Hotel du Mas de la Chapelle - Arles

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Allerdings: Man lebt in Antiquitäten. Der Besitzer ist begeisterter Sammler. Wir mögen das, andere vielleicht weniger. Das Hotel liegt einsam. Hin und wieder hört man die Eisenbahn. Es hat einen sehr schönen und sehr großen Park mit vielen Sitzgelegenheiten und ein großes Schwimmbad im Park. Der Inhaber ist sehr freundlich […] und hilfsbereit, das Personal ebenfalls. Frühstücksbüfett, auf dem Zimmern stehen kleine Kühlschränke, die man selbst nach belieben befüllen kann/muß, also nicht die sonst üblichen Minibars. Es werden keine weiteren Mahlzeiten angeboten. Wir sind zum Diner mit dem Auto nach Arles gefahren; der Inhaber hatte 4 Restaurantes in der Rue Fanton empfohlen, alle gut. Das LE 16 war unser Favorit. Wir würden das Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen. Had difficulty finding the hotel but our room was lovely--spacious and well-appointed. Very nice breakfast buffet. Grounds are in need of some serious maintenance but the weather at the time of our visit was fairly cool so we wouldn't have been outside much anyway, plus spent most of our time in Arles and not at the hotel. Common areas in the main part […] of the hotel looked as if they could use a good dusting/cleaning, but all in all, it was the most pleasant hotel of a two-week stay in France and Spain. Mehr

After arriving Arles, we were directed to take a bus to Hotel du Mas. The bus took us to a town way beyond the hotel. After a costly taxi ride back, we were stuck in the middle of nowhere at Hotel du Mas. Imagine being invited to the country estate of a wealthy gentleman, who at the last minute is called out of town on business but leaves his friends in the care of his trusted young butler. Such is the feeling staying at this expansive place. The garden is a bit overgrown, ducks and chickens are kept at the far end of the grounds, the pool is surrounded […] by comfortable lounge chairs, and the butler keeps a basket of extra towels for the guests. A vast collection of antiques furnishes the rooms. Guests meet at the breakfast terrace and then disperse to follow the day's whims. It is probably one of the more unusual hotels I have stayed at. The hotel is a ways out of town, and unfortunately there's an unattractive industrial area between the two. Aside from breakfast - which is self-serve and overpriced, though there is a discount for children - there is no food available, so it's best to stock up on food in town if you are planning on just relaxing on the grounds - which are exquisite. There are several large dogs that live here. They are friendly, but one snapped at my young son, so the caretaker had to lock them inside for the duration of our stay. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel - the staff is accommodating and helpful, and the feel of the hotel makes it stand out from the usual offerings for overnight stays. Mehr

We loved this place. This place was the most authentic French hotel we have stayed at, even the drive from the main road was stunning. Well worth a stay. We loved the pool too.

I wanted to stay in an old historic property close to Arles, France. It was amazing with a large swimming pool beautiful grounds with flowers and statuary and fountains. Our room was charming. The only problem was the shower didn't drain and water was everywhere. It was memorable and the breakfast was superb. I would stay there again.

My husband and I were quite surprised that even though the pool sign said "quiet" there were 3 little girls there and a family who pretty much took over the pool. There was also a baby in the next room that screamed a lot of the night. So, I think they should decide what type of hotel they are and make the cost accordingly (pretty pricey). A beautiful surprise, however very difficult to find as lady from Hertz gave us incorrect directions. The room was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable bed and bathroom. We had a lovely breakfast in the garden in the morning and explored their amazing garden (which is a bit behind in it's maintenance). Wi-fi worked well. This hotel is set on a back road just outside of Arles, and is gorgeous. It worked great as a home base to explore the countryside, and was perfect for our weekend. It would also be a great place for families (nice pool, plenty of space to explore). My only advice is to take the hotel phone number with you if you are driving in -- it was a little tricky […] to find coming in on a different route than web-based directions. Mehr

