Zimmer war jedoch durchaus sauber, […] alles da, was man braucht. Mehr

"hotel bustin folkstone"
big huge hotel old fashion but clean, friendly staff, good food ,well organised dining room, good quality food and plenty of it,coffee and hot tea maker in rooms.good views overlooking harbour,
"A little better than a hostel..."
As warned, the hotel matches the two star rating. Room was good and clean. The shower was clean but unusable as I was given a room on the 13 floor and the hot water would not work if the shower was above the tap height. Breakfast was basic. Overall for the price it matches the quality.
"Helpfull Staff"
Staff ensured our comfort by free upgrade.
"Grand Burstin Hotel - dated, but clean"
Whilst the decor at The Grand Burstin Hotel is dated, it is a very, very clean hotel. Excellent place to stay for early morning ferry crossings.
"The Grand Burstin Hotel in Folkestone"
We have been staying at the Grand Burstin for some years, whenever we go to France. Friends discovered it and we now recommend it to friends in our turn. It is clean and comfortable, though the decor is a little tired, and has everything a traveller needs. Staff at reception are friendly and chatty at the improbable hours at which we arrive (usually […] between 2 and 3 a.m.), which is good for our morale. We have also found good last-minute booking rates. In short, we will be staying there between three and five times a year for the foreseeable future! Mehr
"An old building in need of some TLC"
The hotel suited our needs for an overnight stop over but it is very dilapidated and needs an complete overall. Everything is so old. The beds were very comfortable but the bathroom was so ancient you expected to see Cleopatra in the bath. The staff were very friendly but one night was enough
"Lets do the TimeWarp again!"
Step back in time with this hotel! Its charming in a way, a real throwback to the holiday heyday of the British sea side resorts... its gigantic, and has a strange feel of a hospital crossed with a holiday camp!!! Its as basic as it can be, the rooms are tired and dated - but, they are spotlessly clean, and the beds are comfy. The staff are friendly […] and helpful. A handy place to sleep before a channel crossing... stay away from the breakfast buffet though - the food is so stale its probably been there since the hotel opened !!! Mehr
reception staff not very friendly or smiling. not informative unless asked a direct question
"Grand bursting hotel Folkestone"
Hotel location was good. Very nice room. Good value for money. Some of the staff were a bit grumpy. Breakfast wasn't great. But I would stay again.

"Grand Burstin Hotel Folkstone"
Once you can get past the miserable reception staff the hotel is ok. It is run down but fairly clean. The bathroom was questionable. We were given a room with AC vents outside the window and an events room below, the noise in the afternoon was loud we managed to get another room but the receptionist was not happy and showed it. Don't ask for directions […] they don't want to help and if water starts pouring out of the ceiling in the morning over your bath don't expect thank you for letting them know, it won't happen. Having said all that the bar staff were friendly, maybe they should be front of house. The area is worth taking a walk around but take the car if you can't walk up steep hills if you want to get to the town. Personally I wouldn't want to stay here again the receptionists attitude put us off. Mehr

