It was a trashy hole in the wall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

room service bad,front desk lady rude, housekeeping never clean up the room when i went and ask the front desk lady was rude and told me that i had to take the trash out and clean it up myself because there was not housekeeping available it was at 4pm and they had nobody available ... i will not recommend this place to nobody.

There are so many other hotels that offer an ocean view and are more modern. I should have waited until I got there to get a room.

This place was absolutely nasty! There was garbage still in the bathroom when we entered and the place smelled horrible. The beds had hair all over them like the linens had not been changed out just made back over. We left and never will we ever book a stay there again. Also, the pictures on the web are about 15 years old. The place is a DUMP!

The pictures make the hotel look bigger than it really is. It is not nice but it is not crappy either. The woman, Dray, at the front desk was super nice and helpful and made our stay great. The room service was horrible they never cleaned our room the whole time we were there, just would hand us towels and washcloths...which we always had to wait until […] mid day to have any because they were always washing and drying them. It was right on the beach and only a short distance from Family Kingdom and the strip..this is why we would think about staying here again. Mehr

We loved our stay at the viking motel, the staff was friendly and helpful! We were right there on the beach and for the price you could not beat this motel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for an affordable family vacation. We are already looking into returning next summer! Thanks for the great memories!

Decided on the Viking due to the good nightly rate and the oceanfront location. The pictures online are nothing like what the rooms look like. The hotel is in a desperate need of a facelift. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off while the tile in the bathroom is coming up from the over spillage of water from the shower. During our stay the housekeeping […] staff was short handed so the maid service was not well. Not once was our floors swept and on one day we had to ask for clean towels and our response was "put your dirty ones outside your door and we will be by to get them". Once they did finally come to pick up the towels we had to wait another 20 mins for the clean towels. After one day of sightseeing, we came back to the hotel and found a firetruck parked in the front of the building, the next day 2 police officers were walking around the hotel with the manager and several nights we noticed police lights from the window. Needless to say, we did not feel very safe. Would not stay again. =( Mehr

This is the second year we have stayed at the Viking. Although the hotel itself is old, the service and employees are some of the nicest around. We love going to the Viking because the beach access is awesome and the beach is never really crowed in that location. The rates are always reasonable and the employees try to accomodate the guests the besy […] they can. I would recommend the viking simply because it's affordable and convienent. Mehr

We stayed at the Viking for 7 nights. It is what I expected it to be - an inexpensive motel on the beach. The rooms were a little run down but mostly clean. It is definitely no frills but it had all the things it said it would. Our room had three beds and a kitchenette. Everything worked just fine in the kitchenette. One thing I'll say as a compliment […] is that the staff was very friendly and they responded very quickly to our requests for help. It is right on the beach so you can just walk right out onto the water. If you're not expecting 5 star quality but just a place to crash after spending a day at the beach or seeing attractions it is just fine. Mehr

I will never stay there again it was nasty and didn't look nothing like the pics on there web site I wouldn't let my dog stay there we felt we was staying at a crack motel that is how bad it is there and its bad when one of their head board falls on a little kid and he had to go to the hospital two times and all they want to give the parents is ten […] percent off of their stay that's sad and there aren't two tvs in the room and their housekeepers vacuum doesn't work the floors was black and felt gross you have to wear your shoes the whole time because if u don't your feet will be black I just don't understand how they get away with it being like that so I wouldn't waste my money that's a warning for whoever tries to stay there I know me and my family will never stay there again and they won't refund your money I think the place needs to be condemned Mehr

The room worked for what we needed-- a place to sleep. The biggest inconvenience was that our bathtub was clogged, which wasn't helpful with sand. The entire building needs some upkeep. Well! I have a big family, even though, the room was big enough with 3 beds. The AC was in one room and does not cool the other. The Kids froze in the room while my wife and I were sweating ev en with the fan on high in thre other room. It is convenient (at the beach). It lacks maintenance and cleanliness and parking. This motel was a dump. The carpet was dirty, there was one television for two rooms. Only half the picture could be seen on that television. However; the staff were very nice and understanding. They were helpful in arranging a room at thier sister hotel. This was certainly a step-up.

