Desert Arroyo - Phoenix

Die Hotelanlage ist sehr gepflegt, wenn auch tatsächlich vom Desert umgeben. Die Zimmer sind sehr gut ausgestattet und sauber. Guter Ausgangspunkt für Touren in den Süden von Phoenix. Nur wenige Zimmer verfügen über WiFi, so dass das Internet am Empfang in einem anderen Gebäude genutzt werden muss. Bis auf diese kleine Einschränkung ist alles ok.

Awesome place to stay very clean nice big rooms felt like I was at home away from home. Only downfall was that bed was hard but I would stay again its a great get away! Was worth every penny

Not satisfied. The room was not cleaned well and very noisy. The bedspread had a whole big enough to fit your head through it., the tables were dusty and had rings on them and the carpet was filthy. There were two air conditioner units attached to the exterior bedroom wall that roared all day and night. It was impossible to sleep with the constant noise. […] And the air conditioner in the room was so loud you had to turn up the TV very loudly to drown out the noise. When I called the front desk to complain about the noise, the girl told me all of the rooms have the same noise and asked me if I had a pair of earplugs that I could use. I told her no I don't usually carry earplugs when I go on vacation.Unfortunately, I had already prepaid so I was not in a position to chk out and go elsewhere. To make matters worse, they put the neighbor from (you know where) upstairs over me and every night these inconsiderate people came in late, sat out on the patio talking, laughing and cussing loudly until 4:30 in the morning and there was no one at the hotel to contact to inform of the disturbance after 8pm. When I went to chk out I could not find one of the two keys I had been given at chk in. These are the same keys that you can get remade at the local hardware store but they told me if I didn't turn it in at chk out they would charge me a lot of money to replace it. Loved the resort,my only compaint are the floors and carpets in our unit were very worn and dirty,I cleaned up some water from the ice dispenser that had fallen on the floor and the cloth was filthy,other than that the resort was great.

I've stayed there in the past with no problem but this stay had several. The carpet was so filthy that when our 8 month old grandson crawled across the floor his hands and knees turned black. There was a dead scorpion in the dated kitchen light fixture and the sheets didn't fit the bed. We requested the carpets be shampooed and they did.

We have stayed in places all over the world, and this was by far one of the worst. It looked like a condo conversion that no one really cared about. The cabinets were old, a leg fell off the coffee table when we tried to move it, the bathroom #2 tub was black on the bottom; it was certainly not worth what we paid.

Love the view

We chose the Desert Arroyo because we wanted a two bedroom unit. The price was reasonable, the unit was clean, roomy and comfortable. The best feature was the location - we were able to walk out our front door in the morning and go for a desert hike. Two down sides. First is that the WiFi is only available in the office (and sometimes by the pool) and […] it is slow, but the availability of a computer and printer in the office helps. The other problem is that if you are leaving or returning to the resort during rush hour, the traffic is horrendous. Mehr

Great location in the desert, near the city, perfect for 3 couples who want to hang out and cook their own meals. Having said that, the maintenance was shoddy. A light fixture was hanging from the ceiling by wires and the maintenance guy they sent to fix it said that's how some of them were. The garage door didn't stay closed, altho they did fix that. […] The place is starting to show wear. The shower in one bathroom had a leak at the point where the head met the pipe, and the water shot against the wall. Two of the dining room chairs were broken and we almost had an accident because of it. The hot water was set so high that anyone with small children would be at risk. Mehr

The brochure listed housekeeping as a service BUT when we returned to the room late the 2nd night the room hadn't been cleaned. When asked the next day we were told the brochure was outdated! Be prepared to make your own bed and bring toilet paper, towels and soap. The room was very nice and this our only complaint. The Desert Arroyo was a very nice place. It was clean and the staff were very helpful. It sets in a lovely desert setting with the mountains directly behind the hotel. The pool and hot tub were both clean and close to all rooms. If in Phoenix again I would stay here again.

