Barrio Latino Hotel - Playa del Carmen

Das Hotel liegt zentral, nur 2 Blöcke von der 5th Avenida, dennoch ruhig zum Schlafen. Die Zimmer sind gut ausgestattet mit Hängematte auf dem Balkon. Unter dem Palapa Dach war schön zu sitzen, aber leider gab es kaum etwas zu Frühstücken, alles ist genau abgezählt, entweder Conflakes ODER Croisssant.

PROS: - Location is great. Very close to restaurants, beach, and shopping. - Very affordable - We never felt unsafe. There is someone at the front desk 24 hrs a day. Also, each room has it's own security box, where we left our passports and credit cards safely stowed during our stay. -Very friendly staff. -Option of no air-conditioning, minimizing cost. […] If you like sleeping with just a fan (like us), this is a pro. Otherwise, it might be a con. -Free wi-fi, and one communal computer. -Free breakfast. Nothing fancy, but it's still convenient! CONS: - Noise. The surrounding restaurants play music until late at night. If you are a light sleeper, this could be a problem. We solved it by leaving the fan on, which drowned out the noise substantially. - Funny bathroom smell. Don't know what it was, but it smelled strange, despite looking clean. Overall, we liked the general ambiance of the laid back hotel, and would definitely stay there again! Mehr

I would recommend this hotel to everyone. Local, German and Italian resturants located near by. The staff was excellent. The hotel was clean. This little hotel has great location, two blocks from the beach and one block from 5th ave. Quiet and clean, with very helpful and friendly staff. Would book it again!

Good value hotel that is easy to find and is close to all amenities and places of interest. Very clean, friendly and accomodating. Some gorgeous "resident" dogs make everyone welcome and often accompany you to your door. Bathrooms are great - spacious and clean with ample shower room. Only thing is missing a full length mirror and found the cereal […] OR a bread roll, coffee OR tea with only one free refill on the coffee a little odd at the continental style breakfast in the morning. Barrio Latino was just a few blocks from the 5th ave which was nice because all the action, including the beach and ferry to Cozumel was within a short 5-10 min. walks but you were far enough away the commostion from 5th ave didn't keep you up at night. We stayed there for 10 days, and had zero complaints. The hotel itsself was small but very presentable, […] rooms were very clean, the contintental breakast was simple but good, and the dogs made nice company. Also the Manager was very very helpful with any and all questions we had, He even helped me when I had problems with a local company. If you are expecting a huge resort with all the luxuries ie. being able to flush toilet paper down the toilet, this hotel probably isn't for you but if you are just looking for a nice clean place to stay for a very affordable price i would say this is your place!! Great little place, excellent location, local information readily shared by recpetion. The light continental breakfast enough to start the day. Don't be greedy and expect more as I have seen some try.

Near 5th Ave. in Playa del Carmen, bungalow style, cute property, amenities were sparse, breakfast was included but only coffee and muffin, not a hearty breakfast by any means. Bed was uncomfortable and very hard, same with pillows.

TERIBLE is the only word I need to describe this hotel. Why? Well, actually the first impression was a good one, hotel is located close to the center and is well decorated. The positive impression vanished quite quickly. For me hotel is more than just a building with a room to spend a night. A good hotel should give you the feeling that you are welcome. […] No such thing in Barrio latino. Service was awful. The staff does not feel necessary to give you any explanation for anything. Example 1: You will be requested to leave the keys for YOUR car at the reception. Asking why you should satisfy with a "such are the rules of the hotel". I know that they need to have the opportunity to rearrange the cars if necessary. But why not telling me in a plain text. Example 2: My girl got sick. I have got some medicine with me which needs to be dissolved in boiling water. I went first to the bar (it was luckily breakfast time, and I knew they offer tea), explained the urgency and asked politely for hot water. All I got was a "no", of course with no explanation why. First I thought the guy did not understood how serious the situation was. After another explanation I was forwarded with another "no" to the reception. At the reception I was told that it is against the law to give me boiling water. My assumptions: In Mexico there are some quite stupid laws or he was expecting me to give him something. After some discussion the guy eventually broke the law and brought me water, thank god. For the next glass of hot water I preferred just to use the hairdryer than to make people to get into trouble with the authorities. I found that if you hold the hairdryer close to the glass you get sufficiently hot water in less than an hour. From now on I counted the days till departure and just stopped paying attention to the quite noisy facilities surrounding the hotel, the minutes you spend under the shower waiting for the hot water to arrive or even the look of the guy at the bar during the breakfast Mehr