I don't even know where to start! I didn't expect the top of the line motel, but when we were charged a "resort fee" we had to laugh. Then the ride up to the room in the urine soaked elevator, only to arrive to a dirty room didn't make it better. We felt so uncomfortable that no one slept under the blankets, in fact I went to Walmart and bought blankets […] and we covered the bed up and used purchased blankets to cover up with. We were there for 6 nights and not one day of housekeeping. We bought our own toilet paper and went to the office everyday for clean towels. We had a family of 5 there and it did have a kitchen, however we were unable to cook because there were not enough dishes for everyone to eat off of .We did make good use of the refrigerator in the bedroom though. (yes the bedroom). If you plan on staying in this motel, bring blankets, sheets, towels, dishes, toilet paper, and enjoy the beach front place. It is right on the beach which was nice, however there is no wifi. Mehr

The hallways and stairwells smelled like vomit. When we got there at the time we were told was check in, the door was locked and we were asked to stand outside in the rain with other customers as they did "shift change." the room was smaller then i thought it would be. The refrigerater was in the second bedroom and it took space up.The floor was dirty in some areas.

To much confusion, people were too loud after 12, could not sleep for all the noise, pool was too dirty, didn't want my granddaughter to get in the kiddy pool.

The staff was short and rude. The room was dirty and poorly maintained. The other guests were loud and messy. Clearly this is a motel that holds very low standards. There was minimal parking and it was like pulling teeth to get extra towels. There were no extra pillows to be had. The room had not been dusted in a very long time, even after my request […] for it to be dusted. I recieved a smoking room after several calls to insure I recieved a non-smoking room. The view of the ocean was obstructed by a sewer access point. The room was equiped with only a small window air conditioner in the back bedroom, therefore, the door had to be left open and it stayed hot in the front (main) bedroom and freezing in the double bed bedroom. The bathroom was too small to function in, and the refridgerator was in the double bed bedroom. The shower curtain was covered in mold upon arrival, but upon complaint, was changed. The Viking is just poorly maintained and would be an acceptable lodging to people of very low standards for cleanliness and hospitality. I was actually asked to carry my entire groups dirty towels and wash cloths down to the office before I could recieve any new towels. I will NEVER stay at the Viking Motel again!!! Mehr

THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY THAT WAS POISTIVE ABOUT THIS HOTEL WAS THE LOCATION...THE ROOM WAS IN FACT CLEAN BUT...THE PEOPLE AROUND WHERE VERY RUDE AND THERE WAS NO ONE TO COMPLAIN TO BECAUSE THE OFFICE WAS CLOSED AND ALSO YOU HAD TO PAY FOR THE ICE. We rented a 2 bdrm but only 1 room had a tv which was small & from the 80's w/ only 5 channels. The stove had no indications of temperature. There was no pan to cook with in the oven. You had to hold the toaster lever down for it to work & it only toasted 1 side at a time. There was a coffee maker but no coffee or filter. The carpet was so disgusting […] I kept my shoes on at all times. It was very small & even though there was 2 bdrm's, there was no privacy. The door to the other bedroom had slots in it so you could see in & hear everything. The blanket smelled like pee. The only good things about this place is that it is cheap, right next to the ocean, & I was able to watch the kids play in the pool right from the balcony above. The kiddie pool however, was filthy so I was unable to let my baby play in it. Oh & the door to the room would not shut from the outside unless you turned the key so everytime the kids ran out the door I had to shut it behind them so my baby wouldnt book out the door. For the price and location on the beach it was a good deal. I would have liked to have a microwave in the room not just a stove. They were also doing construction on it while we were there but that did not disturb our stay. I would stay there again.

The hotels location was great I had no problems with that. I was very dissapointed with the fact that parking was very inconvient and limited.

I HAD READ […] SOME NOT-SO-DESIRABLE REVIEWS ON THE VIKING, BUT HAVING WORKED IN THE INDUSTRY MYSELF, I KNOW HOW CRITICAL PEOPLE CAN BE, I DECIDED TO TAKE A CHANCE. OVERALL, I WAS NOT TOO DISAPPOINTED. SOME PARTS OF THE EXTERIOR OF THE MOTEL SHOWED SIGNS OF AGING AND MAYBE LOOKING A LITTLE RUN-DOWN, BUT THE INTERIOR OF MY ROOM LOOKED PRETTY GOOD. THERE WAS A STALE SMELL WHEN I FIRST ENTERED THE ROOM, BUT EVERYTHING SEEMED TO BE CLEAN. THE PIECES OF SOAP IN THE BATHROOM WERE SMALL. THE WATER IN THE SHOWER HAD A TENCENCY TO ALL OF A SUDDEN GET ICE-COLD. THIS HAPPENED THE WORST ON THE FIRST MORNING, NOT-SO-MUCH ON THE OTHER 2. (I STAYED THERE 3 NIGHTS.) THE BED WAS VERY COMFORTABLE, BUT I WISH THERE HAD BEEN BLANKETS ON THEM. THE ONLY THING THERE WAS A TOP SHEET AND A HEAVY QUILT-LIKE BEDSPREAD. OVERALL, EVERYTHING WENT OK ON THE WEEKEND, AND I MIGHT UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES, BE WILLING TO STAY THERE AGAIN. IT WAS GOOD FOR THE PRICE. Would not recommend this hotel to friends. The hotel is in rough condition and in desparate need of an upgrade/maintenance. On the downside - the room we were given had hotels patched with duct tape, fraying, brown carpet that was not secured to floor and created a tripping hazard, and one of the bed frames was broken. Old motel. Needs alot of work. It is right on the ocean front.

