Mike Ditka Resorts - Runaway Beach Club - Kissimmee

We had been to Mike Ditka before and had a great time. This time we had a lot of noise coming from the upper apartment (we had the botttom) the management told us they could not do anything about the 14-16! guest staying upstairs because it was owned now by a different management company. We did not sleep all night, the noise from the apartment was […] unbearable. At the pool pool towels were denied to us on the grounds that this resort was the Calypso resort and they did not cater to Mike Ditka guests. When we check in we should have guessed something was wrong since we had to check in at an outside located office at a strip mall nearby and not at the facility. I was really dissappointed to see the place go down this way. Will not stay again. Mehr

The office staff was completely unprofessional and the whole thing seemed to be temporary. However, the room was basically a condo (with washer and dryer) which would be nice for a family vacations.

After reading the reviews prior to booking our stay I was not quite sure. The check in office was not on the property which was a little odd but was not a bad experience, staff was very polite. Got to our room and the A/C was not working, staff was quick in response to the call and transferred us to a different room. Rooms were clean, but all the utilities […] were old and not functioning properly. I would stay again but give ourselves a little more time to adjust to the problems... Mehr

The room and overall resort was very nice. The MIKE DITKA staff however was horrible!!! They were rude on phone. The room sleeps 6 and when I asked for more towels, face cloths and blankets they acted offensive and never brought them. Supposedly Mike Ditka is being bought out by another company... I hope they get rid of current staff!!

The condo was very nice, we left another property in kissimmee that was not so much. The one bedroom apt was clean, roomy, full kitchen, large bathroom, and quite safe, off the main drag-192. The bad-, the property itself seems to be managed by more than one company. Went to the on site check-in center and was referred to a different office, off property. […] Called to notify that the a/c was not working, given another # to call. Left a message, no one called back. Called again, someone came over, could not fix the problem, it was past 5 and he could not work overtime. Promised early next morning. At 1:00, I went to the office, was told, rather nastily, someone would get there soon, I was not the only one having a/c problems. Temp at the condo, 80 degrees. When they showed up, the a/c was fixed, for 24 hours, next day same problem. When I checked out, again rather rudely, I was told it was my fault for turning the thermostat to 68. How could this be? I did not have a/c to begin with. Resort fee of 12.00 a day is rather excessive, considering they all they have is a pool area and a fitness room, just as any hotel has in the area. No maid service (extra charge) no garbage pickup (trash lying around outside from other condos, we found a dumpster and used it) no golf course, tennis courts, kids playground, shuttle service... what is the resort fee for??? Roaches. Lots of them! Pool area was nice. But the room had roaches.

room was dirty, the appliances really didn't work and hotels.com did not tell me about the extra fees I would be charged. I would never stay here again or book through hotels.com

My husband was so excited to be staying at his football hero's resort! I wish the excitement could have lasted. Not only was it dingy, outdated and dirty, but the trash outside all over the floor should have been a red flag. We arrived in the early morning hours so we didn't notice the ugliness right away, however we did notice the terrible smell. By […] the time the sun came up we new we had made a big mistake ! Holes in the wall. Wet carpet. stains on the furniture. Broken light fixtures. When I went to complain about no towels in our villa , I was told by the club house manager that he worked for Calypso Cay,and couldn't help me but that he hears it all the time from Mike Ditka Guest! We left that morning and will never ever go back. I have already told everyone I know to stay away from the Mike Ditka Reaort! It all smoke and mirrors. Mehr

Our overall stay was ok Our bed sheets were giving me allergies and when we Put them I the washer the comforters let out so much dust which made the water black and the washer and dryer were not working well either The fans had layers of dust on them too The place is very nice and quiet but the cleanliness of the bed sets and fans was just gross

This was my family second time staying at Mike Ditka. When my family and I arrived, the hotel office was in a different location from the actual hotel. The office was located in the back of a restaurant/store..I feel that I should've been informed about the changes before my arrival.

It was certainly a low end resort type of atmosphere. The couches were dirty. The amenities were sparse. I had a bug crawl onto my arm while reading on the couch. Next time I'd stay elsewhere.

