Das Hotel liegt in der Geary St. ein paar Blocks vom Union Square. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im zweiten Stockwerk im Mittelgang, was den großen Vorteil hat, dass man den Straßenlärm nicht mitbekommt, sondern nur den gelegentlichen Lärm den andere Gäste verursachen. Die Zimmer haben nur ein kleines Fenster mit einem wenig schönen Ausblick auf den Innenhof. Das Continental Breakfast besteht aus Kaffee, Toast m. Butter u. Marmelade, O- bzw. Apfelsaft u. einem Stück Obst. Problematisch ist die Parkplatzsituation, da gleich vor der Haustür eine Bushaltestelle ist und ansonsten i.d.R. nur Parkplätze für Kurzparker vorhanden sind. Das Hotel bietet für 30 $ p. Tag einen Valetparkservice an, d.h. es kommt jemand u. parkt das Auto irgendwo, was sehr gut funktioniert hat. Das Hotel liegt zwar in der Nähe des Unionsquare aber auch sehr dicht am Tenderloin Bezirk, den man vor allem Nachts meiden sollte. Insgesamt kann ich das Hotel vom Preis - Leistungsverhältnis weiter empfehlen!

Sehr zu empfehlen bei einen Zwischenstop nach Hawaii.Sauber, geräumig, Airport-Shuttle, freundliches Personal, guter Preis.
Lage
Chelsea Motor Inn in San Francisco befindet sich in Strandnähe sowie in der Nähe von: Mexican Museum, Allyne Park und Marina Green. Nicht weit entfernt befinden sich: Palace of Fine Arts und Lombard Street.
Ausstattung
Ein kostenloser Highspeed-Internetzugang (W-LAN und Kabel) steht in den öffentlichen Bereichen zur Verfügung. Das Hotelpersonal hilft Ihnen gerne bei allen Fragen weiter. An Fisherman's Wharf sonnen sich Seelöwen bei den Geschäften am Pier 39. Nicht weit davon entfernt repräsentiert eine Schokoladenfabrik am Ghirardelli Square das süße Leben. Vom Pier 33 fahren Schiffe nach Alcatraz, und vom Coit Tower auf dem Telegraph Hill kann man die Stadt und die Golden Gate Bridge sehen. In der berühmten Buchhandlung City Lights in North Beach dreht sich alles um Literatur. Das Herz dieser historischen italienischen Enklave ist der Washington Square Park.

Parkplatz kostenlos vorhanden. Liegt direkt an der Straße zur Golden Gate Bridge, daher entsprechender Verkehr. Kneipen in der Nebenstraße, also auch Lärm von der anderen Seite. Zu Fuß ca. 45 Min bis Pier 39 oder Innenstadt. Kein Frühstück. Alles in allem okay, man sollte aber die öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel nutzen.

Nettes Hotel,liegt sehr zentral an einer stark befahrenen Straße. Sauber und gepflegt. .Am Wochenende,durch die vielen Lokale in der Nähe, sehr laut . Parkplätze kostenfrei vorhanden. Gute Anbindung auch mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmittel.. Würde es wieder buchen.
"Jederzeit wieder"
Das Chelsea Motor Inn liegt in einer sicheren Gegend mit vielen Restaurants, Kneipen und kleinen Geschäften im näheren Umfeld (Chestnut, Fillmore und Union Street). Es liegt zwar auch an der stark befahrenen 6-spurigen Lombard, die sich aber allenfalls im früh einsetzenden Berufsverkehr störend auswirkt. Die Lage ist ideal für einen San Francisco Aufenthalt […] mit Auto. Zum einen ist man schnell auf den Ausfallstrassen (insbesondere zur Golden Gate Brücke) zum anderen ist man mit gleich mehreren Buslinien rasch im Zentrum oder am Fisherman's wharf (wer 30-40 Minuten seines San Francisco Aufenthalt opfert kann zu letzteren auch laufen). Es gibt allerdings keine Mehrtagesfahrkarten für die Verkehrsbetriebe, sondern nur einzeltickets (Betrag muss passend sein) in unmittelbarer Nähe zu kaufen. Das beste ist jedoch die Tiefgarage ohne Zusatzkosten!! und die können in SF sehr teuer sein. Die Zimmer sind sehr sauber und groß. Ich konnte von unserem Fenster sogar die Pfeiler der Golden Gate Brigde sehen. Auch das Bad war sauber und geräumig. Der Zimmerservice war einwandfrei. Mehr
"Würde ich wieder buchen"
Das Hotel liegt zentral, man kann vieles zu Fuß erkunden. Personal war freundlich, unser Zimmer sauber und komfortabel. Auto konnte man kostenfrei in der Tiefgarage abstellen, was wir sehr begrüßten. - Es gab nichts zu beanstanden und wir würden hier wieder buchen.

Das Hotel steht dort, wo San Francisco lebt.... Bars und Restaurant in der unmittelbaren Nähe des Hotels werden besonders am Fr und Sa von vielen jungen Leuten aus SF besucht. Das Hotel steht unweit des Meers, wo man Sicht auf Alcatraz hat. Die Gegend um das Hotel zeichnet sich durch Einfamilienhäuser der gehobenen Mittelklasse aus. Das Hotel ist klein, eigentlich nichts besonderes aber super Lage an der Lombard Street, viele Cafes und Restaurants. Alles sauber und der Service war 1a! Wir vielen Tipps an der Rezeption bekommen. Das Parken ist kostenlos.

