We arrived in Venice at 6 in the morning and were just hoping that the hotel staff would let us leave our luggage there until check in time which was at noon. And they were very nice about it and said that we could come in around 9 and check in. Not only that we had breakfast on the day we checked in and the next eventhough we stayed only one night which could be money saving if you're on a budget. The rooms were clean, the location was very convenient (3-5 minute walk from Venice's Santa Lucia train station, and water buses were right by the station as well.) The only thing to keep in mind is that the bathrooms were shared (but were very clean and each floor had 4-6 bathrooms) and there was no elevator. Neither of these were a bother to us at all. We were allowed to keep the luggage there after we checked out as well. All in all I highly recommend it for the value in Venice.

Though we paid extra for the private bathroom, it wasn't connected to the bedroom so we still had to lock/unlock while we went down the hall to the bathroom. The room and bathroom seemed cleaner than the cramped entrance and narrow stairway. Light but filling breakfast which consisted of croissants and cappuccinos. Thus: fine for a one-night stay but if we were spending any longer in Venice, we would prefer a hotel with less "hostel" accommodations.

However, rooms are tiny and cramped unless you have triple or quad. Breakfast is excellent, mosquitoes frequent

Do not stay here in a room with the bathroom down the hall and window on the street. It was SUPER NOISY and the bathrooms were constantly soaked... We got NO SLEEP. The street was full with loud and drunk people until all hours of the night. We could hear EVERYTHING that went on outside our room in the hall, on the street, in the floor above... Breakfast was good. Location on Venice is very convenient to train station. Bed was OK. Room was clean--except for the floor, but that was the norm in the hotels we stayed in under 4 Stars.

We were travelling on a tight budget, to check out the Carnival of Venice, and were aware that getting a booking in the city at this time of the year might be costly/difficult. I'm pleased to say we found this one, as although it was nothing very fancy, it was clean and the staff were pleasant. The breakfast included in the price proved to be great, too (croissants, yogurt, coffee, etc.). Most rooms seem to have shared bathrooms, but this was okay and we'd rather stay here than a hostel. Some rooms had balconies, but it was too cold in February to make use of these. We did have to change rooms at one point half-way through our stay (the staff explained this when we first checked in) and one of these rooms was a little cold at night, but otherwise I'd happily stay here again in the the future.

I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. It will be well worth it to spend 10 bucks more and look for a hotel elsewhere. There was a strong stench coming from the rooms and it appeared that their sewage lines were broken. Plus when we arrived there were no towels and even after repeatedly calling the front desk we were not provided with any till the time we left. A few points in favor are the proximity to the St. Lucia Station and free luggage storage even after you check out. But these small pros are far outnumbered by the cons. Seriously, look to book a hotel near St. Marks' Square or Rialto and buy a one day pass for the water bus.

If you are catching a cruise from Venice, this is a great location. It is a few hundred yards after the first bridge into Venice (Piazzala Roma). It was a neat typical European room and it is a quiet alley (walkway) if you want to sleep. There is no name telling you where it is, but it is findable, once you cross over the bridge and walk a few hunderd yards, turn left into the alley (the first one I believe) go down 200 yards and it is there on your right. The name is on the hotel there. Every time you leave the room you must turn in the key as you walk past the front desk (Their rule, but not one problem). Typical continental breakfast is served in the hotel in the AM. Don't pay more than 60 Euro for a couples gondola ride, they will start out high and if you walk away that gondelier or his partner will follow and over a better price. The ride will be around 30-45 minutes. Have fun.

I stayed two nights at this hotel this visit (I also stayed here in April 2007), and the main draws for this hotel are the very reasonable prices (for Venice), the closeness to the Santa Lucia train station (it's just around the corner, basically), and the helpful staff. The hotel seemed "older" this visit, and my room was smaller this time, with a difficult key and lock for my room door (although the staff told me that they're working to replace all of the old door locks). The hotel doesn't have a lift (elevator), which is probably one of the reasons the prices stay lower. But I was on the first floor this time (one floor up, in European reckoning) and it wasn't a problem. The continental breakfast was good although not very varied in offerings, and it was served in a very small (and crowded at times) breakfast area. This is a decent, quaint, small hotel, with good pricing for the Venice area.

