The first staff contact was very despective and negative. The staff better the attention in the follow hours. We only stay 1 night and looking for another hotel for stay the follow 3 days because we disagree the service.

This is a nice hotel with friendly, efficient staff, and comfortable surroundings. The room was a good size, clean and comfortable, but a little cold. We ate there on an evening and found the food to be ok for the price. Overall you get what you pay for, and I thought this good value for money.

We arrived at about 10 pm after a family reunion and had to ring the bell to gain access. The receptionist was very offhand and we almost felt we were imposing by arriving at that time, even though the room was pre-booked and fully paid for. We were left to find our own room, up and down several flights of stairs, which was not easy with luggage. This hotel was not at all a 3 star rating. Even a one star would have been generous for the room. The outside looked nice but the room was a big disappointment. The facilities with room should have just listed the ironing board and bed as the shower would suddenly become scorching hot even when turned down to cold and the TV would continuously/ frequently […] flicker. We were able to watch the TV periodically when (we were told by reception) other people were not trying to watch the same TV channel at the same time as us. The same was said about the shower. I replied that that seems to defeat the object of being a hotel which has 'many rooms' for 'many people'. The walls had finger prints and running lines of where liquid had obviously been thrown down it and so we did our best not to brush against them! The bed was good enough to sleep in. That was about the only good thing that I could say about it. It was a shame because I really don't look particularly hard to see bad things about hotel rooms..unfortunately though, the problems with my stay here were impossible to ignore. Mehr

You get what you pay for really. Positives - its cheap, and new shower room. Negatives - room in need of TLC, lighting is so drab, very noisy plumbing but then is an old building, shower room new but shower is tiny and strangely the hot water gets faster the more you turn the heat up? which means by the time its coming out at a decent rate to get a […] good shower its hot enough to take your skin off. Very helpful staff, lovely fresh breakfast. Only downside of my stay was my shower was not working properly. Would have reported it but only stayed 1 night.

We were really disappointed with the hotel ,we felt that it needed a good face lift ,although the bed room was very clean ,the rest of the hotel looked dull and shabby we would not recoment this hotel to anyone

This hotel is quiet. The breakfeast is generous. Tipically English one.

I booked this hotel because it looked to be better than many of its competitors in the area and price range, but i never got to see past the reception area. The Edgbaston Palace looks like an all right sort of hotel - even if I was expected to produce photo ID to check in! This involved going back out of the building, across the car park and up to the front door of the building next door. Security consisted of ringing the doorbell and showing my key fob to the camera. The door opened and I discovered my accommodation for the night was a hotel with no bar and absolutely no staff. It was like being on a ghost ship. The room was comfortable enough in a slightly down-at-heel way, but it didn't feel the securest set-up I've ever seen. Just be aware if you book the Edgbaston Palace Hotel, you may well not be staying there! Mehr

Great location, close to Broad Street, has a bus stop right outside it to get you to the centre. Quite nice inside with a cosy and friendly bar. Rooms are quite satisfactory however found it frustrating that there was a slight draught of cold air entering the room through the old fashioned windows even when closed and when I first entered my room the […] window was open. Very convient hotel with quiet and comfortable room. Room only rate excellent value.

We weren't told the car park was locked at 10.30pm, despite being asked to fill in our car registration, nor that the hotel door was locked at 11.30pm. WiFi was very expensive. The hotel was clean and ok but the staff, except in the restaurant at breakfast, were disinterested, unhelpful and not at all welcoming. Although the single room was small, it was very clean and tidy. Room cleaned, towels changed and tea/coffee replenished every day. Staff very helpful and polite. As I was working nights, disturbances through the day was kept to a minimum.

Never again! The room was microscopic with not even enough room for a toilet roll holder, there was nowhere to hang any clothes because a suit would not fit in the so called wardrobe, and the duvet was three quarters of the length of the very small bed. Breakfast was adequate but they must have an agreement with the samallest sausage in the world makers. […] Avoid at all costs would be my recommendation Mehr

We had a light, airy, spacious room which was spotlessly clean and the beds very comfortable. Hotel Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had booked breakfast which had a very varied menu and the food was excellent with Waitress Service. I have given the Hotel 5 stars as we could not fault it. I stayed a couple of nights at the Edgbaston Palace Hotel for a business trip. It was very easy to find and the food was lovely. I was provided a room with a mezzanine, loved the way the space was used to separate the living and sleeping space.

friendly professional staff, nice good sized room, traffic a bit noisy, would benefit from double glazing.

A fantastic, clean, and welcoming hotel. Well located for access to Broad Street. The staff are friendly and the hotel provide ample free secure parking. Rooms are comfortable and modern, and the hotel benefits from an on site bar. Breakfast can be pre ordered at time of check-in at a cheaper rate. In the morning a premium is charged.

