"Sehr gute Wahl - empfehlenswert"Bewertet von Christine S aus "Zürich, Schweiz" am 22. Dez. 2011
Dez. 2011
Sehr freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal.

Good hotel, very well located less than one block from Copacabana beach and very close to Ipanema beach. Very good if the time to go around is not that much.
"An okay, reasonably priced choice"
Rooms are small but serviceable. Good breakfast and convenient location. We paid extra for a room with a partial ocean view.... but the window glass was so fogged that we could barely see out of it... and the fogging couldn't be wiped off because it was between the glass panes. So I would advise against getting an ocean-view room.
"Very friendly English-speaking staff"
This hotel is nicely located between Ipanema and Copacabana, and is only a block from the beach. Very easy to get to all the sites from here. The staff are extremely nice and friendly and all speak _very_ good English. They offered me plenty of recommendations on the best way to approach certain sites. The hotel itself is on an unassuming street and […] many of the cabbies didn't know where it was. It's neighbors and backdoor neighbors are not especially pleasant, but there is not much the hotel can do about this. There are ATMs across the street and a nice cafe nearby. The continental breakfast is superb--plenty of fresh fruits, good pastries, juices, etc. The internet is very fast (bring a cable--but if you don't, they will loan you one). The water pressure in the showers is god-like! Minor issues: While the hotel staff is very helpful, the busboys don't know any English, and some of your requests get jumbled up in the staff/busboy/taxi driver chain. Some of the views out of the windows are quite unpleasant. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Mehr
"great mid priced place in rio"
Close to the beach, metro and other sights. Restaurants our few unless you want to walk 10 minutes.
"Close to Copacabana beach"
Good location. Be aware that one of the large slums is close so be careful of your belongings as you walk outside. Room as small as expected, bit overpriced. The service was good.
"Old fashioned but in a good location"
typical 60's style 3 star hotel, looking a bit dated. The pool was more like a large bathtub but when you are this close to Copacabana beach why would you bother with the pool anyway? Excellent breakfast buffet with a good variety of fruit, cereals and cooked varieties. My single room was a little pokey with a view of a wall. Close to restaurants, bars […] and shops and a 2 minute walk to the beach Mehr
"Good Place in Copacabana"
The staff were excellent and helpful. The hotel is in a great location near the beach and in between Copacabana and Ipanema, which is nice. Two complaints I had, were the room had a window 1 foot from the next building (not uncommon in Copacabana but the other places I stayed for around the same price all had windows looking at least to the street. […] And the wifi doesn't work in the rooms. It is 2012, so that should be more basic than a TV. You can't be any more than three starts without it. Mehr
"Good location- close to beaches and transportation"
We were looking for a few days in Rio to enjoy sun and the sea and go to the most important sights in Rio. Th hotel hadd an ideal location to accomplish this. Compared to other hotels in Rio it gave us good value for the money. Friendly staff and good breakfast should be mentioned in particuar.
"Windsor Martinique was Great"
We had aa very positive experience. English-speaking was a plus. Buffet breakfast superb with many selections of fruit (cherries, mango, papaya, pineapple, etc.) meat, breads, drinks, cheeses, desserts. Front desk handle all the issues we had. Chairs and umbrellas available to take to the beach which was very close. Door men and staff very accommodating. […] Internet was reliable and fast.. All-in-all, it was a perfect experience which we will remember. Mehr
"A good value stay"
We stayed here for 2 nights, the rooms were on the small side, but they were clean and well kept, they offer the basic bathroom amenities, but every one commented on how good the water pressure was! The room included the buffet breakfast, it was basic, nothing to write home about, but no one went hungry. The hotel is located in Copacabana, but it´s […] really near Ipanema and you feel safe (I know there are lots of concerns regarding security in Rio), even walking at night. The staff is helpful and friendly. Mehr
"Noise from neighboring rooms and hallway"
The hotel is good and a 3-4 star hotel, considering its prime location, except for the amount of noise heard from other rooms during the one night of our stay. Very little insulation from noise and conversations, tv, music, door closings and bathroom use were very loud from midnight to 3:30am when we had to get up for our flight. As far as I could tell, […] to avoid this amount of disturbance, one would have to be lucky to have quiet neighbors who slept the same hours. People want different things from their hotel, but the ability to sleep if one wants is pretty critical for me and I would not stay here again. Mehr

"smells"
The hotel has a relatively good location. Did not mention the pool was not working, but it is not a big loss anyway. Biggest problem is that the room smelled like urine. The staff was nice and the breakfast ok.
