Hotel was superb & the staff in the hotel couldn't do enough for you. Excellent value for money & we had dinner in the hotel for the three nights we stayed & the food was excellent.

My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Pillo for 3 nights over the Easter weekend. From the moment we spoke to the girl at reception when we arrived to the minute we left everything was great.The staff,predominately Irish, were excellent.Nothing was too much for them.They were lovely to talk to and helpful.Food was excellent that we didn't eat out at […] all as it was reasonably priced. An American chef which was unusual but he was very chatty and helpful. The bar and waiting staff were lovely and friendly.We had a king size bed and single bed in the room,small fridge,tea&coffee facilities,safe and lovely bathroom.The hotel is about a 15mins stroll and 10 euro in a taxi from the city centre.It was easy to access from the main motorway and great to go a drive to the Connemara area.I've already recommended it to everyone that will listen to me and we'll definitely go back. The Pillo is a lovely hotel on the inside and there is nothing wrong with the outside but the photo on the websites are very misleading. They make it look like the hotel in out on its own however it is in a retail park basically,with its own adjoining petrol station and furniture. It won't bother you but knowing might help you find it better. What I […] mean by my title is that although it is a big 4* hotel, everything apart from the rooms seems small, the lobby,bar and restaurant. Also I've had better breakfasts,not the largest variety. Other than those minor things, the staff are pleasant and helpful and you are pretty close to every thing, and the price was very reasonable for a 4*. Mehr

On arrival to the Pillo Hotel, it is situated very close to city centre which was great. We checked in around 4pm (myself and my partner) and were given the run down of times of breakfast etc... by reception staff. On arrival to our room, 1 of our key cards did not work so we had to get it changed. Room was clean + tidy. Lighting very poor in room. […] There were more lights in the bathroom than in main room. Had been told on booking our room online that we would have a king sized bed but turned out we ended up with 2 doubles in the room. Dropped our bags off & headed for some lunch in the bar. We ordered a starter + main course. Then decided to get a drink with them. I ordered a bottle of beer to find that it was out of date. When asked could I change it the bar man then realised that there was a fridge full of gone off beer (the type I ordered). No one ever apologised to me for this, instead I just had to order a different type! When our starter came out (it was served quite quickly). My partner ordered soup but had to ask for cutlery and butter for the bread.... It took about 25 mins for our main course to be served to us then. Food was nice but the wait no so nice! There were about 6 bar staff on duty but they all seemed to not like working under pressure! 1 man in particular was giving out to the bar manager to "just leave the bar" as there seemed to be a bit of tension between them all. Very unprofessional by both the bar manager and staff. It was busy in the bar but not busy enough for staff to be "nit-picking" amoungst themselves! After that we went for a shower before going out. Bath towels were very very small (they were more like hand towels). There were no shower caps and then only 1 shampoo + 1 shower gel between both of us. Luckily we had our own but there should have been more provided. Fridge was not working either as we had a bottle of water with us just to keep cool. I'd gladly stay here again when in Galway. 15 minute walk to Eyre Square, 5 minute walk to the nearby cinemas. Food in the hotel was nice. Service was very good. Booked this hotel because it had a spa as a treat for herself as it was her birthday. I didn't know I needed to have booked this in advance. Mid-week I thought she could get something that […] day or the following day. Booked solid for 3 days. But can't blame anyone but myself for that. Very easy to get to. Mehr

If you are in the area you are probably going to the Bushmills Distillery and/or the Giant's Causeway. The hotel is very close to both (under 3 miles) but not in the Bushmills City Centre (which was ok with me). The owner is friendly and funny...if you can understand him because his accent is so thick. The bar and dinning room are authentic, clean […] and inviting. Some locals came by for a drink while we were there so that was fun. The guestroom was sparse with little amenities, but we were not there for luxury or functionality. The room was very well heated and there was plenty of hot water - our two major concerns going in. I would definitely stay here again if in Bushmills. Mehr

We had a lovely one night stay, very welcoming staff ' wonderful breakfast. The spa was superb.

very comfortable, very helpful staff, our car broke down and they helped us to find a garage. food is great, very clean and the spa is very relaxing! highly recommended.

Had a 2 night stay over the weekend. Lovely staff, beautiful hotel, nice big clean room, great bar, fantastic breakfasts! Nothing bad to say at all!

Very nice hotel, clean, comfortable, high quality bedlinen (so soft!), free parking, good breakfast, did not have any issues at all. The fridge was not working in our room, but we did not need it anyway. 10-15 min walk to the city centre, and a big shopping centre nearby. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay there.

Very Clean and spacious bedrooms. Gorgeous spa. Great Customer Service. Food delicious and not too pricey

Overall this was a pretty good hotel. Good value with excellent staff and food. Let down slightly by not having wifi in rooms.

