Das Hotel war super, nur ein paar Stationen bis zur Oxford Circus und dem erstaunlichen Westfield Shopping Center auf der anderen Straßenseite. Große Zimmer mit hervorragender Ausstattung, vor allem sehr ruhig. Das Personal war unglaublich hilfsbereit. Das Hotel hat alles, was man für einen City-Trip nach London braucht. Frühstück nahmen wir nicht in Anspruch, dafür gab es alles nah in der Umgebung. Für Selbstversorger bestens geeignet.

Das Hotel ist der ideale Ausgangspunkt um shoppen in Soho oder essen im Univiertel zu gehn! Auch wenn der Standard für manch deutschen Urlauber viell. etwas zu wünschen übrig lässt - wir kennen kein Hotel, das einem so große Zimmer zur Verfügung stellt! Und das kann ganz schön praktisch sein für Koffer, Shopping etc. Lage ist 1A - in laufweite befinden […] sich Soho (Neil Street, Covent Garden, Leicester Sq) und Oxford Str., British Museum ist praktisch benachbart, genauso wie das Univiertel mit Cafés und Restaurants. All in all: Perfekt für Shopper, Fußgänger und Musicalbesucher. Mehr
"sehr gute Lage"
gutes Hotel im alten Stil, mit Stuckdecke und netter Einrichtung, Nachteile sind die dünnen Fenster, d,h, keine Schalisolierung und kein Fahrstuhl in den 3. Stock, Es gab keine Toilette am Zimmer, es gab nur eine Toilette auf der Etage. im Zimmer Waschbecken und Duschkabine Lage sehr gut, 5 Minuten vom British Museum
"Relativ zentral mit Abstrichen beim Komfort"
Von der Lage her ein gutes Hotel, Sehenswürdigkeiten, Parks und das City Centre sind auch zu Fuß gut erreichbar, Busse halten vor der Tür, zur U-Bahn (Russell Square) braucht man weniger als fünf Minuten. Zugegebenermaßen haben wir relativ spät gebucht (zweieinhalb Wochen vor Reiseantritt), aber für den Preis hätte man etwas mehr Leistung erwarten dürfen: […] Weder Frühstück noch kostenloses Internet waren im Preis enthalten. Die Gemeinschaftstoilette liegt auf dem Gang (~drei Toiletten pro Geschlecht für ~zehn Zimmer auf der Etage), vielleicht haben wir das in der Hotelbeschreibung übersehen? Im Gegenzug dafür hat man eine Dusche im Zimmer, von der man direkt den Teppich betreten kann (schön weich, aber dann eben auch schön nass, da hilft auch das obligatorische Handtuch als Fußabtreter wenig). Die Dusche war nicht sonderlich gepflegt, aber funktionstüchtig. Unser Zimmer war alles in allem groß und ordentlich eingerichtet (TV, Wasserkocher, Bügeleisen). Punktabzug gibt's noch für den Schrank, dessen Verschluss defekt war, so dass eine Tür während der fünf Tage immer offen stand. Beim nächsten Aufenthalt in London werden wir vermutlich etwas weiter außen (und günstiger) wohnen: ein Verwandter (zur gleichen Zeit in London) hatte in einem günstigeren Hotel kostenloses WLAN und Frühstück inklusive nur eine U-Bahn-Station weiter von der Innenstadt entfernt. Fazit: Gute Lage, aber für den Preis etwas zu wenig Leistung. Wer nur zum Schlafen ins Hotel geht und nicht aufs Geld schauen muss, dem ist das Hotel zu empfehlen. Mehr
"Zentral gelegen mit unbefriedigendem Service"
Preiswert und gut geht in Londoner Hotels selten zusammen. So auch hier nicht. Die Preise sind günstig, aber nicht billig und wahrscheinlich auch nicht preiswert. Die Zimmer haben Waschbecken und Dusche (beides im Zimmer, nicht in einem separaten Raum), sehr zugige Sash-Windows und die Toiletten befinden sich auf dem Flur. Die Gardinen starren vor Schmutz […] und auf dem Schreibtisch befinden sich Krümel von Generationen früherer Gäste und als einsames Highlight ein benutzter Zahnstocher (Zimmer 206). Der Bettüberwurf ist verfleckt und versifft, man möchte nicht genau wissen, was darauf schon alles passiert ist. Der Rest des Hotels ist halbwegs akzeptabel, das englische Frühstück gut. Mehr
"Faires Hotel mit gutem Anschluss an die U-Bahn"
Unser Zimmer lagen unter dem Dach, daher recht warm (im Sommer) WC auf dem Gang(war mir nicht bewusst), Männer /Frauen getrennt und pro drei Zimmer eben jene zwei WC. War dann weniger störend als Anfangs gedacht. Zimmer zur Straße recht laut, obwohl es nur eine Nebenstraße ist. Der Anschluss an die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel ist sehr gut, 5 min zu […] Fuß bis U Bahn Holborn, Supermarkt und Restaurants gleich nebenan. Freundlicher Service und saubere Zimmer, wenig verwohnt. Alles in allem eine faire Sache, wir waren zufrieden. Mehr
"Gutes Hotel in zentraler Lage"
Für diesen Preis gab's am Hotel nichts zu bemängeln. Essen haben wir nicht ausprobiert, da man nach fünf Minuten zu Fuß eine Menge verschiedener Möglichkeiten hat zu essen. Von Starbucks bis hin zum leckeren Inder wird alles geboten. Auch die nächste Underground befindet sich nicht weit weg.
"Gutes Hotel zum kleinen Preis"
Das Hotel kostet für Londoner Verhältnisse nicht viel. Dafür logiert man an guter Lage (direkt beim British Museum) und bekommt ein ordentliches Zimmer. Klar, Luxus kann man nicht erwarten, aber für einen Städtetrip ist es genug, denn mehr als schlafen muss man ja nicht.
"Zentral und Günstig"
Zimmer war sauber und in einem guten Zustand. Man ist schnell an allen wichtigen Plätzen und Strassen. Die Tube ist innert 5min zu Fuss gut erreichbar. Sowohl am Tag wie auch in der Nacht sehr ruhig und sicher. Leider gibt es nur Etagen-Toilleten. Jedoch hat es in den Zimmern eine Dusche (klein) und ein Waschbecken mit Spiegel.
"Absolutely giant room and reasonably priced"
Great, quiet location, and an absolutely giant room (300 sq ft). The bed was not that comfortable and breakfast is insanely expensive, but it's walking distance from Covent Garden/Leicester Square and around the corner from the British Museum. For the location, the price can't be beat.

