The Touchstone Hotel - San Francisco

Das Touchstone befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe zum Union Square und somit fast Mitten im Geschehen, was Einkaufen, Kino, Cable Car usw. angeht. Auch die Anbindung zu anderen öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln ist super. Allerdings liegt das Hotel direkt an einer großen, stark befahrenen Straße (Geary Street) und obwohl wir ein Zimmer nach hinten raus […] hatten, waren die Nächte sehr laut, da auch die geschlossenen Fenster den Lärm nicht abhalten konnten. Unser Zimmer war ganz okay, die Wände waren allerdings etwas abgenutzt und es gab keine Klimaanlage (Ventilator vorhanden). Das Hotelpersonal war sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Frühstücken kann man direkt nebenan bei David's, wo man als Gast des Touchstones 25% Rabatt erhält. Mehr

Im ersten Zimmer war die Toilettenspülung defekt, im Ersatzzimmer lief am ersten Abend die viel zu kleine Heizung erst ab 19h, am zweiten Abend war sie defekt. Der herbeigeschaffte Radiator war lächerlich klein und veranstaltete einen solchen Lärm, daß ich ihn abstellte und lieber die Kälte in Kauf nahm. Für die Lage (mitten in Downtown, alles in Laufweite) […] kann das Hotel nichts, außerdem gibt es gerade in diesem Teil der Stadt jede Menge Hotels, so daß es ein leichtes sein dürfte, ein besseres zu finden. Fazit: von diesem Hotel sollte man besser die Finger lassen. Mehr

This was the ideal hotel for my stay: happy employees, clean room, located near everything.

Me and my girlfriend stayed for a couple of nights. I booked it solely based on good hotels.com reviews and I am happy I did. The room was nice and clean and had everything I needed. We were both happy with the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negatives: - The shower was quite weak, a drizzle at best. This was the most annoying […] thing with the stay. - The outside street is quite noisy. Not really the hotels' fault though. - The central Union Square area has quite a few homeless and beggars. Again not really the hotels fault, but keep it in mind if you're going to book anything in this area. Apart from that, everything else was great, and a good value for money. Would come back again, but I'd make sure the shower in my next room had more power in it. Mehr

The position is very central, 2 blocks away from Union square, and the staff was nice and helpful. The hotel looks old but i don't have any particular complain.

Good location - close to Union Square shopping. Staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older and the hallways and doors need paint but the room was clean and nice. I would stay here again.

The hotel is fairly small, but overall a very good stay. I had an issue the first night with street noise, but they were very accommodating and found a room in the back of the hotel for me. It's very close to some good Union Square locations, and not in any kind of bad neighborhood. The check-in lady was very nice and they held my bags for the day […] after I checked out. Recommended. I was very pleased. Great location, good value. The staff was friendly. The room was basic but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small. Wi-fi available but I never use public wi-fi so they had two landline computers available also. The only drawback was our room faced the back alley which was very noisy, with employees from the restaurant next […] door on break late at night, car alarms, etc. Mehr

This may have been a nice hotel at one time but it desperately needs removation. The carpets are stained and worn, the paint is scraped and dirty, the windows in our room were filthy and cracked, there's no air conditioning or fans, no coffe in rooms or lobby. Very modern hotel decor with a fantastic location walking distance to lots! The staff was very friendly with great extras. Just be aware Ruby Sky is close by so weekends can be loud on the street, not the hotels fault

This hotel was really a gem. Older, a little noisy and creaky, but clean, nice, and the staff was really nice and friendly. For the price and the location, this little hotel is really fantastic! So close to everything, including the BART, it really is just a a great hotel! Having an entrance into David's Deli was an added bonus. The food was great, […] and just a classic deli. Everything about the stay was just great, and I would totally stay here again and have already recommended the hotel to several friends. Mehr

Good hotel but rooms on geary street are awfully noisy with homeless people shouting at night.

Staff were friendly and helpful. After check out they'll keep your cases and order you an airport shuttle (good price). Hotel is located 2 minutes walk from Union Square and shops galore, including the tour buses and is about 10/15 minutes walk from the BART, so perfectly located. The hotel itself could do with a revamp as it's looking abit outdated […] but was clean, comfortable, friendly and welcoming. My room was the "Petite" room which was small but perfect for me (who needs all that space when on holiday). The two downfalls (if I have to say them) were that there was no window view (just an outside corridor, yet on a postive this meant I had a quiet room) and the smell of cooked food emanating from a nearby restaurant which did fill the room quite often. The city itself, well you get what you make of it, I felt safe as a loan female traveller but common sense prevails (have a map and don't stray too much). The staff at the hotel are more than happy to sugget where to go and where to avoid. I would recommend both the hotel and SF to friends and I would definitely stay again. I often see reviews from hotels in this part of SF that complain about small rooms, low water pressure, street noise, etc. Come on people! This is downtown SF! If you don't want to spend 3 times as much for a luxury room, this is a great hotel for the money. There is a good deli downstairs, and tens of great restaurants in the surrounding blocks. Great location, well furnished and maintained, and very clean. But don't accept a room with a window on Geary. Made up of the denizens of the nearby hostels and the congregation of street people, the cacophonous choir makes sleep impossible.