"Windsor Martinique was wonderful"
It was at the right place and the right price! The hotel staff was extremely accomodating and went out their way to make our stay very pleasant. They spoke excellent English and their restaurant breakfasts were very good...we were not disappointed!

"Great location"
We stayed at the Windsor Martinique for three nights, and we were ver satisfied and pleased with everything about the hotel. It is in copacabana but it is very close to ipanema, a short walk. The Breakfast was very good with a wide variety. The only think I did not like is they would not allow me to take a cup of coffee to my room....which I like doing […] before eating breakfast. Ask for the shuttle to airport as they provide it for much less than a taxi! Mehr
Small room with view of the inside of an ugly an enclosed "courtyard". The "courtyard" was the back side of all the buildings going around the block with a sheet metal roof about one story up from the ground. Room was clean. Reception was efficient and hotel was able to handle special request to have a late checkout time (did cost an extra half day […] for six hours). Breakfast buffet was very good. Hotel is one block from Atlantic Avenue and the beach. Mehr

"Good location and helpful staff"
This hotel is very central to Copacabana and is very clean and tidy. The breakfast and hotel roof top are nice. The best thing about this hotel is the friendly and very helpful staff - they made our stay in Brazil hassle-free.
"Windsor Martinique Hotel in Rio"
When I searched hotels in Rio on the Internet, I found most of the hotels near the beaches to be very expensive. So when I found this one for about one third of the cost, I was somewhat worried. Much to my surprise, it was a very good hotel and hotel experience. The staff spoke very good English and was outstanding. They were so accomodating too. We […] were able to check in early and were able to store our luggage the next day when we wanted to stay in the area after check out. They made arrangements for a car to take us to the pier and later to the airport. (Yes there was a cost for those rides, but no additional cost for the hotel to make the arrangements.) The included breakfast buffet was very good, with eggs, bacon, waffles, fruits, pastries, breads, juices, coffee, etc. Most of the mainfloors were made of granite, as were the bathrooms in the guest rooms. The floors in guest room had Pergo-like imitation wood floors. The rooms varied in sized depending where they were located in the hotel. I stayed here twice while in Brazil and could see the beach from both "superior" rooms. They were not large, but they were very clean. We had a king bed. It wasn't the softest bed I've ever stayed in, but it was fine, so no complaints here. I slept well. The room was quiet, but I'm not sure if I had any neighbors, so I don't know how sound proof the walls are. Plenty of closet and dresser space, but they need to make better accomodations for those of us living out of suitcases... not much room to store them opened. By the way, the windows can be opened, so if you want fresh air, you can have it... bu the A/C works fine. The pool is located on the top floor (8th) along with some tables and chairs. The temperature seemed to be a little cooler up there (not sure why, it's not that high), and you can see part of Copacabana beach from there. The pool itself is tiny... about 12ft by 9 ft. (or 4 meters by 3 meters) so don't even think about swimming laps in it. I didn't go in but it Mehr
"Windsor Martinique, Rio de Janeiro"
Great Location, steps from the beach. Very pleasant hotel, friendly & helpful staff
"we would stay again in this hotel!!!!"
Everyrhing was excellent. The location was amazing. The bed wasn't great and if you stay at the rear of the building the view is terrible but we were not in the room enough to worry about that. The beakfast was great and all in all the location was safe and fun. Most of the staff is very friendly and helpful except for one woman who had an attitude […] on the last day. Would definately recomend this hotel to any couple looking to enjoy time together in Copacabana. Mehr

"Windsor Martinique- Block from the beach"
The hotel is located in the Copacabana neighborhood and is only a block away from the favela! It has gone through major renovation and still in the process. Hotel was neat and clean. The rooms were clean and all have gone through remodeling with granite countertops sink and new shower heads. The room we stayed was very small and packed. Almost most […] of the them have no view. It's perfect place if you just want to get out and no to be pampered. Would I stay again? No! The neighborhood, service, amenities were not up to par. Mehr
"Great Place"
The hotel was good, clean, comfortable and only 1/2 block from the beach. The staff was exceptionally helpful. Frelipe, Lucas, Julianna, and Rafela and others help make my trip complete with great recommendations, suggestions and reservations.
