fried eggs and they supply fresh fruit and juices, coffee, tea, toast, etc. Room Service: I ordered room service, which was okay, but it wasn't exactly cheap. You would spend less if you ate at any of the cafes nearby. Cleanliness: The hotel is really clean, the rooms on the other hand don't look as posh as the lobby, but they are clean. I got a room with a balcony, Room 309, and it was fantastic. The view looked out to the street, and it was great to see daily life in Santo Domingo. But the room doesn't look at chi chi as the lobby, so lower your expectations. But it really doesn't look bad. Do NOT leave food out in your room, it will get swarmed by ants. I left out some chicken, and kinda learnt the hard way. Request for a fridge, if you need to store food. Staff: There are very friendly, they can speak English, and they helped me arrange for taxis back and forth, and they were always happy to answer my questions, help me out with my Spanish, and recommend stuff. Wifi: There's wifi! Overall: This hotel is great for the price! I would stay here again if I was in Santo Domingo!! Mehr

Great hotel for the price. The location is great. They have nice breakfast. The rooms are a little small but the most important is that they are clean.

This hotel is greatly located in the middle of the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo; very close to stores, bars, restaurants and the colonial edifications. The serivce is good, not great, and has a good quality breakfast. We had a small problem at around 1:00 p.m. when we were trying to get some rest, but the cleaning lady made a lot of noises in the […] next room and did not let us sleep. Mehr

Professional staff who were very courteous and helpful. Good breakfast. A bit noisy at night but that is normal in the Dom. Rep. If you like it more on the quiet side, ask for an interior room without balcony.

Only stayed for one night passing through Santo Domingo. Our room looked nothing like the pictures - it was a bit run down and had no windows. Otherwise location was great and had breakfast included, which was nice, and staff was friendly.

The lady in the reception lied and told me that there wasn´t any buses to the airport....maybe bacause she hoped that I would order a taxi from the hotel -which I think is a bit rude as I am a backpacker and want to keep my expences at a minimum. The breakfast was okay and the location couldn´t be much better.

I felt cheated the picture before I reserved is totaly different than what I got upon arrival at te hotel.

My husband and I we were in Europa Hotel many times... We had a really good experience there,, the most important for us is the fact that everything is so close to the hotel,,, you can go to visit the catholic churchs... all the monuments,,, to know about the dominican history,,, supermarkets, stores, wonderfull restaurants....

good value hotel, yet the room is rather small and noisy at night, nevertheless, it's a nice hotel for what you pay

Our ministry stayed at the hotel as a base for ministry. Our purpose is to rescue girls from prostitution. I could not be more impressed with the staff at Europa who joined our cause and went above and beyond to direct us to the right locations and even helped us work with a girl who we rescued who was only 16. I would highly reccommend this hotel to […] other ministries looking for a base in Santo Domingo..we held prayer meetings in the lobby with no problem and as I said the staff engaged in our mission and became part of the team. Well located in Zona Colonial. Standard rooms are small but fine for a short stay. Wi-Fi in room was excellent. Breakfast is included. Our main complain is the lack of a small fridge or mini-bar in the room. Staff at reception was very nice and polite. One thing to keep in mind, the hotel address on this site (or as provided by the hotel is incorrect). […] Don't pay attention to the 109 number, go to the 400 numbered block. The 109 is an old address before renumbering and the hotel never changed it nor they know what the exact number is. It took us over 30 minutes of driving around to find it. Parking free on the street. Note that the price paid to hotels.com includes the 26% tax. Your receipt will mention that it may not include all taxes, but it does. Mehr

This hotel is not luxurious, but it is not suppose to because it is more of an "old world charm" type of hotel, which was nice for a change. My room was comfortable, clean, the television service was great, and the breakfast was decent. I love how the hotel lobby is filled with blue and aqua lights with the nice music playing at night...reminds me of […] Miami. The only complaint that I have is the surrounding neighborhood. This hotel was in our price range and we got what we paid for. The advantages of this hotel are: *Friendly and helpful staff *Walking distance to Restaurants/Old Town/monuments etc *Hotel can help arrange taxis that they "trust" Disadvantage: *Like others have said on this review, the hotel rooms facing the street are very noisy until early hours of […] the morning...the dominicans tend to BLAST their music extremely loud from subwoofers in their taxis etc and they sing and dance and yell etc and it became quite annoying (Friday/Sat/Sunday nights). What I will tell you now does NOT relate to the hotel and is just an additional tip for anyone taking a tour in the city.. If you are going to take a tour make sure you tell them or ask for a start and finish time and a final cost... we were told a horse and cart ride was 25 dollars and it would take one hour.. we arranged it for the next morning. By the time we got back to the city it was 3.5hrs long and we had no watches but knew it was taking excessively long and mentioned that we want to go home.. but he had taken us SO far away from the city.. then he told us 90 dollars and we had a huge fight over the money and refused to pay him and we got a policemen to help us... then a lot of bystanders came to our rescue as well and told the guy to go away.. we ended up giving him 30dollars to get rid of him but he completley scammed us (not really in the end cos he didnt get his money) but just be careful and be firm with the price you agree on... oh and you can always BARGAIN there... tell them YOUR price... they try to trick by giving an astronomically high price and then saying they give you a special discount.. have fun, its a beautiful old city Mehr

Friendly and helpful staff. Convenient fast (free) internet computer. Very nice rooftop breakfast area. Well-located in the zona colonial. Comfortable room. However, if you happen to have a room facing the corner, it is VERY loud. Honking, partying, car alarms throughout the night. Also, this hotel seems to be popular with loud American youth whose […] noises carry into your room when they return late at night. I stayed at another hotel in the colonial zone that was much quieter, but if that doesn't bother you or you can get an interior-facing room, this is a nice place. Mehr

The hotel is what i expected. The staff was very kind. I paid for superior room, but when i got there i had a small room. They imediately corrected the problem. I enjoyed my stay, and plan to stay there again soon.

Europa Hotel Boutique is an excellent hotel to stay in the old Santo Domingo. Great attention!!

This is a tired hotel. The lobby looks great - breakfast is on the 4th floor and is mediocre but the hotel is reasonable on the 4th floor. Thats where it ends. The beds, windows, doors and floors were great in 1972. Now however - it is really bad. The upgraded room was as bad as the normal room and the bathtub was so stained and dirty it would have […] been impossible to use. Parking is non existent and you are relegated to parking on the street if you can find a spot. Not a place I would stay in again and in all actuality we are not a really picky couple. Europa Hotel is not worth the money you pay for it and is not recommended as a destination hotel in Santo Domingo. Mehr

I wanted to choose a simple hotel with an apartment like feel, one that catered to tourists and was close to the historic district while fitting within my budget and this hotel met my expectations. I would stay there again if the occasion called for it.
