Great location, few streets away from the Circumvesuviana train station, (train to Napoli, Pompeii, and other cities) and like 5 minutes away from the marina were you can take the ferry to: Positano, Capri, schia, Amalfi) totally convenient. They have a swimming pool area really nice, they rooms are big, simple decor, and very clean, has everything […] you need. My favorite was the breakfast, is in a huge room, and had a lot of variety and great presentation. Service very attentive, and the waiters were really nice as well. Reception area was very informative, and helped me out with all the questions and provided me with maps. the pictures on the hotels.com don't make justice... the view from that hotel is awesome. everything that we were hoping for on our 4 night romantic getaway. Very nice breakfast buffet. Great location, short walk to town and all ferries to Capri, Ischia, Naples. Staff was friendly and helpful, view of the bay was great. we even had a swim in the Mediterranen from the hotels private beach deck and swim platform. The staff are all lovely, the breakfast buffet is one of the best we have seen - plenty of fresh fruit, someone preparing omlettes for you to order, endless cakes and pastries. The rooms are very nice and this deserves it's 4.5 stars - way superior to other 4 star hotels in Sorrento. Lift down to the sea really is a long way down but nice to have direct […] access even though not a beach but a jetty to step into the sea and some sun chairs and a bar. Mehr

Fantastic hotel, perfect location. Excellent cuisine. Friendly and helpful staff. this was my second time to stay in this hotel and I will make a return visit at some future date.

Beautiful hotel located in a great town. Beautiful views from the hotel overlooking the cliffs with Mt Vesuvius in the background. Easy access to public transportation & ferries to travel around the region for day trips. Great breakfast buffet ... yumm. If we go back to the area, we definitely would stay here again.

Hotel was fine, staff very friendly, but not so helpful on the surrounding area or helping us book activities.

A truly fantastic Hotel set in a position perfect to appreciate the outstanding beauty of the Italian Coast. Just a small stroll along the cobbled pavements to the main square where the restraunts are in abundance, filled with atmosphere and life. 5 mons walk to the port where theres easy access to Capri or Amalfi etc. To sum up Perfect location, 10 […] out of 10 service, great food, nice pool, private raised terrace with access to the sea. Downsides a little expensive, but this applies to southern Italaly in general. We will be returning Awsome place. Mehr

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It was better than I expected. We upgraded to a water view and it was amazing! Mt Vesuvius is located accross the bay of Naples and Capri can be seen in the distance. The location was perfect. 3 minute walk to the middle of town and all of the streets are lined with lemon trees. The staff was very helpful […] and always friendly. We have stayed in 5 star hotels all over the world and this staff is up there with the best of them. Make sure to try Restaurant O’Parrucchiano which is owned by the same family as the hotel. Great spot for a romantic dinner. What a fantastic way to end our 2 week journey through Italy. Mehr

We were expecting more, on the level of service,as we booked the hotel on a five star standard, and paid for the high price of the seaview room.The setting is picturesque with large terrace overlooking the sea. Breakfast is average.Needs a little walk ,10 mins.to the town center.

We stayed at the Hotel Royal for 3 nights in late March and had a wonderful time. The hotel is located on a high cliff overlooking the Mediterranean and is walking distance from the train station, shopping, restaurants and the ferry to Capri, Amalfi, and Naples. The public rooms of the hotel are beautiful with tiled floors, large windows and comfortable […] gatheriing areas. I read that street view rooms could be noisy, so we chose a room with a full ocean view and balcony. The view was spectacular overlooking the pool, gardens, and across the bay to Naples. Our room came with a breakfast in the dining room which we enjoyed each morning. Our trip was at the beginning of the season and the hotel was not crowded. The staff was friendly and always helpful with restaurant suggestions and information about ferries and expeditions to the Amalfi Coast etc. Mehr

Perfect for a stay in Sorrento. 5 minutes walk from the centre; lift down to hotel terrace and decking at sea level; friendly staff; clean, spacious, bright and peaceful. Our only complaint was not with the hotel but with the taxis that service it: they try to charge exorbitant, almost extortionate, fares for stone's throw journeys. We sat into one […] with our luggage loaded as we were leaving for the train/bus station (only 4 mins walk) and were shocked at what we were quoted when we asked for an estimate. The Grand Hotel is a lovely hotel. The staff were first class and so was their breakfast. The location was nice and central also.