there is a sink and shower in each room, but not toilet! Why? There is no lift either. For the price that is OK, but they should make it clearer in the info. Other than that everyone was very helpful and the rooms good.
"Maybe not Great, but truly Britain"
This hotel put me right where I wanted to be, close to the British Museum. It is a neat and ships-shape place with shower and sink in the room and a toilet down the hall. The staff was excellent and surrounding restaurants were fish and chippy.

"The Lancaster - location isn't quite everything"
I booked at the Lancaster because of its location (3 min. walk from where I was working for three days). It's also, literally, down the street from the British museum and within easy walking distance of Bloomsbury/Soho/Covent Garden bars, restaurants, and shopping. However, I wasn't there to shop or party - so I might be less critical of this hotel […] if I were. The staff was friendly and efficient (though somewhat uninterested/clueless in my query about streets where I could find good food). The room was perfectly clean and quiet, though there are no toilets in the rooms, just sink and shower. What really irked me was that there was no wireless access (not even the kind you pay for). That's basically a deal-breaker for me. I was told that I might be able to get a connection in the tiny lobby (using the neighboring hotel's wireless) for nearly $15/day. I skipped breakfast, as it was over $20. There's plenty of places nearby to eat. Mehr

The company booked the hotel via the web,excellent response and confirmation process. However, up on arriving at the hotel the room booked was not the one I stayed in.Due to an IT error the booking of the room (Queen sized bed) ended being a single bed, not good. The location of this hotel is very convenient, close to tube stops Holborn and Russell Square. Walking distance from Leicester Square and Picadilly Circus. However, the hotel has shared bathrooms, no wi-fi and charges for internet use in the lobby.

Quiet and clean but we were on the third floor and there are no lifts in the building. Room nice and clean with en suite shower but no en suite loo. All floors seem to have six loos (3 male & 3 female) at the back of the building for communal use by the rooms (12) on that floor. All very clean though. Not a great hotel, ok for the price. None of our party had a room with a toilet. Each room also had a shower stuck in the corner of the bedroom? Very strange showering in front of friends in the morning!