Booked this hotel last minute for an overnight visit to Galway, was impressed with the room and service and would stay here again.

Great location, staff were brilliantly helpful - even when asked for room service 6 hours before it started they were more than willing to do this. Would definatly stay again.

Stayed here for New Years. The hotel is very close to eyre square, we didn't walk in at night (it was raining!) but it probably would have taken about 10/15mins, a taxi cost €9. There is a free underground car park which was very good. The hotel itself was grand, breakfast wasn't the nicest but it was ok. Only downside was when checking out (we had […] late check out) we were rung in the room to see where we were as usual check out is 12 despite confirming late check out with the same girl when checking in! The best weekend ever! We have stayed here 5 time's now in the past 2mths as it was to far to keep traveling home to Do.negal after radiotherapy treatment 5days a week.This last weekend the gave us a free upgrade to a suite!!! Many thanks and well done.Happy Christmas to all the staff

Had lovely comfy beds and pillows with underground parking.

I stayed at the Pillo hotel recently. I got a disabled room which had a bathroom which had no bath. The room itself was very big which might have been fine if the heat was working. I noticed there were two plug in heaters left in the room and the receptionist said they were having problems with the heating system. I slept in my clothes that night as […] there were no extra clothes on the bed. Mehr

We arrived before the check in time on Saturday but were checked in straight away. Once checked in we had a couple of drinks in the bar, then walked into town. It's about a 20min walk to Eyre Square so it's not too far out. Breakfast was a hot buffet and there was a good selection. We picked this hotel because it was substantially cheaper than staying […] in the city centre, had free parking and had gotten better reviews. We would definitely stay here again. Mehr

Excellent service, friendly team, close to city centre, well maintained

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and room very comfortable. Pity about the filling station in the front of Hotel. However there is a shop at the station. Short walk to city centre. I would recommend this hotel.

Myself and my son stayed on the night of the 28th of November 2011 for an overnight stay, I will point out the good first of all, the staff that we met were friendly and professional and although breakfast was not included in the price we paid just over €17 for two delicious breakfasts, I'm afraid that ends the good part and even though my complaint […] is centred on only my room it disappointed me a lot, firstly I had asked for a smoking room and I wasn't given one and it didn't look like the hotel was heavily booked, the T.V in the room had to have been 10 - 15 yrs old with blown speakers two of the lights weren't working, the uht milk was gone off, four light switches didn't work, but my biggest gripe is that the room was so dusty it actually affected my breathing during the night every surface was covered in it and it most certainly wasn't dust that could have built up in a week or even two, I'm guessing that the room hadn't been touched scince it was last occupied sometime ago, for that reason I would not consider staying in the pillo hotel again. I sent my parents here and they had a ball. Rooms and bar fab- staff very friendly . Great location and they loved the breakfast. We will all be visiting again soon

Caters to the business traveler. Good restaurant with reasonable prices. Wi-fi only in public areas such as lobby and restaurant, not available in room. Free parking.

Really nice hotel with easy parking and only a 10/15 minute walk right into the downtown area. There's also a mall and Tesco next door in case you want to pick up snacks before heading out on an Ireland road trip.

Pluses: Nice common areas - high quality fit-out. Staff friendly and good service in restaurant in the mornings. Curable Minuses: Room was tired looking, fridge not working 100% and de- clutch button missing from shower temp. control.I assume the plan is to do-up the rooms in the near future to match the standard of the common areas.

We would recommend the hotel to others, but with a warning about noise levels from roof mounted mechanical plant. The mechanicial plant starts at 6am and runs until approx 11pm and can be heard in all courtyard facing rooms. The alternative is a room overlooking one the roads on either side of the hotel. The hotel cannot offer any quiet rooms, that […] are not affected by the roof mechanical plant or the adjacent traffic. Mehr

My wife and I stayed at the pillo hotel for 3 nights and found the room very spacious and clean. It is quite far from thecity probably a 20 min walk so not ideal if u do not have transport but we did and there is free parking at the hotel which is a bonus. We only had breakfast 1 morning and it was ok. Staff were very polite and helpful so cant fault […] the hotel at all. Mehr

We have stayed in this hotel about 6 times & will be back AGAIN. The beds are SOOOOOOOOOOOO comfy, the parking is free, the bar is good & the breakfast is worth getting up for.

This is a lovely hotel,very clean and comfortable.My only problem is that i felt it didnt cater for families very well.I booked a family room for 4 but only 2 towels, 1 shampoo, 1 shower gel between 4 of us!Also at both breakfast and dinner we were seated at a table set for 2 and had to ask for extra cutlery for the children.lovely hotel just attention […] to detail could be improved.
