Hotel Doña Maria - Sevilla

Sehr gut gelegenes Hotel direkt neben der Kathedarle, dadurch aber leider sehr schwer zu erreichen.

Ein wunderschönes kleines Hotel mit herzlichem und mehrsprchigem Empfang mitten im Herzen von Sevilla. Ich hatte ein Komfortzimmer in geschmackvollem antiken Stil. Das Badezimmer war groß und täglich mit allem bestückt was man auf einer kurzen Reise vorfinden möchte. Alles funktionierte ohne Probleme und auch dasFrühstücksbuffet war wirklich sehr gut […] sortiert. Sogar Extrawünsche wurden erfüllt und waren imPreis von Euro 14.- inbegriffen. Die Dachterasse bietet einen einzigartigen Ausblick bei Nacht und läd tagsüber zum schwimmen ein. Auch hier war ich mit dem Angebot an Getränken und selbstverständlich dem freundlichen Service sehr zufrieden. Ich kann ohne Einschränkung und mit gutem Gewissen dieses Hotel sehr gerne weiterempfehelen. Mehr

Gediegenes, elegantes Hotel mit sehr hübscher Dachterrasse (mit leider sehr hohen Bar-Preisen), perfekt gelegen im Stadtzentrum

Das Hotel ist super zentral gelegen. Daher als Ausgangspunkt für den Besuch zu Fuss der wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten ideal. Die Zimmer sind recht ordentlich. Für ein "Romantik-Hotel" aber doch etwas bescheiden. Alles in Allem aber wegen der Toplage empfehlenswert.

Walk to historical sites. Old building with traditional Spanish decor,art and antiques in lobby and halls. Rooms are simple but very clean with modernized bathrooms. Bedding could use upgrading but was "adequate" Great roof top bar with magnificent views. We would stay here again just for the ideal location.

It's really a great hotel to stay. I can't believe how close it is to the Cathedral and all other attractions! The lobby, corridor and room are beautifully decorated and the staffs are nice and helpful, which gave me very good first impression of Sevilla.

Would have appreciated if hotel put on there website regarding construction work going on next door you could not have rest during the day. Room was very hot. Overall location excellent.

Perfect location!!!

The Dona Maria is the best situated hotel for seeing the Cathedral and the Real Alcazar. You can wake to either within 3 minutes. However, being so close to the Cathedral means the bells are ringing every fifteen minutes. Sometimes, there are 26 bells ringing. Great hotel, but not for a light sleeper.

Excellent location - view from rooftop bar can't be beat! Artwork throughout the hotel is beautiful. Staff is very friendly and helpful - we didn't eat at the restaurant, but the front desk was wonderful with booking shows and giving directions to us. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Can't wait to come back again!!

This hotel was extremely difficult to find with a car. After a very stressful nearly two hours of driving in Seville (NOT recommended) we finally decided to park in a parking garage and find the hotel on foot. That was the best decision since the hotel was in a pedestrian only zone. Our GPS (which admitedly needed to be updated) kept wanting us to turn […] down a pedestrian only street. The car stayed in the garage during our stay since everything we wanted to see was in walking distance from the hotel. The staff was a bit unsmiling and cool. The woman at the reception counter told us about breakfast, then after we enjoyed it, we were charged an extra 28.80 Euro!!!! She should have mentioned there would be an extra charge. There are many cafes just steps away from the hotel which would have been much, much cheaper! Mehr

Wonderful location and very traditional comfortable hotel.

we had problems with the air conditioning in our room but the staff were really good even though we had to move room twice! the pool is fab and great for cooling off - Seville was 38 degrees when we were there. poolside service is slow but friendly. Didn't eat at hotel so can't comment. Best thing is the location right next to the Giraldo and loads […] of tapas bars - the view from their roof terrace is awesome. No noise at night even though we were on the main street ( double glazing must be good!) Mehr

Hotel was very well located- smack in the center of the old district. However, in some ways it was almost too close to the cathedral. It was hard to view it from so close! Rooms were simple but nice. Hardly any noise in the interior rooms and completely dark. Slept easily. Pool was nice especially this time of year. Drinks are expensive so be prepared […] to pay over $5 for a soda. Hotel staff ranged from gruff and dismissive to very nice. One older front desk gentleman needs a customer service class or a different line of work! He truly seemed to resent having to answer any questions. Overall, we were pleased with our experience and would recommend. Mehr

Significant negative: The air conditioning in two different rooms I was shown (one I slept in) was quite inadequate, an old, weak fan blower didn't cool the room. Sevilla is very hot in summer, so this is a big negative.

We have just returned from a long weekend in Seville. We stayed at the Dona Maria which had the best location ever! The drinks were a little bit pricey but sitting on the roof top terrace over looking the square and cathedral, was worth it! A fantastic position!

