Room was quite small for a double. Sewer smell in bathroom although kept very clean. Only one bedside cabinet/light. Lack of drawer space and coat hangers. Stables Restaurant quite good but worth the two mile drive to eat at South Causey Inn instead. Service from hotel staff was excellent but restaurant staff got a few things wrong.

As per previous reviews, excellent hotel and the Stables resaurant offers great food in a wonderful building. Only downside mobile phone signal bot very good.

My wife and I stayed at Beamish Hall following a visit to Beamish Museum. We were very impressed by the welcome we received at check in and were given the room we requested which gave us magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. Must say what a fabtastic Hotel . The room , Food and Srvices where excellent one down fall was that I could not get a Mobile Phone signal due to Loacation but this was a Monor Problem . Would well recommend this hotel to any body 5 star

Lovely situation - friendly staff. Attended a Christmas function and stayed overnight - amazed at the quality of the food for a big function - happy to recommend to anyone.

the hotel was fantastic especially for Functions as we were there for a wedding which i would recommend as the place and staff were really friendly and helpful, you would have to drive as the nearest village was about 2 miles away but nice countryside.

Excellent place to stay with the museum just up the road. Staff very friendly and helpful,our room was cozy and clean. Best of all was the food, wonderful breakfast selection and the menu at the Stables was of a very high standard.Will stay there again one day.

What do you expect at a country house hotel? If it is a large mansion building ,great breakfast ,home made beer and a cockeral out side your window at 5.30 am then this is the place for you .The rooms are spotless but retain country charm.The breakfast is the best i have had at any hotel. The micro brewerey makes a selection of exellent brews but i […] could have done without the cockeral. The hotel is an old converted country house and has some style. It is set in spacious grounds with ample parking. The public areas and dining room are well presented. Reception was welcoming and efficient. The main short-coming was the size of the bedroom - cramped with limited room around the double bed. Breakfast was OK. Housekeeping service was excellent, every time we came back to our room it looked how it had when we checked in. I have not stayed in another hotel that impressed me that much. Breakfast was wonderful thanks to Tony who really brightened up the mornings with his personality and really made us feel welcome.

Great country hotel in lovely grounds. Extremely good value and very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms are finished to a high standard with power showers and antique furniture. Breakfast was great with a wide choice of cooked items as we as a cold buffet. My only criticism was the noise. I stayed in rm 201, which was lovely. But I was disturbed by the […] bathroom fan from rm 202 and the kitchen fans directly outside my window. Reception did however deal with this promptly and I slept well for my remaining nights. The hotel was perfect. Located in a lovely setting just minutes away from Beamish museum and within a short drive of Durham, Newcastle, The Metro Centre, and South Shields. The […] room was spotless as was the bathroom - you couldn't fault the cleanliness of the hotel. We enjoyed food in the hotel's restaurant and a pint of their own brewed ale. Breakfast was fabulous - I had continental breakfast, you had choice of fruit, juices, yoghurt, croissants, cereal - just about everyting you could want. The cooked breakfast was also good size. There was just one thing that bugged me about this hotel - the mobile phone signal was non-existant. I'm with Virgin and couldn't get a signal at all until we were well away from the hotel. It was good if you want a nice quite atmosphere, but bad if you need to make a call... the phone in the bedrooms was the only option. Overall definitely 5 *, ideal for a relaxing stay. As long as one realises that there is also a bird of prey centre and Ropes activity Course on site, this country house hotel provides good accommodation, excellent meals and caring staff. The Hotel itself was very grand but the soundproofing was non-existant and the bed was uncomfortable. The Stable Resturant ajoining the hotel and under the same ownership was very good. Good Food and Good service. The Breakfast was adequate.

Lovely hotel set in excellent surroundings. The staff were very friendly, breakfast was excellent and although we thought we would have to pay it was inclusive in the price of the room which was a a good rate. The evening meal was at a restaurant separate to the hotel but on the same location, wasn't a lot of choice but the food was presented well and […] tasted wonderful. The only downside was the hotel room, it was clean, the bathroom had every facility needed but the room itself was very small and only one chair so we had to take turns between sitting on the bed and chair. A fine country house hotel set in lovely countryside and less than five minutes from the entrance to the excellent Beamish Museum. The rooms are comfortable and traditionally furnished - if a little on the small side. The breakfast was of good quality and served in an efficient and friendly manner in a splendid dining room - it looked as if it had witnessed […] many a grand ball. We picked this hotel for its location next to Beamish Museum. The location was perfect. The hotel beautiful, the staff delightful, helpful & friendly. Our room was pleasant but very small for 2 people. There was only one bedside table so I had to use the floor to put my glasses on. The kettle lead did not reach the plug socket, staff provided us with […] an extension lead. The person in the room next door kept their light on in the bathroom all night which meant the noise from the fan kept us awake. Staff were prepared to move us, but we were going home the next day. This has not put us off, having seen other rooms we would stay again but avoid room 201. Mehr

the hotel was absolutely magnificent, couldnt of asked for more. all the staff were very friendly, kind and very helpful. set in a seculuded area, very peaceful and quiet. hotel staff couldnt do enough for us, even down to explaining the history of the hotel. staff in the stable were fantastic, polite and very friendly. food in the stable bar and hotel […] were excellent. I stayed here for one night with my wife and we thought it was great. It's a really grand building with suits of armour and antiques. Some of these kind of places can be a bit shabby and past their best, but this place was perfect. It's been re-furbished recently, and the carpets, fittings, and everything seemed new (even the antiques!). Due to the […] nature of the building, apparently each room is a slightly different size and shape. Our room was smaller than a modern hotel room, but was spotless and finished wery well. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom looked to be newly fitted out and had a great shower. The breakfast was good, with a good choice cooked to order. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The 'Stables' bar and restaurant was very nice. It's a lovely building and the beers brewed on site were excellent and only about £2.20 a pint. Food there was also excellent, with a few 'experimental' dishes on the menu as well as traditional stuff. There is ample free carparking (with no marked spaces, so you can leave as much room as you like), and the hotel is set in lovely and peacefull grounds. We felt that it was great value. There's also a 'bird of prey' centre and 'high wire' activity on site (which we didn't try). The hotel sells reduced price entry tickets to the excellent Beamish open air museum close by, which is well worth seeing. Mehr