Some construction work was going on of which we were not aware, neither was there any information regarding this civil work on the website to warn to warn the people about it. Moreover wifi was also charged at a mind blowing rate of 5 pounds for an hour.

Excellent staff who could not do enough for us, all the charm of a real hotel and a terrific choice of breakfasts - what more could you ask for? Well, it is on a regular bus route into town, a good range of restaurants nearby if you want to eat out and plenty of onsite parking. I've stayed here on a number of occasions, and the Edgbaston is excellent value. Don't let the location put you off. The hotel is clean, conveniently located, staff are friendly and polite, and the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. Recommended.

Only one person on check in despite a long queue of guests. Breakfast is served at different times on a weekend to a weekday causing confusion. When we went to have breakfast we were informed by an individual - the manager who didn't look up once from his computer whilst speaking to us that serving had just finished and there was nothing that could […] be done. At no stage did he offer an apology or a refund. He suggested we might be able to get something from TGI Friday next door. Clearly he was expecting us to wait for it to open in two hours time - lunchtime!! On checking out the receptionist who was aware of our discontent thought it was humourous to suggest we would like to stay again!! If you want to stay somewhere which can only be liken to a rabbit warren, that's hot and stuffy, provides only one towel, tea cup etc in a room booked for two people, is unhelpful and rude to guests that pay to stay in their establishment then this is the hotel for you!! Despite it's location, this hotel is a welcome break from the faceless chains of hotels I usually frequent during business stays. The hotel is clean safe and very comfortable. The staff are friendly and professional. This hotel offers exceptional value and given its proximity to Broad Street, represents good value for personal stays.

I needed a place to stay in Birmingham for a week. The Edgbaston Palace Hotel was not the cheapest, close to it, but it had some good reviews, so I thought I'd go for it. To be honest, it was much nicer than I expected. The room was clean, and near the back of the property so it wasn't noisy at all. My only complaint about the room was that the "double […] bed" was actually just two singles stuck together. I ate in the restaurant a few times and enjoyed it a lot. £8 for a huge, delicious curry and £2.50 for a pint. Can't complain about those prices! In terms of location, it's about a 30- 40minute walk into the centre of town, but it's 5-10 on the bus or driving. Basically, if you need a place to stay in Birmingham and are watching the pennies, I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Mehr

The hotel itself was fine, but I had a room at the front of the hotel and it was EXTREMELY noisy from the traffic - not at all relaxing or restful. The window was not double glazed, so as well as the noise, it was draughty and I was cold. When I woke up in the morning, I thought I'd woken up in the car park, it was that noisy from cars speeding by. the Hotel was easy to find and reception very welcoming, room was spotlessly clean, however it was at the front of the Hotel overlooking the busy and sometimes noisy Hagley Road, but there are other rooms at the back of the Hotel. Very nice hotel, pleasant staff. Good bus service to city centre. Only one problem too many 6th form students staying in hotel, got a little noisy but a very nice stay.

Very good value for money - on a Sunday evening in late February, it was beating the 'economy' chains by quite a bit on price and was much more comfortable. Hotel has been recently refurbished (and it looked like work is ongoing in the back garden). Room was very clean, crisp linen, smart but basic bathroom. Soap/shower gel is in wall mounted dispensers […] which may not be to everyone's liking, but seems sensible to me. The double bed was fine for solo occupancy, but might be a bit narrow for two - being the standard British double. Lots of hot drink sachets, an iron and ironing board, and plenty of space in the room, although another bediside table would have been appreciated (the way the bathroom door opened into the room, this was not practicable). A flat screen TV is wall-mounted over the desk, and had Sky - plenty of channels, but that doesn't mean there is much to watch! The public rooms looked very smart and hospitable. Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on restaurants. Hotel is easy to find on what seems to be the main drag through Edgbaston - and a little over a mile from the ICC and NIA. As such, might be noisy from traffic if in a room at the front of the hotel (if there are any there?), but I was on the ground floor facing onto the inner courtyard, so very peaceful. That said, the quickest way to the room was across the courtyard, but not sure of an internal route if it was raining. People leaving the bar or having the window open in summer may not make the room so restful. The room had a Venetian blind but no curtains - and the blind didn't exclude all the light. There is a decent sized car park, but this might fill up quickly if a conference or other event is taking place at the hotel. A large conference room seemed to be set up with plenty of seats so looks like it can cater for a crowd. Would defintiely recommend for a night or two under similar circumstances, especially while it is benefiting from all the recent refurbishment. Mehr