"Grand Burstin - Folkestone"
Excellent value for money. Room nothing special but clean and tidy. Breakfast not bad. Staff very friendly. Would use it again
"Hotel Burstin - You get what you pay for"
We were just at this hotel as we needed somewhere to crash. The tarifff was not at all expensive and we got pretty much what we paid for. The place was heaving. More like a transfer station than a hotel so unless you wanted to wait for a lift for 30 minutes you have to take the stairs. No big deal. The rooms are pretty ordinary and the carpet was stained […] and grubby, but the linen was clean, the bathroom spotless and the bed was really comfy. Tea & coffee making and an old CRT TV made it overall a good deal for the price we paid. 10:00 check out is a bit tough after a big night though. Mehr
"Grand "Burstin for a makeover""
Short version. Fantastic views from our premium room. Would have been more enjoyable if the windows hadn't been absolutely filthy and obviously not cleaned for a long, long time. Rest of room was clean and comfortable and quite nice, really. Staff overall did not come off as terribly helpful. They were very busy, but then you need to have more staff […] on duty. Disappointed having to pay £2.50 for the advertised indoor pool. And it closed at 18.00. Why? We stayed at another place recently where the pool was open all hours. Decor throughout the hotel reception area was terribly dated anda bit gross, to be honest. Bar/lounge area was rather decent, though. Elevators. 2 out of 4 elevators out of service with over 500 rooms to serve? It was a nightmare. Even the staff had to wait for these 2 elevators. Not good enough. Finally, we paid for included breakfast, but was told at the hotel that we didn't have that. Took energy and effort to produce documentation to produce otherwise. Free wifi is good! Worked even on the 6th floor. Television reception was awful. We paid £10/person for the dinner buffet in the restaurant. It was some of the worst food we have had. Really, really bad and the audacity of charging £10 for it. Appalling. We were issued twin beds instead of the double bed we had reserved. Not ideal for a romatic getaway. Mind you, since we got a premium room while only paying for a standard, it evened out. Overall, for a 6th floor, rather nice room with gorgeous views was sort of worth it. Top tips: Don't get the dinner buffet! Go to one of the lovely harbourside restaurants only a few hundred meters from the hotel exit instead. Don't stay here unless you get a very good price and are assured a sea view. Mehr
"grand burstin, folkestone"
although it could do with a bit of maintenance and descaling of the taps etc ( i didnt use the bath or shower during my stay) the location and convenience of the hotel and the friendliness of the staff was great. we are from an army background and were looking for somewhere to crash out after a night on the tiles and this suited us fine..we have booked […] to stay again... "Old but good value"
We booked this hotel for a stop over before and after a ferry trip to France. We were attracted by the location and the price. The reviews that we had read were very mixed from glowing to slating, so we pitched half way. If booking this hotel, please consider that it is quite old, which is reflected in the rates. If you expect four star luxury, you […] will be disappointed. However, if you are looking for a cheap room for the night, it's fine. Dinner and breakfast are a hot buffet - not to everybody's liking. The choice is limited, but it's acceptable and it is regularly replenished. Overall, it's cheap and cheerful, as long as you are realistic with your expectations. Mehr
"Grand Busrtin"
Value for money at the rate we paid. Hotel public areas were run down but room had been newly referbished and was comfortable and cvery clean. parking was limited. Breakfast was okay.
"You get what you pay for!"
This hotel in it's hey day must have been not only grand but magnificent too. It is now rather run down with poor decore and maintenence. My room had signs of mould in one corner of the bedroom and the sink had a strand of hair in it. The tea spoons looked as though they had been used and not replaced!. That's the bad review over, let's look at the […] positives: The hotel is in a great location overlooking the magnificent harbour. The lifts are incredibly efficient and fast. There is ample parking both onsite and if required on the main roads surrounding the hotel. There is local takeaways within a short walk from the hotel. There is pub within 100 yards of the hotel entrance, however it seemed to be full of rather loud and boistrous teens. The hotel is ideally situated for the Dover ferry ports, it takes less that 20-25 minutes by car. I did not take breakfast or use the leisure facilities at the hotel so not able to comment on these. One thing I would say is that it seems a cheek to charge £2.50 to use these facilities whilst being a guest. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a cheap, cheerful and well placed hotel prior to trips abroad. Mehr
"Super value...lovely breakfast!"
We stayed at the Grand Burstin Hotel before we went to france as it's very convenient for getting to the channel tunnel. We arrived at the hotel quite late and food had stopped being served but the hotel staff directed us to different food places around the harbour. The fire alarm did go off whilst we were there which then could not be reset for 1/2 […] hour due to a fault but the hotel did ring an engineer straight away and put on tea and coffee for everyone. This was quite annoying at 3am but at least it worked!! We had breakfast before we left, which was lovely. I would definitely stay at this hotel again:) Mehr
Very good rates, not far from town within walking distance, rooms tiered looking but clean, breakfast not recommended, good rates would use again.
just right for channel hopping
"Good value for money"
The only beefs i have about this hotel is the shortage of luggage trolleys and the frequently malfunctioning lifts. The place is always packed out so please Britannia Hotels spend a bit of the cash you are raking in on buying a few more trolleys and sorting the lifts out.
"Excellent For Channel Hopping"
We stayed here overnight prior to a flying trip to French Hypermarkets and were very pleased withy our stay. Nice room with view over the harbour and sea right across to Dover, Nice food (take the upgrade to smaller restaurant though) and easy to travel down to Dover in about 15 minutes.

