Ein altes Herrenhaus toll gelegen. Wer sich tolle Zimmer mit toller Ausstattung erwartet ist hier falsch. Aber sie sind sauber und auch das Bad ist super sauber und total in Ordnung. Das Hotel liegt 5 Gehminuten oberhalb der Altstadt und bietet von der Terrasse aus (Frühstück im Freien wenn gewünscht) einen herrlichen Blick über Funchal. Funchal ist […] auch ein optimaler Ausgangspunkt um die Insel zu erkunden. Wir haben uns ein Auto gemietet (Parkplätze sind beim Hotel dabei) und die gesamte Insel erkundet - das Zimmer nutzten wir nur zum Schlafen und zum Duschen und dafür war dieses Hotel einfach perfekt. Schönes Haus mit Charakter an super Lage. Sehr gutes Frühstück.

A very charming old colonial building with a great view from room 7 to the town, coast and the cruiser ships. Good breakfast, excellent personell beyond friendly and helpfull. What I most liked is that the hotel is not at the coast as most tourist bunkers of cement are, about 2 km up the hill away from noisy mass tourism with and individual flair. The advertising of the hotel was highly overrated. We should have had safety box (not), free newspaper (not), bathroom with hand and fix shower (not) hairdryer (not) curtains and lightning remote control (not) kingsize bed (not) the last one it was already noted that MAYBE cannot be guaranteed It was just an old worn room without enything extra. Very […] difficult to find the hotel by car, really long uphill from the citycenter to the hotel There were quite some loose cats hanging around by the pool and the hotel, they were cute otherwise but was not very amusing to note them urinating towards the sun beds, cocacola automat etc... We loved this hotel as it suited us just fine and the price was good value. People charming and helpful,View exceptional and all the facilites we needed. So much nicer than the 5 star nonsense in the lido.We will return.

We love this place particularly for its wonderful views (we upgraded to a room at the front, even the loo has a view to dream of). This return visit as good as the first, but seems to be under new management which is a plus. We'd rate the views streets ahead of Reids which we stayed at a few years ago. We'd go elsewhere for a 5 star luxury megahotel, […] but the Monte Carlo is overwhelmingly for us about its glorious position and the magical view over most of Funchal. Lounge on the terrace with a drink under the umbrellas as the sun sets and all the lights wink on right across Funchal. I was in Madeira from 26-30 April, which is a peak season in Europe. I am glad that I stayed in this hotel. The view from this hotel is magnificent, hotel staff were very helpful, always guided me the directions and recommendations where I should go. Especially the lady there, she was really kind. The breakfast was ok, but good enough at the price. […] My room had a little balcony facing the neighborhood, nice and clean. The only thing I want to complain is the towel. I noticed they did not change it during my 4 nights visit. I suspect that is because I did not put it in the bath tub or leave it on the floor and etc... The slope was terrible, if you have problem with walking, please dont go to this one. However, to me it was ok, cos I am used to walking on the slopes in Madeira & Lisbon's old town. It is good for you after you have had a great meal in the restaurant. Mehr

I really enjoyed my stay here. The room looked exactly like the photos online so dont expect the most modern of comforts but the service was good and the hotel staff was friendly and helpful every step of the way. On the map, it may not seem close to everything, but a short five minute walk downhill and you are right in the center of the old town. […] Granted, getting back to the hotel is a fairly steep uphill walk, but its a short cab ride back. Expect to pay about 25-30 euros from the airport to get to the hotel, but the hotel is pretty good about arranging splitting a cab or car back to the airport for its patrons. I will stay here again my next visit to Funchal. Oh, and if you can afford the sea view rooms, take it, its worth it. Mehr

Dette er en eldre herskapsbolig på en av Funchals fineste utsiktstomter som ble omgjort til hotell på -60tallet. Litt slitt i malingen, men med rene rom og meget hyggelig betjening. Absolutt å anbefale! Her kan du sitte på do og samtidig se cruisebåtene ankre opp om morgenen. Det er gangavstand til alle attraksjoner i byen, men man må akseptere litt […] bratte bakker! Mehr

Hotell Monte Carlo ligger nydelig til med utsikt over Funchal sentrum. Hotellet består av to bygninger, hovedbygningen og en mindre bygning i bakkant. Hvorvidt du ender opp med en fantastisk utsikt eller en beklemmende kjellerfølelse avhenger av hvor ditt rom befinner seg. Vi bodde i bygget bak og fikk oppgradert oss fra et rått og mørkt kjellerrom […] til et med balkong og nydelig utsikt over byen. Personalet var vennlig og imøtekommende. Frokosten var god. Hotellets beliggenhet er ypperlig, såfremst du ikke er redd for 5 minutter motbakke opp mot hotellet. Og 5 minutter er det du trenger for å komme ned midt i sentrum. Daglig rengjøring, men ikke av gulv de 14 dager vi var der. Tregt avløp fra vasken, og beklageligvis en tidvis odør av kloakk. 40 toms plasma viste seg å være 14 toms boks-tv. Ingen hårføner. Ønsker du rom med utsikt og eventuelt balkong må du være konkret i bestillinga. Er du sensitiv overfor lukter er muligens ikke bygningen i bakkant av hovedhuset plassen for deg. I hovedsak var vi fornøyd med oppholdet og hadde vi kunnet hadde vi tatt med oss balkong + utsikt hjem.... Mehr

Enkelt , greit billighotell. Savnet lite kjøleskap på rommet. Kunne enkelt blitt ett praktfult lite hotell i gammel stil med riktig gjennomført interiør design.

Es un hotel bonito, aunque a nosotros nos alojaron en un anexo más normalito al lado del edificio principal. Eso sí, nos dieron un apartamento grande con cocina y todo. Las vistas son preciosas, al precio de tener que subir cuestas para volver al hotel. Está en el centro de Funchal mismo, no en la zona hotelera de Lido, la cual a mí personalmente me […] parece demasiado artificial, hecha expresamente para turistas. El personal del hotel es muy amable y atento, y nos ayudaron a planificar y reservar excursiones, recomendarnos restaurantes, etc. Nosotros volveríamos a este hotel y lo recomendamos, si buscaís un hotel bonito a buen precio, sin lujos.
