"Mate Grace" ist ein hippes stylishes Hotel gleich neben dem Times Square, netter und freundlicher Service. Zum Hotel gehört ein Indoorpool mit angrezender Bar( eher etwas für ein jüngeres Publikum) Kleine, aber saubere Zimmer. Das Hotel ist "klein aber fein". Es liegt in einer Seitenstrasse des Times Square. Die nächste Metrostation liegt ca. 3 Minuten zu Fuss entfernt. Das Zimmer war sehr zweckmässig eingerichtet und bot genügend Stauraum. Das Hotel hat einen kleinen Pool direkt bei der Bar. Hier lässt es sich gut entspannen nach einem Tag in der Stadt. Leider kann man dieses Hotel trotz all seiner Vorzüge zur Zeit keinesfalls empfehlen, da durch die unmittelbar an das Hotel angrenzende Baustelle eine erhebliche Lärmbelästigung besteht- und zwar Tag und Nacht, auch am Wochenende! Messungen ergaben eine "Grundlautstärke von durchgehend 55 Dezibel und Spitzen bis zu 97 Dezibel! Die Arbeiten begannen […] täglich um 6 Uhr früh und endeten meist erst nach Mitternacht, eines Abends zählten wir sogar 5 Betonmischer-LKW in der Strasse! Hinzu kam, dass die Fenster des Hotels sehr einfach konstruiert sind- nicht einmal doppelte Scheiben, sodass es kaum einen Unterschied macht, ob sie nun offen oder geschlossen sind. In der vorletzten Nacht war es besonders schlimm und wir haben uns um 1 Uhr früh auf die Suche nach einem ruhigeren Hotel gemacht, welches wir auch in der Nähe gefunden haben. Wir sind daher am nächsten Morgen übersiedelt, um wenigstens fit für den Rückflug zu sein! Nebenbei erwähnt bekamen wir bei unserer Ankunft ein Standardzimmer anstatt des gebuchten Deluxe-Zimmers und mussten zweimal Zimmer tauschen, bis wir unser deluxe-Zimmer im 15. Stock bekamen. Dieses war zwar aufgrund der Ausstattung sehr ansprechend, konnte aber die Lärmbelästigung nicht wettmachen! Laut Auskunft einer Hotelangestellten werden die Bauarbeiten noch einige Monate andauern. Ansonsten muss ich aber sagen, dass das Hotel den Erwartungen durchaus entsprach, was Ausstattung, Sauberkeit und Frühstück betraf!- bis auf den Pool, der natürlich in Wirklichkeit viel kleiner war, als am Foto dargestellt ;) Insgesamt wirkte der Wellnessbereich nicht sehr einladend, zumal er sich direkt neben dem Frühstücks/ Barbereich befindet. Die Zimmer sind für 2 Personen mit Feriengepäck unangenehm klein - gemessen am Preis zu klein.

Supergute Lage direkt am Time Square! Das Personal war sehr unfreundlich, inkompetent und nicht hilfsbereit!

This hotel was very conveniently located to Times Square and the biggest surprise was how quiet the rooms were. I slept very soundly which is unusual when I stay in hotels that close to Times Square. The decor was very hip and cool. The pool in the lobby next to the bar/club was a little unnerving and looked like they were going to film an adult film […] at any moment. Convenient to many New York attractions. Rooms small but are very nice, clean hotel and service was great. We enjoyed our stay at Room Mate Grace!

Times Square but on a side street so noise was not a problem. I would recommend-good price, definitely contemporary.

