Adorable boutique hotel on the quiet fringe of the Latin quarter. Beautiful amenities, candles, kitchenette and balcony overlooking the city from the fourth floor. But just a waning, it was a walk-up so anyonyone with a medical condition might want to enquire about an elevator or lower floor, as this wasn't applicable, we didn't look. Other than that, […] very friendly desk staff, key card to enter building at any time. Very close to a great bakery and numerous restaurants. Breakfast looked good at additional cost but we didn't have time. All in all, If you like boutique hotels and don't mind stairs, then I highly recommend! Mehr

Our little Hotel Kutuma was perfect. I could not have picked a better location for us to explore the city. The Kutuma might not be everyone’s cup of tea (no elevator, our room was **very** snug, and located right above a very aromatic restaurant) but for us, it’s exactly what we look for when we travel. Our room had a small but fully equipped kitchenette […] and was super clean, fully and freshly updated, exotically decorated, and pretty damned cute. The kitchenette turned out to be a wonderful feature in a town where there are so many great food markets. The hotel is also right at the southern end of the liveliest and most interesting stretch of St-Denis. The staff is very low key (the “reception desk” is the hostess station for the Blue Nile restaurant) but they were always extremely helpful and accommodating. If you are someone would appreciate being just steps away from the best restaurants and bars in the Plateau, do not need the usual amenities of a traditional hotel, and like to experience something a little different, you might want to check out the Kutuma. Interestingly, I found the best deal for rooms through Hotels.com rather than going through the hotel directly. I thought that what we paid was very good value. We never did try the Blue Nile, but it was always busy and the smells were quite enticing. Mehr

The only minus point is that our bedroom was not clean, the carpet is dirty, as is the woodwork and floor in the bathrom. A good spring clean of the bedrooms would elevate our assessment of this hotel to a "very satisfied" rating. The staff was very helpful and friendly

Room was very nice but the kitchenette was not stocked -no pots-bowels etc.. -one two place settings (great if you are not going to use the kitchenette)

The valet dented my front and back bumper and didn't say anything. I noticed and was told only the owner can help me. Well it's been 3 days, I've left the hotel and everyday I call I'm promised a call from the owner tomorrow. I'm being given the runaround and I'm not pleased with the service. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Montreal. […] There are so many nice hotels on Sherbrooke to stay at...pick one of those. Mehr

Staying at the Hotel Kutuma was a really nice experience. This is not a large hotel, or a chain hotel. The decor is a little quirky, and other than valet parking and a clean, spacious, and well-appointed room there are limited services due to the small size of the hotel. The rooms are suites, with fridges, hotplates, and limited dishes etc. The decor […] is a little unsual, but clean and well-maintained. The staff were all polite and efficient. One note - there are no elevators and there is only valet parking. The hotel however is in a great location, by the shops / bars / restaurants near St. Denis and St. Louis square. It's only a few minute walk to the metro. I would stay here again due to the efficient and nice service at the front desk, the great condition of the rooms, and the location. If you're looking for a large hotel with all the amenities, this is not the hotel for you. If you're looking for a quirky, small, personal hotel this is a really good hotel. Mehr

This was a very pleasant stay at this little hotel. The room was amongst the best I have been to in the Montreal area. The service was very good. The restaurant and the food was also very exotic and nice. Price for the food was excellent. Great little boutique hotel - awesome service, delicious ethiopian dining within the building and perfect location- close to metro and within walking distance to great shopping and fabulous dining. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We will stay here again!

