Avila Village Inn - San Luis Obispo

Loved it. Ran a marathon the day before, prefect place to relax. Too bad the pool was under ocnstruciton on the spa side...

Honestly, this is a fantastic little hotel, with fabulous rooms, HUGE bathrooms (incredible massive shower), hot tubs on the deck of each room, and an overall wonderful, clean appearance/feeling. The only downside of the stay was that the bed wasn't that comfortable... but how many hotel beds are?! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. I LOVED the […] town of Avila Beach (it was our first stay there - for a friend's wedding) and I am already planning a return trip. The Woodstone marketplace near the hotel was convenient for buying bottles of wine, or sandwiches or snacks... but it really only is a 5 minutes drive to the beach, if you want more food/drink/store options. For the price we paid, I really don't think we could have done better than this hotel... plus, you have total access to the fitness club next-door which we would have used if were weren't doing wedding-related activities the whole weekend. Outstanding accommodations!

This elegant inn is perfectly situated for exploring the central coast. Quiet and comfortable, it is relaxing and well appointed. We really enjoyed our stay.

Everything was perfect. But, the hot tub was a little dirty. The staff was very willing to clean it for us.

Fantastic Hotel! My room was gorgeous, spacious and well equipped. There is a walking path behind the hotel that leads directly to the ocean and it's a gorgeous walk. More of a hike (about 1.4 miles) but it's all paved and through a beautiful golf course. Loved it! Can't say enough nice things. The entire experience was perfect! really like the jacuzzi in our balcony

Great place, great location, wonderful coffee and water always available, great continental breakfast. Absolutely wonderful four days. We went to the Mineral Springs for massages and facials, best ever. Only downside would be the pool is not open too late or early because it is at the Club next door, also wasn't able to get spa treatments there because […] of poor communication with the club staff, but not directly related to the Inn, the staff at the Inn were impeccable! Very nice hotel with a welcoming reception. Lovely big rooms which included a massive (For someone from the UK it was very big) shower cubicle, double wash basin, king size bed and the added bonus of a hot tub. Not far from the beach at Avila with a basic, but still very welcome, continental breakfast in the morning. We were on a road trip from LA to […] SF and it was the perfect stopover. The Avila area is beautiful and was perfect for an overnight getaway. The hotel itself is new and the room was roomy, attractive and all that we could have wished for. We loved the fireplace (just flip a switch and real fire behind glass!), the luxurious bed with high-end sheets and comforters, the gorgeous bathroom with a super-large shower and comfortable […] seating area. The best part, of course, was the hot tub out on the very private porch. There is a lovely spa next door that is available to guests. And the area is chock full of wineries with tasting rooms - lots of fun! The only downsides were: 1. A rather lackluster greeting at check in. It was efficient, but the woman seemed rather bored. I always appreciate being warmly greeted. 2. Terrible "continental" breakfast. The coffee was awful, and the selection of toast, bagel, muffin or mini-danish was pedestrian. It would not hurt to upgrade this a bit. Especially since the rooms and grounds were so lovely, having a Motel 6 breakfast seemed out of place. 3. Charging for bike rental! And $7 an hour per bike? Nice location in a enclave of oaks. Sports club next door is a little noisy during the day (our room faced the tennis courts). Very quiet at night. Lovely room. The Inn was like a B&B on steroids. Would have loved some restaurants near by, have to drive down to Pismo or up to SLO for dinner. Deli in front of office spaces closes at 7:30. Would stay […] again. Mehr

I enjoyed my stay there, it was a very comfortable and clean place to relax. The only thing I think they could have improved on is the complimatary breakfast, which only had very basic items, they did not have many choices at all.

This was our 5th visit to the Avila Village Inn. Love the location. Need to upgrade the condition of the rooms, pillows and common areas.