For the price, I think that my stay was average. The gardens and grounds show about a year of neglect. There were three large dogs roaming the property, one of which was jumping up on people and would not listen to commands and was not controlled (sharp claws needed to be trimmed, the dog tore my wife's sweater). Wow. We spent two nights at Hotel du Mas de la Chapelle, and we loved it. It's not your typical European hotel experience, not by a long shot. It's a country estate, with beautiful buildings in a storybook setting. Our room was huge and gorgeous, but the hotel offers a variety of options, with rooms in the main house or in the outbuildings. It's not […] in town, it's really out in the country, but we managed fine without a car. The taxi rides were about 16-19 Euro in each direction between the hotel and the center of Arles. With a car, as another reviewer mentioned, this would make a great base for exploring all of Provence. Two more points: The staff was excellent, friendly and professional, and the breakfast was by far the best continental we've experienced in Europe. Mehr

Country-living in Provence. Spent three nights here while day-tripping by car to Rhone river wine country and historic surrounding towns of Arles and Avignon. Hotel grounds were rustic and beautiful. Rooms were a bit tired with small TV. Bathrooms huge, could use a shower curtain. We had some spider roommates, but that's what you get when your room […] opens to a lush garden environment. Other reviews note excessive train noise, but give me a break, this the periodic whispy sound of a train blowing thru is hardly a bother, don't pay attention to those nitpickers. Mehr

Unknown treasure, beautiful, unexpected place, friendly and funny staff. Far from downtown but worth to look for it. Great rooms, beautiful garden, incredible lobby in a chapel. Very good breakfast. Relatively difficult to find, more signs would be useful.

Said it earlier. Most pleasant surprise on trip. Exceptional value. Small and quaint located on a farm not far from town on country road. This place is secluded, quiet and a nice break from the town. The rooms are all unique and very spacious and beautifully furnished with period furniture. The grounds were a little overgrown, but it was end of season […] and much fall cleaning was occuring. Breakfast is available, but there is no restaurant. There are plenty of restaurants within 2 miles. We highly recommend and would certainly stay here again. Cet hôtel ne correspond en rien à la description faite sur le site hotel.com. Pire encore, je n'ai pas même pu acceder à l'hotel à 19:45 car il était fermé. La reception était inaccessible, il n'y a plus de personnel à partir de 19:30.

不便な場所にあり、ホテルへのアクセスもわかりにくいので、機能的で便利なホテルを探している人には向かないと思いますが、ひとつひとつの部屋が独立して離れになっており、写真の通り内装や家具、備品はオシャレで、遊び心があちこちに見られるので、そういうのが好きな旅行者には良いと思います。私たちは気に入りました。 ただし私たちが宿泊したときは庭の手入れがあまりされておらず、写真のイメージとは少し違う雰囲気でしたので、過剰な期待は禁物です。 大きなジャーマンシェパードが出迎えてくれるので、イヌ好きにはよいかも。最初はびっくりしましたが、大人しくてよい子でした。

ホテル内に木がたくさんあり、自然の中というのはいいのかもしれませんが、部屋に虫が入っており、壁や天井には虫がころされた跡がそのままになっており、とても不快だった。 また、木が多いせいで、部屋が常に日陰になり、湿気が半端ではなかったところがとても残念。 ただし、プールは広くて、よかった。

Smukke bygninger og omgivelser. Ligger ude på landet ca. 10 min. fra Arles. Nydelige personlige lidt specielle gode værelser. Smukt og dejligt pool område. Dejlig gårdhave hvor morgenmad kan indtages. Lidt dyr morgenmad og der er ikke mulighed for at købe frokost og middag, men der er borde og stole, hvor man er velkommen til at indtage indkøbte mad-og […] drikkevarer. God og meget venlig service i receptionen hvor der også forstås engelsk. Godt og roligt familie hotel der kan anbefales !! Mehr

Very special place to be, in the countryside close to Arles, perfect location especially when the city becomes crowded and noisy with the Feria. Rooms are located along the well dressed garden, quiet and well furnished, giving us a very warm welcome. It was the perfect place for a quiet break with my girlfriend.