A friend and I stayed at the Barrio Latino for 5 days in January. I travel a lot and have stayed in many hotels and the B.L had definite pros and cons. The pros: the hotel staff were very nice and accommodating. I asked a lot of questions and everyone I spoke to was helpful. The complimentary breakfast was standard-bread, coffee, juice but there was […] free wi-fi and free calls to most countries. The hotel was 2 short blocks to 5th avenue with loads of restaurants & shops and 3 blocks to the beach. The surrounding neighborhood also had a lot of eateries if you are interested in going off the beaten path. The cons: the beds were a bit hard, definitely not sleep number as advertised and for the first two days our bathroom smelled of sewage. The hotel did their best to take care of the smell but I'm not sure if it was the fault of the hotel or Mexico's plumbing system. Overall, this hotel was fine. The rooms aren't huge, they aren't fancy, there is no t.v. but if you are going out all day and using it as a base at night it is all you need. If you are looking for a hotel to lounge around in, you might want to go somewhere else. Mehr

We stayed here for three weeks, whilst taking spanish lessons. The hotel is close to the beach and to cheap places to eat. If you want upmarket restaurants and bars it is also close to Quinta, the main touristy street. We spent 5 nights at Barrio Latino and loved it! I nice quiet hotel with friendly helpful staff. The location is perfect with a nice little juice shop across the street, and a convenience store down the street. The beach and pedestrian mall are just a few minutes walk away. Friendly staff. Quaint, colorful rooms. All of the rooms are the same, but you pay a little more for some to use AC and the hotel safe.

It was close to the beach and shopping/restaurant area. Free Breakfeast, parking and wireless internet, and a hammock on our own porch. The Staff was very friendly.

Very clean ,quiet location off the main strip. Close enough for the walk to the beach, far enough to be sheltered from the noise. Curtious staff with courtyard shaded enough to relax from the heat on supplied hammocks. Light breakfast to ease you into the morning. Other extra services a very nice touch.

The hotel is right in the centre of the town. 5 minutes walk from the bus station & 2 mins to the town centre. The rooms are very comfortable & the beds are clean & comfortable too. Restaurants & bars opposite hotel. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. The hotel also offers free wifi & free use of a PC from 8am - 8pm. They also have a 'Skype Telephone' […] & offer free long distance international calls to 'landlines' from 8am - 8pm. A great hotel in the centre of everything. Mehr

This is a lovely hotel which is well located in Playa del Carmen. It was all the key things you want from a budget hotel (that is not to understate that it is a great value option), it was clean, comfortable, well located and great staff (plus the two dogs). I have seen some complaints, most seemed to be, minor things and likely due to expectations […] of a full 4-5 star hotel which this is not. Not sure why you would want that if you were in Playa del Carmen anyway, you won't spend large chunks of time in your room. Overall a great hotel, value for money choice. A great find in PdC. Mehr

Fantastic location. Room was a little small and dark, but otherwise fine. loved the hammock in the porch. Staff was incredibly helpful. And the free Internet phone calls were a godsend when we had credit card trouble to straighten out.Great location.And the two spaniels are real sweethearts.

