das zimmer war mit 4 x 3 meter sehr klein und die rezeption sehr unhöflich

zimmer war nicht fertig, bei ankunft. die 90 euro buchung geht nach hointen raus, wo ein gasthaus bis morgens um 2 einen höllenläerm macht. keine aircondition, so das das fenster auf bleiben musste. der motor des fahrstuhles in unmittelbarer umgebung, so das mann immer gehört hat ob er runter oder raufgefahren ist. mein tip keine billigen zimmer ne […] hmen. Das Hotel liegt unmittelbar am Arno und einer gut befahrenen Straße. Um in die Garage zu kommen muß man durch abenteuerlich verwinkelte kleine Gassen fahren. Die Gäste sprachen englisch, an der Rezeption konnte eine Mitarbeiterin gut deutsch. Unser Zimmer war klein, direkt neben dem alten Holzbett befand sich ein Bidet und das Waschbecken (war nicht […] appetitlich). Das Fenster ging zu einer kleinen Gasse, auf der anderen Seite war ebenfalls ein hohes Haus, das machte das Zimmer dunkel. Ein Ventilator sogte für Luftbewegung, es war im Zimmer und erst recht draußen sehr warm. Die Einrichtung ist sehr alt aber alles war sauber. Die Dusche befindet sich in der vierten Etage, unser Zimmer war in der zweiten. Das Beste ist die Dachterasse in der vierten Etage, auf der man abends gut sitzen und etwas trinken kann. Die Getränke holt man sich in der Lobby, dazu kann man kostenlos etwas zu Knabbern mitnehmen. Das Frühstücksbüffet war sehr gut, zwar keine Brötchen, aber sonst sehr vielfältig und reichhaltig. Besonders sind mir einige als glutenfrei gekennzeichnete Lebensmittel aufgefallen. Die alte und enge Innestadt aber auch der Platz mit dem schiefen Turm sind bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Mein fuenftaegiger Aufenthalt war angenehm. Die Lage am Arno ist zentral, der Blick aus den Suedzimmern grandios. Spaet abends tobt allerdings am Arnoufer das Leben. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Die Kennzeichnung als einfaches Zimmer im Internet verbarg, dass es sich um Zimmer ohne WC und Dusche handelte. Hotel had enormous character. Staff very helpful. Conveniently located half way between the Leaning Tower and the railway station.

Great location, 5/10 mins from the tower and right next to the market area and nightlife (Pisa's pretty small anyway), and along the river front which is great. Hotel is quite quirky - haven't been to a hotel with an actual old brass key for your room for a long time, and it does look like it was a boarding school once. Our shower did leak unfortunately […] but they did come and sort things out for us immediately which was brilliant. Overall an enjoyable stay. Mehr

friendly front staff and very helpfull. the hotel is in the middle of the city, really close to all must-see sights.

It was the worst hotel that i have stayed. The bathroom was the dirtiest. I didnt see a bathroom where you have to worry about leg room! I have taken few pictures showing the dirty bath room, but there is no option to upload them.The thin mattress was on a cheap bed and it made a loud noise even if i turned slightly. I wonder if the positive feed backs […] were entered by the hotel itself. The only good thing is that the breakfast was free, which id not find it in other hotels i stayed in Italy. Great value for money- If you are expecting five star then expect to pay five star prices, and perhaps Victoria with its warm atmosphere is not for you. We stayed in six hotels around Tuscany and this was favorite.The staff were friendly, informative and helpful. The hotel was in a good location near to train station, and leaning tower. Hotel and bedroom […] was authentic, with lots of varied furnishings and decor to look at, in fact we spent a good hour just looking around the hotel rooms and looking out at some of the balcony views. Breakfast Buffet was good with fab coffee. The terrace was a real sun trap, we ordered a coffee which came with biscuits and a smile. The only downside we found was that we were only staying one night , and on suites had been taken, the shared toilet needed clean and fix as seat would not go down. The Victoria was recommended to us, and we certainly would recommend it to others. Mehr

Great hotel! We weren't that far from anything and we were within walking distance from the Leaning Tower. Hotel is old but clean. Front desk managers are extremely nice and very helpful. Breakfast was GREAT!! Truly enjoyed it. We had a great view. The AC didn't work (we stayed here in March when the weather wasn't hot, but a bit cool) but we couldn't […] open the windows to get any kind of air circulation. We loved the key to the open; very old fashion and charming. Although we only stayed here one day, we would definitely stay here again (but probably not during summer time.) Mehr

Stayed here on the way back from Florence to Dublin with my daughters. We all adored this hotel, it made such a lovely change from the small basic room we stayed in Florence . On arrival we were upgraded to a superior room free of charge. The staff were friendly and helful. As we had an early flight leaving before Breakfast we were told there would […] be coffee, juice etc and light snack in the lobby from 4.30am . We loved the old world feel to the Hotel. I would not hesitate to reccommend this hotel and will most definitely stay again when in Pisa. If in Pisa Book this hotel !! oh and location is perfect :) Mehr

Wonderfull hotel with amazing crew. The view to the arno is beautifull. The crew is very helpfull abd provides information about almost everything. The rooms are very big and comftorable equipted. Great location. A very good 3 stars hotel to a perfect vacation in a wonderfull city.