From the minute we arrived we loved our stay and regretted we had to leave so soon. It was just a delightfull experience and the meals are excellent. The staff go way beyond expectations and when we left we felt we were leaving friends behind. What a great little hotel! We choose it based on all the positive reviews and were not disappointed. The room was not your average hotel room -first the bed was very comfortable, the table for two for breakfast was picture perfect, bathroom with rain showerhead and decor was just what we were look for. The location is very central and the staff verry […] helpful - as my wife has decided to become a vegan finding a place to eat could be difficult - but reception had no problem helping us finding a place and never pushed their own restaurant. In the end we ended eating at their place "The Blue Nile" . I have never had Ethiopian food but it was great and the place ended up filling up for dinner - always a good sign. Next time in Montreal we will opt for Kutuma which means" Welcome". Mehr

We stay in Montreal often and this is our new favorite hotel. Located with easy access to upper and lower St. Denis and a quick walk to St. Laurent. We stayed in the executive suite which was perfectly appointed. The bedroom and bathroom were gorgeous and it was so convenient having a kitchen in our room. Don't miss this gem!

The location of this hotel is not recommended to anyone who would like to walk around the area. I was very nervous going into the hotel and also did not feel comfortable in the room with a back wooden door leading to all other rooms as well as the street leading into the alley. I chose the hotel because there were so many nice reviews about it, but I regret that. Don't get me wrong, there are some nice stuff about this hotel, but not enough for me to go back again on a business trip. First of all, you cannot expect great hotel service in a 9 rooms hotel. The valet is the same person that welcomes you and is the same person […] who serves you breakfast, and does your check out etc ... The fact that there is no parking in the hotel, the valet needs 5 to 10 minutes to go get your car, so meanwhile who attends other guests ? my valet was obviously a newbie but did not admit it. At 8:30 a.m I went to have breakfast and sat by the window, and saw my rented car on the street with a ticket on it. I never asked him to get my car from the parking ! He did not even know that it was forbidden to park there. He promised he will take care of the ticket, but I cannot guarantee that he will, I cannot guarantee he told his manager, etc ... He explained that usually guests leave early and need their car quite early. no comment ! Checking out took ages. he could not print an invoice that I needed for my expenses. He created one from scratch, and had to ask me how much I paid for the room ! Breakfast is great value, $9.50 for a nicely filled plate with omelette, sausage, fruits, croissants and vegetables and juice/coffee. However, breakfast is not served before 8:30 a.m. huh ? Otherwise, rooms are nicely decorated and professionaly refurbished. Mehr

We were delighted with this hotel. The junior suite was spacious and clean. It had modern appointments and the bed was extremely comfortable. The kitchen area was greatly appreciated - microwave, stove, fridge and italian coffee maker. The flat screen tv was great and worked perfectly. The bathroom was beautiful - stone tile, soaking tub and a shower […] that sprayed from nozzles aimed at the body. The staff was nice, honest and very informative. The location cannot be beat! It is on rue St. Denis, surrounded by boutiques, galleries, restaurants and coffee venues. A wonderful brasserie (bakery) is almost next door, serving not only amazing baked goods, but sandwiches, salads and coffee/cappucino. Highy recommend this place! We will be back! Mehr

High concept small hotel. Pluses: 3-room suite: bath big enough for 2 leather wing chairs, 5-foot palm, 2-person jacuzzi, etc.; full kitchen: very stylish: great neighborhood. Minuses: steep, narrow stairway & no elevator; small A/C above the refrigerator & bedroom stayed warm: nice, large flat-screen TV on the bedroom wall but to use the remote, you […] had to straddle a leather chair and hold the remote behind the TV. We prefer a little more functionality but laughed a lot and had a good time. Mehr

We had a great little romantic getaway in one of the luxury suites -- the skylight, leather sofas, jacuzzi, galley kitchen, and giant bed were luxurious touches and the hotel is very private and very quiet. We'll be staying here again.

Great service, ambience and location at a great price!