I booked a one bedroom condo, which was less than area hotel rooms, but was surprised to get a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo with full kitchen, living room, dining room, and garage! It's adjance to Southern Mountain Park as well and had incredible scenery.

The photos taken by the hotel hide the fact that this place is a cheap, dirty hotel, masquerading as an extended stay hotel. My room was dirty with mouse feces in the corners of the room and a smell throughout of cat urine. The sofa had clouds of dust come from it as I sat down in it and there were rust stains in all bathtubs. The telephones did not […] work (no dial tone) and the hotel does not offer internet access on the rooms, only available in the primary office. It should be a crime for this extended stay to use the word resort in their title. Mehr

We enjoyed our recent stay at Desert Arroyo. My husband and I traveled with our 2 year old daughter and the unit was very comfortable. There is nothing fancy about the unit itself. It has a good floor plan, spaciousness, kitchen with open floor plan to living room. We liked the covered garage and easy access to the unit. Our daughter loved the swimming […] pool and the complex was clean and the nearby mountains were beautiful. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. We were able to find the hotel easily with our GPS system. We liked how it was tucked away and private. The units are more like townhomes and the surrounding complex is quiet. The only downsides were that the king bed was a bit lumpy on one side and the water heater appears old -- hence hot water running out after a 15 minute shower. A nice location just off of Baseline set against the foot hils. Quiet. Birds in the morning and a few hikers. My room was a bit tired with dirty carpet, scratches and scraps on the wall and doors. Bed was clean and comfortable. Room was large and open with a porch looking out on the foot hills. Magnificent, quiet location. I saw in the reviews that this place is out of the way. But really, it isn't. Its a 10 minute (at most) drive from the airport, with a lot of yummy restaurants around. It is tucked away at the end of a business park, but it backs right to a park with trails for hiking and beautiful views. It is quiet and peaceful! We had all sorts of rabbits and birds […] right outside our sliding glass window. We had a full kitchen, one bedroom with a living room, dining room and a balcony! Plus a single car garage that went right into our room! This isn't a regular hotel room, it is a condo! All that for less than what a regular hotel would have cost us? YES PLEASE! The staff is friendly and helpful, the pool area is nice, clean, and quiet. No matter where you are going in the Phoenix area, this is well worth the extra few miles out of the hustle and bustle! Don't pass this place up because of the negative reviews! Be like us and be pleasantly surprised! Mehr

We enjoyed very much our stay at Desert Arroyo. It was very difficult to find at night, behind office complexes. We had booked a one bedroom, but was upgraded at no charge. We had 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, full kitchen, complete with garage with washer and dryer! They don't provide food, but we used the pots and pans and fridge and made breakfast (grocery […] less than a mile away.) Only downside was carpet was very soiled in a few spots, had concern that we would be charged. Also, couch/pull out was well-worn. All in all, it was well worth the price and would stay again if in the area. Mehr

I was thrilled when I first saw my room. The location was odd (in the middle of an industrial park), but the view from my room was a gorgeous mountain on one side and the pool on the other. I had a fireplace, full kitchen, and 2 bedrooms, even though I only booked and paid for a 1 bedroom. It wasn't until I spent the night that I realized I would NEVER […] return. I have camped outdoors countless times, slept in hostels in developing countries, and slept on rooftops, and I have never complained about the comfort of my bed until now. I slept maybe an hour all night because the bed was so horrendously uncomfortable. The pillows were like boulders, as well. I was so sore the next day, I thought a warm shower might help a little. I got into the shower only to find the pressure was so bad, it barely drizzled out of the shower head. I also wasn't able to change the temperature! I had to sleep on the sofa my next 2 nights (I would have slept on the floor, but the carpet was filthy), buy my own pillow, and forgo showering. At first glance, this place was great for what I paid, but I was robbed of the most important details- sleep and cleanliness (my own and the room's). Mehr