We came from out of town only to be sentto anotherhotel at 11:00pm without any warning. They gave us a two bedroom although we pd for a three. They were rude and didnt care how they spoke to us. They then had us move to another room back at mike ditka but our room was not ready until 2:30 pm and it still was not clean. We requested new linen they left […] it at the front stairs. It was the worse.!!!! I would never recommend anyone else to attend there,,, Mehr

The pool area and indoor basketball area were fantastic. Everything else, not so much. This is not really a hotel but really more of a condo/villa resort. You WILL need to go to the Walmart that is less thana mile away for toilet paper and other necessities if you are staying for a week (you only get one roll). You will also have to get laundry supplies […] unless you want to pay through the nose for a housekeeping visit. We had to call for maintenance four times in the week we stayed here (microwave, sofa sleeper fell apart, and twice for the dishwasher). The day before we were leaving the front desk supposedly called in a taxi request for me for the next morning (never happened). Luckiy, I had a feeling they blew it and confirmed the taxi reservation myself (or lack of a reservation). If I hadn't done this, we probably would have missed our plane. Every time we went through the lobby someone was at the front dest complaining about something (at least 8 times). Shuttle times back and forth to Disney are also pretty restricted (3 in the morning (out) and 3 in the evening (back). Otherwise you are looking at an expensive cab ride back and forth. Not bitter, just disappointed that this was portrayed as a regular hotel when it really isn't. Good luck in your search! Mehr

This resort looks great from the outside, but inside was a different story. The shower curtain rods were falling out of the wall, the carpet was damp in areas, and the beds were ridiculously uncomfortable. At check in we were given a list of the exact number of items in the room and how much they would cost to replace. And yes, the towels would be counted […] at the end. Not real high class. It's good for falling unconscious after a long day at the parks (because really, do you care where you sleep after 12 hours of walking, waiting in lines, and riding roller coasters?), but I've learned my lesson and will go with a boring regular hotel next time. Oh, and did I mention the pool was not heated? It got down to 25 degrees one night we were there. No swimming for us! Mehr

The room was nice the towels in the bathroom looked dirty. The kids upstairs run around all night until 1am in the morning.

I went with a friend and spent 2 weeks .. Nobody came for housekeeping as they tell they do each 4 days. The house had long blond hairs everywhere. The kitchen had oil on the floor ..The staff is rude, except a guy that works night. Não recomendo! Varios problemas!

When I was checking in a was a few min early so we had to sit and wait. As the line grew the staff just started taking people that we currently in line and gave them rooms so the groups of waiting had to get back in line and wait even though we already did. There were only 2 people at the front desk and they seemed completely overwhelmed. Other than […] the check in everything else was perfect. Very clean and plenty of room. It was close to the Disney Parks and Publix (grocery store) is right down the street. Well worth it and I will stay here again in the future & have recommended it to a friend. Mehr

This place is always consistent! Easy in and out! Lots of room for the family!

Had to wait a long time to check-in. Our three bedroom villa was on the 2nd floor w/ the stairs IN our room. Meaning my husband and I had to constantly check to make sure our one year old wasn't close to falling down the stairs. Even with putting the coffee table in front of the stairs, I was still always checking to see what he was doing. - Not very […] relaxing to say the least. No dish soap in the villa for quick dish cleaning. Some spoons were dirty. A piece of metal was sticking out of one of the electrical outlets, so that was another thing my husband and I had to be on the lookout for. The furniture was a little old/ worn out looking. The toliets and tubs were old and stained. Very disappointed. Won't be back. Mehr

Was surprised,very old and outdated tvs.