Das CHELSEA MOTOR INN liegt an der stark frequentierten Lombard Street. Lärm von der Straße konnten wir aber keinen wahrnehmen. Die Zimmer sind schon etwas älter, aber sehr groß, mit Holzmöbeln und sehr sauber. Gleich in der Nähe ist ein Bus mit dem man zu Fisherman's Wharf, etc. kommt. "Inexpensive but you get what you pay for"
The street noise is very very loud. In the evening I would crack my windows to get a nice breeze and it was fun to listen to the noise of the city and people having fun at the bar 25 feet away but when I needed to go to sleep I had to turn on my Sleep Machine as loud as it would go and the room fan on max to drown out enough of the street noise even […] with my windows closed to go to sleep. The front desk folks were very pleasant and they have parking a hot commodity in San Francisco. The room was adequate for my needs I was gone most of the time but the hotel is run down a bit and the street noise is huge. Bring your noise maker and you will be fine. Mehr

"Chelsea Inn in San Francisco"
A friend and I recently spent 5 days at the Chelsea Inn. The weather was great and so was the hotel. The only downside was the loud partying outside the hotel on Sunday night until the early morning. When I made a comment about it to the desk clerk, he said it was even louder on Friday evening. Bars are able to stay open until 2:00 a.m. and people roam […] about the streets yelling and nothing can be done about it. The rest of the stay there were no problems. We were able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf in about 20 minutes. We would leave in the morning and come back to a clean room in the afternoon. The hotel is also on several bus routes which we were able to take to Chinatown and other venues of the city. This is a great place to stay during the week - but if you are not a sound sleeper on Fridays and Saturdays the noise may keep you awake. Mehr
Good location. The hotel is very easy to get in and out of. Check in is right next to garage where you drive in and park. . . then you just take elevator up to your floor. Everything was very clean and attractive in the room.

Easy to get to Golden Gate, etc. as well as lots of nearby shopping, restaurants and night life. "The Chelsea Motor Inn in SF - good location"
Great parking, room was clean and staff was friendly. The location was great to catch the bus and walk around the Cow Hollow area. Lots of restaurants and clubs. The only drawback was that we stayed Friday-Sunday and there was LOUD LIVE music in the club across the street until 1am. (note, the marquee on that club read it was closing down at the end […] of the month...so the sound might not be an issue). We would recommend this place. Mehr

Overall, a good place to stay with a few caveats: Positive: - Parking was included! There was limited space in the garage beneath the hotel, but we found a spot without issue. This was a great perk considering the usual cost of parking downtown and the seeming lack of open street parking around. - Big room - Great location. It looks fine, but some exposed sharpness made for a painful surprise for my girlfriend's foot. - Decent bit of street noise through our window (though it sounds from reviews like this may depend on which side of the hotel you get). - The top sheet stretched over the mattress didn't quite go all the way to the foot of the bed, exposing some uncomfortable mattress to our toes at night. The motel itself was fine, but the street noise was unbearable. I couldn't sleep for two nights! I would not recommend staying here on Friday or Saturday nights when the Fillmore and Marina area bars are in full swing if you want to get a restful night's sleep.

This is a well-worn motel. The common areas, furniture, and fixtures appeared ready for rennovation. It's in a noisy part of town, and while we were on the side facing an alley rather than the side facing Lombard, we could hear noises outside much of the night. "Quality stay at a great price"
The hotel was nothing fancy or luxury but the staff was super friendly, the room was clean and well taken care of, and the location was close to everything! The elevator was a bit crazy but it was working. Next trip to the area I will certainly book this hotel again without hesitation!

"Large rooms, but out of date"
I almost always stay at this motor lodge (or one of its sister lodgings nearby). The location is superb, parking is included, and the rooms are large. However, in over 5 years of my routine stays, the only change has been an increase in the daily rate, the rooms have not been updated. The decor is exactly the same, the bedding is exactly the same, and […] I think even the televisions are exactly the same ones that were in the rooms when I visit visited in 2006. It seems that because this lodging is almost always full, the management sees no necessity in making improvements or even cleaning the dust covers and bedspreads. The hotel was old but seemed pretty clean. Parking is limited (but free) and no refrig or microwave in room. Also no pool for the kids. Overall, our stay was nice but I would check other hotels before booking this place again.

This has always been my favorite stay in San Francisco, because of free parking on site and ease of walking or catching the bus. This hotel was everything we expected. Nice big room with lots of storage space and a really comfortable bed. The internet connection was fast and reliable. The room even had a safe! We chose an interior to get away ffrom the noise from lombard street which is the main hiway through SF.

A nice hotel in a reasonably good location, this hotel would benefit greatly from double-glazing of the windows, especially on the rooms facing the street. Traffic noise goes all night and the club opposite plays loud music till very late. Great location if you have a car, as free parking is a premium. Not too far from Fisherman's Wharf, within walking distance. Good location for all amenities. Very good hotel, clean, comfortable and friendly.
This was a lovely hotel. It was not as close to the wharf as I had hoped, but the manager explained local bus lines quite thoroughly. Many reviews mentioned noisy nights, so we took earplugs. If there was a problem, they took care of it. I would recommend the hotel and stay there again if I found myself in San Francisco.

Found myself "stuck" in San Francisco because of missed airline connections (weather). No hotel vacancies adjacent to the airport (it was 9:00pm and there were several conventions going on). Hotels.com agent arranged this for me, and it was like an oasis in the desert. Hotel staff made my unexpected stay very acceptable. comfortable beds, c lean and no nonsense. only negative is that the area is very noisy with city traffic, but many people consider that to be a good thing. one of the few hotels in the area that offers parking at no additional cost, as well.
This is a great hotel in the Marina District in San Francisco. Clean, Safe, Great Location and free parking! We stay here every time we come to the City.