I was looking for a hotel in the SLO area. My wife and I were attending an event in San Simeon, plus we were looking for a night away. I found the Avila Village on hotels.com and it was better than we wished for. It is so charming and quaint. The room was very very comfortable and the bathroom is a good size. It is in this little area back away from […] the freeway in the Avila Village (hence the name). The Village has some businesses (accountants and real estate mostly it seemed). It might get a little busy during the week, but on the weekend it was deserted which was nice. The only issue at all is that they do not have a restaurant. They serve continental bfast (bagels, cereal) but for any other meals you have to leave the property. There is a little cafe in the the Village which is fine for lunch, but they close early so dinner isn't really an option. My wife and I are looking forward to going back. We love finding little places like this one and highly recommend it. Mehr

Hotel is a little distance from San Luis Obispo but is very charming, quiet, and near the coast. Staff was very helpful, room was very clean and quite pleasant. Would recommend this hotel.

Really enjoyed our mid-week escape to the Avila Village Inn. Sightseeing by day then wine tasting at the local wineries, watching the sunsets over the ocean and jumping into the jacuzzi every night. Top notch service, nice continental breakfast and peaceful and secluded - a really nice get-away!

This has to be one of the 5 best hotel experiences I have ever had. The area is beautiful, the hotel immaculate and adorable, and there was a fireplace in the room. Get the hot tub rooms, which have a hot tub on your patio! I slept 10 hours and didn't mean to! Can't wait to go back.

This place is a real find! The room was clean, very comfortable, and quiet. The gas fireplace was nice. The small spa on the deck was great (although the spa cover was quite dilapidated, hence the 4 rating on maintenance; also the hall carpets are very stained). Didn't get to use the fitness club next door but will plan time to do so next visit. The […] pretty bike trail out back goes 1.5 miles down to the beach, pier, and good restaurants and wine bars. Finally, there are two loaner bicycles (free, with helmets and locks). Considering all the amenities this hotel was a very good deal. We were just traveling through but it felt like a great place to stay awhile for a vacation. Mehr

So sad that we could not get the. AC to work for 2nites. Matianance told us it was fixed, but I was Not .Such a beautiful place yet sad. We were not comfortable, we will are willing to gtry again soon.

We departed Sacramento for SoCal late one morning with no particular destination in mind, but we knew we eventually needed to get to the Old Mission at Santa Barbara for our daughter's school project. While cruising down a long, desolate stretch of I-5, the decision was made to cut over to 101 and eventually PCH. I'll have to track down the exact route, […] but the back road we took from the interstate carried us down a beautiful, winding farm road and dropped us right off near San Luis Obispo. After visting downtown SLO and checking out a couple of the places with vacancies there, we figured we'd rather drive a few miles further to Pismo Beach and crash there for the night. So, we grabbed hot dogs, fries (OMG!), and a shake at Frank's and then continued on our way. But while we were searching online (thanks, iPhone!), the Avila Village Inn showed they had rooms available...with hot tubs! Uh, sold. The property is located in the very quaint Avila Village, which has a deli/market, some profession offices in a townhome-like arrangement, a private athletic club, and the Inn. After several long hours on the road, this was definitely our oasis. The evening caretaker was warm and inviting at check-in as she explained the available amenities and breakfast. The lobby is gorgeous...like being in a huge but cozy mountain lodge. I don't think the fireplace was going, but could imagine everyone gathered around the fire sipping cocoa after a long day surfing or hiking. Our room wasn't huge, but it was more than adequate for the 3 of us. The bathroom and shower are huge and we loved the rain feature. Nothing could top the hot tub on our own private balcony, though. It only took about 45 minutes to warm up and then all 3 of us fit very comfortably. After a nice, relaxing soak, we went in, showered, and dried off by the in-room fireplace which did an excellent job of heating the whole room pretty quickly. For those of you who prefer a more traditional experience (think crown moldings, oversized stone fireplace and Craftsman-style detail) , Avila Village is the perfect retreat. Near trails to Avila Beach winding through a near-perfect setting, across from a gym facility that sparkles, the hotel features a friendly, service-oriented staff and comfortable […] accommodations at somewhat reasonable rates for the area. Beautiful location, very nice room, great walking trails, our new favorite place !