On the river. 20 euro for 24 hours secure parking. 2 euro an hour for poor signal wi fi. Good breakfast.

Comfortable old hotel conveniently located midway between train station and the Leaning Tower. Easy walking distance to main sites. The room needs some updating. Bed covering was worn and torn.

Built in 1939, the Royal Victoria Hotel feels like staying in a museum. Staff was friendly and the room was clean, but I wish someone had told me to stay in Florence and taken a few hours to see the tower instead of staying in Pisa. It really didn't feel like a safe city, and the restaurant choices weren't that great.

The room seemed clean, superficially, but there was an overpowering bad smell. I had a hard time sleeping because of the noise from the street, until 2:00am, and then the noise on my floor in the hotel from 2:00am to 6:00am. This is a hotel for college students apparently who are very loud all night even during the week. Judging from the signs posted […] in the hotel many of them become too drunk and fall into the river. The bed was very small and made a lot of noise; I think it was about 50 years old. On the plus side, the location is good and the room was very cheap. Mehr

It gives a historical feeling and the small garden at level 4 is nice. However the noise from the disco nearby is hard to be ignored. The room hv a strange smell. The hotel is near the riverside and not hard to find. The breakfast hv many choice.

Must have been great in its hay day. Very centrally located. Bedrooms are very basic, but the staff were very helpful and the breakfast spread was impressive. Overall very good value for money

I loved this hotel. The service was great, very historical and close to everything. The only down side was that my room backed up to the alley and it was filled with people partying until 2-3 in the morning. I read a previous blog about this, so I brought ear plugs and it helped. I would return again.

For 2 backpacking females the hotel was easily accessible by foot from the train station and the major sites. The location on the river is a delight of an evening, and there are plenty of welcoming restaurants and cafès nearby, away from the more tourist-orientated establishments. Spent only one night, but that was a good one. Staff is very friendly, room clean, shared bathroom clean and had hot water. Did not have the chance to taste the breakfast buffet, but it smelled very nice! Location is just perfect, far better than staying close to the leaning tower. It is only 10min walk to the tower anyway, and very close to the shopping […] & pedestrian streets. I would definitely recommend this hotel and even go back if I had to stop by Pisa again. Mehr

This is a lovely old hotel, full of charm! Our room was really clean and comfortable. If you want to step back in time from the hustle and bustle of some modern hotels then this is the place to stay! The staff were really polite and helpful, reminiscent of bygone days.

The breakfast was really good and the hotel staff were incredibly accommodating. The hotel isn't far from the train station, the main shopping street, the main eating district and the Leaning Tower. It's very well positioned for anyone who has not been to Pisa before. However, try to get a room on the left hand side of the hotel (if you're looking […] at it from the street outside) because there is an alley way on the right hand side and if you're in those rooms then sleep is impossible. The alley is incredibly loud and busy all night. The noise was ridiculous and although this is not the hotel's fault, you will need earplugs if you want to stay here. I shared a toilet and bathroom at the hotel. The toilet was close to my room and it was clean, however if you're in a rush to get to the loo and you're staying alone then beware because the locks on the doors are difficult to operate and it may take you a few minutes before you can figure them out! I also shared the shower room which was a floor above mine. There was hardly any water pressure, the showerhead was broken and because I was the third one in that morning, it wasn't as clean as I would have liked. None of that should put you off though! The hotel is really well situated and Pisa is a fantastic city with loads of lovely restaurants and sights and it should definitely be on your Italian adventure list. The hotel reception is also willing to keep your bags for you when you've booked out but want to explore the city and they were incredibly accommodating when I returned during a downpour and asked to use the bathroom and sit in the reception area for a while. If it's not raining then you could also go up to the 4th floor where they have a terrace which is absolutely beautiful. Overall, I enjoyed my stay. Mehr