The hotel is very clean and accommodating, but ask for the first or second floor, if you stay here. Our floor was called the fourth, but it was actually atop the fifth flight of huge stairs. Luggage was impossible, so we left our large suitcases in storage on floor one and only took out what we needed. Good exercise, though.

I have stayed in some bad ones (in Africa, Albania...) but this is the worst! Bathroom was disgusting (balls of hair and dust), mould all over one particular wall, furntiure was cheap chipboard with horrible white laquer, squashed mosquitoes all over the walls (with inevitable human blood as well) - I added 3 more to the list - the overall feel of the hotel was not at all good - filfthy. Grateful that we stayed for only one night - any more and we would have refused to have stayed. breakfast was totally disorganised - not enough tables, and when we did get one we were packed in like sardines. Croissants were warm (which was nice) bvut were filled with something (why do Italians ruin Croissants by putting stuff in them?). Once again i guess the rule is that you get what you pay for and this is about the cheapest you'll find in venice - it's bearable for one night (at least the bed was quite comfy and sheets were clean - though i didn't dare to inspect them closely for fear of what i might have found), and 2 of the 3 showers I took were hot. Make sure you take a mozzie net. Staff were friendly enough.

Although easy to find and conveniently located, the hotel is not much to look at. The rooms are in desperate need of a makeover or at least a spring cleaning. Our room was next to the staircase and we were awoken by thudding footsteps every time someone went up or down the stairs. The paper thin walls were ideal for listening to our neighbours tv, burping and conversations. Breakfast ,although adequate, was a very basic continental. What happened to the hotels 2 star rating I don't know, maybe the stars fell off as we saw no indication of them anywhere.

Bathrooms functioned well. If you are not familiar with Venice, you will miss the "calle" as it's really nothing larger than an alleyway. Great location to the Train station and Ferrovia vaporetto stop. As numerous reviews have stated, beware that there is no lift at this location. We stayed on the second floor (third floor for the USA), and it was high enough. Breakfast buffet was small, but coffee was freshly made to order (espresso, machiatto, etc.). There was a problem at breakfast. Don't know what happened right before I came in but the lady who was serving was upset and in a bad mood. I believe she was late getting breakfast on the table and Also, we asked for a second cup of cappiccino and she said, "One cup per customer". That was a little cheap for my taste. If they are going to serve only one cup of cappiccino per customer, they should have had a "regular" coffee machine going. The A/C didn't work and when we asked about it they said it was seasonal and this wasn't the season. It was a warm day but cooled of at night. Problem was they didn't have screens on their windows and we had to either keep the windows closed or fight mosquitoes.

It took an easy bus ride from the airport to Plaza Roma, from which I walked over two bridges to there, already being immerse in the spirit of Venice. The room was reasonably large. I had a balcony that looked down on to the street and where the sun shone in the late afternoon. I sat there and read for a long while. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff where very welcoming. It was a little backstreet place with peeling paint and a couple of round tables out the front, but just the secret little place I wanted. The room we were allocated was on the ground floor by recpetion so it was a little noisy at times when other guests came in late or if the staff were having a natter, but the room was clean, nicey decorated and adequate in size for a short stay. Other points to note are that the recpetion is open 24 hours although the staff dont all speak English and there is a free breakfast buffet in the morning where they will also bring out coffee and coissants.

The hotel has no elevator and I don't believe it has any rooms on the ground floor. Not to mention it is located down a cobbled street with only pedestrian access. I managed with a bad hip, but anyone with mobility issues should consider staying elsewhere. We had a great deal of luggage and Giacomo, our concierge, offered to put us in a room on the second floor rather than the top floor where we were originally booked. This was his suggestion the moment he saw our luggage. A very gracious accommodation, yet we still had to manage the 6 bags up four flights of seven or eight stairs. Very friendly staff and all seemed to speak English with the exception of the woman serving continental breakfast. The room was lovely, though quite simple and we had a very nice sort of balcony with a romantic view of the street. Very convenient location for anyone coming into Venice by air or particularly by train. Quite a walk to San Marco, but the walk was worth the trouble.