A Charming New hotel very well designed l facing the charming view of the gulf of sorrento , a wonderful staff and a nice room as well as a garden facing the sea, there is nothing to criticize .......PERFECTO

We arrived in Napels and took the local bus (very nice tour bus no stops; straight to Sorento) for 10.00 euro. The taxi would have cost us 120.00 euro! The bus is 20 feet outside the door of the airport!! Very easy. The bus stops in Soranto Train Station and a 5 minute walk to the Hotel.. Straight shot. So we walked to the hotel. (taxis were all taken) […] The hotel is located just outside the hart of the city. Very nice, Europe so the rooms are small but very nice. Bathroom has all you need! (hair-dryer!) When we booked the hotel the rooms on the sea-side were booked. The front is loud but they have air so we kept our window door closed. If we go back we would only stay in a room facing the water. Breakfast is good. (again you are in Europe: lots of meat/cheese) Pool is nice but we came to see Sorento/ Positano/ Pompie etc so we only spent time in the pool late afternoons. Take city busses ... they get you everywhere for very little money. We did take a tour to Pompeii (golden tours) and was very interesting! We walked to the top of Vesuvius. Nice walk beautiful views.Took the boat to Capri and walked to center. Nice walk but you have to be in shape! We also went to Almalfi. (Went with bus to Positano and took boat to Almalfi) Beautiful little town, make sure you visit the Cathederal. Sorento: Lots of nice places to eat at night. Don't eat at the hotel but for breakfast. The food at night so so, very pricy but worst of all: the dinning room is far from cozy! (bright lights etc) The place I enjoyed most: La Basilica. Great food, outside very cozy, good service. I had the pistacio dessert the BEST!! Overall: a busy place, pretty sides. Night all the small stores are open and lots of places to eat outside. Enjoy, Dorrit Mehr

The hotel is extremely well placed (approx 400 m to the centre of Sorrento and approx 150 m directly from the front of the railway station - useful for all journeys as driving in this part of Italy is a nightmare) in a relatively quiet road positioned on cliffs overlooking the bay. The rooms are very clean and you are well looked after. Service was […] excellent at all times of night and day, especially at the bar where your favourite drink (which was never forgotten after first ordering it) which was very welcome after a long days sightseeing. If possible go over the easter weekend as the religious parades, which are held each night and sometimes at 6 am, pass directly in front of the hotel. These are wonderful to see (even if you are not religious) - the rooms facing the road are far the best for this. We had a wonderful time Mehr

The hotel was very high quality. Facilities were clean and pleasant. The restaurant was reasonable and the food was good quality. We were disappointed that our room was on the main road which made it noisy on the balcony. Also for a four star we would have expected some evening entertainment but there was none even though we were there for the week […] end! Mehr

Very beautiful location with spectacular gardens and views of the sea. With that said, there were real issues with mosquitos in all areas including the hotel public spaces inside and out since most areas are open to the gardens.

Stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon. It was very very good. Room was beautiful. The service was excellent. Staff were very efficient and very polite and also very eager to help with our enquiries. The room was very clean and there was always a chambermaid on the corridor or nearby to ensure we were happy with our room. The breakfast was excellent […] and had lots to eat. The pool was lovely but we felt it should be cleaned very often as we often saw kids get sick in the pool.. Overall we were very happy and would love to go back there again. Mehr

We opened the shades and had the most amazing view of the water. The hotel was just down the street from the main square and a walk down the hill to the ferry. The breakfast was the best of any we had in Italy. We only wish we would have stayed longer than 2 days. We were sad to leave.

The Royal is a terrific hotel. The staff are attentive, without overfawning and the location is probably the best in Sorrento. We had a sea view and if you are able to, it's definitely worth paying a little extra. There is plentiful seating by the pool and also the private beach.

