Only reason to stay here is as a base for visiting Cinque Terre (which is a MUST!). Leave the car at the hotel - 10 min. by train to Riomaggiore and hotel offers a free shuttle to the train station. The hotel staff was outstanding and the breakfast buffet was very nice. The free shuttle to the train station and the ferry made it very convenient to visit Cinque Terre. Although the location was a little out of the way, we found a bus line that dropped us off just a block from the hotel.

Outstanding ! ! ! After reading several great reviews, my only concern was the location. It's in an industrial location, quite far from the center of town. But after having stayed there, I think the location is excellent. Downtown is a horrible traffic mess. I'm so glad we didn't stay there. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the train station […] and to the boat docks for travel to Cinque Terre. The hotel's location is also convenient to thehighway, giving easy access to other seaside towns as well as the rest of Italy. By the way, if you go on to Google Earth and access "Street View", it shows an ugly alley behind the hotel. Frightening. But the hotel is actually not visible from the street. The hotel reception staff is fabulous. Donatella especially (as well as the others) was like having a personal guide throughout the area. Made seeing a lot in a little time so effortless. Truly enjoyed the casual environment and luxurious pampering.

Nice enough hotel. Price was reasonable for the area. Staff seemed eager to help. Language barrier was difficult at times. Breakfast was nice.

It is tucked away about 1km from the lake just outside the old city area. It does not present well when you first arrive and it is not easy to find unless you are within 500 metres of it. Once inside you notice the management have tried very hard to make a difficult building look at its best. The dining is well laid out but poorly advertised and that […] needs to be adressed as it is a good eating venue. It would have the most efficient lift we have found even if a bit quirky to use. Breakfast adequate without being as good as it needs to compensate for the location. Roooms are basic and air conditionig noisy but effective - controlled from office. Mehr

Fast trip to coastal towns, free parking

We used this hotel as our base for visiting Cinque Terre because it is only 10 min. by train to Riomaggiore and the hotel offers a free shuttle to the train station. The hotel is quite comfortable, but excellent service is its hallmark. Our train returning to La Spezia was delayed almost one hour, but the shuttle driver was aware of the delay and waited […] for us. Even more important was the action the hotel staff took when we discovered we had left some very important medications in our room when we arrived at our next destination. When we called Hotel Ghironi and they confirmed that they had found the medications and were holding them at the desk, We provided them the address of a hotel we had booked for our next stop and they shipped the meds arriving the day of our arrival so that a major problem was avoided. For the money we found this to be a good hotel. The rooms did smell of having been smoked in, but the staff was friendly and helpful in planning our outings.

The hotel was very nice, staff from manager down were helpful and friendly, breakfast was good. The place is very nice and I would recommend it apart from the fact that it is a 30 minute walk from the town. There are buses but it is such a nuscience that I would be inclined to stay in a lesser hotel in the town the next time. The free shuttle bus helps […] but is not flexible enough, although one morning the manager happened to pass me walking and stopped to drive me in to the station! Hotel was very accomidating getting us to the train station. However, the clerk told us to go to a restraunt at least 3 miles from the hotel walking. We ended up at McDonalds.

this hotel is an excellent choice if you want to explore the cinque terra. the staff is very helpful, the rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast is generous. the hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the train or ferry.

The hotel itself was great. We were surprised that it was so far from the train station and from any restaurants or shopping. Pretty isolated in that regard. Great staff, helpful with sight-seeing tips and scheduling for Cinque Terre area. Room was fantastic, excellent breakfast. Internet free for 10 minutes then they charged by the hour. Hotel does […] have free shuttle service, but on THEIR schedule, not necessarily yours. Overall, would recommend anyway. Just be ready to pay for the taxi at least once unless you can call them to have them pick you up at the train station! As Americans, we didn't have a European cell phone. Mehr

The hotel was clean and the staff wonderful. The location is a ways from the better areas for tourists, but the hotel provides free shuttles to and from various locations which was a real asset. The breakfast buffet was good and the price was right for the area. All in all I was very pleased. We would have stayed longer if it was closer to the beach […] area. Mehr