The location is very good, but the condition of the hotel is run down and outdated! By far the worst hotel room I have ever stayed in.The saying goes, you get what you pay for!

My family and I wanted to go to the beach for our family reunion,from the prior reviews I really didn't expect much but is was a little better then I thought it was going to be. The kids enjoyed the pool it was clean the rooms were also clean although a little outdated. The only big problem that I had that it didn't have a t.v. in the second bedroom […] so all 6 of us had to gather around and fight over what we wanted to watch. Also the elevator didn't work for about 24hrs but they did have it up and running by the time we left so we didn't have to carry our luggage down. Overall the stay was good. Mehr

The hotel needs to be remodeled. In the bathroom the floor was coming up. Our fridge wasnt very cold either. There was a trashcan outside our room the was left overflowing for 2 days until we called. The only good thing i can say was the location. The pool was so dirty we wouldnt get in.

For the price we paid, the hotel was great.

Our party spent a week at this hotel, and that was enough. At check-in, the hotel demanded an additional fee for using the online reservation. Also be prepared to turn over copies of your ID for every person on the reservation. Parking was mainly across a four lane road and you hada to walk back and forth. That lot adjoined some "low rent" places with […] a lot of activity at night. The rooms were average, but needed some updating. Though our room technically faced toward the ocean, the view was of a stairwell and cleaning area with a public garbage can outside. The walkway to the beach went next to a sewage pumping station. If you show up and are really unhappy, you are out of your money because they refuse ANY refunds at ANY time. Next time we will spend another few dollars and stay somewhere else. Mehr

THE FRONT DESK LADY WAS EXTREMELY RUDE UPON CHECK IN.The fan in first room was ready to fall my son in law had to do maintance on it,you had guess haveing to clean pools to let their children swim,maids refused me towels after i already handed out dirty ones in,there was a drug bust outside the hotel from occupants that were staying there.you have to […] buy ice that anywhere else is free.I have never been more disappointed in a motel/hotel in my life my daughter stayed in a room about 2 miles up the strip back in may and had a wonderful time room was clean ,they were polite .but here i will NEVER Again .will i ever make reservations at this place again.this motel/hotel stay ruined my entire trip was a waste of money,i will never tell anyone to stay here ever Mehr

From the customer service, through the condition of the room, this had to have been the worst hotel I have ever visited. Whenever we arrived, the clerk greeted us very rudely. After we were made aware that each person in our group had to put up a deposit that was not mentioned in the booking process, we were given our keys and an inventory sheet that […] we had to fill out and return within an hour. Every towel, bed sheet, fork, everything had to be counted. not only that, the room was in horrible condition. Dirty linen, down to light fixtures that did not work. It was an overall miserable stay. We had a lovely time on our stay. Our days were spent either on the beach or in the pool, which was cleaned daily. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had two rooms and both were clean and comfortable. They were a bit dated but for the price they served their purpose well.

At this hotel the elevator would only leave the 4th floor if you pushed 2 then went to 2 and down to 1. If you pushed the 1st floor and nothing else the door would close then open again until you pressed another floor. The rooms were pretty clean but I was under the impression I would have a 2 bedroom when I had one bed in the main room, no couch, and […] two beds in the back room. There was no central air, so I had to sleep with the bedroom door open to get the air from the back room while the guests in that room froze to death in the night. The pictures online are not like the room I was assigned and I was somewhat diapointed, but I knew that with the price it wouldn't be the best. I should've listened to the other reviews that said the hotel was old and needed updating. I booked a non-smoking room and there was the fresh smell of cigarettes and an ashtray beside the first bed. I had to buy air freshener and candles to make it through the first night. Mehr