Fantastic Location! Right at the back door of the cathedral. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I enjoyed a drink and cigar at the rooftop pool. I'm sure that all the people looking out at us from the cathedral were jealous.

The hotel has got excellent location near the catedral. But the room we had (a standard room)was smelly and not very nice, with no view. Maybe it would be better with the superio room?The breakfast room is small and crowded, with no extra service.

Nice hotel, good location, great breakfast except you have to queue. Would be nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Would recommend it.

Great location. We had to ask to get another room because the first one was very dark and had some bad odor. Great roof top with a view of the cathedral.

Stayed twice during the same month. The first time, the location of the rooms and the rooms were lovely and less expensive than the second time, when the rooms were small, need updating and no view and very pricey.

Right next to the cathedral and all the best tapas bars. Add to that kuper friendly helpful staff and a well cleaned room and this turned out to be a great place to stay. Downsides were that it was v difficult to get to in a hire car as the streets are so narrow and the breakfast was an expensive addition which we avoided on day two!

Perfect central location in the middle of the World Heritage Site attractions. Decorated in the "antique" style with authentic period furniture and pictures. Newspapers and magazines in the lobby. Comprehensive breakfast buffet offering more than most guests could eat. No hotel restaurant but that would not be how you would want to eat in Seville. Dozens […] of tapas bars and restaurants within two minutes walk. We did not visit the rooftop bar and open air swimming pool (February) but it would be a spectacular place from which to view the Cathedral and the other important buildings. Overall, it can be recommended for those who like discrete good quality. Taxi fares seem expensive. Mehr

Although the hotel is 4 star, the decor of this hotel was old and more like a 2 star. The bathroom was clean and modern. The location was excellent. It's next to the Cathedral on the side of the Girada Tower. The old barrio of Santa Cruz is right next to it. It makes it easy to go see sights and return to hotel before venturing out again. From the train station, you can take a bus and stop at Prado de San Sebastian, and then walk to the hotel, or take the Tram and stop at the Cathedral. Mehr

The hotel is right opposite the Cathedral and about 3 mins walk to Alcazar, the Santa Cruz area and the main street, you cannot get more central than that. The location is unbeatable. The view from rooftop bar is amazing. However, the hotel is rather run down, the mattresses are on the hard side, and the shower knob is difficult to use. If you get a […] room near the back like we did, it could get noisy as it is right next to an alleyway. All in all, if you spend most of your time sightseeing rather than lying at the hotel, and want a centrally located place, this is a great choice. Mehr

The Hotel is located in an old building, and as such has the feel of an older establishment. The room was a little small, but you shouldn't be spending much time in the room anyway. The location is incredible. Walk out the front door and you are 30 meters from La Giralda and the Cathedral. Additionally, you should take advantage of the hotel bar on […] the roof, especially at night. The Cathedral and La Giralda lit up were beautiful. Overall, a clean hotel that isn't super comfortable, but acceptable. However, you CANNOT beat the location, and all the rest doesn't matter when that is taken into account. Mehr

Perfect location. You will cry trying do find the hotel on a GPS and don't drive anything larger than a mini car. We had a 5 passenger van and barely survived the narrow streets. We had to drop off the luggage and then find a parking spot four blocks away in a city underground for an additional fee. They can't hold a spot in their hotel garage for you […] because it fills up fast. Old hotel style, crusty furnishings and decorations that need revamping. Rooftop bar was a picturesque treat overlooking the towering Islamic tower and catherdral buttresses. After a long drive from Seville it was the perfect place for a sundown cocktail. Forget breakfast there if you want to save money and get more for your dollar at corner cafes. Rooms are small but bed is hard - yet we got used to it no problem. Don't miss the entering and spending some time in the cathedral across the street and hopefully go during a mass and hear the choir, organ and priests. Also, Christopher Columbus's tomb is there and no one seems to make a big deal about it, but we loved finding it! Don't take hotel's suggestion for Tablao Flamenco El Arenal and definately don't get dinner at the show....the food is horrible. Find a better show. Otherwise go to this show but just have drinks. The women in the show are fantastic. It is a small stage show with 4 musicians, two male singers, one female, three men and four women dancers. I guess that is a lot of performers but somehow I wanted more. Consider taking a horse and carriage ride .....it is so romantic. Mehr

An excellent hotel in the best situation possible to enjoy the historical centre of Seville. In an ancient building, appropriately furnished. Very comfortable and clean, with hepful staff. Strongly recommended.