Really liked the location!! The room was nice and comfortable. It was in a quiet area of town and the price was great. I stayed there for one night. The only complaint that I do have is when we requested a late check out because I had ran in the Rock n Rock Half Marathon they were a little rude about it. Very difficult to locate. Not aware it was a time share unit. Broken dead bolt front door. Only key lock. Window unlocked and open behind blinds. Carpet stained all. LR couch torn. Heat/AC fan bad bearings. Too loud to use. Master toilet loose to floor. Tub grout/sealant mildewed. Master bed mattress worn out..Office hours not accomodating to early […] departure. Mehr

The condos are set back in an industrial area. It is surrounded by scenery, but not within walking distance to anything. I was told to check-in before 4pm. Arrived at about 12:30pm and everyone was out to lunch. When clerk arrived I stressed how inconvenient it was that nobody was here after traveling for 7hours. Without even checking to see if condo […] was ready, she said check-in was not until 4pm anyway so we would have to wait. I scheduled flight plans around the information I was given, so we just had to deal with it. Ten minutes later, after she checked, we checked in. Condo was fairly clean with great appliances. Nice view from balcony. Tubs were very old with the permanant dirt and rusted hardware. The "premium bedding" did not include fitted sheets or decent blankets. They were regular sheets tucked around the edges...yes, you woke up on the mattress...gross. Blankets were the golden brown type blankets that you get on airplanes. Also, asked for extras since there was not enough to cover 3 bedrooms the first night and did not get them. We were told that the top lock was locked on our door so they could not get in. Of course, no call or anything so we actually had to buy blankets. It was very plain with maybe 2-3 pictures total. There were no curtains, only white blinds...made for a great wake up to the Arizona sun. No working phone. When we tried to call the office, multiple times throughout the day, nobody answered. We did find a "maintenance" man later that came up and took the phone. When we returned later, a phone was there, but still never worked. Not necessarily a big deal unless your cell is dead and you need to call 911. Non-heated pool. Hottub was not working first try. Next night redeemed themselves with hottub working...we were there about 11pm. Next night, hours changed and area closed at 10pm. Oh yeah, the tv in the living room was not even as wide as the fireplace that they did not provide wood for. Overall, I did huge amount of research on this Mehr

Nice quiet out of the way location, yet close to restaurants, groc stores, shopping, and hiking. Pool and spa were nice. Will stay there again.

Ou stay during the 2011 Thanksgiving weekend was superlative in every way. The Desert Arroyo hotel room is, in fact, an 1100+ sq. ft. apartment nestled in the secluded hills of South Mountain. The hotel is sparkling clean, staff is terrific, and amenities are plentiful. We heartily recommend Desert Arroyo as a wonderful alternative to conventional hotels, […] and, the price cannot be beaten. Mehr

It was ok, very plain, average comfort. I think it was overpriced for the condition of the place. Carpet was stained & needs updates. We did enjoy the desert surroundings & to be away from the busy streets. We probably won't stay there again.

We had a very nice 3-bdrm townhouse with full everything, including a washer/dryer, and right at the base of the mountain foothills. Lovely hiking was right outside the door. Don't go there expecting daily housekeeping - this is more like renting an apartment than a hotel room - all the necessities were there, even a blender for my morning smoothie. […] Staff was extremely helpful in providing information about nearby stores, food delivery, how to get around town, etc. We will stay there again and again! Good location for my work travels and it's nice change of pace from a hotel, but no regular maid service and the internet did not work for me after 8 PM.

This hotel has a great location and great hiking right out your door. I got in town early and they went out of their way to get the room cleaned early so I could get in before check-in time. Thanks!

This place exceeded my expectations. Went to PHX to get some late fall mountain biking in with my friend who lives in upstate NY (I live in California). This is an annual trip for us. If you’re looking to ride the mountain bike trails of the Phoenix area, this is your place. Super easy access to I-10, 5 minutes from the airport and a 40 foot pavement […] ride on your bike before you are on 75 miles worth of mountain bike trails. This place was great for us; comfortable, clean 2 bedroom condo and didn’t have to drive anywhere unless going down the street to the store to stock up on food and beer.