The Royal Victoria Hotel is interesting as a historic place, which they have made good use of by a display of old photos etc showing illustrious visitors and events in the past. The layout of the rooms (sets of rooms off a large lobby or hall) is also of interest, and the public rooms are quite grand. However, the rooms are also rather historic in […] their services and furniture, not in a good way. There were hardly any power sockets in our room, and although there were two bedside lights, only one could be plugged in. It wasn't as clean as Italian hotels usually are either. Also, our room (with window opening on the smelly alley to the side of the hotel) was very noisy, but it was Saturday night. We didn't have an en-suite room, and so the toilet was separate and the shower was two floors above (but wash basin and bidet in the room). The breakfast was good though and the price was not expensive. Because of the interesting historical character of the hotel I think it is worth a visit, but don't expect luxury or even much comfort. On the river front in the central of Pisa. Rooms are old fashioned and tired looking, but clean and spacious. Staff are helpful, and breakfast fine, but don't have the coffee. You can order a drink to have on the terrace to get away from the city heat and bussle. Just 15 minutes walk from the Field of Dreams (incl Duomo and Tower). Look out for old […] palaces on the way. Eat and drink in the market area behind the hotel for good value and quality. Mehr

This hotel is very easy to get to by bus from the airport or train station. Its also easy to walk from here to the leaning tower and the main areas of Pisa. The rooms were just ok, with having a communal toilette and shower and not many facilities. The terrace is lovely and breakfast was good.

A lovely hotel with very friendly helpful staff. Excellent location. Request a room on the fourth floor for easy access to the pretty atmospheric roof terrace.

20 minutes walk fro Pisa station as well as the leaning tower. Good service, old time set up. Nice location for shopping, restaurants and river.

Overall, I had a very positive experience in this hotel. For the inexpensive price, I couldn't ask for better.

If you like your hotels to have a bit of character in preference to a standard modern hotel 'box', then you'll like this. We were travelling by train doing a Pisa-Florence-Siena-Pisa circuit and were pleased to find hotels in all three cities within 10-15 mins walk of the train station. This hotel is pretty much equidistant between the station in one […] direction and the leaning tower (etc.) in the other. Excellent location therefore, and reputedly the best ice cream place in Pisa just round the corner! The room was a little tatty/in need of decoration as others have noted, with a nighttime choice of noisy air-con or stifling heat. Communal areas characterful and grand, and the roof terrace was lovely. Breakfast was plentiful and varied, and the staff both at reception and at breakfast were wonderfully helpful in all instances. It's not the lap of luxury, but we would certainly recommend and would stay again if visiting Pisa. Mehr

This place is nice and quirky.

This was our first night in Italy and it was one of our favorites. The hotel was right on the Arno, in a very historic section. The building dates to the 1400's and has been run by the same family since the 1800's.

This hotel is furnished in the most delightful way with many pieces of beautiful period furniture and walls decorated with pictures and photographs from the late 19th and early 20th century .The lounges are so inviting, as are the bedrooms, all portraying a feeling of bygone times and old world elegance. The pleasant and efficent manner of the staff […] was evident immediately I checked in, an attitude echoed by the staff serving an excellent breakfast the following morning. It was a great location on the river. We had coffees on the terrace on the top floor and it was a really nice. The room felt small and dingy compared with the rest of the hotel. This was probably partly due to how nice the rest of the hotel was. Staff were very friendly and it was a nice stay.

Conveniently located only minutes away from both Pisa airport and the Leaning tower. Customer service was also a plus and as others have said this hotel has a strong character and is really good value for money (breakfast was a delight). Be aware though that noise can be a problem, particularly if you're staying during a weekend.

Bring your Tylenol PM if you stay here. It was very noisy, at least on the side of the hotel we stayed on. I think there must be a bar next door. This hotel was walking distance to everything we wanted to do in the city. About a 15 - 20 minute walk to train station. The staff was very friendly and the breakfast was very nice. The most charming hotel stay in our whole trip. The atmosphere and history of the hotel was fantastic, as was the breakfast menu. The staff were more than helpful with any queries we had and we enjoyed our time there and wish we could have stayed longer.

A beautiful, elegant old hotel reminiscent of the era of 'Grand Tours', i began to wish i packed a trunk!

The staff were at all times very helpful and this hotel provides a form of breakfast for early fliers at 4:30 am - more than most. The hotel was once a Grand Tour hotel but now has faded. The standard rooms lack double glazing, comfortable seats, the doors are thin and the decor sparse. The common areas are pleasant - the lobby and the roof terrace. The […] central position of the hotel does make it prone to noise - it's very close to the university and the social hub of Pisa, but the breakfast was fine (except they did once serve instant coffee which was disgusting) and the faded elegance is pleasing. Do take earplugs! You can hire bikes at a reasonable rate although the itineraries promised on the leaflet in the room were non-existent. A kind word for the night porter: the taxi company were having problems and he drove us to the airport himself. Thank you. We enjoyed our stay and would go back again. Mehr

The Royal Victoria Hotel in Pisa is a delightful hotel to stay for a mini break. Don't expect 21st century mod cons just lovely old worlde Victorian charm with plenty of interesting photographs and furniture and a fantastic service from all helpful and polite staff. Brilliant location, right on the river and close to bars, restaurants, tower...etc