Charming place in a great location. Health club right next door guests can use. Continental breakfast not so great, but acceptable. Close to freeway, but feels very much away. Rates are usually very competitive with places in Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo as well as Avila Beach proper.

We really enjoyed our stay here even though it was brief. The rooms were amazing and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The amenties were great as well.

We had a great weekend. The hotel was very nice, peaceful surrounding, it almost felt like you were in the mountains. The free continental breakfast was slightly disappointing, but overall we would definitely stay there again.

This hotel is a very nice hotel. My wife and I stayed just before Christmas 2011. We had a king bed, with a jacuzzi on our deck. This is a regular above ground jacuzzi and it came in handy after riding Atv's at the Oceano Dunes. The hotel is tucked away in the hills above the beach so you are driving anywhere you want to go. The Athlectic Club next […] door offers massages, which we highly recommend. The only exception to an otherwise great trip is the typical lame breakfast hotels offer when they say breakfast included. Dry cereal, wrapped danishes, and bananas at this hotel. You'd expect more from a hotel in this price range. Mehr

We were very happy with the Avila Village Inn. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We particularly enjoyed the health club and walking path right next door.

Avila Village Inn is a great place to stay in the San Luis Obispo/Avila Beach area. The lobby and common area is inviting with comfortable sittling area with Fireplace. Each room has a fireplace, a huge bathroom, great products and comfortable beds. Its quiet and quaint ~ I had a wonderful stay!

Superior lodging - quiet and pretty setting - cloase to the freeway, but far enough to escpe the noise. Be sure to check out the tiny picturesque village of Ailla Beach.

We love this hotel. The beds are so comfortable. It's always clean and the staff are wonderful.

We arrived in the evening so didnt know what to expect, first time in San Luis Obispo, its a beautiful building and well planned out. We had booked the room with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi, which was wonderful to be able to sit on the balcony and with a glass of wine and watch the stars (very romantic). The rooms are a good size and the bed was soft […] and comfortable. The morning continental was a little blah, by that I mean there was nothing special to offer (I think they could have gotten some fresher fruit or varied cereal, something to add a little wow to the very simple breakfast). The gym, exercise and sports facility was superb and had I known it was going to be so nice I would have brought my swim goggles and tennis rackets, very nice. Apart from the hotel the location is actually ideal, 10 minutes away from SLO but right on a beautiful walk and bike path which takes you down to the ocean, more time I would have loved a bike ride down along it. All in all try to stay a couple nights here, I was only passing through with my girlfriend but we both agreed to come back and make a proper mini vacation here again. Great place to stay!! Mehr

Enjoyed our stay very much, adorable little Inn and nicely decorated rooms. Highly recommend getting the room with the private hot tub and fireplace! Comes with a gorgeous big shower too! Only complaint is tried to play tennis at the neighboring club but after being told that we wouldn't need to reserve a court they were full all three times that we […] tried! Also was notified when signing in at the club that the courts were reserved for members only before 12noon. Super nice club though, I guess that's to be expected on a weekend morning. Mehr

This inn has rooms that are typically only found at $200 per night hotels. Loved the fireplace and all of the small special touches!

My wife and I stayed at the Avila Inn on a recent two day getaway holiday, The Inn was somewhat hard to find as it is in a small shopping center and has poor signage. For the entire stay, the internet did not work, and the management seemed not to place a priority on getting it fixed. The staff was helpful in trying to provide alternatives, but everyone […] seem to have the attitude that that is just how our internet service is -- unreliable. There are very limited places to eat nearby, so be prepared to drive to Pismo or SLO to dine. Also, the breakfast was very meager giving the quality of the property. Rolls in plastic, limited cereal choices. The best part of the visit was the room and the staff. The room was comfortable, with a gas fireplace and a hot tub on the porch. All was very, very clean and in great shape. Also, the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. In sum, if their internet service was working, we could come back. Mehr

Hotel was beautiful, rooms nice. But no restaurant to speak of, just a sandwich place that was just ok. Nothing really around it either. But for the price it was a nice place to sleep and move on from.

One of the hotels I've stay at and I travel a lot!