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They kept my luggage even after check-out so I could explore the beach and market even though I only stayed one night. The complimentary breakfast was good with GREAT coffee. Enclosed courtyard is very pretty. Nice quaint little hotel with very friendly and professional staff. If you like dogs, you will adore the 2 resident cocker spaniels. The hotel is just a block away from the main walking street. Now for the not so good: The basic room does not have any air conditioning, not even a fan. Sleeping in hot weather can be difficult. Plus, the beds are extremely […] firm and uncomfortable. It is a good place to stay and we enjoyed it. However, if we return we will choose a regular room rather than the caribbean room. It is not as large as it looked in the photos and it is right next to the linen closet on one side and the dryer on the other where the vent blows on to the little porch with the hammock. If you know to expect a smaller boutique hotel, you'll be plenty happy. I found it odd that you have to leave your room key at the front desk when you leave, then ask for it when you return. The location is convenient, especially if you're coming and going on the ADO bus or the collectivos. The room was very well cleaned, but mine was typical Mexican […] style, small, with an older tile bathroom. The A/C worked well. Alojarnos en Barrio Latino fue una experiencia positiva gracias a la excelente calidad de su servicio y a su estrategica ubicación en el centro de Playa del Carmen, a pocos metros de la 5ta Avn y de las playas. El dueño del hotel tiene muy poco interes en brindar un buen servicio y genera mucha presion en los huspedes, existen requisitos de invitados increiblemente absurdos

El personal es muy amable. El hotel es muy limpio y queda cerca de la playa.

Il est vrai que l'hotel est situé dans le centre de playa del carmen et donc à proximité de toutes les animations. Mais comme playa est devenue une boite de nuit à ciel ouvert, ceci est un véritable inconvénient pour tous les hotels se trouvant proche de la quinta. Le barrio n'est absolument pas insonnorisé donc il est très difficile voire impossible […] de dormir avant 1h du matin (à cause du restaurant accolé à l'hotel) et 4 ou 5 h quand il y a des fetes dans les hotels ou les boites de la quinta, c'est à dire du mercredi au samedi. La literie est excellente avec des lits immenses et confortables et l'hotel est joliment décoré. Par contre, les serviettes ne sont pas changées tous les jours, le petit déjeuné est rationné (une personne est présente et note sur un cahier ce que l'on prend de façon à ce que l'on ne se resserve pas, et durant tout le séjour, il a fallu choisir entre céréale ou café et une portion de confiture sauf le dernier jour ou bizarrement le patron était la et nous a dit que l'on pouvait tout prendre). C'est pourquoi je pense que les employés doivent se servir, mais ce n'est qu'une hypothèse. Il y avait des odeurs dans la salle de bain au début lorsque l'on mettait de l'eau et la douche gouttait toute la nuit. Mais c'est une chambre qui est tout au bout de l'hotel et qui n'est peut etre pas représentative de l'hotel mais on a demandé a changer pour etre le plus loin possible du bruit. Internet est en acces libre avec un seul ordinateur qui n'est utilisable que le soir à partir de 17h jusqu'a 22h. Le personnel de journee n'est pas tres agreable ni tres souriant à l'inverse du personnel du soir qui lui est tres avenant et tres souriant. Bref, c'est un hotel ou je ne retournerai pas meme si je suis conscient qu'il ya pire sur playa. Mehr

O hotel é extremamente bem localizado, próximo a praia, a rodoviária e ao local de onde partem as vans para as regiões próximas. O ponto negativo é o café da manhà que é fraco e controladíssimo 1 pão ou cereal, café ou chá (1 xícara)! Não fosse isso, seria perfeito.

Siisti ja kaikinpuolin viihtyisä hotelli, huoneet kauniit ja ihana viidakkopuutarha. Mutta: mannermainen aamiainen surkea, kahvi + makea pulla Tai muroja. Meluisa ravintola takana, hotellissa ei äänieristystä. Hintansa väärtti kuitenkin!

questo grazioso b&b è situato in una posizione assolutamente perfetta pechè vicinissimo alla fermata degli autobus,alla quinta avenida e soprattutto alla spiaggia!! il personale è sempre cortese sorridente e disponibile il giardino dove si fa colazione è meraviglioso come i colori dell'albergo.. la colazione non è molto abbondante e alcuni particolari […] delle camere sarebbero da cambiare,come le maniglie,gli asciugamani o i vari rubinetti ma i letti sono comodissimi e la pulizia sufficiente il rapporto qualità-prezzo formidabile!!!!!!!!!!!