"Would stay again"
The staff is great. I don't think you can go wrong with this place. It's about 1/2 a block from the beach.
"Hotel Martinique-Close to Copacabana Beach"
The location and the staff were great. They were helpful, the room was always clean.
Ideal location for all Rio attractions. Rooms clean & comfortable, Hotel staff friendly, helpful and good standard of spoken English

"Windsor martinique - Excellent staff"
From check in to check out the staff were very helpful and always attended ti requests efficiently and promptly. The breakfast was very good and there was always plenty food and choice even near 10.30 when breakfast finishes. The location was also very good with many shops, beaches, bars etc close at hand. The room was a little bit dated but very […] clean and had a good range of extras i.e. free safe deposit box, reasonably priced mini bar etc etc. The only thing i could make any complaint about was the television. The set itself was old and the remote control hardly worked. The range of channels was also poor. However having said that i had plenty better things to be doing than sitting watching TV as Rio is obviously a very lively city with something for everyone. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a basic room at a good rate with good staff and service. Mehr
"Love, love, loved the hotel and their staff"
I took my daughter for her high school graduation celebration. From the moment we arrived the front desk staff were nice, polite and friendly. We had a room with a king size bed and the room size was perfect not a lot of drawer storage but they had a built in armoire to hang clothes up with a safe inside for valuables, a TV and small fridge. They do […] have English stations about 3 to what movies or a couple of American shows but I did not go to Rio to watch TV so that was not an issue for us. The room is air conditioned and it starts up with your room card key and turns off and the light also when you remove your card key when you leave, they are very eco-friendly, I loved that. The bathroom was a good size no tub but I don't like tubs anyway. The location of the hotel couldn't be better. It is on a side street 1/2 a block from Copacabana Beach. The street is nicely lined with big bushy trees. 1/2 block the other way is the main street which has all the shopping, restaurants, cafes, banks you will ever need and I want to point out that at all times, my daughter and I felt very safe anywhere we went, people were trying to frighten us before we left, but not once did we feel threatened walking the streets or beaches. There are police kiosks up and down the beach and patrol cars in the city, but quite frankly no one was interested in us at all. Buses and taxis run up and down the main street constantly so you never have to wait more than 2-3 min for a ride. The best way to get around is by taxi and the hotel staff will take care of flagging one for you - taxis in Rio do not take tips, whatever it says on the meter is what you pay, I guess you could give a tip if you want but it is not common practice. The hotel is located at the south end of Copacabana Beach just a 15-20 min. walk to Ipanema Beach, but quite frankly Copacabana had more action and was much nicer than Ipanema. Every night along Copacabana Beach from 6-9pm there is an art and craft festival where you can bu Mehr
"Windsor Martinique Hotel in Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL"
The receptionists were very good. the breakfast was included with my daily rate.
Need to improve the TV service, more english channels such as FOX News. Needs business center. Needs improved gym.
"Excellent accomodations and perfect location!"
Great price for the location and overall accommadations! Paid an extra $100 for a place in Leblon, but would prefer this place, no doubt. What a breakfast spread as well, was treating like a king! TV could have been a little bigger, but there was much more to do than sit in the room and watch TV! :)
"The Windsor Martinque exceeded our expectations"
The location and price cannot be beat. We would stay here agin without hesitation. Staff was super, breakfast was excellent. Near to both beaches.
"Hotel in Copacabana"
The price of this hotel should be half of what I paid.
Great Hotel for the price. Rooms a little stuffy, TV not very clear, checkout quick and easy, great front desk staff, fantastice breakfast, thanks for the beach towels.
"Windsor Martinique Hotel, Rio"
The Hotel is located just a block from Copocabana Beach and also just a 10 minute walk to Ipanema Beach. The hotel staff was very helpful with information on where to go, directions, etc... The rooms were very clean and teh breakfast was excellent.