We stayed two nights while visiting Cinque Terre. The hotel is clean and quaint, furnished with older pieces. It is 4 km from the train station, but does have a free shuttle during certain business hours. The staff at the Ghironi Hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They answered all our questions and offered information on things we didn't even know to ask about (that rarely happens). The hotel was beautiful and offered a wonderful free breakfast. Parking in their private lot was free and plentiful. They are located a little further from the […] buses and trains, but offered free shuttle service to and from some of the major tourist areas. A major bonus for those traveling with a limited amount of luggage: there's a 24x7 laundromat located just down the street. Staying near Cinque Terre is expensive, but this hotel is a wonderful choice. Mehr

Great Service, Clean Rooms, and affordable price. Daytime cab ride is about 10 minutes. Only knack is that we were stuck in downtown late after 11PM and it's harder to find a taxi to take us back to the hotel which is farther away from other hotels.

Nice hotel a little away from everything, but with a return shuttle from the reilway to the hotel.

au top pour la visite, dès l'acceuil remise de brochure (horaire bateau , des trains, vente des billets) et surtout navette gratuite pour vous amener au port ou à la gare et vous ramener. un grand parking gratuit, un copieux petit déjeuner , une belle salle de bain moderne. Le contre, hotel excentré, chambre vieillote, environnement du balcon tristounet […] avec vu sur les maisons voisines, les grues du port...mais dans l'ensemble à recommander sans trop s'attarder sur le balcon pour ne pas déprimer ! Ok för att besöka Cinque Terre. Hotellet har transfer buss till/från tågstationen. Tyvärr långt till centrum om man vill promenera.

Hôtel offrant des facilités d'accès aux cinque terre. Confort relatif des chambres mais bon accueil de la réception.

We enjoyed staying at the hotel. The personnel were very helpful and there was free transport to the train connection to Cinque Terre. Suggestion: Guests would appreciate FREE INTERNET in the rooms instead of having to pay Vodaphone €15 per day. Provide free internet, please.

Hotel sympa avec un personnel très accueillant. Bon rapport qualité prix, le petit déj est très copieux.

Flott hotell, og veldig hyggelige og hjelpsomme mennesker. Grei frokost med egg og bacon++. Store fine rom med balkong. Beliggenheten var et lite minus. Det lå litt for langt fra sentrum, med jernbanestasjon osv. Men de veide dette litt opp med å kjøre oss til og fra stasjonen/bussholdeplass/kai. Dette måtte avtales dagen før, men det fungerte bra. […] Vi besøkte Chinque Terre, og dette var et helt fint utgangspunkt. Vi var også en tur i Portovenere. Det anbefales på det sterkeste. Og en fiskeresturant vi ble anbefalt på hotellet, ligger bare 2-300 m unna. Den bør prøves! Mehr

Hotellets personale er meget venlige og servicemindede. Vi fik virkelig god service vedrørende vores tur til Cinque Terre. Personalet var klar med brochuremateriale og togbilletter og det var dejligt med hotellets gratis shuttlebus til La Spezia station. Vi fik også anbefalet en rigtig god restaurant i Portovenere. Men for os var det et stort minus […] at hotellet ligger så langt fra La Spezias centrum. Mehr

Accueil performant mais l'ensemble est à rénover : mobilier vieillot et installation un peu dépassée. La situation n'est pas proche du centre mais le bus est juste à côté et l'hôtel propose un shuttle . Le petit déjeuner est satisfaisant .

Det er et udemærket hotel, hvis man skal bruge det til overnatning. Der kunne godt være mere udendomplads med møbler , blomserne er heller ikke holdt pænt.

Rigtig godt hotel incl. god morgenmad. God information vedr. køb af billetter til toget ud til Cinque Terre samt omkring hotellets service med shuttle bus til banegården samt afhentning igen.

Hotellet hadde generelt god service. Det som gjorde mest intrykk var at de kjørte og hentet sine gjester på togstasjonen. Dette passet os veldig godt da vi gjorde en vandring gjennom "Cinque Terre". Denne tjenesten ble gjort uten ekstra kostnader. Holet hadde lyse trivelige rom.