My wife and I received first class service at the Kotuma Hotel. We arrived very late at the hotel and the clerks at the desk made every effort to make us welcome. We had reservations for a bus tour and a dinner tour the following day and the gentlman at the desk confirmed both reservations for us. The hotel has a restaurant downstairs. When my wife […] and I got up early to begin our tour, the people were very gracious and provided us with a wonderful and colorful breakfast. The room was great, it was clean and well decorated. They had a microwave, a refrigierator, a breakfast table with a white cloth and flowers. The room was very cozy and we were immediately impressed. This is probably the best hotel service we have ever received. We highly recommend it. Mehr

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel Kutuma. It exceeded our expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was ideal - close to shopping and restaurants and only a 15 min walk to Old Montreal. The rooms blew us away. It was by far the nicest room I have stayed in a Canadian Hotel. They are spacious, beautifully and tastefully decorated […] in an African theme. The bathroom was unbelievable. It even had a small kitchenette to fix yourself something to eat if you chose to bring food in. It also featured a small balcony. The rooms even have dimmer switches with numerous potlights for ambience, as well as soft music was playing from the flat screen television on the wall. The only regret is that we could not have stayed longer. It was secure, and quiet. It might be a problem if you have problem with stairs as there is no elevator. If this is the problem, ask for a lower floor. I highly recommend, it was excellent value for the money being one of the less expensive places we checked out. No amenities such as pool, spa etc. but what it has in style and panache makes up for the lack of amenities. 2 enthusiastic thumbs up for Kutuma! We will come again. Mehr

The location was great. We could walk to many places we wanted to visit, including restaurants, but there was also a Metro stop a little over a block away. Room was big, with small kitchen area. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

What else can we say? Beautifully appointed in a quirky kind of way. Extraordinarily comfortable bed. Wonderful, friendly staff gives great service. And the food at Nil Bleu was excellent!

This is a small hotel off a very interesting street in Montreal. Excellent for shopping and dining - off the usual tourist destinations. Don't expect a huge lobby or chrome elevators, just nice clean rooms, pleasant staff and reasonable prices.

We had a great stay at the Hotel Kutuma, highlighted by the friendly service, comfortable bed and sitting area, and the best bathroom. Got there early and was unable to get in to our room. In the meantime, we were treated to a complimentary, delicious cup of coffee. We were able to leave them our luggage and car, and went off to explore the city on […] foot and Metro (stop a bit of a walk, but nothing too bad). When we returned our luggage was in our room. The king sized bed was soooo comfortable, but the highlight was the bathroom. There was a huge deep tub with this great showerhead that adjusted to your height, and side panels featuring additional water jets. Very cool. I can't say enough how nice the proprietor was, and I had a great time wandering around the surrounding neighborhood. In fact a few blocks down there is a street closed to traffic, with numerous bars and restaurants. Mehr

Hotel Kutuma is a jewel on Rue St. Denis. The decor is very pleasant and the room and the entire facility is kept sparkling clean. The staff is very friendly and helpful with everything from unloading the car (he disappeared before I could get the tip money out of my pocket!) to making sure that we had fresh coffee, creamer, sugar and a new litre bottle […] of spring water every day. The bathroom with soaking tub, body shower and waterfall shower was excellent - they even replaced the votive candles around the tub each day! The furnishings are exceedingly comfortable - from the plush bedding to the leather sofa in the sitting area. If you want a comfortable, spacious accomodation in the heart of the coolest street in town (cafes, clubs, restaurants, festivals), Kutuma is the place. Mehr

Aucun mauvais commentaire à dire sur cet hotel. Nous étions au 3 étage, à l'arrière et c'était merveilleusement silencieux! Le lit était très confortable, la chambre d'une beauté exquise, la salle de bain très invitante. Vraiment un hotel remarquable, j'y retournerais volontier à mon prochain séjour!

The hotel was situated in the lively Latin Quartier, close to bars and restaurants. The hotel was nice and decorated with care. The kitchen in the room was well equipped. The only problem was that the hotel was slightly too quiet, we didn't come across any other guests while staying there and the front desk was often empty.

My best hotel experience from US and Canada. Really nice rooms with clean big bathrooms and super cosy beds. Hotel had also really nice restaurant and professional and helpful staff.

Splendido hotel su Plateau, vicino alla Metro, 15 minuti a piedi dal centro. Camera grande con angolo cottura e macchina per il caffè, bagno spazioso con vasca. Ottima pulizia e personale molto gentile. Niente ascensore!