Some advice -- if you are a light sleeper ask in advance to get a quiet room around the back of the hotel. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was therefore very noisy all night. I'd imagine all hotels on this road would have this problem -unless they had double glazing -which this hotel didn't. When we asked to swap rooms they said they couldn't […] as they were all booked, and that we could have asked in advance. The staff were all friendly and i'm sure if they could have moved us then they would. It was also quite cold in the room (in February). Great little hotel and very good value. The Hotel seems to have been recently refurbished, and the finish and quality is in line with the likes of New Premier Inns. There is the added benefit of the Hotel having a more personal feel and more character than a Premier Inn. For a value for money business stay in Birmingham, in good quality surroundings […] this is a gem. Don't let the it's location (Hagley Road) dissuade you. There is secure parking to the rear, a nice bar and freindly staff. You are also on a stones throw away from the best indian restuarant in Birmingham, Akbars, and may other eateries and bars. If that's not enough, you're not too far from Broad Street. Mehr

?Rooms recently been revamped, our bathroom was strange, the toilet and sink had been swapped around, the markings were still on the floor - hence the toilet roll holder was on the other side of the room and the mirror was over the toilet instead of over the sink - weird !!! The TV reception was bad, stations in and out of reception. The ceiling lite […] was half hanging off. The hairdryer wasn't working. The breakfast was ok BUT wouldn't want it again, had the full english but you could just tell it was all cheap ingreadients, couldn't even eat the baked beans, came from a 5pence can I think !! And its all plated up and you only get 1 of everything, if say you'd like 2 eggs then you have to drop one other item from the order!! The word CHEAPSKATES springs to mind - especially considering if it wasn't included in your room rate you'd pay £11.99 for it !! Wont be stopping there again :-( Mehr

We picked this hotel primarily for its location from the M5 motorway and the plentiful supply of buses into Birmingham for a concert at the NIA. Check-in was straightforward and had no problem finding the room in part of the new build at the rear of the site. The room was clean and well presented, ensuite bathroom most pleasing. This would be our only […] moan the room was warm even with the radiator off and window open and had we been staying more than one night would have asked for another room, or the problem to be investigated. Breakfast was most enjoyable, full english being served in a matter of moments from our order being taken by the very attentive waiting staff. Plentiful supply of cereals, juices and yogurts. Checkout was quick and hassle free. It made for a very leisurely drive home having saved a late night return trip and would certainly make use of this hotel again. Mehr

On arrival we were impressed with the hotel for the price that we paid. The staff were friendly and helpful in phoning us a taxi. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. The staff let us check in early as the room was available. We had a good nights sleep and were not disturbed by any noise. We found the room slightly cold which I feel […] is better than hotels that are really hot and uncomfortable. Once we were tucked up in bed this was not an issue. The only negative about the hotel was that there was a bit of damp in the bathrooms on the ceilings and also our shower did not work, so we had to have baths in the morning. A bit of a pain. When i reported this to reception they apologised and said that they would sort it out sraight away. Overall good for the price we paid. About £6 in a taxi into Birmingham city centre. Mehr

The hotel is in desperate need of renovation to compete with modern hotels. The worst thing, however, was the lack of working secondary glazing which meant, as my room faced onto one of Birmingham's busiest roads a poor night's sleep

On arrival we were greeted by reception. He was friendly and efficient although could not confirm the cost of the room as booked on line. GSOH and very comfortable, homely surroundings. The room was very spacious and comfortable, obviously recently modernised. It lacked colour and the finishing touches and in the morning the shower just didn't work? […] There was NO water? It was however very clean and the bed was comfortable. The evening bath was fine with plenty of hot water. I would recommend as friendly staff but not enough available for service at the bar in the evening. Mehr

The room is small but clean. The environment of the hotel is beautiful cuz there is a small garden in there. But the rules of the hotel cause so many inconvience. Visitor is not forbidden and you cannot eat any food which is not provided by the hotel. I didn't expect to stay in the place with so many constrains. I thought it should be stated clearly […] in the description before the booking. I could see the opposite window even they had closed the curtain. It made me feel violated in privacy. I was hesitant about the Edgbaston due to some extremely negative comments by other travellers. However, I found the staff extremely helpful. The room was small, but clean. I would suggest you request a room that is not on the courtyard as the noise from the bar, guests smoking and visiting, and toher guests moving from reception to their rooms is […] very disruptive. Because of this, I didn't sleep while I was there due to this noise. The price is very economical and incuded breakfast so I would stay there again as long as the room was not facing the courtyard. Stayed in a single room for 3 nights. Very quiet and clean room. Rather large for a single room. Is very close to botanical gardens and the city centre. HOwever it is a trek if you are going out of the city due to traffic.