The hotel was located in city center and was very clean. This is outstanding. The lack of a elevator and shared toilets were a inconvience. Especially when you are on the 3rd floor. I would stay there again but insist on first floor room.
"glorified hostel"
I don't mind hostels at all but on this stay I'd not planned on being in a hostel. The positives: the bed was comfortable, the front desk attendants tried, I was given a room with a bathroom in it, which was a nice surprise. The negatives: this hotel involves shared baths, the bed blankets are those very pilly sort of fleece ones (I find them to be […] disgusting. I prefer a clean sheet next to my body. The sheets were clean, but the blanket was not wrapped in a sheet), no fridge in room, despite the implication in the listing, the furniture in the room should have been thrown away or refurbished with new pads and stuffing years ago. Just expect a 2-star hotel and you'll probably find this acceptable. Personally, I'd stay in a good, clean hostel before I'd stay here again. Mehr

The unadvertised( as far as I can see) lack of ensuite facilities - namely a lavatory was unexpected and unwelcome!

Convenient and attractive location near British Museum and 10 min walk to the west end. Situated in a quiet street where several other hotels from the Grange group also stand. Only issue we had was that the standard room has no bathroom- instead a shower cubicle right in the corner of the room... Not much privacy and have to step from shower onto […] the carpet, bit odd! This hotel has a great location - walking distance between two stops on the Piccadilly Line, making access to Heathrow and Leicester Square extremely easy. We even walked from Piccadilly back to the hotel and it wasn't terribly far. There are also many park and squares blocks from this location. The hotel was very clean and the room was huge! There […] was a lot of space, but part of that may have been because the bathroom situation was unique - toilets are shared with the floor. The shower and sink are in room, but the shower has no privacy with its glass door. If you are sharing the room with friends/family be prepared for some awkward moments with the shower situation. "The Lancester Hotel in London - not 3 stars"
The second we walked into the hotel, the heat is cranked way up. We went in March of 2011, and it was extremely uncomfortable with the heat. Then the receptionist told us that they got our reservation but it's not showing up in their computer system (?). We waited for 15 minutes while she's trying to figure it out. There was no wifi and the internet […] was charged at a ridiculous price in the hotel lobby. There are also no elevators. So if you're unlucky and happen to be on the second floor (which is two sets of stairs up), you will have to haul your suitcase up yourself (and mine happened to be quite big). The second we walked into our room, we realized there is no toilet. There is a common shared toilet for the floor and it was disgusting. There was pee everywhere, and no hand soap either. I would never ever go back to this hotel. Mehr

It was my fault. I should have looked more closely at the room description. However, at the price I was paying for room only I did expect en suite facilities. A slight hiccup with my booking - they could not find my reservation for quite some time and only a phone call to Hotels.com convinced them that it was there! "Good place to stay on a budget"
The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were always willing to help however they could. Great location, 2 minute walk from the underground and the British Museum. The one thing that thre me off was there wasn't a bathroom in the room. There was a shower cubicle and sink in the room, but the toilets were shared. Although, the toilet "stalls" were […] very large, very clean and has its own basin. I didn't mind the shower, sink toilet set up so it wasn't a problem. "The worst hotel I have stayed I'm afraid"
The hotel is at a good location, very central but location was the only positive. When I checked in I had to get to the 3rd floor with my luggage(no lifts). The room had no bathroom and in fact all rooms was what they described as 'semi-en suite' shower in the room, but no bathroom. That's shared. Never expected that at a hotel rated 3*. I had to pay […] additional charge to be put in an en suite room (about 40% more), which was on the basement. My basement room was hot (no air con) and very noisy. The room was facing a busy street and also admin offices are at the basement and I was woken up by their noisy conversations first thing on Saturday morning. The hotel is not well maintained and wear and tear is obvious everywhere as soon as go go past reception. My advice: avoid it if you can. Mehr

A great location, 10 mins walk to the tube and in a very green, safe location in Bloomsbury close to 2 parks. Our only disappointment was that the hotel had no lift - our room was on the third floor & the flights were steep- and it was incredibly hot. Although the room had a fan, it's position at the top of the hotel and the lack of air conditioning […] left it unbearable in the summer. The room was noticeably hotter than the corridors and bathrooms and was uncomfortable to sleep in. However, the quality and location was so good I would visit again but ask for a room on the ground floor! Mehr

"The Lancaster Hotel and others in the Grange chain"
Very expensive,tiny rooms, no air conditioning,no fan, breakfast outrageously expensive. Corridor floors and bedroom floors have loud creaking floorboards and noisy doors. Some staff are excellent while others do not have a care in the world. We would never stay with this chain again nor recommend them to anyone.

the room had a shower and wash basin but the toliet was at the other end of the corridor. Remarkable when there was more than enough space to fit the toilet in the room. Eveything else was great, location, service etc
"Centralt läge"
Hotellet låg centralt och bra, gångavstånd till Covent Garden och Oxford street. Sköna sängar och stort rum. Toalett i korridor var inga problem. Ett klassiskt engelskt hotell med lite sviktande golv men ändå charmigt.