"resonable hotel in Copacabana"
We stayed here 2 separate times. The first time, the room was pretty small, but the second time it was a little bigger. We didn't spend much time in the room so that wasn't really a problem. It had A/C, but the thermostat wouldn't go as low as we wanted so it was a little warm sleeping at night. Overall, it was a good place in Copacobana, the staff […] was really helpful and spoke English. We would stay here again. Mehr
"Good location almost on the beachfront"
Friendly staff who were very helpful. Small oddly designed rooms with little outlook. Reasonable breakfast with fresh fruit etc.
"The Windsor Martinique-Good Value for Rio"
The Windsor Martinique gives good value in a city with a lot of expensive and often not very good hotels. Its located at the Ipanema end of Copacabana, but is cheaper than hotels in Ipanema or Leblon. The rooms are comfortable and modern and have free internet (using an ethernet cable- bring your own cable). Breakfasts are very good and included in […] the room cost. The hotel is half a block from the beach and also close to many bus routes that can take you to all the sights such as Sugarloaf, the Rio Sul Shopping Mall as well as across to Ipanema and Leblon. The metro runs to Copacabana but the nearest station is some distance away, so buses are better. There are always taxis passing as well. The main street near the hotel has a number of quite good kilo restaurants, banks and a supermarket. Note though that there is an entrance to a favela half a block up the street away from the beach. "Windsor Martinique - Copacabana Beach Brazil"
We stayed at the Windsor Martinique prior to embarking on a cruise--from the Port of Rio. We chose this hotel, mainly based on location and price. We were extremely pleased with the location, the accommodations and the friendliness of the hotel personnel. Also, the breakfast (which was included in the hotel price) was absolutely fantastic! It was a […] buffet--lots of fruits, cereals, and the usual bacon, eggs, etc. The dining room was very nice; waiter personnel extremely efficient. Also, I took my laptop with me and was very pleased that the wireless internet was not only free, but worked very fast. Overall, our stay was a very pleasant experience; and we want to go back again! "Truly good bet for your money"
I was at Copacabana during Dec 2009. Weather was a bit rainy, but I enjoyed the trip a lot. I selected the hotel based on reviews on this web page and price of the hotel. This hotel sticked positively out.. And I even got raised to business class when I arrived to the hotel, while I had reserved normal room. Hotel location is two edged sword, as most […] of the placed in Rio. It's 50m to Copacabana, but it's also 150m to the first favella. However, the favella exit was really heavily guarded by police, especially night time. More over, the part of beach where this hotel locates is described as beach of favella people.. Anyhow, I had any security problems during my 2 week stay in Rio, so cannot comment about how safe or dangerous Rio or this particular location is.. Hotel staff was really helpful, informative and polite. Felt embarrassed sometimes, while haven't used to so polite and fancy treatment :) Room was large enough for two. There was couple of closet, couple of tables and large bed. Bathroom was also really clean and functional. Breakfast was really good. It ran 5 day cycle, so there was something different every day. Had a dinner once at the hotel, and I can really positively recommend also dinner food of the hotel. Caipirinha was also tasty one. View is nothing special, while most of the windows open towards opposite hotel (other Windsor). But while you are 2min walk from Copacabana, who cares. Mehr
"Great for the money"
This hotel is in a great location less than a block away from the beach. They have a sevice where you can get a towel from the front desk and then the guy working on the beach will instantly recognize you are with the hotel and put up an umbrella for you.I can't imagine it is worth paying double unless you absolutely want an ocean view. The staff was […] friendly and helpful and spoke English quite well. This is a huge plus because as much as Rio is a "tourist destination" not many people speak anything other than Portuguese. Mehr
"outatanding hotel"
A very kind, helpful and pleasant staff. Very clean and comfortable room.
"Great Hotel in a Great Location"
The hotel itself is in great condition. It looks like it recently had undergone a renovation which is a plus. The decor of the hotel itself is simple and plain, the rooms are solid and in excellent condition, and breakfast which was included in our rate was excellent. It's a simple buffett of fresh juices, eggs, sausage & bacon, breads, fruits, etc […] but evertyhing we tried was good if not great. We also found the staff quite helpful, friendly and nice. Just a word to the wise take cabs and never use the hotel fixed rate vehicles. You will always do better getting your own cab. Outside of that and our shower door in the room being a little off which really we didn't care about the hotel in total was a great value in a great location for a great price. Mehr
"Excellent location!"
Very close to Copacabana Beach and the location is very convenient, near banks, shops restaurants, etc. The hotel is in a very safe and secure area.