While the staff was friendly, gracious and super helpful in every way they could be, this place is one of those places that good for sleeping and not much else. Nice internet cubbie for free internet but no mini-frig. in room (Extra Change) and no Ice machine readily accessible. Also if your rooms faces out to the rear of the bldg. there's a hostel […] adjacent which had kids being loud at times. The Hotel is next door to a deli and I swear (I have a good nose) I could smell that corned beef smell from my room on the third floor. But great location for exploring San Francisco and very reasonable priced. I'd give it 2.70 Stars out of 5.... Mehr

this is the first time I have decided I had to write about my experience. While I paid for two nights I left after just one night. The room was very dirty and extremely small. The elevator was broken. General upkeep of the place is not acceptable.

Bed is bed is comfortable, bathroom is adiquite Room is very small and not alot of space to move around when you have bags in the room. Breakfast in the nextstore dinner is handy(hotel have us vouchers) San Fran has alot of beggers and its just normal in this area, most are fine, they just looking for your dollar!!!

Convenient location. I like being near Union Square. The room was small, however it met my needs as a single traveler. It would not be satisfactory if my wife was traveling with me. My one disappointment is the bathroom. It was small. The sink was poorly designed, too small and did not meet my expectations.

Simple hotel on a very nice location.

A hotel with all you could want (albeit without the useless extra space you often find in more expensive hotels). Service was good and everything I needed was there - particularly helpful was the use of an internet-enabled computer near the lobby, as many hotels just provide wi-fi, which is no use if you are not travelling with a laptop. Great location, […] beside most of the other hotels in the area (watch out for the drug-addicts, but it is not closer to these than any of the other fancier hotels in the area. Great value for money. I stay in SF for business almost every week and have enjoyed trying different hotels in the Union Square neighborhood. Each has had good and a few not so good points but this place is awful. In fact, this is the first time I have decided I had to write about my experience. While the room seemed pretty clean the hallways were threadbare and dirty. One […] set of curtains in my room were falling off the rod and after the front desk had closed I discovered that my toilet was not getting any water - so it would not flush. While I paid for two nights I left after just one night. While checking out I mentioned the broken toilet and that I would only stay in the place one night but the fellow at the desk couldn't have cared less. As others have mentioned the street noise is VERY loud but I understand that is beyond the control of the hotel, general upkeep of the place is not. Mehr

This place is not fancy, but a great place for the price. Very clean room, close to Market St, Theaters, and Union Square. Again the rooms are a bit small, however to date this has been the best stay yet, and will book again in the future.

This hotel is located on a very safe and nice block on Geary st. close to Union Square. This alone was fantastic for me for the price. A beautiful graceful lady, Martina, who was at the reception the next morning was very pleasant, personable, gracious, and so helpful. The service she provided to me was beyond what we normally receive at conceirge […] of larger hotel. It turned out that she and her husband own the hotel. I left the hotel with such warm feelings. I will definately go back and will recommend to my friends. Mehr

The location was good. The staff was great. In the summer, thate's no AC and I think there are only heaters in the winter. Towel heaters were a nice touch. There was lots of street noise if you had to leave the windows open

I would recommend the hotel for the location - very close to Union Square. They should have better arrangement/prices with the parking system and offer better breakfast options. They should also put darker curtains in the room, since there is no shades.

For the low price, the hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff friendly. Better than most 2 star hotels. Yes, the room is small, but it has a bed, closet, iron, and bathroom. Our room was quiet and we couldn't hear any other guests. Great location- only blocks from Union Square shopping and BART. Their adjoining restaurant, however, had poor service […] in the dining room and the food wasn't that great. Overall, I would recommend Touchstone for young couples looking for an inexpensive but safe and clean place to stay. Mehr

I booked a queen room but the hotel had overbooked them, so I got a double queen with a perfect street view. The windows opened so the room was always fresh. Combined with this, the beds were comfy so I got amazingly good sleep (much is due to the perfect San Fran weather). The staff was always friendly, and even got a 25% discount coupon for the diner […] they own downstairs. For what a want a in a room, they had almost everything (missing a mini-fridge). The amenities are not much, its just a bed, desk, bathroom, and worthless TV (who cares, I dont watch TV). Best of all, the location is super nice.. in the middle of Union Square so you can walk around in this central area, or easily hop on a bus (or take a cab) anywhere in the city. Mehr

Lets face it. Hotel pics always make the property shine. But in this case, the hallway was a bit dirtier and room a bit more worn than the pics indicated. That said, the location is fantastic and value terrific. If it was a glam hotel, it woudl cost $250/night. If you want that, stay at the St Francis up the road. Instead, I stayed here, then had coffee […] and worked from the lobby of the St. Francis!! Mehr

Globallement content du séjour, chambre un peu petite mais propre et confortable ! Le breakfast n'étant pas compris, il y en a un juste en bas de l'hôtel sur lequel on a 25% sur l'addition et ils font des bons plats "américains"

Vi hade hyrbil som de tog hand om och parkerade i ett garage, mycket smidigt. Rummen är väldigt små och slitna. Städerskan tog i sönder en av våra resväskor och trots tillsägelse om detta blev vi inte kompenserade utan bara lovade att bli mailade av "chefen". Det kom aldrig något mail. Annars var det bra, läget var perfekt.