Rooms are smaller than small. (and I lived in Manhattan and know a small room). No shades on the windows so the light from Time Square came through., I travel 3 nights a week for business and this is not the place to stay when you are on the road. If you are going to the theatre and need a place to sleep, fine. Don't bring much stuff, and don't expect to entertain, or work in your room. The very comfortable queen bed was on a sort of platform with room for luggage underneath (good use of odd space) requires stepping up onto the platform or crawling up onto it to get into bed. There was no […] room for a chair in the room, somewhat solved by a seat and back on the platform. Basically you can sit on the edge of the platform but more than two people in the room and you'll be more than intimate. Clean modern bathroom. One unequivocal complaint was that the walls are rather thin, doors make a loud "clunk" when closed, and there seemed to be a party of high school kids on the floor. Clunks and talking in the hall until after 3am, every clunk and word clear as a bell in my room. Another note: with construction on the north side of 45th street toward 7th avenue, it was a real pain to get out to Times Square and theatres. Looks like it will be some time until that is finished. All reviews say the rooms are tiny, but our Deluxe room (which came as a surprise free upgrade) was very spacious for two. The bed was VERY comfortable and all areas of the room were clean and modern. Had a few issues with staff when they didn't have proof that my fiance was staying here with me, but that was not a big issue. Also, one review said they […] have room service, but they do not. And breakfast does not include eggs, bacon, etc...it's bagels, cereal, fruit, pastries and coffee -but I would still pay the charge to sit in the comfortable eating area and have a nice hot cup of cappuccino. VERY friendly staff, clean room, great location. Great price. My room had a poor view (brick wall, covered on top due to nearby construction), thin walls caused noise to travel, and non family friendly room layout (open concept bathroom). A really good hotel in the heart of NYC! 2 mins walk to the Times Square, 15 to Central Park, 5 to the 5th Avenue, 10 mins to Empire State Building! Rooms are very very comfortable and clean!! Didn't have any problems with Wi-fi in the room! amazing bar and swimming pool! Everything was great! Will definitely stay in Room Mate Grace hotel again!

Great little spot!! very cozy rooms, amazing showers

We stayed at Room Mate Grace for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff, funky room decor and the pool on the lobby area. Location is amazing... just steps from Time Square. Two considerations... First off...beds are on platforms. Very comfortable but probably would be tricky for some seniors to negotiate. And secondly, there […] are no doors on the bathroom... just shower curtain hanging in front of toilet and shower... so cant be shy to stay here. I would definatly stay here again. Mehr

We had a great room that included two sets of bunk beds, each with their own TV with headphone jacks and power outlets to charge electronic devices. It was perfect for me and my three 13 year-olds. The shower is wonderful and the room is well appointed. I don't have anything negative to say. We showed up early and our room was ready, the staff was friendly and informative. The pool has a misconception of being right in the lobby, but its accessed through the 2nd floor with more privacy than pools at other hotels. The room was clean, the tv was outdated, the bathroom was clean and functional though […] more water pressure would help with the rainfall shower heads. The street was under construction in front of the hotel but that is not the fault of the hotel. Its location is fantastic!. One minute walk to time square, 15 minute walk to central park and a parking garage within a 3 minute walk of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and would stay again. Mehr

This is a great location for a hotel, as it is minutes from Times Square. The lobby was amazing with the swimming pool and bar. My room was clean and comfortable, but a little smaller than I expected, even for New York.

Great location but just enough distance from the craziness of Times Square. Walking distance to everything. Great cozy rooms.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night and we were very happy with it. The room was very very small and I wouldn't really say it was "comfortable" had we stayed longer. The staff is very helpful and personable, and the amenities are great, especially for being in New York. We booked this hotel for several nights. We were not happy with most of the things in the hotel: no services provided without additional charge (e.g taxis, booking shuttle airport services, computers at the lobby, bottled water in the room). The facilities at the hotel have a really bad finish (the windows are thin, not enough place to hang stuff). […] Because the windows are so thin, you hear all the noice from the street and there is a constant draft. The lobby is tacky, and the fact that the bar/pool area is open to the public every night, is quite disturbing. However, I was here with my family. For young couples of single people this might be ok. Generally I guess you get what you pay for. BUT I was deceived by the high grades given here. Trendy hotel. Reception and common areas very small and dark, the rooms fancy but the toilet/shower combination with the room does´nt work. Rom gets humid after showering and as toilet does´nt have ventilation it gets stinky.