hotel needs updating, but the staff were friendly and the room confortable and a great breakfast.
stayed for a 3 night stay b&b with my 14 year old son room was comfortable found staff a bit rude son went because they had a pool which was closed for 2 of the days, when the pool did open was told he can only be in the pool for 45 minutes even though we had to pay a fee to get in.Food looked good with a good selection but on day 2 was ill sick and […] rushing to toilet only place we ate throughout holiday was the hotel so couldnt stomach eating any thing for the next day and half folkstone was nice, beach was lovely and shopping good wont be going to hotel again. Mehr
Good value - but a very tired hotel.
"Great stop-over"
Stopped here on the way to France & it was very convenient for Dover ferry terminal. The hotel was very clean but could do with a lick of paint! Only dealt with the reception staff but they were very courteous, pleasant & helpful.
"The Grand Burstin,Folkestone-a good stopover."
I have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 30 years and it has changed greatly. 30 years ago,it was an unpretentious little hotel, with good service and the staff could not do enough for the guests. Since becoming part of a large hotel chain, the Burstin has become a mecca for coach parties from all over the U.K. and has lost all traces of the […] personal touch that it used to have.It is also much larger having been vastly extended, over the years. When I arrived there, the receptionist was not particularly welcoming (probably because she was rushed off her feet.) My room (number 1614),on the second floor (you work that one out) was clean and confortable, but the bathroom was extremely cramped. The breakfast buffet was somewhat of a fiasco:both food and drink kept running out(given the number of people staying at the hotel,I suppose this was inevitable) and long queues were impatiently awaiting replenishments.I complained that the sliced peaches with which I started my breakfast had gone off-the bowl was taken away but no apology was made. All in all,if you like hotels which are packed to the gills with tourists, delight in long queues at both the restaurant and bars and are prepared to be treated as an inconvenience rather than as a guest and furthermore, don't mind waiting ages in the hotel's car park to find a parking space, this hotel is for you.On the positive side, the price I paid was very reasonable, the harbour and Channel view from the hotel rooms are lovely and there are a number of bars and restaurants within a short distance of the Burstin.Folkestone centre is a 10-15 minute walk away,up a fairly steep hill, not particularly suitable for the infirm or disabled. "burstin folkstone"
very friendly helpfull staff , great entertainment Tony and his team work very hard to keep everyone engaged Food could be better and topped up regularly which i know is difficult when its packed . but we would go again as it was very relaxing and in a good area
"SUPERB LOCATION"
We enjoyed our stay at the Burstin; ours was one of the recently refurbished rooms - it was spacious, comfortable and well decorated. Situated on the 4th floor at the front overlooking the harbour, it had one of the loveliest views imaginable with something always going on there - tides ebbing and flowing, boats leaving and arriving, people going for […] relaxing strolls and in the far distance the white cliffs of Dover with the ferries going to and coming from France. We liked the lounge with the bar where we could get tea, coffee, drinks and snacks for very reasonable prices - we especially recommend the toasted teacakes. We had a meal in the Victoria - again reasonably priced and with a good choice of dishes. We always enjoy stayiing at the Burstin and look forward to our next visit Mehr
"NOISE"
ON THE SATURDAY NIGHT WE HAD TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE NOISE COMING FROM A KEEBAB SHOP OPOSITE OUR ROOM - WE DID NOT GET MUCH SLEEP AT ALL AND WHEN I WENT AND COMPLAINED TO THE NIGHT STAFF ALL THEY SAID WAS THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT - IT SHUT AT 3.30 am. ALSO THE BAR STAFF EMPTIED THE USED BOTTLES AT 1.30am - THE ROOM NUMBER WAS 1712 - I WOULD […] NOT BOOK AGAIN. Mehr

"Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone"
The hotel looked a bit tired and in need of an uppdate. Got the smallest room we have ever seen, almost no place to put our bags, nice beds, though. Bathroom looked newely renovated and was fresh. Surroundings were very worn down and not very pleasent to see.
Conveniently situated on Harbour front, this 487 room hotel is BIG. Caters mainly for Coach parties, and in spite of its size,it is run very efficiently. My room was a good size, very clean, and comfortable bed. Great choice at buffet breakfast. OK, a bit noisy on a Saturday night but all quiet by 12.30! Staff, l found to be very polite, efficient and […] friendly. A great hotel to stay at for a long weekend, or just for a nights stay before or after a ferry crossing.Would definitely stay again. Mehr
"Grand Burstin Hotel - Suitable for a long weekend"
I have just recently stayed at this hotel last weekend. Although the parking was a nightmare on the first day, I was able to move my car into the car park on the second day. The hotel staff were pleasent and the room was clean and comfortable. The only down side was there was no hot water on our second day and the breakfast wasn't up to much. Would […] certainly recommend it for a long weekend. Mehr
"Really Happy with Grand Burstin"
Although overall the hotel could do with a makeover, I found the staff to be very helpfull. My room was very clean and had a great view of the sea looking Westward. Would use the hotel again and have told all my friends to book there when they are going to use the ferry. Breakfast was ok, you could eat as much as you wanted. Only thing that did spoilt […] the weekend for me was it would have been better if it was much clearer that you need to pay extra to use the swimming pool. Mehr
My wife and I booked and paid for a double room on the 10th of May 2011 at the Grand Burstin Hotel for an overnight stay on the the 22nd July. After a very long and stressfull journey we arrived at the hotel and were given the keys to a room in the new wing. finally we located the room with no help from the staff only to find it was a single and little […] bigger than a cupboard. I phoned down to reception to ask for the Double room I had booked and paid for and the receptionist response was, " we're very busy and I can't promise" This was not the response I expected, however we returned to the reception desk where I was grudgingly given the key to a family room. The attitude of the reception staff was less than pleasant or helpful. We have used this hotel for some years now as a stop over on our way to France but after this experience we will make other arrangements in the future Mehr
"Burstin hotel, Folkstone"
The hotel is a bit run down already, with old elevators and smelly carpet. The view to the sea and the convenient location being close to Dover ferry made it convenient for us. We were there for a saturday night so it was pretty noisy. The staff is very helpfull and nice, and the breakfast has nicer variety than expected.
"Grand Burstin"
A hotel that has obviously seen much better days. Most inadequate car parking and I was most unhappy leaving a £75K Mercedes beside the street entrance, not in a marked parking bay. This entrance is within a few yards of the exit of a popular youth night club ! The shower in the room did not function at all.
"Hotel Grand Burstin Folkestone"
After reading some reviews we were apprehensive as to what we would find, however, the room was good, well done Hotel .com for getting us a superior room overlooking the harbour! We only had breakfast at the hotel. It was buffet style and was plentiful. I would advise people to eat in the hotel for dinner as at 8p.m there are few eateries in town. Very […] clean room if a little dated. We would book again. Mehr
