The Stowe Inn - Stowe

Wir waren auf der Durchreise von Boston nach Montreal für eine Nacht im Stowe Inn. Das Hotel: der Gebäudekomplex mit Rezeption, Frühstücksraum, etc. ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet, die Mitarbeiter hilfsbereit, freundlich - top! Das Frühstück selbst ist typisch amerikanisch. W-Lan im Hauptgebäude vorhanden. Das Zimmer: Unser Zimmer war in einem separaten […] Gebäudekomplex gelegen und schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Der Komplex erinnert an eine Reihe von kleinen Bungalows, jedes Zimmer hat eine eigene Tür ins Freie. Unsere Zimmertür war leider schon leicht verzogen und nur schwer zu öffnen und zu schließen. Durch die nicht passende Türe hatten Stechmücken und Co. es ziemlich leicht, ins Zimmer zu gelangen und uns die Nacht zu vermiesen. Die Zimmer waren mit recht altem Teppichboden ausgelegt und rochen entsprechend muffig (zum Glück hatten wir unsere Hotelschlappen dabei!), Waschbecken, Toilette und Dusche waren sehr sauber, aber ebenfalls alt. Das angepriesene "free Wi-Fi" reichte leider nicht bis in unser Zimmer. Negativ: wir sollten unsere Kreditkartendaten noch einmal als Sicherheit angeben - mit dem Ergebnis, dass prompt ein zweites Mal der Zimmerpreis (wurde davor schon per Expedia bezahlt) von unserem Konto abgebucht wurde. Der Ort: Stowe ist ein unglaublich reizender kleiner Ort, die Ben&Jerry's Factory liegt in unmittelbarer Nähe (--> Factory Tour ist zu empfehlen!), typisch amerikanischer kleiner Ort, idyllisch gelegen, erinnert ein wenig an eine Filmkulisse. We stayed at the Stowe Inn for one night on May 19, 2013. We took the Standard Queen Main Inn Room expecting the luxurious wooden bed frame, modern room colors. Instead, we had a bed with no frame, in a small white room. I only noticed after that the picture for the luxury suite is used also for the standard room. None the less, except for the noisy […] AC (we turned it off and opened the window instead, it's a quiet town anyway), the staff was very helpful, the room was clean and the bed was ok. I would go again for the good price and the location of the inn which is at walking distance of the main street (with all the good restaurants and beautiful old buildings). About Stowe in general, we were planing on going to Burlington for 2 days, but we stayed in Stowe because every hotels were full near Burlington or too expensive. To our great surprise, after an afternoon in Burlington (we are not too interested in shopping..) we felt there was nothing else to do there and went to our inn in Stowe. We then discovered Stowe in all its beauty and enjoyed our next day and a half there and I would go back again if I could. Mehr

The front desk staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming.The room itself left a lot to be desired. It was dark, smelly, musty and not totally clean. Felt like a run down ski lodge. It was expensive considering the room. The location, however, was great.

The hotel was perfect. The staff went over the top to accommodate us. It was walking distance to town / bars / restaurants and shopping. Skiing was only a 12 min ride. I would personally like to thank Chef Shawn and the two managers Jessia and Yvette they made the entire stay enjoyable. We will be going back 2 more times this year.

We stayed in one of their lowest-cost (but still $139) rooms in the "motel" building (not the main inn) right across the parking lot. While it was clean, it was quite old, including the furniture. The arm chair was so well-worn that we were afraid to sit on it and the sofa-bed wasn't far behind. The electric base-board heater units looked like they […] were ready to fall off the wall and the towel rack actually did. There were all kinds of strange noises at night that woke us up several times - sounded like old heating equipment. Let's be honest, we booked the lowest level room. No one told us about WIFI connectivity nor breakfast time on arrival. Documents in room were so incomplete that we had to call reception to get the info. Room was disappointing. Very old cheap TV, no coffee... no WIFI in room, only in main building despite the fact the the add leads to believe that there […] is WIFI in all rooms. I paid almost half the price in Montreal and Toronto fir at least an at Par offer. Would not go back. Mehr

A nice, traditional lodge, mostly for the ski crowd, or any Stowe visitor, very conveniently located. I can't say enough about the staff. They were extremely helpful. The food was good as well, though they don't serve breakfast during the week. I definitely recommend this lodge.

The inn is an old building so obviously the individual rooms are older with some modern redecorating/renovations. The main issue I had was the mold in the bathroom. The mold and mildew was obvious and started at the ceiling and was spreading down the wall. It was dark in color. The shower curtain also had mildew on the bottom and needed to be replaced. […] I wouldn't have noticed that if I hadn't bent down to get the shampoo! Room and location are great - as well as price. Only issue was rate said included breakfast yet were charged $5 per person by hotel for the continental breakfast which had a VERY limited selection of food and issues with both waffle maker and toaster. Hotel also did not even offer breakfast on one day as too few people at hotel.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a great time. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the dinner we had was delicious. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed in the actual main inn part, so I'm not sure what the carriage house looked like. The only small complaint would be the gravel driveway because […] it did rain and snow while we were there causing our shoes to get muddy but we did notice a lot of other places had gravel driveways as well. My stay was just what I wanted it to be: a peaceful 2-day visit to Stowe to take in the beauty of the area, then relax in a clean, comfortable room. The staff, particularly Maryanne, was cheerful, friendly, helpful and went that extra measure to make me feel welcome at the Stowe Inn. My go-to place in this part of Vermont!