The hotel is gorgeous: it has amazing views of the sea and the bay, beautiful facilities, very professional staff, fantastically convenient location a few minutes walk from the centre of Sorrento.... There is a swimming pool but it is much more romantic to sit on the hotel's private sundeck at the bottom of the rock cliff with its own jetty for swimming […] in the sea. Great excuse to wear your most glam swim suit. The whole place is very elegant: the breakfast room is very classy and the young beautiful Italian women look perfectly appropriate in high heels and short beach dresses as the waiting staff dress in creamy suits. Truly gorgeous. Get out into the town though for meals and entertainment - the whole point of going to Sorrento is to sit in the outdoor restaurants and cafes in the squares and enjoy the passing streetlife. Mehr

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Royal for a week from 6th June 09. Perfect location and lovely hotel with very good service. Our classic room was beautifully furnish and spotlessly clean too. Only small grievance is the overlooking the garden description was stretching it as this was to the side and we overlooked the main front road. (excellent soundproofing […] from this though and great blackout blinds) I would certainly stay at this hotel again. Mehr

Kjempe bra service og super beliggenhet. Egen strandbrygge med heis direkte fra hotell terassen. Og strandhåndklær til disp. Supert hotell på alle måter!

L'avis porte sur un séjour de 9 jours. Personnel trés accueillant et compétent. Hotel trés agréable,trés bien tenu, salles, salons, jardin,terrasse, piscine trés bien. . Bien situé;accés en qq minutes à pied à la gare, au port, en centre ville .Superbe panorama sur mer et Vésuve. Bonne nourriture,bon service : notre séjour était sans demi pension.Notre […] avis porte donc seulement sur les repas à la carte. Animations musicales de qualité (à peu prés 1 jour sur 2) Remarques: la piscine ferme un peu trop tôt . Pas de tennis.Pas de spa. .Excellent séjour. Bon rapport qualité-prix Mehr

Ett fint hotell med exeptionellt bra läge och underbar utsikt över Neapelbukten. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. God service och vänligt bemötande. Vi tillbringade en underbar vecka i maj på Royal och jag kan varmt rekomendera hotellet.

Flott hotel, med en fantastisk beliggenhet, gå avstand til alt. Hyggelig betjening. Her kommer vi gjerne igjen.

Perfect location for a stay in Sorrento, all within walking distance. We especially enjoyed the pier by the sea. The internet service is however a joke.

Veldig bra hotell med fantastisk utsikt over Napoli bukten. Bodd her to ganger og veldig fornøyd begge gangene. Servicen er upåklagelig og alle er veldig hjelpsomme og bilde. Egen badebrygge med gratis solstoler og håndklær. Kan anbefales!!!

Mycket trevligt hotell, bra service och hjälpsam personal. Stort fint rum med stor balkong. Utsikt mot staden eller mot trädgård/hav mot pristillägg. Jättebra frukost med fantastisk service. Kan absolut rekommenderas.

Ett fantastiskt läge med både hav och pool. Dock urusel mat på hotellet! Ät inte där på kvällen i denna stora, kalla restaurant med noll känsla. Sorrento stad hade inte så mycket att bjuda på tyckte vi, så vi var väldigt glada för poolen och de härliga bryggorna vi havet. Detta var vårt sista stopp på vår Amalfi"turné" så vi var ganska nöjda på turistlivet. […] Fanns tydligen flera bra restauranger i området och vi hade nöjet att få besöka en av dem den andra kvällen. Tres bel hotel, bien situe par rapport au centre ville et au port maritime. Magnifique terrasse et jardin, avec une vue a couper le souffle sur le golfe de Naples et le Vesuve. Petit dejeuner complet et varie. Personnel chaleureux, accueillant et disponible. Chambre spacieuse et propre. Excellent rapport qualite/prix. Hotel que je recommande.

Great location, great beach and pool facilities (For beeing sorrento) old worls glamour and though most of the guests older we enjoyed ourself Royal here beeing 30 something.
