"Beautiful historic, but bit loud"
Note for anyone with mobility issues, this is not a disability friendly hotel. I have MS and am still very able to handle stairs, but wanted to point out for anyone with a stair concern, this might not be a good choice. This was a nice stay... not gushing over it and telling everyone to visit. Would suggest it for a weeknight stay, but the place is […] noisey... We had rather rude neighbors who slammed both interior and the exterior hall door to the balcony many many times during the night. We were there for a Valentine / birthday weekend and there was a bad in the ratskeller bar, even on the 2nd floor, we heard the band pretty clearly. One a high note, their cola steak in the restaurant was great and their gelato for dessert was excellent. Mehr
"Needs work"
Hate to give negative reviews but I should be honest given that I often myself depend on traveler reviews on various sites. The good - the location is great. There is a nice restaurant / bar on site, and if you feeling like letting go a fun Rathskellar in the basement. But the rooms! - Well they are small, worn and a bit grungy looking to be honest. […] The sheets were pilled and had a few mysterious stains on them. So no, it's hard to recommend staying here given those conditions. Mehr
I would recommend this hotel to those, who prefer old colonial stile to some elements of comfort. The hotel have no lift and comfortable furniture, but charm of the age (the hotel exist in this building more than 180 years), and very friendly atmosphere and service, compensate this disadvantages.

Courteous staff. Clean and modern rooms. Close to anything (dining/shopping) Frenchtown has to offer.
"Hotel with character"
This place has character. Built in the 1830s there are historical artifacts if you pay attention: distressed pine floors in the looby, antique furniture and seldom a level floor. They remodeled to bring the rooms up to modern standards: tile bathrooms, plaster walls. Although WiFi is available there was no desk. Most of their business is weekend vacationers. […] The bed was nice; easy to drift away. For a guy it satisfied my needs and offered some exploration of the past. But it is not what I would call inviting.