This hotel is simple but clean. The reception staff are very friendly. They served breakfast from 8 am which is quite late considering they weren't quite ready so we have to wait for another 20 mins, but they have good waffle! Overall, it's okay and will come back to stay again.

We had a great time. The food in the restaurant attached was kind of eh, though the decor is rather beautiful. We did have some trouble accessing the wifi, but then again, we weren't interested in Facebook while we were there, so it wasn't a big deal. Might be to someone more technologically obsessed. (By "trouble", I mean it was just a weak signal.) […] We stayed in the King size suite, and it was perfect for us. A great place to crash after a busy day of seeing the sights. The service from the front desk was great...they were tremendously polite and helpful. We have stayed here before and the main hotel is lovely. We had only two things that could have been better. First the Bed in room 204 sagged in the middl, and needed some center supports and they stopped having hard boiled eggs for breakfast. But all in all we had a great time. We would definately return to the Stowe Inn. The girl said that they would […] fix the bed and hopefully the hard boilded eggs would return to the free breakfast menu. Very good polite and helpful staff close to main part of town easy access and excellent restaurant on premise would like to see owner spend some money on updating the building inside needs to improve windows and doors into modern age no security otherwise vintage and rustic is nice to look at and sleep in but in this time reassurance is important

We were overall happy with our stay...room was clean, inn was very charming. Within walking distance to the downtown village area. Our only disappointment was that the gas was not hooked up to our fireplace, so no fire. The fireplace was one of the main reasons I booked this, so that was a bummer. The room was not clean, with trash under the bed and very dusty blinds. There was no bedspread just an uncovered duvet that did not even cover the sides of the bed and old pillows. There was no elevator nor anyone to help with lugging 2 heavy bags up to the second floor room. The bathroom was gross. All in all, we did not stay in the room even though […] we lost the money we paid for 2 nights. We went to another hotel in Stowe which was overpriced but at least it was clean. This is a great Historic Inn that was named the Yodeler Inn with smaller building across the street named the Echo, during the 1960-1970s skiing hey-day. The current Stowe Inn building holds architectural features and much of the charm of that era -- including expansive windows, piano, and welcoming fireplace at one of the open common gathering areas, […] with historic wooden bar area and glass-walled restaurant overlooking the village and river below. The detached Country Lodge portion of the Stowe Inn complex offers economical rooms that are perfect for the budget minded or those saving toward those ski lift-tickets. The staff consists of helpful, friendly, and accommodating Vermonters who remember you during return visits. Breakfasts are bountiful with choices of fruits, pastries, yogurts, cereals, and fresh custom (blueberries, strawberries, etc.) waffles and optional ($5 for eggs benedict, etc.) more substantial egg, bacon, and sausage breakfasts from the menu. Ask Norman, an attentive and good humored weekend staff member, about the bacon sausage. The new chef has put the dinner menu and River House Restaurant back on the Stowe map. The room was ok. The window only had one shade on it. had 2 windows. Could not lock one of the windows. Room itself was clean & neat. In town could walk to were you wanted to do. Needs to be updated. Windows the first thing to be done & shades for all the window also.

The carriage house rooms are animal friendly, but the dog in the next room barked through the night and early in the morning. The room was never cleaned and we had no toliet paper and not even a spare roll. When checking out and sharing my concerns the man at the desk didn't really even care.

The hotel and staff could not have been more pleasant. The hotel restaurant had a delightful view of town & the river and the meal was excellent. Booking with hotel.com was a breeze and saved us a considerable amount of money. Stowe VT area is gorgeous and the town is full of neat shops & history. We stayed in the Annex. Heat was uncontrollable (there was a thermostat) had to sleep with all of the windows open. Rug was so filthy our towels turned red form the dirt on our feet. The first day the housekeepers didn't clean our room! (No adjustment). We stayed 3 nights. That's enough.

We visited Stowe during the busy fall foliage season, and found a fair price for 2 midweek nights at the Stowe Inn. The room was clean and in good repair, save for a nightshade that couldn't roll up, but that didn't bother us. The area near our room was quiet and dark enough at night, so we slept well. The continental breakfast suited our needs for […] a light start to the day, but could have been made into a feast if you wanted it, since it had quite a large selection of food. I stayed in one of the lodge rooms which were separate from the actual Inn. It was raining when I got there and the parking lot is not paved. There were very few parking places in the area of my room so I had to walk through a muddy parking lot to get to my room. The main Inn is very quaint and in an excellent location in Stowe though. Inn has a very nice restaurant with an interesting menu. Food was well presented and reasonably priced. The room we stayed in was fine, clean and quite spacious. Public areas in the main Inn were rather scruffy and in need of a general tidy. Overall very satisfied.

You get what you pay for. We booked a room at I assume was the height of fall tourism season so I guess the rate was a steal for a room with an ensuite bathroom. Room had that musty smell, bathroom was clean but bath linens and bed linens had stains.