Sandwiched between two Irish pubs and less than a block from Time's Square, this hotel is perfect for the sightseeing traveller. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel is chic and modern.

Billed as 5-star - no way. Room very very small. Bed clean enough (and comfortable) but carpets FILTHY. Pool (big draw for me and 9-year old) is in the lobby and is a swim up bar. No way am I in a bathing suit in the lobby and no way is my kid in a bar with adult behavior. Great little Hotel! Much better than the usual big chain hotels and a great location. The swim up bar pool was a lovely addition and the pool party at the weekend was good fun. Definitely worth checking out.

My wife and I stayed at the Room Mate Hotel over MLK weekend. We have stayed here once before and thought the hotel was fine given the location and price. However, this time, we found the bathroom set up (with the toilet and shower in the same space) to be quite strange and we found the shower area to be so unsanitary that we chose to drive home unshowered […] the next day rather than risk showering in the bathroom, especially without shower shoes. Unfortunately, due to this experience and what appears to be a deteriorating overall feel to the hotel, we will not be staying at the Room Mate again. I was in the city for a business trip and stayed here on a saturday night. After reading all the reviews I was a little bit concerned about the noise from the hotel club and the size of the room.Turns out none of this was an issue. The hotel honored my request for a quite room ( was on the 8th floor). I had no problems sleeping. The room was large enough […] for 2 people to share and store luggage ( I had a king size bed). The bed is comfortable but is on a platform so if you have any disabilities it may be a little difficult to get in an out of but for most people this would be fine. A quick comment on the lack of ammenities ( room service, safety and lack of shampoo etc etc) that some have mentioned. This a boutique hotel so some of the ammenities you would expect from a larger hotel chain will not be found here. In a city like New York you probably do not need them. REGARDING ROOM SERVICE: There are plenty of places to eat and many would even deliver late. REGARDING ROOM AMMENITIES Shampoo etc: There was shampoo,conditioner, body gel and lotion in the room as well as a hair dryer, safe bigger enough for a laptop , bathrobes and an unstocked refridgerator. I found this all adequate but once again you could easily find shampoo etc close by as there are chain drugstores with in walking distant. REGARDING SAFETY : I liked that there was a bouncer at the front door for the club downstairs. Most hotels do not have that. I actually felt safer as the small lobby and bouncer made it more difficult for someone to get into the hotel . Lastly, I fouund the location great, staff friendly and helpful, the room clean and quiet. I was very happy would my stay and would stay her again with no reservations. Mehr

Really good, comfortable hotel providing excellent value for money! Unfortunate mistake when checking out when they tried to charge us for breakfast! After a challenging conversation it was sorted! Wouldnt stop us staying again though!

The location of the hotel is great for theater-going, but the standard room is way too small, more like a really small dorm room than a hotel. Claustrophobes beware. There was nothing but a platform bed and a built-in sink/cabinet in the room--no chair, no dresser, nothing to put things on except the platform, which you have to climb on to get into […] the bed, the only place to sit in the room. Definitely get a different category of room. The lobby is also very small, so no place besides the room to sit. It's also dark, and the venue of a club on Saturday night, very crowded and noisy. This hotel was SMALL!!!! But for the price was great. Location AWESOME! Beds Clean! Bathrooms Clean! People Friendly!!! Usually stay a the W so this in no where in the ball park. Still upscale for the price, clean and fun! Indoor POOL with swim up bar! Really like it for the price!

Location is great. Very clean and service was good. I's like to stay here every time I go to NYC.

Been staying here on and off for the past 7 years. Use to be one of my favorite places to stay, but they don't seem to care about the little but important things anymore. They have taken all the art off the room walls. The coffee makers are gone. Paper cups, no glass. Old tvs. Service is unreliable. just get the feeling that nobody cares.