When my wife and I stayed here in Sept. 2010, we found the ground floor lounge and bar out of action for refurbishment. The buffet breakfast had excellent range and choice, with good service standards. The room we had (323) although small, had character, but would have benefited from the provision of facilities to prepare beverages, as is standard around […] the world in most hotels of this class. The roof terrace had fantastic views, and the bar staff were excellent. Generally, we would recommend this hotel, but check the room you are allocated before accepting it. Mehr

A good hotel on the edge of the cathedral square which is in an excellent central location for exploring the old city of Seville. There was a major refurbishment of the hotel going on during our stay. This was being very well managed and did not cause us any inconvenience. The only disappointing aspect of this was that we did not see the hotel at its […] best. The roof top terrace bar and pool provided a wonderful location for an after dinner drink overlooking the illuminated cathedral. Mehr

It would be impossible to beat the location of this hotel in Seville - the Cathedral and Alcazar are right there on your doorstep. I was nervous this might mean we'd be disturbed by the churchbells but this wasn't the case at all. We didn't use the terrace pool (which is a little on the small size) and bar, but they looked like a stylish spot to hang […] out and soak up the sun. The hotel was full of decor that reflected the distinct culture of Seville, and it enhanced our experience of Seville's distinct atmosphere. Mehr

This is a lovely hotel in a brilliant location.. Even though they were doing some refurbishments it never disturbed us or spoilt our stay. Room was large, spotless and very comfortable. The rooftop pool has amazing views and a lovely area to relax in with towels provided. Seville is a wonderful city and this hotel is right in the heart of the old city […] near to the best tapas bars in the city. Mehr

Really fantastic hotel, we paid a very low price considering the location, perhaps this is why our room was a little tired. This was fine though as it was reflected in the rate, the only real criticism we had was that the bed did not offer very good support (very soft).

This beautiful, charming hotel in an historic building was perfect in every way. The room was modern,nicely furnished, spacious, clean and comfortable. The location couldn't be beat, just around the corner from the cathedral in the center of the old city. Easy walking distance to all sights. Loved, loved, loved the location! With that said, I agree with the other reviews that I read before booking this hotel. I would not stay here for an extended amount of time because the beds are not that comfortable and the pillows are absolutely horrible - I think they are the original ones! The rooms are pretty although a little worn. If they just […] had new, non-lumpy, nice pillows and spruced up comforters it would made a BIG difference. The hotel was very nice, the location was fantastic. It is a little tricky to get to if you are driving a car, the streets are very narrow and not well marked. It was very hot when we were there and the air conditioning could have been colder but it was fine, They are doing some construction the lobby area so there was construction noise like jackhammers […] and such, but not early in the day so we didn't mind. The decor is very traditional so if you are looking for a more modern fell this is snot the place for you. Mehr

There is little more to be said about this top yet affordable hotel located across the plaza from the Catedral. If you want to eliminate driving around Seville and to spend time in the Arenal & Santa Cruz, if you want a pool, and proximity to the river walk and to the endlessly inspiring little streets and cafes of this district, stay here. There may […] be a little street noise at night, and the morning of our stay the workmen were still banging around doing renovations to part of Dona Maria. Don't let that deter you. A key for us was to first find a parking garage near the tourist information center, and to find the hotel by walking to it. We had a fabulous 3 day stay at this hotel. Its very central and the view of the cathedral is lovely. Great value for money and having a pool in 42deg heat was essential. we celebrated the workd cup victory in a nearby bar & enjoyed fabuolus tapas around the corner. Would highly recommend this hotel and would stay again if i was to re-visit.

The Cathedral is a pretty central and easy to find landmark in Seville so when I was planning this trip I was looking specifically for high quality hotels nearby. I was very happy with the choice. The staff was friendly and helpful (especially since they all were fluent in English). The hotel is a former palatial mansion and is still decorated in that […] style. The art on the walls and on display were all original pieces that were inherited along with the property before it's conversion to a hotel. That being said, the room was decorated in a more antique style but was clean and pretty large. The property is right next to the cathedral so you do hear the bells from La Giralda fairly clearly. From our room we could hear the bells but they weren't invasive. Even from the pool/terrace bar it wasn't too loud. I also greatly appreciated that there were two computer stations connected to the internet that guests could use for free. Also the wi-fi from what I understand was also provided free. Overall it was a good experience and would definitely recommend this hotel or stay here again if I visited Seville in the future. Mehr

This hotel could not be in a better location to see the Alcazar Palace, Cathedral, La Giralda and stroll through the old Seville. The view from the "terraza" where they have a small pool and a bar with tables has excellent service and an incredible view of the Cathedral and La Giralda... Day view and at night when the buildings are lit up.

It is close to all must-see sights. It is quite hard to get there by car. However, once you get there, you can do almost everything by walking. (shopping, visiting, dinner, etc...) Employees at the reception are very helpful. They got my tickets for flamingo dinner and for corrida.