We were very disappointed with our stay there. The room was in poor condition with broken tv stand, broken washer and dryer, stained carpeting and furniture. The sofa bed was horrible with the bars coming through. They only allow you 1 roll of toilet paper and 5 towels for a 4 day stay with 4 people. The 1 bedroom villa only sleeps 4 not 6 as in the […] ad and there was no DVD player. I asked to be upgraded to a 2 bedroom but was told there were none available for the length of my stay. And the housekeeping is only after 4 days. They charge a $10 per day resort fee which is not worth it. I wuld not reccomend this resort to anybody. Mehr

Nice hotel rented a 1 bedroom daughter slept on pull couch needed to purchase a foam since we old feel the spring n the mattress. Basic pots and pans no cleaning products, extra toilet pper or dish soap. Would go back just in the notes when booking would ask for first floor. If you don't request the first floor chances are you won't get it cause I explained […] that when i was booking i didn't have the option on what floor and they told me that's what the notes are for.l Mehr

We had to look for someone to check us in when we arrived. The front desk was empty. Our room was unlocked and open upon arrival. We called the front desk for assistance. The front desk personnel acted as if we should have checked out the room ourselves. The maintenance worker who checked our room was very friendly. Our room was backed up to the highway. […] It was very loud. The maids smoked outside the room in the courtyard that you had to walk through to get to your car. I don't like to have to walk through cigarette smoke to get back and forth. I stood at the front desk for over 5 minutes trying to check out; again nobody was at the front desk. I finally decided to just leave and hoped that there was no need to check out at the desk. This hotel is very nice and clean, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The location of the hotel was so loud it was very difficult to sleep. This was a great concept, but not well executed. Mehr

The initial registration took a lomg time.Tried registering (3) times. Especialy when they started to add more money to the bill as originaly stated. (Nickel and Dime situation was added to everything.)Overall our stay was wonderful and pleasant.The 2 rbedroom suite was vrty nice.

i found out after our stay that each condo is privately owned and not all owners show pride of ownership. My bed was terrible. It was so old that it made loud noises when I turned and woke up my room mate. I left with a bad back ache due to no support. the refrig leaked all over our food and the vanities in both bathrooms were old and peeling...very […] unpleasant.. I doubt that Mr. Ditka would be happy to put his name on a product that that was below par. Mehr

Staff was very helpful and pleasant {Art}. The shopping area was great. I felt very safe at night on the property. Hotel room equipped with the nessasities. Everything was GREAT.

I've visited on several ocassions. This particular time the towels were stained, so were the sheets and pillow cases. No extra garbage bags or paper towels as in the past. I went to the front desk and told the manager and no one ever came by. I advised at the time of check out and they even charged me for the extra hour I took to pick up. No consideration […] whatsoever for the items that were claimed. Mehr

Lets see...so microwave stopped working, cockroach in room, tv sound not working, and worst of all two fan blades broke off while on and in our baby's room with no apology or action by management!! Need I say more?

How does this place have 4 stars? The carpet was disgusting. The linens looked and felt as if they might get cleaned once a year, the shower head wouldn't stay in place, the ice maker didn't work, neither phone worked, one of the switches for a lamp was the philips head of a screw.... If you take kids to Orlando, you need to stay in a suite. These are very spacious and feel like home. Compared to other vacation resorts in the area, their amenities lack. But overall we were happy to pay so little for a condo.

The property was maintained, and the people were very nice and service oriented. The buildings are not extremely well built when it comes to noise, but the space was adequate and the kitchen was very workable. For the price, it was on target.

We had a two night stay.. and wished we stayed longer. But they were sold out. We check in to a two bedroom suite... instead we got a three bedroom. We cook our entire Thanksgiving meal wednesday nite.. Ate all day thursday and played card and games... Truely enjoyed our stay...... We'll be back for Spring break....

When I booked this online, I thought it was too good to be true because of the price. I was so pleasantly surprised that everything was as nice as the photos and people were very nice. The villas at the Mike Ditka Runaway Beach Club were very spacious and came with anything you would need. Washer and dryer were very handy as were all the cooking and dining accessories that were provided right in your villa. One minor discrepancy was that one of the sofa beds was broke and one of the tv's was an older picture tube style tv. Other than […] that this place is fantastic!!! Will definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed our whole experience at the Runaway Beach Club, from the time we turned into the facility, the whole check-in experience and then the villa!! OMG, we've been to other resorts before but are really happy with Runaway Beach Club.
